While browsing sites for a deal on the new Droid Razr, I found, 1. verizon wireless is going to announce black friday deals on their phones tomorrow 2. for a limited time you can get double the data for the same price (2gb = 4gb still $30, etc) 3. You can combine any or all of the verizon wireless deals with a 10% off monthly discount from studentrate.com (Verizon Discount)
I'm going to be adding a line to my existing account and I wonder if most of verizon's black friday deals will be for new customers only. I was also trying to decide between the Thunderbolt or the Razr. The Razr is like brand new so I expect it would be better. Anyone have one?
Razr has been great for me. Got it the day it came out & have no problems with it at all.

RAZR is an awesome device. There's absolutely no comparison with the Thunderbolt (maybe the Rezound).
If you're getting a new line and/or contract, go Amazon. From now until Monday all of their phones are $0.01, including the RAZR. They are also doing the double-data deal on Verizon, so $30 for 4GB.

Yep, that is what I did. I getting out of TMO...got 5 phones out for delivery today. 1 Razr, 1 Bionic, 3 Thunderbolts. Razr is for me.
Wow, I just saw you can get the same Verizon discount I mentioned about, if you order from Amazon Wireless, which until 11/28 is selling all Verizon, Sprint and AT&T phones for $0.01 (new lines only). Score!
I was looking at the Bionic too! What made you choose Razr over Bionic?

I can't think of a single reason to purchase the Bionic over the RAZR. The RAZR is the newer of the two handsets from the same manufacturer. It's faster, thinner, lighter, has a better display, and a better camera. The only downside (for some) is the battery is non-removable. You can still hard reset, but you can't swap for another battery. If you use extended batteries, that may be an issue. If not (I never have), it's a non issue.
The real choice is the RAZR vs. the HTC Rezound. I went for the RAZR because I like Motorola's build quality and I prefer AMOLED screens. The Bionic isn't even in the running.
Is it possible to buy on-line GSM version of it in the US (New York for faster shipping)?
Looks like Amazon had too many purchases and now the deal is gone. But I found that Wirefly is giving free activation, free shipping, and a free car charger with Verizon purchases.. Wirelfy Deal

Is there a battery issue with the Razr that you would want to get an extended battery?
To get the 10% deal I see you can use Amazon, Wirefly, or the Verizon site...but will you still be able to take advantage of the double data special through wirefly or amazon?

It might be dead from Amazon, but I'm pretty sure it's still alive direct from Verizon. I just upgraded my data plan today and they're still offering the 2x.
I just checked Amazon, it's still available.
Just checked Amazon, double data is still available. Does anyone know when Verizon is going to expire that special?

I asked a VZW rep (which really doesn't amount to much, so take this with a grain of salt), but he seemed to think that the double data promotion would be around through the holidays.
Hopefully the rep was right. It would make sense to keep the promo going for the holidays.
This thread is dedicated to the Unites States Verizon version.
Things to include:
1) SoC / Processor
2) Color Schemes offered (aside from blue/white)
3) PRICING!
4) Any alterations from International Version (for example, if it has no home button, etc.)
5) Pricing for Verizon accessories for SIII
Also, include any other info I may be leaving out. Please provide links to your sources. Thank you!

Speculation I suppose.
I read back around May 3 that "ALL the major US Carriers were doing everything they can to get this phone" or something along those lines.
Let be honest here Verizon is going to get it they are the 2nd largest US carrier and the only reason they didn't get the GSII was because of the Galaxy Nexus....and they fudged that up big time.

The Sprint version was better than the international in every way.
SCH-1535 at the Bluetooth Special Interest Group
Looks like it may not be too long until we see the Verizon version after all.
Regardless, the US Version of the SGSII was/IS still a beast of a phone. But back on topic...
I'm assuming SGSIII is coming to the US in LATE june? Any thoughts?
Okay - at least nobody knows for sure like I don't know. I'm hoping for a Verizon version. It would be amazing to get a quad core LTE SoC from Samsung, but likely I'm expecting it to be the dual core S4. Either way I'm all over this phone if it arrives for Verizon.

Unfortunately, currently there's no chance of a quad core with LTE from verizon. The ABSOLUTE BEST we'd get is an Exynos 5 processor, but I highly highly HIGHLY doubt it It's meant for tablets.
So, having said that, the next "best" that a phone like that would support is the S4 :/ I'd honestly rather have a 3G quad core I think. I'm not sure though, tough choice.

What exactly is happening to the data plan...? I read about it somewhere a while back, but unfortunately didn't pay attention to it much.
I currently have a family plan, and my phone has unlimited data and texting, but the family plan has like 700 minutes or something... Not entirely sure, as I do not use calling much.

