First of all, you need a rom with init.d support (all custom roms have it but not the stock roms) and then an SD Card with ext partition. Before you make the ext partition, make sure to backup all the contents of the SD Card. Now go to CWM> Advanced> Partition SD Card> Size (1 GB max anymore and the system will lag)> Swap (0MB). Wait for it to say "Partitioning Done!". Ok now you have successfully created the ext partition on your SD Card. Now the final step is to install the script. Just download the script from below link and place it in the SD Card. Now boot in to CWM and do Mounts & Storage> Mount /system, then choose "Install zip from SD Card" & choose the required script from SD Card and finally do Mounts & Storage> Format /sd-ext. Reboot and go to Settings> Storage to see you newly increased internal memory.
Cronmod Unofficial / Data2sdext

How to create an sd-ext partition?

I am trying to create an sd-ext partiton so I can move applications and backup to that partition on my 4GB external SD card.
I've got ROM Manager 4.8.0.8 but when I select Partiton SD card it reboots and tries to reformat but I don't see anything on the Card just a LOST.DIR folder. I can't read the system messages when in Recovery mode cos it all happens so fast.
I tried via ADB and booted into recovery and selected the option to partition manually but still nothing. I reformatted the card with FAT32. Nothing.
Am I doing something wrong?
Just throwing something out there. Try rebooting into Clockwork Recovery. In CWR, go to Advanced -> Partition SD Card -> Select the size. If it doesn't work, it shouldn't reboot your device (If I remember correctly). Take a look at the log (Advanced -> Show log).
Hopefully this helps a bit.
Hmmm he's right, you have to flash cwm first.
If your device is not listed in rom manager, find cwm for your device on xda and connect your device to the pc in fastboot mode, extract the zip and copy recovery.zip to the folder where fastboot on your pc is and give the command:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
after flashing cwm,do as suggested
Also, you can partition it by downloading Easeus partition manager on your pc and choose the ext2 partition as the second one and a size of 512 mb is enough in most cases
go into CWM and select advanced thn move onto partition SD card
it would ask u how much space to partition after that select swap size as 642 or above and wait for few minutes.... remember tot ake a backup of ur SD card as all the data would be cleared while partitioning
Thanks. The first problem was that the latest version of ClockworkMod Recovery 4.2 doesn't see my external SD card. No idea why. I used the 3.2 version which does see the external card and formatted the card first (after backing up!!). Then Advanced Partition SD card but I get a message saying : "Too many people have bricked their devices by doing this. Therefore this feature has been disabled."
I tried another Recovery Manager - Rogue Recovery and that showed messages saying it was formatting. I rebooted but when I looked at the SD card - nothing. However, I downloaded Easeus partition manager (looks good) and it showed that there is an sd-ext with a lost+found folder in it.
Is that normal? If yes then why didn't someone say that it would be invisible?!! If not, what happened?
Seems there are problems with the SD card. When I try to point TitaniumBackup to my SD card it sees the folders as Read Only. http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=18559 and http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=18501. It was obviously a bit silly to call internal storage the same name as an external SD card. HD as in hard drive (I know its not) would be better. Or just Storage or whatever. NO doubt people have been accidentally formatting their internal memory instead of the card and that's why it was disabled in Clockwork Recovery. And by the way I'm using the hacked Android 4 - so the problem is still there even in 4 (Ice Cream)
The easiest way to get sd card partitioned is using Mini Partition Tool on PC.
Dikirim dari WT19i gue pake xda premium
Now does cwm also do the ext partition? and if not what program would work well I have a 2gb sd card for my samsung admire and I want to make a ext partition so i can move some more files to it.And later get larger card up to 16gb and do the same.
Thanks,
Doug

