ive tried every root method and none are working on my phone. towel root, didnt reboot after so says should be rooted and not. tried cf auto root and goes through the steps and into recovery but doesnt root. tried philz recovery and root and went into recovery and flashed update root and still nothing. what am i missing? with the tool kit after flashing twrp i can actually get a su icon error on the phone saying it needs to be flashed via twrp or play store and neither of those methods work after doing so..
Whats ur model ¿¿¿

Downgrade to NE6 (flash in odin), then use towel root. It will work.
root help
Go to galaxys5root.com that gives you a detailed and step by step guide on how to root your galaxy s5. It's easy to understand and follow cause a picture is accompanied with each step. It shows you 2 methods, CFL auto root with no recovery for basic stock root or Root with recovery.

Hi,
Please help me. As none would help me I tried to root my device myself. I just flashed KG6 and after that I flashed CF-ROOT KG6. Now my device booted up again and I opened superoneclick application. After clicking root it said my device was already rooted (no it isn't?) so I continue anyway.. Now it hangs on step 5.
Anyone knows what to do?
thanks in advance!

That's how you root. If you've done that then you're rooted.
Well, your device actually had root access because you flashed CF-Root (see it in the name?). At what stage exactly is it hanging up? If in doubt, just reflash the cf-root and you'd be set, I guess...

You're done. Once you flash CF-Root, your phone is rooted. It is that simple. To confirm, just go into the applications drawer and you should see "Superuser" installed. If it is there, then you are rooted.
Ok sorry, so I accepted an OTA update and I of course lost root access. I thought I could go back and attempt to re-root the same way with odin, by flashing clockworkmod.TAR, but it did not work. I even tried a factory reset and attempted re-rooting this same way; and it still wont work. When flashing CWM, it installs successfully, but still wont give me root access. SU, and CWM are still on the phone after a factory reset. How do I get re-rooted access, and can I do it with CWM file, and SU still on the phone?

You need to reroot with CF Root as you probably did originally.
This is done through ODIN.
It sounds like you're just reflashing the CWM recovery
EDIT - see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1695238

By re-rooting with CF-root, would the fact that SU still being on the phone cause any issues?

I can not get this device to root. I have tried everything i see or can think of. I really need some help. I have the SMn900p I have tried to root this phone all weekend. I cant do it for nothing. I will be throwing this phone out the window if i cant get it rooted. Right now im stuck at the RECOVERY IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING. Odin wont detect my device any more and when it was working i couldn't get Kies to detect it because my MTP option will not come up on the phone. If i try to update the device thru OTA i get a error about my connection and that i should try later or go thru Kies. I am beyond pissed that i paid so much money for the "best" phone without a contract and i cant even root it. Its really depressing smh...... Please someone help me.

Sorry I guess I should have expressed that. I'm on 4.3 stock flashed to Red Pocket Mobile. My activation is locked I guess because I still have the green check telling me I need to activate the device. When my phone is in DL Mode The info says Custom and Knox is tripped 0x1 but I'm not rooted nor do I have a Custom Recovery (If any of that information helps) Thanks for the reply

You gotta get the correct drivers if odin is not reading. If you're still stuck on that screen, pull the battery, boot into download mode, hit vol up to continue, plug the n3 in and see if odin reads it. If it reads then flash this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2655883 cuz Freeza is awesome, that'll get you on kitkat, then run cf's auto root cuz Chainfire is awesome. I guess the root exploits are up to date for 4.4.2 cuz I was on 4.3 mj4 and had the same problem of locking up on the recovery boot screen.

Go to the phone on Developer options and click on revoke usb permission then connect the usb cable to the pc and give permission to the pc with the debugging mode on.

Hi, I got my S5 today and out of the box it had NG3 installed, is there a root method for this yet? If so could someone point me in the right direction of where I can find it please?
Have you tried towelroot?

I did but idk if I did something wrong, I soft bricked and had to odin back stock with the firmware off of samfirmware site
Kernel build date on NG3 is July 19 so the exploit has been patched. Can't root with towelroot since it needs a kernel build before Jun 3.
What I did was odin flash philz recovery, then went into the custom recovery and went to reboot, it asked me to root and so I did then was able to download su from play store and was rooted

I was on nf6 rooted but then hooked phone to PC and used odin to flash the new bn3 and lost root..and towel root doesn't work so the only way I new of to get root back was flash custom recovery then root it through the custom recovery ...

This phone will never not be rootable. It has an unlocked bootloader, so you can just flash the recovery of your choice, root it from there, then reboot and you're done.

And why is that? Unless Samsung has restricted the bootloader permissions or set a new qfuse to block a downgrade of this firmware version, then the OP could use Odin to install a pre June 3rd build of 4.4.2 firmware, which Towel root can work with.
The previous update was revertible by installing an earlier firmware (confirmed). And NG3 is probably revertible as well (unconfirmed) i.e. it will be revertible unless Samsung took explicit steps to block a downgrade.
Provided that the OP doesn't care about the Knox flag, then the suggestion to install a custom recovery and root from there is valid too.

Thanks.
Yeah, I did it via download mode.
So, what I did, I flash it via Odin in Download mode, and when it auto-reboots, I instantly hold Power + Pwr Up + Home in order to get to Recovery.
If I let it boot up first, it seems that recovery is overwritten by the stock recovery.
All good now =)

Hi guys, no luck here, have the G900T, with the NG3, tried all with Odin, phillz recovery, bootloader+modem, downgrade to NF6 (failed too) or even the one before, nada, zero, just fail and fail resulting soft brick and only through Kies recovery I'm able to have the phone working again!

But as I commented on my first post here, nada, nothing, I have tried the Phillz, the CF-auto-root, downgrade, with the original cable and others, with and without the sim card and/or sd card inserted (all of this with usb debug on in the developers settings) i dont really understand why, everything I try goes to fail and soft brick, only recuperable with Kies and full wipe...
Mine is the MS-G900T with the latest firmware :S is very weird, isn't the first time I root a phone (Galaxy Vibrant and Blaze, Nexus and Nexus 7) and I have flsh a lot of times and I know the for this procedure you have to follow each letter step by step!
I'm start thinking that probably is a locked bootloader... dunno...
this was easy and thank you. i downgraded with the full stock file, no data loss. grabbed mobile pro and im now at ng3 rooted. tho my e-mail will not work. might have to factory reset the device.
Using the method described here, I was able to root my S4 with the PC version of kingroot instead of wondershare mobilego. I recently had to factory reset my S4 as I had bricked it. When I went into wondershare mobilego to re-root my S4, my trial had run out. In a last attempt I tried kingroot and it worked. Hope this helps
Is this root method actually working??
Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
i just did it and yes it is working . change kernel to oc1 and use king root
Actually I was able to just flash the OC1 kernel with Odin and then rooted with KingRoot mobile app instead of the PC version. Thanks for the instructions and files!
