You cannot update your phone via OTA if you have a custom recovery. You should go stock and then try again.

I just used the pc to update, after a failed verification. Takes little time!

[Q] Failed to update stock firmware

Hello! So i have unlocked bootloader with sony ericsson instructions and rooted with zergrush. I bored to feeling with custom roms that the phone is never "clean" you know un-updated everything doesnt work etc. but the problem is that when i flashed back to stock .42 firmware with flashtool it was unrooted just unlocked bootloader then i got notifaction about ".62" update so i decided to update, it downloaded the thing with wifi and then i clicked "install" and it shutted down, shown something logo that tells that the phone is installing update. after 10 seconds it rebooted and said that "update failed" what should i do to get my neo original state
Since you unlocked bootloader by official way, you can't use SEUS or PC Companion.
I wonder how you didn't end up with bricked phone after you did OTA update
Anw, ether you flash .62 ftf with flashtool, or you re-lock your bootloader by this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1134335
and you can use SEUS or PC Companion after you re-lock it.
Okay Thanks

[Q][P]Unlocking bootloader on JB

Hey guys so to update to JB I relocked my bootloader and update using SUS. Everything worked fine and i was running JB.
Later I tried to unlock bootloader using Sony's official website. The bootloader was unlocked but I was stuck on the boot animation and it refused to turn on even after 30 minutes!
So now I have again relocked bootloader and repaired using SUS but i want to unlock on bootloader on JB..
Has any one tried unlocking bootloader on JB?
I tried unlocking BL on XGO, and it was giving me errors too.. Can't unlock it and I'm searching for an answer.
Anybody else can confirm that BL can't be unlocked on JB?
I wast just thinking of this because of root but now I'm unsure
I just unlocked my bootloader on JB, and after that I faced the same problem - It got stuck at bootanimation!
Working
Guys try relocking your bootloader and unlocking it again :fingers-crossed:
My phone now booted when I tried second time dont no what went wrong the first time
Note: It takes a lot of time to boot so wait for atleast 10-15 mins

Why would you relock your bootloader anyway? Why not just flash a .ftf file using Flashtool?
Isnt it completely useless to relock your bootloader when you will unlock it again later??? i dont get it :silly:

I am unable to unlock it now, it's their any method to unlock it.

Problem applying OTA update after rooting

I am cureently on .532(downgraded to root and backup TA). The thing is I can't apply the OTA. I also tried to temporary unroot the device. I also didn't mess up with any of the system files. The only thing I did after flashing .532 was rooting. Although the update via pc works fine but I want to keep the root.
Thanks

READ THE STICKIES
that said... now that you have backed up the TA the best thing to do is unlock the bootloader, then upgrade to .290 or .136 and flash recovery/kernel and re-root from recovery by flashing SuperSu

To get root on .290 with a locked bootloader follow this guide once you have .532 rooted:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2612980
Then follow this guide to update to .136 (the latest FW):

Question about root and unlock bootloader

I have a new xperia z ultra c6806
Read a lot but still confused. ( Not everybody is made equal )
I want to root and back up TA
1 - My understanding is for backing up TA, i need to be rooted. But for rooting I need to be unlocked. But unlocking will erase the TA information. Am I wrong.
2- If I unlock boatloader can I flash back to pure stock for either warranty or returning the device.
Thanks
C6806 eh?
- Open the dialer and dial *#*#7378423#*#*
- Go to Service Info -> Configuration and check what is says under "Rooting status". Does it say Yes or No?
If it says yes, go ahead and downgrade to 532 and root it using Bin4ry's root tool, backup your TA partition and then unlock the bootloader, update to 757 again and flash Jackie's kernel and flash SuperSU. You can find links and what not here.

Thanks for the reply
It says " Bootloader unlock allowed: Yes
So I guess, I will follow what you are saying
One thing; don't panic when you're noticing that you're not getting any signal at all (cell, WiFi etc.). That's the way it is when you're downgrading the baseband past .290, but you're only going to be on 532 for a short period of time, so it's no big deal. You'll get your signal back once you're back on 757.

So you figured out that you had to use Flashtool? You backed up TA? And you managed to unlock the bootloader and root?
Don't worry, this is a one time thing. The boring stuff is the downgrading and backup of TA, so since you've backed it up, it's done. If you have to relock your bootloader and un-root for whatever reason and you want to root again, you don't have to do this again. You then have to unlock the bootloader and simply flash a kernel.

My issue was downgrading and some driver issues with windows 8. All went well..
However now when I reboot I get this error " System UID's are inconsistent, you need to wipe your data partition or your device will be unstable"
But fixed that using twrp
I cant believe how good quality the phone hardware is.. Was using samsung for the last few years...
I am waiting for the next generation of z ultra and going to get that too.... Wish they introduce qi charging...

[Q] Relocking bootloader and OTA update

When I relock my bootloader, can I update my tablet again by OTA?

you can not. sonys answer:
http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperi...date-OTA-with-unlocked-bootloader/td-p/217515
If you update using any method that isn't a manual flash, be prepared to brick the phone. Re-locking the bootloader is possible.
Just make a backup with Backup-TA (LINK), flash custom rom and if you will come back to stock updated rom just flash stock ftf with flashtool and restore loader
