[Q] kernel-dorimanx color/contrast problem - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How can i change colors and/or contrast to default settings?
On default kernel colors are much different then on dorimanx kernel. I can even notice a change while bootin. They are so ugly :C. f.e. Gradient on setting's background is ragged and colors are "too much colorful". Sreenshot on my pc's monitor looks normal.
im on bam-rom kitkat with dorimanx beta (color change was on other roms and older dorimanx kernels so i dont think its sth important but)
i have made some "preview" in gimp effect is "overmuch"
(on right how it looks on dorimanx on left how it used to be(its screenshot made on dorimanix but as i said it looks strange only on my phone))

Yes dorimanx has this issue.
I was also trying to find a solution to this when I was using it but then I switched rom and kernel for moving over to kitkat.

So u just suggest to change kernel? is there some way to "fix" it?
i think i will change but well i have no clue which kernel will be the best for kitkat. I guess i will have to test some.

Well, if the bam rom is having those mdnie settings that the stock rom used to have then you can set it "Natural".
It used to be there in Settings>Advanced>Screen.
Then in Stweaks you can uncheck "lcd power reduce" in the screen tab and also you can adjust the red and blue color scales to something around 132.

[ROM][XXKI4][Nov14] best ICS theme ever - DISCONTINUED

discontinued
can u make a seperate file for the dialer? that looks hella sexy.
Sure... flash this via CWM: multiupload.com/IXSELU2MEU
(should work on any XXKI4 ROM, but if you want to be save, do a backup first)
i was just looking for an ICS themed rom, with no need for further theeming, i'm very glad that i have found this
the base rom is 2.3.5 KI4? cause right now i'm on KI4, but is 2.3.4
does it have overscroll glow?
and, can u add custom percentage to battery, to display the remaing %?
cheers
Yes, it's 2.3.5 and it has the blue overscroll glow (but no bounce).
I'll have a look at the battery percentage, will add it to 1.0.
Nice! does the DIALER support MULTI DPI? i am looking for this really long time and no one seems to know how to do it...
i use 190 DPI SCREEN DENSITY
It's not explicitly multi DPI, so probably won't work. I haven't tested it though.

Flash this for the battery percentage indicator: http://www.multiupload.com/PKE1GGLY9X
(make a nandroid backup for safety first...)
I love it... however it's in German lol can you give me directions to setting English as my lang?
Any ideas how it landed on German?
update-- sorted out. weird though.
anyone else experience this?
Glad you sorted it out
That's really weird, though. I will look into it, but I'm not sure I'll find out what's going on (default language for the ROM is actually en-GB).
EDIT: I can't reproduce this... it stays English after flashing... let's wait for additional feedback.

yeah mine was also in German and had to change it, and my lock screen wont work. the pattern lock, or the other locks dont work, now im not sure if that has to do with the kernel. i just have a the xxKI4 stock kernel installed.
Lockscreens work fine here. The ROM installs its own kernel. Did you install another kernel after the ROM?
What ROMs are you coming from? Mine stays English after flashing, I can't reproduce the language issue.

I'll have a look, but I don't have much time...
well i needed to get titanium backup to work so had to install an unsecure kernel to root the device, and i didnt know what kernel to use to to put back on.
---------- Post added at 01:12 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:05 AM ----------
is there a way to root it without installing an unsecure kernel?
I'll upload 0.9b in a few minutes, which has working root. Will be up in about an hour.
Hello,
it seems there is a little graphical bug with availlable wifi networks popup :
On my phone (SamICS 0.9), the signal strength is white on a white background so you can't see it.
Best regards.
Nice rom, I also encountered the language issue as i think when i first flashed rom it was in Danish? anyways i managed to get it into English. Apart from that everything else seems to work fine
Danish, not German? That's more likely, I had that with other ROMs, too - including Hyperdroid, which this one is based on. It's strange, since the default language is set to en-GB.
The WiFi signal is fixed (more or less) in 1.0, since the background is more grey-ish now.
EDIT: 1.0 uploading...
Is a very good rom i tested from 3day an they no bug but simply grafics problem and i think its going to be resolved to the new version
thanks good job
New ROM is up!
The theme is more refined now, but there are some Gingerbread limitations (e.g. black text on dark grey background, because making the text white would make it disappear in other apps that have white backgrounds).
It's very usable, though, and I personally love the ICS theme.
Have fun and report back how it's working for you!

