How to manually install TWRP recovery? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Hi -
I'm having trouble getting recovery installed on my Verizon S4 (I545VRUMDK). Here's the details:
1. Flashed back to stock
2. Applied root
3. Installed GooManager 2.1.3
4. Within GooManager run Install OpenRecoveryScript
5. I then get a 10 sec countdown and nothing happens
So it looks like it wanted to install openrecovery-twrp-2.7.1.0-jfltevzw.img. I have the file, how can I install it manually? I found a tool that converts the img file into a tar file for ODIN, but it failed when I tried applying in ODIN. I don't see any fastboot methods for the S4 either.
Thx in advance for any advice.

Don't use Goo or ROM Manager.
Use Flashify from the play store. It's updated regularly and works great with our Loki'd S4s .

????Recovery Question????

I have ClockworkMod Recovery and was able to install Clean Rom but can not install any thing else. I use to use TWRP and like it better. My question is how can I go back to it and not break my phone?

There is a flashable zip in the twrp thread to install 2.5.0.2 right from recovery. For some reason I can't upload it otherwise I would have
You can also use the one click tool which has an option to install twrp 2.5.0.2. i used it today.

I want to use TWRP but I cant find the right files. Also would I use Oden to install?
Download goo manager from play store.

So a somewhat related question here. I installed twrp with goomanager after rooting and all the installation instructions I see for roms say to use a loki'd recovery. As I understand it, it's just another installation method. Does it matter?

TWRP Won't Flash

I have been running TWRP 2 since I got my S4. I decided to check out CWM the other day since I haven't used it in a while. Its really nice but I decided to go back to TWRP. The problem is that it doesn't seem to want to flash with goo manager and I cant seem to find any other method.
I understand that goo manager is the easiest, but is there a reason there is no odin file or other alternatives for the Verizon model S4? Its a little annoying, I loved just using fastboot with my GNex. I don't really like relying on software, I like doing it myself. The .img files are provided but I'm not sure if there is a way to manually flash them. Can I do it with ADB? I think I could package the .img up for odin but I feel like there is a reason not to do this, or the file would be available.
When I go to install recovery script, it downloads fine and says it installed. Then when I reboot its still CWM. I am able to switch between CWM and CWM touch as well, just no TWRP. I am running a Carbon ROM nightly build at the moment.
Any suggestions on how to get back to TWRP? I assume I can use odin to start over from the beginning but it seems like overkill.

The bootloader isnt unlocked so you cant flash via odin. Does goo manager have root privileges. I would try removing the root privilege in your app of choice, re add it then try flashing again. Theres also zips you can flash via recovery of choice. Trying to locate one now.
Edit:
Heres some lokid recoveries that are flashable via recovery.

I tried flashing a zip file of TWRP and the CWM remains even after i run script over it. Any ideas how to fix this? Any help appreciated

[Q] No recoveries found for your device and Cannot install recovery manually

Hey Guys,
I have looked through some of the other posts related to this issue for other phones, but still cannot get recovery installed
Was going to update to the newest Hyperdrive, but decided to ODIN stock and then reroot etc
1. My phone is MDK so I went with the Sticky on how to root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2290798
2. Obtained root successfully (SU installed (binaries updated), Root Checker checks out fine, Also installed SuperSU just in case(Updated Binaries))
3. Downloaded and installed Goo.im Manager to have to it install TWRP for wins --- Heres where the issues occurred
--- Error message ---
No recoveries found for your device
And when I launch the application I get:: <h1>Not Found</h1><p>The requested URL /message was not found on this server.</p>
Attempted Solutions:::
1. I found a post the ROM Manager can do the same so I installed that and set TWRP as the custom recovery (shows successful) -- but if I choose boot to recovery it still goes to default android recovery
2. I cant seem to find it again, but I had a XDA post on how to install TWRP with ODIN for I545 --- this also did not work as I receive an error on one of the security checks
Any help you have would be greatly appreciated!!!
I miss having a custom ROM :crying:
I don't have an MDK phone so I can't be 100% sure, but I think I read that Goo manager and Rom manager don't work for our phones. People are saying to use Flashify.

The all in one method for root also has an option of installing either twrp or cwm.
Thank you guys I used Flashify and install TWRP successfully, am not hear a computer where I can try the second All in One option with, but will keep that bookmarked in case I choose to ODIN stock that looks pretty straight forward also..
Again Thanks!!!!
I love being root, love the android experience

Safestrap cannot mount /system or /internalstorage

Hey guys,
I have a vzw galaxy s4 on 4.4.2 kitkat (stock and rooted) and the thing is i installed safestrap and after installing safestrap i tried to install the cm12 5.0.1 rom on my s4. The install completed successfully although it said that it could not mount /system, /systemorig, /internal storage. I installed this on rom slot 1 to try it out and when i tried booting from it all i got was a black screen. I did a little further investigating and i discovered that safestrap would not even do a simple factory reset because it could not mount /system or /internalstorage. I have no micro sd card installed and when i tried manually mounting /system it would not let me check it. ANY HELP IS APPRICIATED THANKS!!
thanks in advance,

Unless you have a GPE S4 or mdk bootloader, you won't be able to flash any aosp/cm/aokp roms. If you are using safestrap 3.72, you can only flash to the stock slot. I would recommend flashing the no wipe nc5 tar file through odin to restore your phone. I would recommend echoe rom or hyperdrive next time

Here is the exact problem you and I were trying to get to the bottom of with 3.75 A03. I've only had it happen twice in the last couple weeks while flashing tons of different ROMs so it's not that big of a deal. Just pointing out. Also, I've not found anyway to fix it except to Odin back to a stock ROM, reroot and then reinstall SS.

Yeah the problem was I flashed a non-touchwiz based ROM which screwed everything up. So after installing the stock NC5 ROM I rooted it and installed ss. I'm currently running the hyperdrive ROM I installed using SS and there are no problems so far!

My bad man. However, I did verify flash a CM or AOSP based ROM definitely gave me that problem too and I had to Odin back to NC5.

1. Put your phone in download mode
2. Open Odin
3. Flash this file in Odin:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23329332407590051
4. Once flashed root your phone using towelroot.com and click the symbol to download (make sure unknown sources is on)
5. After you achieve root download super su from google play.
6. Open super su and disable Knox
7. Download safestrap from here: https://goo.im/devs/Hashcode/jflteatt/safestrap/ (Make sure to download 3.72 jflte)
8. Download terminal emulator
9. Open terminal and type "su" without quotes and then type "setenforce 0" without quotes
9. Open safestrap and grant root access and install recovery

Oh another thing I forgot is that once you download towelroot.apk from the website you need to open the app and click "make it ra1n" and you should have root. Once you reboot into the hyperdrive it doesn't come with root so here are the steps:
1. Uninstall super su that comes with the ROM
2. If it is a system app (super su) then install no bloat free from google play and then uninstall super su
3. Install towelroot again
5. Open the app and click "make it ra1n"
6. Open super su after that and it should update its binary
7. Your FINALLY all set

Hello guys.
Could you please explain why should I install ROM in wiped stock slot? And not in the free space of SD-card? I thought that Safestrap was invented to flash and run different ROMs safely from the SD-card (virtual img slot) or free space of internal memory (real slot). Anyway, that was so with my moto razr. It seems I just misunderstood something.
