E10a flashing custom rom while keeping 3G - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Just got an E10a off eBay and PC Companion would only update it to 2.0.1.A.0.47. I think I need 2.1.1 and a specific baseband to flash CM, but I can't use a E10i 2.1.1 FTF or I will lose the 3G connection.
I just wanted to verify, from my reading here, that if I wanted to flash miniCM10 I should flash chavito's E10a rom with the appropriate baseband (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1294579) then unlock the bootloader and flash after that?

Yes, and make sure your phone isn't locked to a provider, the bootloader unlock may disable the entire radiochip (2G/3G). You can unlock the bootloader, boot into the ROM and see if you get signal, if you don't you have to lock the bootloader again.
(If you play with flashtool, DELETE the10blrelock.ftf from the flashtool/firmware folder, it will hardbrick your phone if flashed accidentally)

Thanks for the quick reply! Carrier unlocking is the other question I have. I've tried a couple of places to get the IMEI-based unlock code, but none of them can find it. So I'm thinking of getting a USB unlock from this place:
https://www.fastgsm.com/en/sonyericsson/xperia-x10-mini-e10i/unlock-network/flashing-debrand
It says that it will carrier unlock AND unlock the bootloader as well. So I should use that unlock service after I flash chavito's ROM but before I flash miniCM10?

I don't know if your phone is locked to a provider, or which one if it is. The site you refer to says it can only do it for a limited number of countries and providers, but it don't list which ones up front, so be careful with that. If sim-cards from different providers work on your phone, just skip that and unlock the bootloader using flashtool. But yes, you should first flash that latest firmware before you unlock the bootloader.

[Q] Bootloader unlock and Omnius

Hi all.
I need/want to bootloader unlock my friends X10 that is (currently) running the latest stock firmware. It is currently running 3.0.1.G.0.75 Orange UK branded firmware, but by the time Im done with ready for flashing kernels and ROMs, it will be running 3.0.1.G.0.75 generic UK (either by editing the build.prop or flashing it with flashtool should multiupload.com suddenly become online again - but thats minor details as far as I can tell)
Unfortunately when my friend brought the phone, it was SIM locked (to orange as far as Im aware (its a white one and "supposed" to be "orange exclusive")) so I have unlocked it using Omnius as my friend uses O2.
After discovering how much nicer my X10 Mini Pro is with a custom ROM on it, he too has decided to take to the custom ROM route.
However, most of the ROMs now appear to rely on a custom kernel or an unlocked bootloader for obvious reasons.
I have installed the latest flashtool (Flashtool version 0.6.7.0), and noticed about the "plugins>unlock bootloader" . Even more curious, I decided to open the folder where it is installed, and noticed in the custom\features\UnlockBL\files\qsd8250 directory, there is a file called qsd8250bootwrite_omniusSL (along with setool's and SEMC's ones obviously) and what appears to be various scripts, which I assume checks for the type of certificate, then flashes what it needs to the phone.
My main questions are:
1 If I unlock using flashtool, would the radio signals stop working?
2 Will this affect the unlock status of the phone? Example: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19322815&postcount=224
I have tried searching for just about anything to do with omnius and bootloader unlocking, but only to find that Ive gotten lost in so many threads saying different things, Im not sure what to believe any more
I know this is for a different chipset (well, its a different phone) but just a taste of what I have found out:

1 Its unlocked the bootloader fine as far as I can tell; I havent actually installed a custom kernel (or a custom ROM for that matter) yet as I have yet to choose one - and yes I know theres a custom kernel already in flashtool. I dont seem to have any problems with signal on the phone using the stock firmware.
2 Phone seems to have kept unlocked. However at the moment I dont have another SIM to test it with, but the service menu certainly suggests that it hasnt lost its unlock.
Hope this helps someone else!
I'd like to confirm that if you SIM unlock with Omnius, you should definitely BLU with the latest Flashtool since it is compatible with Omnius. If you try any other BLU method (SEMC, Setool2), you WILL lose radio and the only way to get radio back is to SIM unlock with Omnius again.
Since then, I have been able to flash stock and custom ROMs/kernels successfully, while maintaining a working radio.

unlock bootloader on sim locked phone?

I have read around but found no answer..
Some say its impossible some say its possible can some one tell me for sure if its possible and if it is how would I do it?
And in the service menu it says "Bootloader unlock allowed: No"
used the GENERIC rom 042
Bootloader unlock allowed: YES
and use omnius

And how do i do that..
To flash other ROM, you can try WotanServer or Flashtool, last one requires correct files, WotanServer needs, that you only pick, which version of firmware you want(and free account).

Yes you can do it in stock with Wotan server but take into account that this process only changes the firmware version you are on for a generic one from se maybe a newer one but nothing more after this you still won't be able to flash custom kernels or roms unless you unlock your bootloader and fast boot.
You can try the unofficial way for the bootloader and it might work I cannot warranty it but it will not be that good as most of the roms need they own kernels and you will need access to fastboot mode to do that, unfortunately you need to completely unlock your phone either with omnius or setool to gain access to fastboot and this will cost you some money.
How can flashing that 042rom allow bootloader unlocking??
Just for the hell of it, i flashed my mini pro with that rom and it has not let me unlock the bootloader at all so im a little confused here

Man that is why I hate when people just write for the like of it!!! @ seansmit17 this is not with you I hope you know what I mean.
If you have the message unlock bootloader allowed: no; then it means your phone is sim locked this will lock the fastboot mode too so you will not be able to flash a custom kernel unless you unlock the sim and fastboot mode (connecting the phone turned off and holding the volume up key to the computer = blue notification led with turned off screen and phone), the only means that I know off to unlock is either omnius or setool, this is for the sim and fastboot and it is not free.
For the bootloader you can use the test point method found in the development section, of course I can't guarantee it will work and of course this will NOT UNLOCK YOUR SIM OR FASTBOOT MODE BUT ONLY YOUR BOOTLOADER.
When you install a generic firm with Wotan server it is like a seus upgrade and nothing else well it will allow you to get the last upgrades when they come out due to a change in product code but that's it. The same with flashtool but without the change in product code.
Hope it helps.

