[Q] unable to on wifi. no access to memory - Samsung Galaxy Mega

Hi, I was actually trying to unroot my phone, so I downloaded the stock rom and flashed it in. Came across the triangle app to reset my flash count. But it need root access, so I flashed vcoreroot-v2 into my phone and attempt to install supersu. But there's a problem. My wifi cant switch on.. I can see the phone directory thru my computer. But I cant write or read anything inside. I also realised that my phone memory is empty.. and shows 128mb?
I have a galaxy mega 6.3.. singapore region. Currently have no supersu installed. Root checker says my phone have no proper root access.
Hopefully theres a kind soul out there to troubleshoot this for me. Thanks!

Unroot Droid Razr, phone not recognized by computer

My friend gave me a droid razr which is rooted and has a custom rom installed on it. I was able to charge the device and boot into the OS however the phone simply will not be recognized by the computer. I've tried 3 different cables to no avail, there must be something wrong with the USB port itself.
Is there any way to unroot the device and get back to stock without having to connect the phone to the computer? I am able to put the SD card into a different phone in order to transfer files to it.
Thanks alot in advance

Using the app SuperSU, there's an option for "full unroot" in the settings. If you plan on keeping the ROM, I wouldn't unroot if I were you. If you DON'T plan on keeping the ROM, then you're pretty much hopeless to remove it without connecting to a computer. Are you sure the drivers are installed for the device? You say the phone charges, so I doubt it's the port. Do USB options show up in the notification tray on the phone when you plug it in to a computer?

There are no usb options that appear in the notification window, and since I posted this the phone has quit charging . I'm not sure how he went about rooting the phone because when I went into the recovery, it was still the stock recovery that was installed. I did a factory reset on the device and when I booted it back up it asked me to activate before I could go any further. I tried using my sim card from my galaxy nexus but it gave me an error. I was thinking that I might bring the phone to verizon and see if it activates with a clean sim card and then look to see if it is still rooted or not.
Also, after further digging I found out that he actually did not install a custom ROM, all he did was root the device. So if I can get into the SuperSU app I will go ahead and unroot the device.

From what I know, the ports on the RAZR are poorly designed and prone to break. I had issues with HDMI detection a while ago and had to send it in for repairs.
Factory resets do not unroot the device. When you get the chance to use the SuperSU app (you may have to download it from the market), it should be easy to unroot it, but it's hard to say when the method isn't known.
And as far as I know, can't you just use wi-fi to complete initial setup?

Ok, I got the device activated and yeah it appears that it is still rooted. You mentioned downloading SuperSU off of the marketplace, as only Superuser was installed on the phone.
I downloaded SuperSU and when I try to open it I am getting the error ("There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem!").
So yeah, I am not sure where to go from here, the port is still not working so I need to do something before the battery dies.

Try an app like Root Checker or Got Root? to make sure the device IS rooted. I have messily unrooted a device before and while it WAS unrooted, it left Superuser and Busybox behind.
If it IS rooted, find an app of your choice (System Tuner Pro, Titanium Backup...) and uninstall root apps (Superuser). Cover up root best you can. I've handed a boot-looping device in for repairs with no carrier trouble, so I'm sure you'll be fine.
If it ISN'T... Well, you're hopeless without a computer as far as I can say.
Also, it may not help, but if your device is indeed rooted, you could also go into Superuser, swipe left and try to update the binaries so you can try SuperSU again.

I'm going to try Root Checker right now to see if its actually rooted like you said. I actually updated the Superuser app earlier and SuperSU still wasn't working so I'm starting to think it may have lost root somehow.
I also tried using Superuser Update Fixer and manually flashing the SU binary file from recovery but since the phone is still on stock recovery it wouldn't work.
I was also thinking that I could try and cover up root with titanium backup as you said, that was going to be my last step but since the battery is getting lower and lower I may have to go that route and hopefully not have a problem with Verizon. I guess it also helps that the stock recovery and ROM are still installed on it.
This is just a side project for me, I have a galaxy nexus myself and I have never had any trouble with it.
UPDATE: I just used both of the root checking applications you suggested and they both say that the phone is not actually rooted. Root Checker just spit out a message saying it wasn't rooted and Got Root? said that it located busybox but could not obtain root access. I'm going to try and clean things up with titanium backup.
UPDATE 2: When I installed titanium backup, the app asked me for root permissions and I hit grant. When I open superuser it shows it as giving permission to titanium backup but I can't find Superuser in the list of applications within titanium backup itself. There has to be another way to remove superuser.
UPDATE 3: I just tried to delete the superuser.apk file using root explorer and I get a pop-up saying that it won't allow me to delete that APK because my phone is not rooted. Ugh.. now I'm stuck.