Well for me, switching to the SIII is a massive upgrade of hardware over my Epic 4G, even if it is the S4. And switching from Sprint to Verizon will be a monster upgrade in the network. I have to switch to Verizon, just waiting for this phone to do so.....

the shared data plan verizon is forcing on people is going to kill the unlimited data plans for grandfathered people
which allows you to share your tiered data plan (2Gb, 4Gb, etc.) with your entire family or devices on your plan
once your contract is up and want to upgrade your phone, you will not be allowed to keep the unlimited data. unless you want to pay the full price of your new phone you can keep it.
verizon has not said when the shared data plan will come in too effect, but only "this summer".
so i am hoping verizon holds out long enough until sgs3 comes out

I'm now seeing this choice for myself as well. Where I live and where my wife works, there's only 3G available on Verizon. Where I work and during most of my commute 4G LTE is available. I'm not sure that I want to give up the quad core just for part-time LTE usage that will drain my battery more anyways....
Dang it! Not sure how I will go about it either now.

Sounds like the quad-core is the best for your situation too. BUT... I heard that the international version doesn't work with Verizon or AT&T. Maybe they just meant "Compatible with 4G" for those networks, I'm not sure... But look into it a bit more to make sure, I don't see how it wouldn't work with standard 3G cell towers
Who else is psyched about this phone? I'm pre-ordering it as soon as VZW lets me!
My nexus will be rememberd
I can't wait for this. Been looking for a new phone for the past few months and have waited to see when this comes out. Hopefully in June! Gotta get off my Motorola crap.
Just a question i thought someone on here may know the answer to.
Does anyone have any information or anything that hints at the fact of the RAZR Maxx HD coming to the UK?
I already have a RAZR but ive always wanted a RAZR Maxx, and now the addition of this phone to the US market has got me very excited and hoping it will make its way to the UK, even though they seem to be changing the specs of phone over here (UK) compared to over there. (US)

I certainly hope so - the RAZR i, which is a modified RAZR M (as opposed to HD) really isn't very interesting at all. Since the RAZR HD uses the MSM8960 SoC it has more or less global support for LTE as well, so getting it over here shouldn't be much a of problem. I'm guessing they have a deal with the US carrier to keep it exclusive for some time.
I hope so too, I mean I was looking at getting the RAZR i but then when I found out its only a single core (admittedly at 2.0 Ghz) and the same screen which the RAZR already had I was a bit disappointed with it, and switching on to T-Mobile now so I can get 4G I am hoping it does come out in the UK because I shouldn't take much to get it to work over here

I'm gonna pick one up next month ($650+tax for the device iirc).
I think the LTE won't work here (it's probably the 700/1700/2100 version, but with the latter two disabled), but after seeing EE's pricing and usage allowances, I have zero interest in an LTE service right now!!

I think exactly the same, i was under the impression that T-Mobile and Orange was going to be took over by EE then an upgrade for compatible devices to 4G LTE service. Thats why i switched to T-Mobile. Then when i found out you have to have a separate contract for like £30 a month for like 500mb I instantly thought forget that. Im pay £21 a month for unlimited minutes, texts and data, it'll do me for now
I actually asked Motorola this and they have no plans to bring the Razr Maxx HD to Europe (would post the link but I can't being a newbie.

I've just bought a Razr Maxx, because I simply couldn't get a Maxx HD or they were ridiculously expensive. I have a HTC One X, but the battery life is just so poor and I tend to travel a lot. The Razr i just isn't very impressive and I wanted the battery life. Ordered it from ValueBasket. Free delivery and it came all the way from Hong Kong! So were these phones just simply never released in the UK?
I had a HOX before but sold it due to the horrendous battery life. Tegra 3 + 1800mAh battery = failure.
Maxx HDs go for a reasonable amount on eBay, but obviously there's the risk of getting stung with import duty...
But would the Maxx HD work properly in the UK?
I am toying with the idea of bringing one back with me from the USA. Turns out you can buy one from Amazon sim-free, but it will still have the Verizon logo on it (which I don't really care about, as long as it works properly on O2 over here!)
Should work fine - it's SIM unlocked outside of America. There's a thread here called "Maxx HD in Europe" or something with loads of people reporting success with it.

