I think that all kernels allows OC or undervolt.
But be careful OC should damage CPU. Or device will be unstable and get a lot of freezes.
it is just because I used to be able to overclock it to 1.4GHz on Siyah Kernel for Android 4.1.2
I've got my Max CPU speed at 1.3GHz.
That should be safe. Anyone pushing a 1.2 phone processor up to speeds like 1.6 should expect it to break. Phones don't have cooling like PC's where you can get away with large speed increases like that..

Hey All,
I have installed Foxhound ROM for ICS and loaded the Siyah Kernal.. The ROM itself is great, I have also overclocked the CPU to 1.7Ghz, But i see some battery warming issues. I have installed NStools as well.
Any recommendations what under volting can i use with this config?

Why overclock,do u experience any difference in speed in daily use, except in benchmark..
Btw an app is installed with siyah called STweaks,it controls all kernel features.read first page post 4-5 by droidphile, excellent guide

Yes I have observed changed after overclocking.. The s3 boots up way faster plus for gaming it showed me real difference specially playing real racing 2 with 1.4 and 1.7..Now I only need to undervolt correctly so I can save on my batter life.. Can we set a custom voltage for 1.7 below stock values??

stock voltage for 1.7 ghz is 1400mv, try undervolting by -50mv to -100mv and stick with one which is stable
use setcpu
keep changing it down in increments of 12.5mv and do the strees test keep doing that till u find a value that works
ps once u've done that let's us know what it is.
1088mv for 1200mHz that's the top freq I use so I never played with the voltages for the freq above it.
Hope this helps
remember thanks if it did

k did the testing for ya
on MY DEVICE (Every device slightly diff)
1704MHz voltage 1288mv (put in 1290mv it will round it down)
if that don't work or is not stable for u then the next step up is to 1300mv .
775 mv for 100MHz .
hope this helps and if it did thanks is only 1 click away.

Thanks Bala, Stressing the phone to -50mv at the moment.. Have you tried at -100mv? whats the result so far?
Also when charging I observe my phone warming a little.. Is that good?
I recently flashed to 2.45cz firmware and I obtained root access and cwm. What I wanted to know was that does stock kernel allow over-under clocking with antutu cpu master ?? Or I need a custom kernel for that??
Use the thank button, it's there for a reason

I was able to underclock the stock firmware with antutu master!! I underclocked it at 1gz at max and it's working!! I can already see the slight lag even with free ram when playing temple run which was never before!!

Yes you can underclock but not overclock and/or undervolt stock kernel.
Is it just me or do you think overclocking a 1.5 Ghz device for non-testing purposes is just unnecessary?
Hello all, i have a question, i am using the Phenomenal 3.0 normal version kernel and is using SETCPU apps to manage my CPU speed. However, when i try to set the speed to 1100mhz and above, the CPU speed does not go up to 1100mhz and above, instead it always stay at 1000mhz.
Has anyone experinece this before? if yes, has anyone any steps to resolve this?
Could it be the undervolt issue that is preventing me for going up to 1100mhz?
Thanks.
Looking at the thread it doesn't look like the kernel has overclock capabilities,

I am not trying to overclock, just trying to go to 1400mhz at times but i just cant go past 1000mhz, only when i restart the phone, then it will go to 1400 at times...
seem like i have solve the problem by untick the cpu power saving under the power saving option. However, it seem like the SetCPU apps is useless as i am unable to control the CPU anymore.. is that true? or are there any apps that can overcome this issue?

Have you tried using other apps, instead of SetCPU, or are you running two CPU-manipulation apps at once?
Try clearing SetCPU's data/cache and try again
I personally use AnTuTu CPU Master, but that is a personal choice, I guess

Phenomenal kernel is a ready to use kernel. You cannot change any settings here in this kernel. It's not like any other kernel wherein gives you the ability to configure the cpu and gpu. Setcpu will only work with other kernels such as SiyahKernel. This will give you the ability to set the cpu and gpu freq and voltage. The power saving mode limits the power of your cpu, thus disabling it will increase cpu freq

Nope. Stock kernel will not allow you to change it. If you're on stock ics rom, i would suggest you use siyah kernel v1.5.2. I'm once a user of it. If you need a guide in underclocking and undervolting, you can find the best guide here posted by bala_gamer. You can also settings in his signature which you can use.

Yes sir I know. But I just want to give other options. So that he can choose which is good for him. He can overclock upto 1800mhz in siyah kernel. But afaik, he is more on overclocking with undervolting to have performance and battery life.

And you are very right!!!!! Doesnt matter what app you use u cant overclock on stock kernel!!!! Stock kernel doesnt have the provision for that. And if members who send links read those links properly before they send them they will realise that you need a kernel that supports overclocking like siyah!!!!!!!!!!!! Stock kernel doesnt.

Post your benchmark results and battery stats and settings here. I know benchmarks aren't an accurate way to tell whether or not a kernel performs well, but I do find it fun to run benchmarks and see just how fast a device will score. Huge thanks to Ktoonsez for making his kernel for this device! :good:

I usually use either setcpu or rom toolbox pro if kernel doesn't come with an app. There are quite a few cpu control apps on playstore.. Ktoonsez has an app that comes w/ his kernel on GS3 so thinkin he may make it in this but its very new. This is just build #1. Can't wait till oc is added!! Its gonna be great.

During the installation of the viper3D (275) ROM I can choose between clockspeeds (I'm using the synergy ROM atm so I know I can overclock it to 1,7ghz and still be stable) the gout clock can be raises to 320, is this safe? Overclocking is all in the kernel. The GPU clock speed (the one you're referring to at 320mhz) is the graphics processor, technically its not being overclocked, its being brought back up to the Qualcomm default speed

I would suggest you dont go anywhere near 1.4 ghz....All other setting....leave it at htc default...Vsync=off and the last option..make sure you choose.Rom MAnage cpu clock or something.......i forget the words...i met trouble letting kernel manage the cpu clock....