Downloading. Will let you know in a little while
Thanks. Nice ROM. Icons in the status bar are blurry though. Apart from that, working fine for now.
Also, what file in the framework do I need to change to change the background that shows when we are in the Settings menu etc? Kinda obtrusive the default ones, so wanted to change them.
EDIT: Superuser is denying all apps root access, without any prompt showing up. Tried with both Titanium and Root Explorer.

The icons in the status bar look blurry because i did't have time to resize them.I promise that this will be fixed in future versions.
Maybe the problem with the su apk is caused by the kernel you are using.I never encountered such a problem when i run the tests but i was using my kernel instead.
Please, if you find any other bug, let me know...
Thanks in advance...

I am not familiar with the kernels available for mt11i because i do not own the device...
I can assure you though, that everything will run flawlessly if you use my kernel for mt11i:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1496102
My friend uses this setup on his mt11i for about a week and no problem has risen...
Good rom.for instalations folows next step:
1.instal firmware .062
2.instal this kernel;http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1496102
3.enter in CWM and full wipe
4.instal hybrom v.15
5. 2 reboot
6.enter in CWM and wipe cache partition dalvik cache
7.enjoy
I'm going to flash it today, or at least tommorow, and see how the rom is rolling at neo v. Going to report back soon
Edit 1: Okey, I see I have 2 launchers installed at begining. So I'm able to chose which one I would like to use, and just uninstall the another one
Edit 2: A little feedback The picture of background in settings menu is not so good in my opinion, it would be nice if there would be an option that will replace the image as just black background.. And second, the lack of OC option on your kernel

If you want, you can install another stock based kernel with OC.The rom will work fine with it.You will never get OC from my kernel. It's a way of thinking.I do not see it as a disadvantage.
If you want you can install another theme and change the settings background.
Please give some feedback on some other important issues like stability, speed, smoother scrolling, better touchscreen responsiveness, etc in comparison with stock firmware...
By the way, the resize of the icons is almost ready and i will probably release a flashable zip with the fix soon enough...
regarding the kernel.... if we use kernel nightelf is not better then kernel 62???what i mean if i using nightelf kernel can i just flash the u're rom??????

Hybrom is built without a boot image, and it can be installed on an any stock based kernel.
The choice about what kernel you will install is up to you.I prefer kernels without overclocking.
In the end you will have more disadvantages from an overclocked kernel (overheating, instability) than advantages (speed)
I agree;i use boof kernel and everythings work perfect.

I always wondered how will Diezel's Sony Sketch font look on our large screens
p.s. that font is not used in SE logo, it's created later based on look of SE logo
SE logo was made just as a logo, it was drawn.
To be honest it's a bit thin Not sure if we(on android) can change size, formatting of fonts.

Looking forward to see that, as when using this rom I feel somehow strange, like things aren't properly sized
Also in sms, icon in upper right part, for new sms, is a bit to large. Same thing happened when I tried using conv. app from xperia S.

-stability, hm ok didn't experience any problem.
-speed, speed of each app is ok, but switching between apps is slow, I would say to slow. for example when i receive sms and pull down status bar, click on it, sometimes it need 2,3 second to switch to sms.
-smooth scrolling is ok (why just ok? well maybe didn't pay much attention to that )
-touchscreen responsiveness, well I noticed one annoying thing, usually on stock, when light turns off ->touchscreen is off, and you can wake your phone with only hard keys. In your rom you can wake phone even touching on (turned off)screen which lasts only 2-3 second after it turns off. That wouldn't be a big problem if not only you wake it up but you actually press something
Also I noticed low number of free ram, I guess it's because of launcher and maybe other stuff you used.