Hardware or Software failure

Hello,
I am only user, so no detailed knowledge about Android. But I am able to read instruction, so I've flashed often ROMs and also Kernel without problems.
(BTW - nice forum - and thanks to all developers to give us the chance to modify mobile phone)
Last time after flashing CM7.22 + nAa-Kernel (I flashed without SIM inside) I had no GSM after inserting SIM-Card. All other functions works normally (in Stock-ROM only in flight mode - in normal mode it hangs).
After that I tried several things:
- PC Companion Repair - so flashing Stock ROM
- SEUS flashing Stock Rom
- Bootloader unlock
- Root again
- Other Kernel /ROMs
- Flashing Stock-ROM with bootloader
All time no GSM. Can I do anything else ? Can it be Software failure, or maybe random Hardware failure, happens just when I flashed....?
Has somebody an idea ? Or is it bricked ?
X10 MINI or MINI PRO?
Also, if your deviced was branded (I mean if it has some carrier's label on your phone or apps pre-installed) and supposing you unlock bootloader, the GSM gets disabled. When you flash stock, bootloader gets patched and you have GSM again, I think or you've lost it forever and you need to recover it with
Also please, post in the correct section, this is a Q/A thread.
A known quote from SpyderX
If the simlock certificate specified is SEMC SIMLOCK CERTIFICATE, or anything other than NOT RECOGNIZED SIMLOCK CERTIFICATE, or if you are sure you sim-unlocked your phone using Omnius, jump to step 3.
If the simlock certificate specified is NOT RECOGNIZED SIMLOCK CERTIFICATE, you can't unlock the bootloader of your phone. If you try, radio capability of your phone will be disabled (this has been reported to be untrue by a number of people who claim to have unlocked bootloader successfully with msm7227_semc.cmd).
Do note that the SIMLOCK certificate doesn't mean that you have/don't have a sim lock on your phone.

Note that radio capability is the GSM.

In fact, bootloader was never unlocked, it was backdoored patched, thus, when you flash stock the patch is replaced with stock "file" resulting a "bootloader lock".
Your argument is totally invalid. I had unlocked bootloader, flashed back to stock and bootloader was locked, I couldn't flash kernel. So I unlocked again.
I can confirm you are wrong, because I did many tests on bootloader locking/unlocking.
No offence,
Thank you.

I don't meant to prolong this out of place thread, but..
How do you unlock your bootloader ? When I unlock it using flashtool, I never got mine locked again, even after flashing back to stock rom / kernel using flashtool or SEUS as well... I can just flash another kernel after SEUS-ing it, without the need to unlocking it again. .
How can your phone locked itself again ?

I never used FlashTool for bootloader unlocking, always the old traditional way of patching bootlaoder with s1tools.
Unlocking with FlashTool might be the issue. I can't tell how to lock it again, I only know that this is due to FlashTool.

Hi,
at first so good news - phone works - very good feeling to write this !!!
I posted my problem in Q/A-section (sorry again for posting my question here first).
Roughly explained I got hints - so I flashed Stock-ROM again, then I relocked bootloader with S1tool, and suddenly phone works correctly.
I don't know what and when I did a failure with the result of GSM failure. But problem is solved. So thanks to all who has tried to help.

[Q] X10a Flash Stock, Unlock, and Root

Ok. I have searched for hours and hours with no result. I have a Sony Ericsson X10a ATT labeled phone. i got it booting to the Xperia logo and no further. I was able to get the global generic x10i rom flashed to it so it would at least boot into android. it does not have a signal and says the sim will not work with att network. what ive done:
Flashed Global generic x10i 2.1a rom with flashtool 0.8 (the only stock firmware link that works)
Rooted with flashtool
s1tool reports NOT RECOGNIZED SIMLOCK CERTIFICATE
Ive tried to force SPCC to flash stock rom
Update service says its up to date
I can get it into flashmode no problem, it does boot normally into android, i can get into recovery with cwm5
it has no signal as of now.
Flashtool reports it as rooted.
I need to get this thing at least back to stock and working with a north american at&t sim card. if i can get a custom rom, great, if not ill deal with stock. if its SOL, its going thru the chipper
my hat is off to developers and programmers but I can do without the "you should of done this or that." i really appreciate any help. i just need to get it working thanks in advance

If you have NOT RECOGNIZED SIMLOCK CERTIFICATE in s1tool then you shouldnt unlock bootloader. If u do so you lose your signal which cannot be recovered by usual flashing methods like going to stock.

There are three safe circumstances in which you can unlock your bootloader:
1: You bought your phone sim-unlocked, in which case it's got a simlock-certificate by sony-ericsson
2: You sim-unlock your phone using an unlock code from your carrier (emma/imei-code), usually free after your initial contract-period
3: You sim-unlocked your phone using Omnius (or something similar)
I just bought mine without a contract, it wasn't that expensive, about a year after they came out, so i've got no carrier lock-in, which is a bonus. Apart from that, sim-unlocking your phone using a code from your provider is the safest way to do things.
Flashtool will unlock your bootloader, but s1tool will give you the information you need to know if it's safe.
