S2 charges, No Mass-stores, No SD card in recovery - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi. I have an old i9100 and I am trying to update it. Its running the old 2.3.3. Im trying to odin it to stock 4.1.2. My laptop does not recognize the device. When I plug it into USB, it charges the device, but does not mount USB storage. I tried other USB ports and other cables. I even tried to other computers. Why does it only charge my device but not mount USB storage
secondly. I put the .zip file for 4.1.2. onto an SD card. I put the SD card in and booted into recovery. Recovery mode wont find my sd card. I went to external_sd and its empty. It shows nothing. However when I boot the phone normally and go into the OS and go into my files it shows the sd card perfectly fine and all its files.
Any idea how to solve these 2 problems????

PC won't recognize mounted sd

Don't know why but all of a sudden my pc doesnt recognize my sd when i connect the phone and mount the card. neither internal nor external pops up. however both kies and pda recognizes the device. ive tried enabling/disabling usb debugging, reboots, etc. when i take my external sd and mount it to my pc via card reader, it picks it up. so theres something going on with my phone thats not letting the pc read it. besides this, everything seems normal. my phone is rooted ke2 w/ stock rom.

[Q] Can't detect internal & SD storage after flashing to 2.3.4 gingerbread

I successfully flashed my atrix from froyo 2.2.2 to gingerbread 2.3.4 following the forum's instructions....problem tho is my phone can't detect internal & sd card storage. Everytime i try to access it, it just keeps saying Internal phone storage is unmounted. mount internal phone storage to read files. I already tried to mount them from recovery settings still no joy....please help!
Anyone???? please help me please
Try this for SD
Connect the phone (Mass Storage) with the SD in via USB and check if 2 partitions are recognized on the PC 1st (internal) and 2nd (SD-not accessible).
While connected to the PC take the cover off atrix and remove SD and slide it back it, if it doesn't see it instantly try again. The phone should say that it has detected the card. You might have to format it if it's not FAT32

[Q] memory card problem

Alright, I have a 2gb memory card which had worked fine until I started rooting my phone and doing all that stuff. Now the phone detects the memory card and it's working fine, but the pc detects that there's some storage thing but doesn't really recognize it. It doesn't even show how much space the card has or anything, it's just disk E. Yes, I do mount the memory card when it asks.
Are the drivers for your device installed on your pc?
I think so, yes. But just in case, where can I get a pc suite or something with the drivers?
I've just tried reinstalling amon ra, and the phone pugged to the pc just fine. I think this happened because of the phone reset. Someone had the same probem and says refashing heped him, but how can I reflash if I can't even put the zip file into the memory card?

Click to collapse
What device do you have?
Vodafone 845/huawei u8120
Try placing your sd card in the card reader on your pc, then putting the rom on it so you can reflash it.
no micro sd card reader in my pc, only sd and others. And I don't have an adapter
sometimes when i connect the phone the memory card gets dec=tected but only for like half a second and then just doesn't recognize it anymore
Anyone? I press mount in the usb setting and the drive appears but when I click on it it says ''please insert a disk to drive J''. I've found some search results via google on this but nothing worked for me. My phone is vodafone 845

[Q] PC boot drive

I have a 4gig thumbdrive I tote around with a persistent version of ubuntu and some other utilities, like ultimate boot cd. Since I always have my phone, I figured why not just use it instead of carrying the thumbdrive.
I have been trying to install the boot installer on my phone's sd card so I could just boot a PC with the phone. The trouble is that if I install the thumbdrive boot files on the external micro sd card there seems to be no way to boot a pc from that drive. If you goto disk drive mode and boot the PC, it only wants to boot to the first USB device, i.e. the internal SD card. I tried the multimount usb app, but that did not help in mounting just the external SD card.
I have installed the boot files on the internal SD card and successfully booted the PC with it, but once the phone is restarted it decides there is something wrong with the internal SD card and it reformats it.
Has anyone tried to use their phone as their PC boot thumbdrive?
I have tried the YUMI and the old fashion single boot on pendrivelinux.com. It matters not whether I select persistent mode.

Formated SD card now cant connect to computer PLEASE HELP

So I checked the settings in the ICS and saw something like clear/format the internal SD I don't remember exactly.
I pressed the button.
Now I cant connect the SGS2 to the computer it just shows me 2 unrecognized partitions.
From recovery in the internal SD card there are 3 folders of the system.
What to do?
Maybe flash a stock ROM?
since you have formated your internal sd, you have a blank drive, since the external sd card depends on the internal.
You need to flash a new rom using odin.