Yeah... Sorry about your luck
You could try sending it into Verizon still. They may fix it. Perhaps not for free. Even if not at all, at least it's just a side project?
That's about all I can think of :/

Root help cant use usb anymore and lost root...

I have a S3 19300 that was rooted using exploit one click root...
Worked fine on 4.04...
Have recentley updated to 4.1.1 19300XXELJ2
And didnt want to inject su via mobile odin so didnt ckick to root...
Now have lost root and since new rom exploit wont work either...
Next problem is my usb cant connect to otg or computer...
Computet tells me usb device has malfunctioned.
I have latest kies and drivers etc have tried different computer and different ports etc..
Also tried to root by installing cwm zip but keep getting signatures failed thing so no go there..
Is there any other way i can root without odin?
I really want TWRP but need root access first...
Lost for ideas now....
Anybody can help?...
Also im overseas for a while so cant drop phone to get usb problem fixed at moment..
Try installing SU from Play store, sounds as though you have lost the binaries if you didn't select the option
Yeah but need root access....for su to update binarys...
When i flashed jellybean rom with odin i didnt choose ever root
As used exynos exploit one click root before...
I like that you can un root it without flashing a stock rom so
This was my plan...how ever when jb installed exynos exploit wont work now?
Funny cause i thought it was the chip it works on and didnt think a rom would stop it to work..
With out root i cant use TWRP either...
Now im guessing my only choice is to use cwm zip through restore...
Cwm do this on my tablet but on my phone it doesnt work due to failed signatures...
If anybody can help thanks....

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S3 "Modified" Issue

Hello mates,i'm having an issue with my device, and i was told to ask here for help, first things first,I'm sorry if i'm breaking any rules, because this is a massive site/forum organization and I think i'm posting in the right place/section.
Okay, here's my issue, recently i've purchased a Samsung Galaxy S3 from some dude, and recently,i've decided to update it to 4.1.2 as i believe it is the official Samsung update. However, the previous owner seem to have done something to it and it says that it can't be updated because the status of the device is now modified. I've looked it up on youtube, and successfully "unrooted" it. After that i've restored the phone to it's factory settings, removing all my pictures, music and all data in general. However my device's condition remains Modified and unable to update. I was just wondering, how do i do that, without risking to break the device. Again,i don't care about the data on the device(none left) and I only want the official stuff from Samsung that is supposed to be safe. I apreciate any info on this matter and ask you to use simple words as i'm not a pro when it comes to phone software/os. Ty
i have nearly the same problem
okay ive had my samsung galaxy s3 4g for about 4 months now and its a i9305 model, i came aross this rooting stuff on youtube and i thought i might give it ago seeming it looked cool so i tried to root my device, i did the root but it didnt work right cause i went too use a rooted app and my device wasnting rooted but it was modified and now i have no network or carrier it doesnt read my sim card...
i really need help if anyone has the answer please reply to my post!

The modified status is removed using an app "Triangle Away" BEFORE unrooting. Did the video mention that?

