Does the Z2 support T-mobile's upcoming 700mhz LTE band? - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Title says it all. Does the D6503 that most of you here bought support the new LTE band T-mobile will be rolling out soon?

http://m.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_z2-6144.php
Yes

We had three months test (it's still on) in Croatia and yeap, that's working on Z2.

USA t mobile 4g

Dear guys I bought my s3 from the middle east now I live in New York and with t mobile I only get edge on my data connection. I searched the web and xda but couldn't find a useful solution pleas help me with what is possible to do. if I rooted wich radio and Rom would work.
Thank u all already.

EDGE is the best you'll be able to get with T-Mobile. Your international GS3 doesn't have the 1700MHz band needed for T-Mobile 4G.
Your options are to live with it, switch providers and go with AT&T or sell your GS3 and buy the T-Mobile version.
Bellow is a screen shot from wiki pediatrician for gt-i9300 base bands it includes all almost there must be a work arriund to get 4g

I would say wait few more months t-mobile already started rolling out H+ for 1900. So in few months we will be able to use high speed data

where did you hear that?
Sell it and get the t-mo gs3 version, you'll need 1700 mhz umts to be able to get the 3g (fake 4g) on t-mo. And this is hardware is no root or magic to change it!

9/25 but you have to return to sony instead of them. I guess negri might get it about the same time. I am pretty sure it will work on LTE on ATT.
I am a few days from preordering unless I hear something new about htc one max release date.

I thought the LTE Version was C6833 , what Version is the C6806 ???

C6833 is LTE version suited for Europe and Australia, probably this is what you called call the international LTE version
C6806 is LTE version suited for North America
C6843 is LTE version suited for Japan and Korea as it has a SEG1 TV Tuner antenna
Search for the Z Ultra whitepapers for full details.

6833 should work with tmobile LTE. It wont work with ATT LTE.
6833 and 6806 both have band 4 - so they'll both work on TMO. only 6806 will get LTE on ATT.

I don't know much about the LTE networks in the USA, but check out this list and find your carrier, see which LTE bands they use;
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks
And then compare to the LTE bands listed on page 4 here;

I am on T-mobile list say's band 4 , so I should be good & should have no problems with it working right ?
I've done lots and lots of research on the matter.
The C6806 is the ONLY version of the Xperia Z Ultra that will work on AT&T LTE (LTE Band 17). It ALSO has Band 4, which means it will work on T-Mobile LTE in the US also. It has Penta-band 3G, which means it will work on AT&T AND T-Mobile 3G as well. This is the PERFECT phone for the US if you are wanting a Z Ultra.
guys we use band 4 and usa use a different band it wont work same as nexus 4 only works in the use when lte is enabled not in uk.

Cause I don't need it for AT&T , & also I don't want to wait til the end
of October to buy it .

C6833/c6806/c6802 4g lte & networks explained

I've already preordered my Sony Xperia ZU from atgsm.com
Although it's backordered right now and I have to wait another week for it to arrive, ( SUCKS because I even got FedEx 2 Day Shipping! ): )
I can POSITIVELY and SURELY CONFIRM that:
C6833 Works on all networks INCLUDING 4G LTE for T-Mobile as this uses BAND 4
C6806 Works on all networks INCLUDING 4G LTE for T-Mobile and AT&T
C6802 Works on all networks EXCLUDING 4G LTE
Hope this clears up any confusion. The International version of the Xperia ZU will work on all networks that have 4G LTE as well EXCEPT AT&T'S, presumably because it does not have the supported band. (I cannot confirm but am 99% sure) The North American (US) version will be slightly cheaper by $20-$50 depending where you order it from. The only true benefit of this (besides saving money of course) is the ability to connect to AT&T's 4G LTE network. Other than that, they are both the same. (EXLCUDING C6802 which does NOT support ANY 4G LTE speeds)
If you don't want to wait until after October 14 like me, go ahead and get the international version. Some websites have good deals and you might be able to get it at an equal price OR cheaper compared to the C6806 if you look wisely and do your research.
Personally, the international version is the way to go if you aren't on AT&T's network because if you ever go somewhere outside of the US, you can still use prepaid phone plans or such and access the internet. For such an amazing device coming with a premium price tag, I'd like to be TRULY mobile with my phone!
PLEASE stay tuned as when my Xperia ZU arrives I'll do a live video of me taking off the Anti-Shatter Film as some of you wish to do so. (Same here) I'll also post up some pictures of the cases I have and screen protectors I'll be using (SPIGEN TEMPERED GLASS COMING SEPT. 30!) and various tests (NOT the usual ones you see of benchmarks and such, but rather more interesting ones like size and everyday practical use)
If you guys have any questions just feel free to ask, we're a community here so let's see what valuable knowledge we can offer!

