[Q] Is there a way of calibrating screen colours on S2? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I used an S1 for a couple of years until today. I loved the S1 so much that I actually really wanted to keep it, but the low RAM was becoming a problem, so since the design of the S2 is pretty similar to the S1 I decided to buy one.
It's all rooted and running CM11 now, but the screen has a little but of yellow tint to it. On the S1, most ROMs had advanced display options which you could adjust red, green, blue individually as well as red, green, blue gamma.
Is there any way of doing this with the S2? This tint is a bit annoying.. :-/
Thanks

Flash Dorimanx 8.43v64 kernel with any JB rom, and you will be able to set colors in STweaks, or you can try 10.43 for CM11 but im not sure if it has color options.

Does flashing that kernel give me seperate control of red/green/blue?
I flashed a different kernel that also used STweaks, but there was only a brightness control and a gamma control, no individual colour sliders.
It's CM11 I'm using. Don't really want to go back to using JB, after having seen the great increase in performance I got when I upgraded to 4.4.3.

I dont know if any KK kernel has that option, but this kernel works with any JB rom and has blue/red color scale settings:Kernel_Dorimanx-V8.43-[12-21]-[24-10]-JB-SGII-PWR-CORE.zip

[Q] CM7 Color tuning vs Voodoo Color

How does using the stock CM7 kernel with the built in "Color tuning" (Settings/Device settings/) compare with using a modified kernel and Voodoo Color?
I didn't use the stock CM7 tuning but I can tell you this: the Voodoo color is AWESOME!

Personally I am able to adjust my screen to look much better with voodoo color. The cm7 settings make my screen look washed out no matter what adjustments I make.

I think I'll stick with Glitch or Streamline then.
I would like the headset button support that the stock kernel offers, but not enough to sacrifice the beauty of voodoo color.

[Q] Is BLN support kernel specific..can it be added later?

I used a version of DarkyROM about 6 months ago that had BLN support, and it worked fine with Light Flow.
Now I'm on DragonROM (the latest one as of today) and Siyah 3.1 rc1 kernel, but Light Flow doesn't work.
I have tried all the options - for alternate methods etc that it has. Is this something that can only be fixed by changing kernels? Can it be fixed by replacing a .so or something?
(Aside: I sincerely hope Samsung adds a dedicated notification LED in the Galaxy S3).
Bln is kernel dependant. I got it work with Siyah 3.0.1 and now I'm on abyss kernel and it works too.
But I do not use lite flow any more, because it did not work dependable. Sometimes lights did not go on, sometimes they did not go off.
Now I use BLN control pro in combination with notify me free and bln works fine!

Does it support different colors for the softkey LEDs..or are they only white?
White only. Because the LED's in the SGS2 soft buttons are white.

Um, what?
This is a screen tuner. It does not look like it will change the color of the softkeys. Not sure anything will, as MistahBungle says, it appears the LEDs of the softkeys are specifically white.

LED Notification brightness

Is there a way to mod/hack the LED brightness levels? I was trying out different ROM's, almost all AOSP ROM's have very bright LED notifications while in Samsung Stock ROM (Jelly Bean) LED is too dim. It looks like there are some config files inside sys\class\leds folder but after I edit them with Root Explorer and save they just restore to the original value. Any ideas guys?

Try Light Manager app from play store, it gives full brightness as well as options to reduce brightness if you want to reduce it.. Also with lot of other personalisation options...

Try custom kernel e.g boeffla kernel.. have option to change to bright led notification

I already tried Light Manager, it helped a little but I remember that LED's were even brighter on ICS, so the "Bright" setting in Light Manager isn't what I'm looking for. Thank for that kernel, I will look in to it :fingers-crossed:

[Q] kernel-dorimanx color/contrast problem

How can i change colors and/or contrast to default settings?
On default kernel colors are much different then on dorimanx kernel. I can even notice a change while bootin. They are so ugly :C. f.e. Gradient on setting's background is ragged and colors are "too much colorful". Sreenshot on my pc's monitor looks normal.
im on bam-rom kitkat with dorimanx beta (color change was on other roms and older dorimanx kernels so i dont think its sth important but)
i have made some "preview" in gimp effect is "overmuch"
(on right how it looks on dorimanx on left how it used to be(its screenshot made on dorimanix but as i said it looks strange only on my phone))
Yes dorimanx has this issue.
I was also trying to find a solution to this when I was using it but then I switched rom and kernel for moving over to kitkat.
So u just suggest to change kernel? is there some way to "fix" it?
i think i will change but well i have no clue which kernel will be the best for kitkat. I guess i will have to test some.

Well, if the bam rom is having those mdnie settings that the stock rom used to have then you can set it "Natural".
It used to be there in Settings>Advanced>Screen.
Then in Stweaks you can uncheck "lcd power reduce" in the screen tab and also you can adjust the red and blue color scales to something around 132.