No,just "SuperSU" for unrooting. Is your "Triangle Away" Safe?
Edit: After fully understanding your comment, what am i suppose to do now? Root it again, then use Triangle then unroot it? If it is of any meaning,I also have this "CWM" Icon that stayed after factory reset, and i've had it since i bought the phone,it looks like a settings button, but doesn't really fit in the other icons, full name is CWM Manager and i believe i was able to open it,but now says. "CWM Manager needs SuperUser access to function ! If you have SU Installed ,make sure CWM Manager is not blocked, then reboot and try again", i have SuperUserSU but when i try to open it is says "There is no SU binary installed and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem" Both of these apps worked before the unroot so i'm thinking it's connected somehow. Noteon't need these 2 apps to work.just want android update

Well to get a fully Stock phone you can Root it, use Triangle Away like rootSU suggested to get the official Status back (also check Download mode), then Just flash a Stock Samsung Firmware via Odin. This will unroot your device since you are flashing the Stock Kernel with the Firmware. Afterwards you should have a unrooted Stock device with an official Status. Odin will also automatically Wipe your device`s Apps + Data.

Okay mate,i was afraid i was gonna destroy my device, but i overcame that fear, and watched a tutorial on youtube on how to root your device,it had 96% positive feedback (based on likes) and i felt confident. But when i entered the odin mode on my device, shortly after the begining a problem occured. Do you know that orange box that is suppose to appear in Odin on your desktop? The one that says COM5 or something? Well,I didn't get that,it was just an empty white box like the other 4-5 boxes next to it. Apreciate answers

Well that could be a indication that you either don`t have the USB Drivers installed or that USB Debugging isn`t turned on on your device.
Do you have the latest version of Kies installed?
Turn on USB Debugging on your device if it`s turned off and try again.

Do i need to re root?

Hi guys, i'm still new to rooting and roming. Heres what i have done on the absaloutley wonderfull s3 19305LTE 4.3 australian model.
Rooted the phone no problem with odin
There were dramas with superSU but got them fixed when i deleted and re installed superSU.
Accodring to rom manager i backed up my rom. So i'm thinking great, now i can download a rom.
i got the galaxy project rom thing which is working great....however
superSU is now saying that SU binary needs to be installed, it's saying i need to manually re root which i can't seem to do.
Titanium back up is not working.
Rom manager can't find any backups which is juuuuust peachy!!
Now odin won't see the phone when it's in download mode, it only sees the phone when its in normal operation.
and i can't seem to see the ime number or whatever it is, which is probably why odin can't see the phone in download mode?
Can anyone........anybody at all............help?
have u try to reset factory? and see if odin have detect u pda then u can re-root again

Well, I would say why don't you try factory resetting your device at first and then again try connecting it over the ODIN see if that works out or not ! :cyclops:

You need to post in the i9305 q&a section for more detailed help.
Try not to use rom manager, it creates more issues than it fixes.
no imei number will not make odin not connect to it.
Can you access recovery? if so reflash the rom.

[Q] S4 Rooting Problem

Hello! I am an extremely newbie in rooting so this is my issue. I just rooted my S4 I9505XXUGNH8. I used odin and the root file from chainfire. It passed. So I thought there' s no problem but after 5 hours or so, when I lock my phone it restarts. Plus my bluetooth won't turn on. So I saw this option in SuperSU that I presumed will unroot my phone. I clicked it and say yes. I restarted my phone, the said app was not there anymore. Checked root checker and it says no proper root access or something like that so I thought I already unrooted my phone. I tried even SRS Root, it says that my device has no root. But the issues were still there. I tried to create new file from my sd card so I was expecting it will not work because of that Kitkat sd card restriction stuff but it worked. I tried to update my firmware but the phone didn't allow me because it was modified. So reinstall SuperSU again, and it says SU Binary not found, like that. Now I really have no idea what to do. Please help me. Thanks and sorry for my novel like post.

Seems like you might have used the auto root package from another firmware version as this sounds like some kernel issues. Since you know Odin works, then you can just reset and reinstall the NH8. This will get everything backup and running again (you can try not wiping, but possible issues can arise from this too - fair warning and best to backup internal storage to PC for safe keeping). As far as rooting goes afterwards, put Chainfire's SuperSU zip on your phone, find an updated custom recovery such as TWRP, Philz, or CWM and install via Odin. Once installed, you must immediately boot to recovery before the OS loads so you can use the recovery to install the zip or the stock system will rewrite the original recovery to it. Then you will be rooted with no other changes to the phone that could affect functionality or usability.
