[Q] SGS2 unrooted after installing slimkat 4.4.2 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I found my previous rooted SGS2 unrooted after slimkat 4.4.2 installation
the installation for the new rom worked fine but when trying to modify dpi in /system/build.prop a got a message for no access
I run root checker and verified that phone is not rooted
baseband version is I9100JHLS2 and build number is Slim_i9100-userdebug 4.4.2 KVT49L 4068 test-keys
How can I root it againg? Thanks!

I don't remember properly, but in settings there is an option Super user or something... I went there, clicked on settings, and selected "apps and adb" and I tried running that dpi app again and it asked for root permissions. It worked for me

I went there and "apps and adb" was already selected under superuser, but after that root access was back!
I don't know what happened but it helped
Thanks Jonny

That's what happened to me too... No idea why

You can also flash SuperSU Update v. 2.01 from recovery....on kk 4.4.4 is better for management native root
Sorry for my poor english.....

its auto root, it installs supersu root if your phone is not rooted.remove root is below, it doesn't matter if your on siyah since you can download superuser on the market or root from extweak
No, you will not loose root when you uncheck "Auto-root".
It's just a check when booting if root exists, if not it will install superuser binary + app.

are you getting an error when it says
"Gaining root access"
if you still have problems, go to the bootmenu recovery > system keeper > install root
then reboot, and update the su binary
Omg it happened again! Same thing has anyone ran into this I forgot how I fixed it!!

The issue is some sort of super user failure.... it's just not working look at my attached screen shot from op

You have to uninstall Superuser then install it, to the newest version. Or update it through SafeStrap with this http://download.chainfire.eu/315/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.25.zip

Is this rom rooted?cant get root access

Of course it's rooted. Name one non-stock based rom which is not rooted.
Go to developer options using the method above. Then change root access to apps + adb. Some users say just simply changing it to apps works, try it.

Then maybe post up in the Slim (unofficial) thread. Make sure to say that you've also switched to apps+adb, as that's what will be thrown at you otherwise.
Edit: Have a look here, wonsky21 is having the same issues as you.

System settings, More, About phone, tap Build number 7 times which will enable Developer options, go back to More and now Developer options should be just above About phone, select Developer options and then change the option "root access" to "apps and adb".

I've never seen a developer option for root. Just download the latest version of SuperSU and flash it from recovery.

Wuuuut? He already has SuperSu/Superuser. That's implied when he mentioned that he "lost" root. Your correct in saying there are no developer options but if you go to about phone and tap build number 7 times then Developer options will appear/enable.

ups2525 gave you the right answer. May even have to fix permissions in recovery.

No, I mean whenever I got an ota update it made me lose root but reflashing supersu fixed it. And I have the developer options there just nothing about root.

Just curious; can you be more specific on which 4.3 Rom you flashed? I find it odd that the Dev would build a Rom that's not rooted.

Stock. Now I understand why you seem to have an option on dev options for root. You're using a custom ROM.