Where did you get yours mate? Looking on Ebay right now (UK) someone is trying to sell one for £895!!!!! Jesus. Then £683 from the States and as you say, there's a BIG risk of being hit by import duty.
I've just looked on Amazon.com - now showing as $99 - but looks like you need to take a contract with Verizon
Why won't they release this phone in Europe!!!! I think would be a sleeper hit once everyone worked out the battery life is awesome....as I understand it.
Is Jellybean on the Razr Maxx...yet?
If this is to be believed, VZW is going to carry the One along with the rest of the U.S. carriers. That's fantastic news for HTC as they've accomplished (selling the same device on all four U.S. carriers) what Samsung did with the SGS3 which was one of the cornerstones of its success. And HTC really needs some success. It also explains the appearance and disappearance of a red version of the One off of HTC's website.
"It looks like HTC’s One really will be the one flagship for the Taiwanese phone maker. When HTC announced the phone last month, it said the One would be sold at AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile. A mention of Verizon was noticeably absent. However, Verizon will also carry the high-end Android device according to a source familiar with the situation. Its launch at Verizon, though, will trail the other U.S. carriers by a month or two as it winds its way through the testing process. HTC and Verizon representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment."http://allthingsd.com/20130313/exclusive-htc-one-headed-to-verizon-too/
So do you think it'll be offered alongside the DNA or are the two devices too similar?
Even though I went from a DNA to a Note 2 and now back to a DNA, I will be buying the One the very minute it is available for Verizon. How's that for impact?
or just do this http://blog.htc.com/2013/03/htc-one-developer-edition/
If it does come to verizon and if I can sell my DNA on ebay for $600 then yes I may get it. If not then no
I have a feeling the resale value of the DNA might plummet when the One hits. Not saying the DNA isn't an amazing phone, but if you have to pick one of the two at similar prices... The only thing I can think of that would really retain the DNA's resale value would be if yours is already unlocked / rooted / s-off. Considering the post-OTA (and all new) phones cannot achieve this yet, I think it'll be a surge to the price for phone that already are unlocked.

With my ebay skills 80% will sell $600.
20% it wont if my skills fail.
Also who knows what the outright price for the one will be if it does come to VZW.
It has very little impact to me as I love my DNA.
Sure people complain of battery life but I get a full day out of mine usually, they complain about only having 16 GB of internal memory but I use Spotify for my music and Drive for my pictures and most places I frequent have wifi. My 8MP camera takes lovely pictures and I already have a quad core processor with 2 GB of RAM. Speaker mode on the DNA is fabulous.
Also, I love having a pocketable 5 inch 1080p device.
Fyi I got a DNA that was used for a week off Craigslist for 425 with two cases and wireless charger...so remember that eBay will take fees from the seller...I just sold an iPhone 5 on eBay for 560 and eBay took 50 bucks just for the damn sale..and then PayPal takes 2% or something too...so yeah.

That phone will work in the U.S.data wise on Verizon in an LTE area (at this point NJ is almost fully blanketed where I live)....who uses their phone to talk anyway? LOL
And once Verizon implements VOLTE, you could in theory use that phone on Verizon here. So if this was 2014 that phone would be perfect!

depends on if they carry multiple storage versions...iirc there are 16/32/64 variants (though i actually havent seen a 64gb variant for sale) for the htc one
so it *might* be something like 599/699/749 or some variation in there off contract
on contract would probabaly be 199/299 of 16/32 which is what id assume verizon would carry (just a guess)
and dna would probably drop to 149 or 99 on contract directly from verizon....probably 49 or free on 3rd party websites

Same here. I had to list it 3 times too before the buyer actually came up with the money.
On thing to remember if your going to sell ANY phone your not going to make a profit. It just makes getting a new phone a little better.
I will be getting the One I have two upgrades available in October so I should be able to get it in September. I hope thats when its released. The developer edition I think is BS pretty sure guys here on XDA will be able to crack the One without me paying extra.
I found a link that compares DNA to One camera check it out http://pocketnow.com/2013/03/13/htc-one-camera-vs-droid-dna-camera#!prettyPhoto
I'm actually happy with my DNA (understatement) and since Sense 5 will be sent to the DNA the only two things that will make me get the new Verizon HTC One (Probably being named the DNA+) would be better battery life and availability in white other than that I doubt that I will be swayed

Hi Everybody,
I'm debating whether to make the jump from my aging Galaxy Nexus (VZW) to the LG G2 (VZW).
Can anyone tell me if they have experienced LTE-Advanced yet, and what it feels like in the real world? (I think its live in NY)
Thank you
still wondering

Just wondering if you made the jump? Also wondering if you found out anything about LTE-Advanced?

I haven't done it yet. Still can't bring myself to leave a Nexus for another phone.
Although this might change... the dropping price of the lg-g2 on vzw is becoming more and more tempting...
jump time