Wont Mount SD

Right this desire is starting to become a problem child to say the least -_-, installed gingerburst 1.0.0.3 pre rooted and S-OFF and suddenly it wont mount my sd card itll mount my 8gb one but not my 16gb one and i need the 16gb one. tried reformatting it in recovery and mounting it via tht but i dno if i did it wrong or something. need the sd card partitioned for data2sd so partition sizes and names and info wud be good, thx
in recorvery it also says under mounts and storage tht "mount /sdcard" so it doesnt mount it auto. i tried mounting it then rebooting but wont mount again. i found under advanced in recovery it has partition sd card i formated it n now ive partitioned it using this method biggest vales ext 4096mb so 4gb and w.e the highest one for the other one was. basicly i want this sd card to be partitioned for data2sd to work good desire has very low internal memory and gingerburst is the best sense rom i found
fixed: i re partitioned it in recovery under advanced after formatting it within recovery in mounts and storage then clicked mount within mounts of storage on the sd card then rebooted. need details for partitioning it now
on my sd card it has a linux swap file a fat32partition n an ext2 partition what partition has data2sd got to be? ext 4 3 2 1?
for sdcard u normally have vfat(fat32) filesystem, when using it as data also (data2sd) you should add any ext partition I would recommend ext4 however some roms might not support that (should be very old roms) so you can make it with ext3.
you can use Gparted or MiniTool Partition Wizard to repartition the sdcard. you can check what filesystem is your data partition using 'mount'.
note that you should have some vfat partition left if you want to use it as a normal sdcard.

[Q][SOLVED] My phone says "SD card safe to remove"

I have a X10 mini with mini cm9 3.0.3 and nAa ics kernal v4
And yesterday, I used mini tool partition wizard 7.5 and made FAT32 and Ext4.
It was fine till that time, but I installed Link2SD and created a script. After a reboot, my phone says SD card is safe to remove in the notification panel!
So, I rebooted my phone, reinserted my SD card, went to the setting to mount SD, got into the CWM Recovery, mounted my SD card and fixed permission, but nothing was happened:crying:.
Also, the computer does not detect my SD Card, too.
I went to setting-partition info on my phone and it says:
/sdcard(FAT) 0.00B /0.00B
/sd-ext(EXT) 117MB/ 6.32 GB
even I made my Ext4 only 999MB!
What do I have to do to make my SD work again?
And I cant take a screenshot due to my SD, too. Sorry for my bad English. Thanks in advance!
format the card and partition it in cwm recovery!!
i have the same problem i format the card in settings > storage there will be format sd card option tap on dat to me it format the partition also i have made ext3 partition, it might work for u also...
Thank you!!!

[Q] Memory card incorrect after formatting

My SD Card won't mount from within the Android OS (Custom ROM - TheUltimatum 2.3.7 for Galaxy Ace) yet i can mount it in CWM recovery 5 - even then it doesn't mount the full capacity. This is after i partitioned the card using MiniTool Partition Wizard - One FAT32 and One Ext2. This was in preparation to use Mound2SD to move some of my Apps, Data and Dalvik Cache to the SD Card.
I tried formatting the card using MiniTools, SDFormatter, CWM recovery and within Android but still card mount it.
Anyone with ideas on how i can reformat the whole card back to its full capacity in FAT32 so i can start from scratch?
PS. I don't have access to a desktop machine with an internal card reader.
Solved
I eventually found a solution that was staring me in the face the whole time.
Rebooted into CWM recovery > Advanced > Partition SD Card.

[FIXED] SDCard share the same disk with OS

I'm on Cm13 , flashed the ROM - SU- GApps placing files on SD Card, after installing all the apps from my backup i'm unable to move the apps to SD card all gets dumped in Internal storage.
Code:
"2nd partition is not found , recreate Mount Scipt and reboot and proceed"
a pop up occurs when tried to move apps using App2SD apk. Should i Format and proceed or should i create a partition on SD card using my recovery ?

Yes, you have to back up all your datas from your SD Card to your storage device like PC or using OTG USB
> Remove and format you SD Card using your PC or Format on Phone.
> Insert/Mount your SD Card into your device where there will be a notification - New Storage has mounted hit on settings from notify.
> It will ask for use SD card as internal memory and proceed. (As MM and higher version allow only to write data on SD Card)
> Format and proceed.
> Reboot your device once.
> Grant Root Access from developer potion from Phon settings.
> Use any SD Card moving apps like Titanium Backup/App2SD or any thing from PS.
> Hola, its done.
