i was on stock 4.1.2 and i flashed slimkat 4.4.4 before i flashed slimkat i backuped stock rom but when i go into twrp and click restore it says nothing was found but the backuped rom is still there cause i checked with file explorer how can i restore the stock rom? or do i have to flash stock rom again to go stock?
Depends. The stock ROM has to be backed up using the same recovery as your using. If not then you won't be able to use it.
The best bet is to either flash the previous recovery you used to back up the stock ROM or just do a factory reset and flash the stock ROM again. Make sure you do a backup of your current ROM in case it fails to flash. If it does fail, you'll need to reflash using an older recovery perhaps since Kitkat and Jellybean use different mdsums.

You can use something like MyBackup pro to backup your apps & stuff, but you won't get an 'image' of your setup like you will with a Nandroid backup done in CWRecovery. Or you could probably use Kies I guess (not sure about how this works though, have never used Kies for anything).
Best way to go would be to install CWM then do your backup before you go making any other changes to your phone (like flashing a custom rom). This will give you a backup of your setup as close as possible to it's original state (tho obviously rooted).
If you want to go back completely to stock (no root), all you'd need to do would be to download your original firmware from somewhere like Sammobile.com (until Intra gets his stock firmware collection up and running again) and flash that in Odin. Or you could get the latest stock firmware available for your phone/carrier/country with Checkfus (PC app, search for it on here/Google) flash the tarball you download in Odin.

Don't think CWM backs up your stock recovery just everything else, to revert back to stock recovery you would just have to flash stock firmware but lose root in the process.

Just as addition to MisthaBungle:
1. Flash a kernel containing CWM recovery (such as CF-Root).
2. Create a Nandroid backup in recovery mode (or use CWM Manager app if available).
If you want or have to restore your stock system, you can restore this Nandroid backup, but you will have to flash the stock kernel afterwards in order to replace the insecure/custom kernel containing the CWM recovery.
Alternatively you can do it like bubba949 described:
Just download and flash the latest officially released stock ROM to your phone, if you want or have to go back to stock.
I recommend to do a Nandroid backup before flashing a new kernel/ROM, just to be sure that you are able to go a step back in case something does not work.
So you will have an additional option ;-)
Thanks all of you for your assistance. I'm doing well with my phone since root.

I've installed the ROM Resurrection ICS Pro Edition v1.0.
This ROM does not have clockworkmod.
The Resurrection ROM works okay but i prefer Pure ICS which i have backed up.
I have several ROMs backed up via clockworkmod on my SDcard and want to restore them.
I dont have access to a PC as with this phone i've never needed one.
If theres any way to restore my backed up ROMs please let me know.
Flash CF-root for XXLPQ from odin to have recovery
How do i do that?
Can it be done direct from my phone?
If your phone is rooted, you can use Mobile Odin or one of the many other kernel flashing tools.
If not, allegedly you could use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501719
I managed to get on Pc and flashed a insecure kernel, it was so much easier and faster than I imagined.

Hi,
I have stock firmware with root acess and CWM. I plan to do a backup of it and install a custom ROM. Say later I would like to go back to the stock firmware which I have already backed up, will that be a problem? Or do I need to do something special?
Make backup using CWM and you will be able to get back whenever you want. But if you want warranty back, the rom flash counters must be set to zero.
Google "triangle away" program.
As above and any CWM backup requires stock kernel to replaced rooted kernel after.
Simple is use Triangle Away then flash a stock rom.

Before rooting and flashing CWM I want to backup stock recovery on my Micromax A116 so that I can flash it back if I need to give the phone to service center during warranty period. I could not find method for this neither on XDA nor on google. The method described in this post for any android device does not work for me. All google search results are about flashing stock recovery not about backing it up.
How can I backup my stock recovery? Is there any method for this before or after rooting the phone?
Do the stock ROM backup through CWM or ROM Manager includes stock recovery too, I mean if I root the phone, install CWM and backup stock ROM, in future is it possible to get back (flash) stock recovery from the stock ROM backup? Does restoring the stock ROM (backed up using CWM or ROM Manager) restore the stock recovery as well?
If not, then as a last resort, is the stock recovery for MMX A116 available for download to flash it after restoring stock ROM?

Even I haven't found a way to extract a recovery yet. If you're using the clockworkmod recovery, you have already replaced the stock recovery with the clockworkmod. so it's impossible to make a backup of stock recovery using clockworkmod. I tried extracting through ADB before and it just doesn't seem to work. But If you have the stock firmware (you should have one if you had flashed a firmware through sp flash tools), you'll find the stock recovery there.

Yes finally on not finding a way to backup stock recovery from phone itself, I flashed CWM recovery through Mobile Uncle Tools. I downloaded stock ROM from moulnisky.com, extracted recovery.img from it and flashed it using Mobile Uncle Tools. Stock recovery was back as usual. So finally I was able to confirm that there is an easy way to flash back stock recovery for warranty purpose.
not to worry

So I have a Galaxy S3 i747(at&t) rooted and with an unlocked bootloader. Currently running Cyanogenmod with TWRP recovery.
I'm trying to downgrade back to Touchwiz for the purposes of using an unlock code that AT&T provided me with (apparently it doesn't work with AOSP roms). Any chance I could safely use TWRP to flash the stock rom, and then use TWRP to flash Cyanogenmod back right after?
I've read from here and there that flashing the stock room with an unlocked bootloader and/or flashing the stock room NOT using Odin could brick the phone, etc etc.
Sorry if this question has been answered quite a few times, I've seen quite a few different answers regarding this floating around.
Cheers
You must flash stock ROM via Odin
After root again and flash custom recovery

Guess there is no way to NOT use Odin :/
Do I have to relock the bootloader/unroot the phone before I flash with Odin? Also, will it put the phone back to Stock Recovery or can I keep TWRP?
And one last thing before I go through with this...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2388065
Is this^ a possible way to go back to stock without going through Odin and losing everything? (Remember, I'm just trying to get to a TW based rom so I can use the unlock code). And if so, can I just flash that rom with TWRP?
I dont think that would be possible. ...u have to use odin
Try and backup your data before u do ..if it helps
Your phone may end up in bootloop if u try with twrp