Correct. The C6833 has octaband LTE support. The bands on the Z Ultra (C6833) are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8 and 20. The big additions here are 2 and 4 which will open up the Z Ultra for broad use on major LTE networks in North America. AT&T have band 17, Verizon use band 13, Sprint use 25/27 and US Cellular operate on 12. Only T-Mobile have stayed ‘open’ on band 4. The other main carriers mentioned do also use bands 2 & 4, the unique bands allow them to lock down devices they sell to their own LTE networks, but 2 and 4 are open.

I can confirm this to be the case. I am currently running the C6833 on ATT and an unable to get the LTE to work. I have called them and checked and they have said by not having the 700 band, that is whats keeping me from accessing their LTE network. Right now all I am getting is HSPA+ on their network and it works pretty well. It has been a PITA getting all the network settings to work all at once but I think I have it all good now, so if anyone is trying to use ATT and having problems, I might be able to help.
One question I do have is that most LTE phones that are made specifically for ATT have LTE 700mhz band 17/2100. the C6833 has the 2100 band, so my question is why cant we access the LTE network using that band since we dont have the 700mhz?

You can't use it on LTE because 2100 is Band 1. The US does not use Band 1 (2100) because Band 4 (1700+2100) uses the 2100 for its downlink, therefore it is already being occupied. Make sense? Band 1 (2100) is something one sees mostly in Europe/Asia.
AT&T uses Band 2 (1900), Band 4 (1700+2100), Band 5 (850), and Band 17 (700). The majority of their network currently runs on Band 17. Without Band 17, you will not be able to access their LTE network in most places (I can only think of 3-4 places where they are not using Band 17 due to spectrum constraints).

Normally you will NOT see a LTE logo unless yo do some time of root or customization outside o the stock Sony UI and launcher that came with the phone. (I cannot confirm but so far with my recent phones, this has always been the case.) The only real possible way of proving that you're on LTE from T-Mobile is by getting an app and clocking your internet speeds.
Regardless, if you're satisfied with the speed of your data connection and the lightspeed of the Sony ZU, there's no need to bother. (Unless of course you feel conscious of shelling out the extra 50 or so dollars.)
Rest assured, my ZU C6833 will be coming in this Friday and I myself am on T-Mobile. I've heard time and time that everyone has been able to connect to their respective 4G LTE networks with ease, and combined with the speed and finesse of the phone it's a breeze to surf the web, play games, multitask etc. I hope that you're satisfied with what you have! It would be a shame if you device was faulty! (Let's hope not!)

Not sure what's confusing. Learn what bands your carrier uses and compare them on the spec. sheet.
T-Mobile uses Band 2 (1900) and Band 4 (1700+2100 or AWS) for HSPA+ (a.k.a. 4G) and uses Band 4 (1700+2100 or AWS) for LTE (a.k.a 4G LTE).
The c6833 according to Sony supports Band 5 (850), Band 7 (900), Band 4 (1700+2100 or AWS), Band 2 (1900), and Band 1 (2100) on HSPA+ and Band I (2100), Band 2 (1900), Band 3 (1800), Band 4 (1700+2100 or AWS), Band 5 (850), Band 7 (2600), band 8 (900), and Band 20 (800) on LTE.
Therefore, the 2 HSPA+ bands and the 1 LTE band you need for T-Mobile are on the c6833. It will also work great internationally. If you have AT&T though, you will not be able to get LTE and need the c6906 model.
Thank you for the confirmation.

I have the same APN settings on my c6833. I get LTE on T-Mobile in some areas (San Diego, California) but if I go somewhere there is no LTE, I get no data. It's like the phone doesn't want to switch to HSPA+ or anything else if there is no LTE. Do I need multiple APN's or does anyone know how to fix the data being either LTE or nothing?
Edit: I changed the "Bearer" to "Unspecified" instead of "LTE" and now it gets H+ but no LTE... Weird...

LG G2 Tmo or ATT: Which has more bands?

Hello,
ATT user here currently on Note 2. I'm planning on buying G2 off contract and I'm debating between ATT and Tmo. Verizon is out because although it has SIM card it won't access LTE on GSM.
I understand that Tmo has all the bands ATT does and more, is that true? Would that explain why it's $600 on Tmo site and $580 on ATT? I looked at their respective wiki's and product page but they don't provide consistent descriptions. If anyone can help it'd be greatly appreciated