About sonysketch font:I really didn't know which of the two came first. The logo or the font...
Useful information.
About icon resizing:Icons in the SystemUI.apk are resized and a flashable zip containing the new resized SystemUI.apk is uploaded on the first page of this thread under the "USEFUL CWM FLASHABLE ZIPS" section(SystemUI.apk is the one responsible mostly for the icons in your status bar).Framework-res.apk is now under resizing and it's half done. One or two more apks. and everything will be o.k.
About conversations.apk:The icon (for new conversation) is like the one from xperia s because this is the xperia s conversations.apk.It has nothing to do with resizing...
About screen going off:The screen after about 20sec gets dimmer. It doesn't turn off.It turns off after 30 sec.In this 10sec interval you have the chance to fully wake your screen only by touching it.After the 30sec have passed you will have to press the (hard) home key to wake your screen.
About free ram:Please give me some numbers... (I already have improved this feature in the upcoming v16)
P.S. i do not own an mt11i,so testing is very hard (a friend of mine owns an mt11i,but i do not see him often). So, posts like the previous one, are very useful for me.Please give me some more feedback and i may be able to bring neohybrom at the levels of the original hybrom...

About screen, if you didn't changed levels, it should dim like stock, right? I know about that, but I'm not talking about that.
I'm talking that when screen goes off(really off, no dim) you can still wake up phone by touching screen.
About rams, hm, I moved back to stock, so can't check real numbers, but I remember after some time it gets down to ~70-80, it doesn't get freeup, and i didn't even used much apps, regular calls, sms, gtalk, 1-2 times browser.
only after I use one of those widgets from GO(sorry don't know name, as I don't use it usually) to kill apps, it only goes to ~130.

AOKP / CM9 loses antialiasing when modifying colors

I flashed AOKP and CM9 and noticed when going to the settings and changing the mDNIE Scenario the screen loses anti-aliasing or at least everything gets sharpened ( images and text ). It's especially obvious when you look at the diagonal line pattern of the drop down notification bar.
AOKP has a second menu, it's own menu option to change colors but unfortunately there isn't a kernel yet that supports it ( or a combination of the ported AOKP not completely working on I777 ).
I was curious if there's a work around or will I simply have to wait until CM9 / AOKP solves this problem.
My I777 is tinted blue so I would like to be able to correct this by making it warmer. I used Chainfire3D when I was still on GB but unfortunately Chainfire3D doesn't work with ICS.
Thank you.

screen color

so i replaced my cracked screen and the colors on this look rally bad. its like not enough contrast or something. anny suggestions on how to fix that?

How do I know if they have modules. Im runing rootbox rom, anny suggestions for a kernel?

[Q] Is there a way of calibrating screen colours on S2?

I used an S1 for a couple of years until today. I loved the S1 so much that I actually really wanted to keep it, but the low RAM was becoming a problem, so since the design of the S2 is pretty similar to the S1 I decided to buy one.
It's all rooted and running CM11 now, but the screen has a little but of yellow tint to it. On the S1, most ROMs had advanced display options which you could adjust red, green, blue individually as well as red, green, blue gamma.
Is there any way of doing this with the S2? This tint is a bit annoying.. :-/
Thanks
Flash Dorimanx 8.43v64 kernel with any JB rom, and you will be able to set colors in STweaks, or you can try 10.43 for CM11 but im not sure if it has color options.

Does flashing that kernel give me seperate control of red/green/blue?
I flashed a different kernel that also used STweaks, but there was only a brightness control and a gamma control, no individual colour sliders.
It's CM11 I'm using. Don't really want to go back to using JB, after having seen the great increase in performance I got when I upgraded to 4.4.3.
