hello, I have galaxy note 2 rooted with 4.4.2 kitkat .. I installed sdfix to regain my writing permissions on external sd card. at first it worked perfectly for almost 2 weeks , then i lost my permissions again and i tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app and putting back the original platform.xml file and doing the same operation again but no use ! .. I tried 2 xposed modules to get back the permissions . they work only for one time then i can't do anything with my ext sd card again .. any idea why ? and why i can only use my ext sd card once then lose control again ? . help please ..

dont know if this is the right place to post my question but since im a noob the forum doesn't let me post anywhere else and this is the first time ive posted here because i usually find what im after in this forum so thanks for that !
ive read alot about the Read Write issues being experienced with Google's Android unwilling to let you use your external SD card for storage of Apps and writing to it , ive followed some tutorials about the net and even tried jamisons pre-rooted Rom for SM-T120 and everytime i get nowhere with it all .. my tab3 is now rooted but i cant write to the card .. is this going to be possible or does anyone know something i haven't tried ...
so i will tell you what ive tried for now
editing permissions.xml
loading the pre-rooted firmware
changing permissions to vold.fstab file
is there something out there !
thanks for any suggestions and help .. much appreciated Paul :good:
im running 4.1.2 Android Version and its Rooted - Build JZ054K.T210XXAMG2
I think that is not enough. I did the same ... in my research I came across the void.fstab in some devices is possible in the galaxy 3 do not know what the correct code.
I found universal files vold.fstab, but without success

I may have just found a solution , the root method is fine by jamison ... then once that has been flashed and the tablet has restarted , go into oden again and flash the CWM recovery the same way as you do for the pre rooted firmware .. then follow these instructions i found posted by stefan !
Ok, I fixed the issue:
- Mounted USB storage (external SD) in CWM
- Backed up all files from my external SD (except a strange folder named µATA, which could not be read at all)
- Formatted the external SD under Windows
- Copied back my files to the external SD
- Restarted Android
Now the external SD is mounted r/w. Also in Root Explorer I can see that the external SD is r/w and not r/o as before.
hope this works for you as i think its working for me as ive just been able to delete a folder from widows via the USB cable .. where i didnt have access before

The device recognizes the sd as storage for apps?
I always had access to my sd on windows with USB cable, except in recovery, i use the TWRP, in recovery i can't mount SD with USB cable, but i think is an issue of TWRP or CWM.
My problem is to enable the move app to sd or recognize it has internal memory. I know that in SGS3 is possible to recognize sd card as internal memory changing the script in vold.fstb, in tab 3 it should not be so different.
PS: is a shame... i can't post links yet .

yes i could see the SD external card in windows but i could not write to it in windows or delete any folders or files in windows .. but with the method used posted above i can write to the Ex sdcard and delete with no write access problems at all ... i updated to the latest firmware tonight to see if it was still working but it didnt and became like it was before ... so i tried to just flash the recovery file back on it again only and now i have access to the SDcard again and its again rooted ! ... no changes to any file
how did you root yOur device? can u give me a link please... am using tab 3 Sm T210 and ver 4.1.2
Hey guys.
As you might know , we , kitkat 4.4.4 users can't install app in our sd card , so I'm here to ask if someone know a way to get the possibility.
I'm pretty new into phones and android , so it's a bit confusing for me. Do I have to install a custom ROM ? Do I have to wait for lolipop ?
Good night.
U will have to root ur device then install folder mount app to move all your data to SD card
Even though you have to inform yourself first very well, using Xposed and a module called XInternalSD works perfectly for apps that can occupy a lot of space on the Data folder, which can be just moved to the External SD Card.
I'm having some problems as I need to move some obb files from my SD to my internal memory. I've been told to use foldermount but after successful install it does not load and just says there was a problem. I tried to use gl to sd as an alternative but even though I have given it permission with supersu it says it cannot find my micro SD card. I have checked that my root is working with root checker, tried uninstalling and reinstalling, tried restarting my device but nothing I can think of helps.
I have a Acer E380, android version 4.2.2, kernal version 3.4.5.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Hey I saw your post in the root essentials forum . I was having same problem . I have Samsung j7 perx j727p. When it was on nougat I had root and adoptable storage . I updated to oreo 8.1 Feb 2019 . I got twrp and root working . I've tried root essentials but have same problem as you . I did set sd card as default storage but it didn't work . I've tried xposed framework, and adb , build prop editor , all kinds of stuff.
I found External 2 Internal root apk . I didn't get the results in videos I watched. I've downloaded 3 large apks and using es file explorer see that they went to sd card with just a small amount going to internal . Oh forgot to mention I moved my emulated folder to my sd card to see if that helps .
With that External 2 internal apk I tried swapping numbers of my public card 179,65 with my internal sd 179,64 . That didn't seem to work.
Tonight I changed the Original Internal Mounting point which was /mnt/sdcard, to /mnt/storage/XXXX-XXXX where X is the number of your external sd card . I then hit swap . Now my playstore apps are going to sd card. Device storage doesn't show it as internal memory , but es file explorer shows which one is getting the largest part of the apk . I also restarted phone and it still works . This is closest to adoptable I've gotten .
Oh on side note the App manager apk shows that the new download can be moved to sd card but most of it already is on there. Hope that helps .
I had to format my data after making some foolish changes to my phone . Luckily I had just backed it up with Samsung cloud. It took awhile and when I turned on phone I had even more internal data as everything was on sd card . However when I tried downloading my internal memory started decreasing . I went to External 2 internal app and did my setting . It didn't work !
I just got it back working. I think it is combination of all I had done including Xposed framework . I have some pictures of apps and settings .
Shows my adoptable storage in My files and Drives apk
In the Drives apk its showing my storage card number under phone internal pic and the phones actual internal is shown under the micro sd symbol. I thought was cool . I have 128 gig sd card now showing as internal . Hope this helps some people . Im going to try on my gf phone later .
adoptable sd
hello, could you explain to me how you got the adoptable memory, I have j7 on android 9, I will try your process
Curious what model of J7 do you have ?
Ok I found that its Xinsternalsd module that works . I use Xposed installer , activate that module and reboot . You need to be rooted. Oh I tried Edxposed through magisk , you need riru core and other riru module . It actually made the stock storage setting show it as internal memory . Im deciding best method . When I used Edxposed sometimes other apps would cause it not to work and sometimes sd card said corrupted so you just pull out and back in . The Xposed framework seems more reliable but think harder on your sd card .
Oh you need to be rooted , have twrp or a flashing program . You flash Xposed installer with twrp . You then use installer to flash the modules. Do not use both Edxposed framework as Xposed cause your phone may not boot fully .
I had some problems with this but have course corrected. I am on stock oreo rooted magisk. I used xposed installer and Xinstallsd . It made my files app show combined storage but 100 meg games were downloading to sd but installing and moving to internal. So I used adb shell on get-install- location , it said 0 auto. So downloaded root essentials and set install to sd . Then ran adb again and it read 2 external. I then downloaded pubg a big game and only 175 megs went internal and the other gig and half to external ! I then did 100 meg game and it went on internal . So I think you can see benefit for bigger apps , not so much for smaller ones.