I know the Moto X has more bands for Tmobile's version vs. AT&T. I wouldn't be surprised if the same is true for the LG G2 as well
From Wikipedia:
D800 ZNFD800 AT&T 850/1900/2100 LTE 2, 4, 5, 17
D801 ZNFD801 T-mobile 850/1700/1900/2100 LTE 2, 4, 17
TMO supports AWS, unlike AT&T. AT&T supports LTE band 5, unlike TMO.
this doesn't answer the OP's question, but, i have a sim unlocked att G2 and i can get 4G and 4G LTE service with my T-Mobile sim/account. coverage is not as good as at&t in my location.
Awesome, thanks Sacrosaint!
I went through the LTE wiki, it seems like 5 is not that prevalent. Seems like the Bahamas, South Korea, Belize...it seems to me that Tmo would be the better choice, no? What with its use of the AWS spectrum and all. I'm still on ATT for another year so I won't be jumping ship yet (by then I guess the G3 would be out...)
The only concern is whether ATT's LTE-A frequency can be grabbed by the Tmo version, whenever it launches...

Not sure of the truth to that. Verizon, T-mobile, and At&t all support LTE band 4 which is AWS 1700. It might be more likely a carrier lock that prevents you from getting full coverage?

I'm in AZ and actually purchased LG on day one that AT&T sold it. They did not want to sell out-right so I got a prepaid service and told them I would not activate until next month...Manager looked at me like I was a terrorist. Went outside and on my then GS4 went to an unlocker site and SIM UNLOCKED LG in about 25 mins. I tried two different APNs and one seems to be best as I have LTE mostly all over the valley!
SUMMERY
-Got phone before anyone else on TMObile
-Got phone at least $60+ cheaper W/taxes
-I can use the WIFI free hotspots of AT&T, always on the road...
-At work my LTE is 27-36mb down compared to 12on att co-workers, and Verizons 17MB on a different co-worker!
-At home my signal is a tiny bit spotty, oddly is only in my room ge 1-2 bars H+

Ah thank you for the clarification. So the Tmo version will get 3G coverage in areas the ATT version will not?
I called Tmo yesterday. They won't ask me a phone straight out, I have to buy a one month plan . Now I see why the prices on eBay are higher than the $600 listed. Just looking for a store that has the white model.

Oh I totally forgot about the wifi thing...is that an ATT service that works with our ATT plan, or will it know I'm using a Tmo phone and not let me connect? Not a big deal since I have 2 GB and always come under each month but itd be nice to have.

Well, since t-mobile's 3g/umts is predominantly on the AWS 1700 band, utilizing a t-mobile SIM on the at&t model will result in sparse coverage for 3g, short of roaming. I understand t-mobile has built out some of their 3g on 1900 as well so that would work for you. Based off of frequency support, I would say the t-mobile version is the better one to unlock and potentially use between at&t and t-mobile networks. LTE band 5 support doesn't buy you anything domestically.

Thank you everyone for your input . Guess Tmo it is.
Though...One wonders what their software support is like...I read that since they do wifi calling they're updates have to go through extra approval above and beyond the othercarriers because they have to deal with the FCC?

Awesome, thanks Sacrosaint!
I went through the LTE wiki, it seems like 5 is not that prevalent. Seems like the Bahamas, South Korea, Belize...it seems to me that Tmo would be the better choice, no? What with its use of the AWS spectrum and all. I'm still on ATT for another year so I won't be jumping ship yet (by then I guess the G3 would be out...)
The only concern is whether ATT's LTE-A frequency can be grabbed by the Tmo version, whenever it launches...

Here in the Bahamas we don't have LTE yet, but we're planning on covering the same spectrum as AT&T, bands as well.
no AT&T LTE on T-mo G2
I have an unlocked T-MO LG G2. I recently swithced to AT&T (which only benefit is greater coverage area bc HSPA+ is way slower than T-MO) however my phone is not showing 4G LTE only 4G. when i searched for networks the very first time it listed AT&T LTE but would not let me connect and now it doesn't even show up in the network search. Does the T-Mo variant block a certain frequency used for AT&T LTE ??

Incorrect. T-Mobile devices support ALL AT&T and T-Mobile bands, except LTE Band 5 (used by AT&T in a few rural areas). What's wrong is AT&T turns off LTE for non-AT&T devices. You have to call them up and give them the IMEI # of an AT&T-branded device (even if it's not yours and even if your SIM isn't in it/you don't plan on using it). They don't check after that.

T-Mobile US using 700MHz

Now that the department of justice approved T-Mobile's purchase of the A-block spectrum from Verizon, will the Z Ultra c6806 be able to use this once activated?

No. The C6806 supports LTE Band 17 (700b and 700c). The spectrum that TMobile just bought lies in LTE Band 12 (700a). When I learned this, I decided that a C6833 might make more sense for someone like me, who uses T-Mobile domestically but wants support for LTE 800 and 1800 MHz when traveling overseas. See my Google spreadsheet comparing the bands supported by the three major LTE versions of the Z Ultra.
