[Q] white screen with lines - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi...
well im pretty sad cause i dropped my galaxy s2 on the floor(not the 1st time)...this time when i switched it on all it shows is a white screen with crazy coloured lines.i waited a bit and i understood that it booted up.i pressed the power button and the display went off and heard the sound(i assigned it on pressing power button).then i again pressed the power button switching on the phone to its lockscreen and from my memory i pressed that jellybean locksreen buttton and slid my finger.anyways it unlocked and went to the homescreen.later i was able to switch off the phone too....everything works except the screen...
Is it just that my lcd is loose connected or is it damaged and would i need a replacement.
Sorry for the lengthy description if it bored you and my advance thanks to anyone who gives an answer and thanks to xda -for this forum.

Have a very close look at the screen under a not too bright light and see if you can notice any cracks. Sometimes you can barely see them.
If you can't see any, then if I were you I'd open it up and pray to God that it's just the screen connector that's come off slightly. It's a possibility.
Good luck..

Overly sensitive power button?

Has anyone noticed the power button being extra sensitive? That is to say, on the Hero/Evo, you had to hold the power button for at least 2 seconds before the pop-up Power Options menu would display. On my 3vo, it pops up in less than a second. I'm finding it slightly annoying, because the space between "sleep" and "power options menu" is too narrow.
Not mine....

work on reseating the back shell of the phone, i had the issue too at first and i thought it was a defect, but i played with it a couple times and got it to work like a normal power button
Nope not at all, I actually have to press it more than once sometimes and harder the second time for it to work......
yea mine is a lil sensitive...cant have it my pocket because of it..pulled it out a couple times and the phone bouncing around in my pocket opened apps and almost called ppl
Throw an OtterBox on there....
you have to give it a little lovin- WON"T happen by accident.
Also - saved my3D from a nice 5 foot drop courtesy of some Crazy 3 yr olds on the 4th.
mine is like that and I hate it!!!
U guys have cases on the phone? I guess not

I actually find the new power button a little bit better to my liking, a lot easier to find in a blind poweron. But I do agree that it might be a little too sensitive. I've found that the phone turns itself on while in my pocket - which is a bad thing because on shake the led flashlight turns on lol! Of course that kills the battery...
Also when trying to turn on or off... sometimes i see the turn off, reboot menu pop up which just simply put, never happened with the evo og. And while i like the ease of use and how fast it reacts to turning off/on, it seems to be a bit of a problem ATM
not not at all sensitive. it's actually under sensitive. some time i get frustrated because i have to push it so hard in the exact sweet spot just to get it to turn on. after having it for over a week now it's getting better, but at first i couldn't even get the thing turned on.
Not mine in fact mine is kinda hard to push. I'm going to the Sprint store I bought mine from this weekend to see if I can get it switched out because I have light leaking through the ring that surrounds the search key, and it bugs the hell out of me lol. So I hope my new one is gonna be normal.
This happens to me with or without the case. I did have a very brief time where the power button would not respond at all, and discovered that the back was causing it (I had swapped the OEM 8G card for my 32).
I don't think this is a big enough problem for me to try and swap the phone out, although it is a little annoying. I suppose in time I'll learn not to push the power button too long.
I have the same problem with the sensitive power button but I'm on a Samsung Galaxy S. I'm wondering if there is dust in the way... Anybody ever find a fix or diagnose the problem for this? I've seen the same problem across multiple devices on the forums so I am starting to believe its a wear and tear type of thing.
Mine is kinda sensitive. But not as sensitive as the one I saw at my local sprint store. Interesting how it seems like no two EVOS are the same.
Good thing though is that since the button is built into the backcover... Maybe picking up another one can deliver a more sensitive/stiff experience.

Anyone have their screen die on them?

I bought my Prime a week ago and the only problem I've had with it was that it kept locking up and rebooting. No screen problems at all.
Just now I placed it on my bed and it slid off and fell on the ground which is about a 2 - 2.5 foot drop. After that, it seems like my screen is broken. When I press the power button, nothing happens. If I press where I think my screen lock is at and try to unlock it, I hear the unlocking sound. I also hear a sound when I click where my notification tray is at. Even rebooting(by holding the power button and guessing where the "Ok" button is at) doesn't do anything, I don't even see the boot images.
So it seems like my screen is broken. My question is has this happened to anyone else? Where you able to fix it or did you have to send it in? If you sent it in, did you send it to Asus or return it to where you bought it from?
Try hard reset using the hole on the left of the tablet.
It's on page 3 of the manual.

Yup, since I unboxed it (blue). Can't say I really mind though
pebble white not loose at all
It is defective you can probably get it replaced. I am noticing that the pebble blue version has more problems than the marble white.

Bought the S3 the day it launched in Canada and as the provider (Telus) was powering up the first device for my upgrade, I noticed the power button to be loose and rather more flush than previous devices, GNex and Nexus S.
Asked for on spot replacement and the second unit was slightly better with more firm press... The power button still loose..
I also checked out another 4-5 units of white/blue versions and power button feel and "looseness" varies slightly but it is noticeable that it is not very firm...
I wonder if this is on purpose or come quality control issue at first few batches...
Anyone notice that?
mine has that problem too, also the button sometimes stays pressed... however just send it back for an exchange

Hmmm... I have checked out at least 6 GS3's and all still have the same looseness more or less.
However, my friends GS3 is a bit more firm YET we both have the exact same 'press/click' feel once you press it.
Haven't seen it stuck yet but I hope that wont be the case soon...
I wonder how many people have it and not realize it or don't care about it.. or whether there are just a good amount of bad batches..
I don't care about it if this is more common, but that's one shady power button Samsung!
I just exchanged my first S3 for a new one...and I now realize the power button is definitely not as firm. It clicks nicely if I press it dead-on-center but if I miss it a bit it's hard to press. My last one was very clicky and easy to press so this is annoying.
I am now past my 30 day return window...so...anyone figure out how to fix this themselves?
mine is marble white and yes it is a lil loose on the side but don't really effect me when pressing it. the center is firm but the side is a lil lose you can feel it when you slide your finger from one side to another. but i don't mind it.
my power button kinda loose on pebble blue SGS 3 :/ f*ing QC in samsung...
yes but it doesn't affect the phone

Looks like HW issue.
i think thats the conclusion im coming to as i didnt do any thing to before it broke,
If you're not rooted, take it to Service center.
If you're rooted and have a custom rom, they wont accept warranty. Try to open the phone and see if the connector to the screen got loose or something.
Hope it helps...

Galaxy Note 4 is Working, but the screen is black

My phone was working fine when I went to bed last night. I laid it on my night stand and this morning I noticed I couldn't get the screen to light up. The blue LED was blinking like I had messages. The Menu and Back buttons light up when I press them, and I can even hear when someone is calling me, but because the screen will not light up, I can't answer. The phone screen is in near perfect condition, not a scratch or crack on it and I also have a cheap protective screen over it.
Hoping it was just a glitch, I removed the battery and held the power button for about 45 seconds and powered it back on. Same thing, black screen during the entire boot process, no logos or anything. I also tried to boot it in safe mode with same results. There is only one time that the screen shows any signs of life and it only happens when I first power it on. In the top left corner for a split second, where the usual "Bootloader is unlocked" message appears, it displays a small rectangle of colored artifacts inside that small message area.
I assume the LCD went out, but I'm concerned it could also be related to the GPU or other hardware, and so don't want to spend a lot of money buying a LCD if it's something else. I can still connect it to the PC, so I'm hoping someone knows how I can test the hardware from the PC, or at least recommend something. Right now the phone is ringing and I have no idea who it is...this sucks!