I did read that until 11 Nov you can get the G2 free by ordering it online and using VZWDEAL code. I used that code last month when it was $200 and got 30% off. I have the Motorola Bionic and didn't plan to change, but the unlimited data glitch and 30% off code got me. Now when I use my Bionic it seems so small, so slow, and I'm really glad I jumped. If you are eligible for an upgrade you are losing about $22 a month by not taking a new phone. Verizon gives no discount for being paid off, so it's cheaper to jump.
Likes for G2:
Root
TWRP or CWM
Xposed Framework and modules
Camera
XDA forum support
Wireless charging
LG add on features
unlocked SIM
GSM frequencies
OTG support
low cost cases
battery life
solid 4G
Custom ROM are available
I understand your hesitation.
I also have a GNex and unfortunately mine was really starting to show its age.
I had been eyeing the G2 but finally made the jump with the recent price drop combined with the promo code to make the phone free.
I don't regret it at all. There's a significant speed/battery life difference. And surprisingly, not much of a size difference.
I second this. I came from a genx with unlimited data to 6g now. I don't regret it. I have been using for a week now and my battery has gotten better.
Off charge this morning with light use throughout the day, few pics at my daughters soccer game, light browsing through out the day and I am around 50% as I type this message.
I also no nothing of lte advanced. I am in a smaller town so unless it is wide spread deployment, I don't have it here.

How is it hard to go from the AWFUL galaxy Nexus to an AMAZING G2?
I wrny from gnex to G2 just last wednesday. I must say that with all due respect to the Galaxy Nexus the lg g2 makes the gnex feel like a flip phone.
Battery life, screen brightness, screen resolution, camera, processor speed, overall feel of software speed through stock rom is nothing short of spectacular. I have rooted my g2 but i have yet to put a custom rom causr i wanna give stock a shot. However, either custom or stock rom this cell phone is leaps and bounds ahead the Galaxy Nexus.
As far as LTE-A i have no idea.

LTE Advanced is not live, nor is it in testing. Tech blogs/news sites lied, it is the AWS spectrum being tested. Currently it is only to be available in certain east coast areas. LTE Advanced is supposed to be nearly double to triple what AWS accomplishes, and at a better frequency.

All of this info is awesome. Thanks guys. I think I'm gonna get it.

Lol I know. Just went to Verizon's site and it says that G2 is sold out. Oh well. I'm afraid of purchasing it through Amazon because of my unlimited data.

Verizon is currently having a promo where you can get 6GB of data for $30/mo. You may want to consider taking this deal as the manager of my local Verizon stated that unlimited data plans will soon be bumped down to tiered data plans, regardless if you upgrade or not. Much like what AT&T is doing soon..
I called tech support yesterday to report a Web site issue. Tech who helped me went way out of his way to help me upgrade two unlimited lines to the g2. I managed to upgrade one using another line's upgrade (which extended that line's contract only four months), upgrade the second using promotions/employee discount, and keep unlimited on both lines. I didn't get the $50 sale, but it was a lot less than full retail ($450). I got two g2's for about 300. I'd highly recommend going to the Verizon store and or calling sales/support first. They have some employees that care more about the customer than Verizon's bottom line. Of course they have some that tell you to go to shared contract or buy full retail so they don't have to go through the trouble too.

i believe LTE-A is only available in internationala areas, like in Korea. not sure if its here in US though. AWS is available in some areas, specifically NYC. my friend has an S4 and after upgrading his radios, he is able to get AWS speeds. not sure if G2 will get new radios for AWS anytime soon though.
as for jumping from GNEX to G2, you will notice the huge difference. better in every way. i was waiting for the N5 but after reading the early specs that it was going to have 2300mah battery compared to G2's 3000mah, i jumped on the G2. even after N5 release, i would still stick with the G2. battery and screen (thin bezels) are the winners for me. i also kept my unlimited data while paying the subsidized price so i'm definitely happy.
Kept unlimited data?

During the first "unlimited" glitch late September I got my G2, but how did you get Verizon to let you keep unlimited data? I actually have major problems activating my G2 and had to use 2 other Verizon 4G phones to activate the micro SIM card to get the G2 on Verizon network. I actually don't know if I swap SIM cards if I'll have a working phone or not, but after 3 phone swaps I quit swapping.
If your on vzw this is the phone to get. Its this or wait 6 months lol. The HTC one is great but the battery life is just ok and the capacitive buttons are plane stupied. The s4 and note 3.. I'll always pass on tw. Its just a really bad Rom. Moto x. That would have been my next phone but they just can't get a decent camera! Leaving the g2. Is Is imo the best of the bunch. I've had it for 2 months? Give or take, and freaking love it. I think knock on is the most innovative feature of any 2013 phone. Active display is pretty ingenious too lol.

The extremely helpful guy from verizon tech support is going to activate both phones once they arrive...I have five lines with verizon; two with unlimited, one is house, and last two are basic feature phone lines. From what I understand from him is that we are going to activate the two G2's on the basic lines, then switch them over to the unlimited lines. He managed to get me the sale prices as well! Two G2's with unlimited for about $160 after rebates and account credits. Hopefully it all pans out. I'll know for sure Friday, but he sounded confident and indicated he has done this a few times before. He had me talk to his supervisor as well and he sounded like he was cool with the whole process.
