So WireFly did an unboxing, and if you pause the video and read the plastic that is protecting the screen when he takes it out of the box, the middle says to use the new sim card that is in the box, and that your old sim card will not work with all functions. What's that about? I'm planning on getting this off contract, and my sim will be a year old next month. I wonder if we need to get new ones to use with this phone? http://www.tmonews.com/2011/10/wirefly-unboxes-the-htc-amaze-4g/

Yeah, it does say that. This is from the screen cover on the front of mine.
Wait I'm so confused, what region do you guys live in? I'm here in the US and the phone isn't even out but I thought it was a US only phone. On top of that I likes my SIM D: what does the phone do that specifically needs this SIM in the box?

Not really sure but I'm using my old sim card and everything seems to be working to me.
I'm in the US too, and that confused me. I bought a LG Optimus, Defy, Desire HD, and a Nexus One. Not one of those came with a sim card. I always just swapped my original one when I signed up with T-Mo, and it always worked, but not one had that message on the plastic saying my old one won't work. I guess I will ask when I go to the store to pick it up. Maybe it has to do with the 42MBPS speed thing. Very strange.
It says that but my old one seems to work the same and I'm still getting 4g.
Where did you buy your phone?
wifi calling will not work with the old cards you will get error ER05 "update sim card" I have to go get one since mine did not get the SIM card when i got mine
Ok that makes sense. I don't use WiFi calling at all though.
I have to in my apartment it has crappy reception without it hell in anypart of the town i am in
The one from WIND mobile (Canada) does not have that message on the box or protector... it must be for wifi calling only as I am pulling about 8mbps (on the high end for WIND) most the time, and everyhting is working perfectly
I just bought a HTC Radar 4g from someone and its brand new with receipt and everything but some reason it doesn't have any service. When i start it up it says t-mobile for 2 seconds then switches to emergency calls only. I have tried my mom and dads sim but it doesn't seem to work either. Can anyone help me with my problem. I have t-mobile and my sim works on my e71x but not Radar.
Is it inserted the correct way?

yeah i made sure it was I saw the t-mobile for like 2 seconds pop up once but that was about it then it went to emergency calls only again. I tried to look for solution but few people have had this problem and im not sure what the problem is.
Try cleaning the sim card with a q-tip. Otherwise it sounds like you got a bad phone or the phone was deactivated by T-Mobile (ie it was stollen)

If the phone was deactivated is there any way I can reactivate it? Ill try the q-tip thing.
You can call up t-mobile and tell them what happend.
cpu BAD or phone library bad? the same to my blacyberry 9000
I also had similar problem (though in my case the phone was an unlocked phone). It would not recognize any Sim (would give Invalid Sim or Sim error), this was for a brand new phone right out of the box. Took it to HTC Service Center. They said motherboard was faulty and needs to be replaced! Finally they relented to replace the unit (HTC Service in India is pathetic.) But the replacement unit they gave is not new one!!! Felt cheated. Have decided not to buy HTC here in India again!! This when I am a loyal HTC customer for years now (am using HTC Sensation as my primary phone and ex-phone was HTC Touch Diamond).
At least the phone itself (ie. Radar) is quite good. Looks good, feels great in the hand (better than Sensation) and battery life is outstanding (I am charging it only every 4th day!) OS also is quite good for what it offers (though there are some frustrating things like Zune dependency etc). Its quite stable also compared to the Sensation (no force closes so far (3+ weeks) while Android just crashes the phone at least every other day (or even multiple times in a single day).
Ordered a M8 From Amazon.com and the phone appears to have been opened and resealed.
There are QC passed stickers over the factory stickers and there is a large sticker on the back.
My friends developer M8 did not come this way. I have a feeling I got phone that was returned...
Send that thing back should not look like that did you pay full value for that? If so send it back don't let them rip you off.
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I have both the large sticker with the serial number, IMEI, etc. On the box, I also had the QC passed as well.
Mine came from an AT&T store, so I'm pretty sure (although could be wrong) that mine was new.
the IMEI sticker is normal. No QC stickers on mine.
Mine also came from the ATT store. Large sticker on the back of the phone, but no QC seals on the box. Just clear ones.

Did you order this directly from Amazon "Ships and sold by Amazon.com"
OR
Did you buy it from a 3rd party vendor on Amazon.
If it was the latter - that's why.
I want to confirm that I went to a ATT corporate store to make an exchange and of the 5 boxes they had , all of them were cut open and resealed with these stickers.
After inspecting one of the devices, I decided to keep my old one because the new phone had a crappy LCD.

The sticker with the IMEI on the phone is normal. The box sticker I've never seen, but if the phone works and looks good then who cares.
I'm pretty sure that somewhere along the line, the boxes are opened and carrier SIM cards are installed.
the sticker is normal, but the quality control sticker looks odd. my came with clear stickers no QC

this is false. HTC has the SIM card pre installed during their packaging process. the SIM card number is even printed on the back of the box by HTC.
ATT has zero need to open you device prior to selling it.

I know for a fact they used to do this for some devices. It's obvious when a box is opened and things inside are disheveled. Not sure if they do it for the M8 but I wouldn't be surprised if they did.
When I opened my box, everything inside was in sealed plastic bags and the phone itself was in a plastic "pouch".

Except that I got mine on the 4th, the first one the store had & the first one they sold. Coming from the Nexus 5, I had a Micro-Sim. I opened the box & the rep grabbed a Nano-Sim card from the back & activated it on my account. There was no Sim in the box, which was sealed & completely intact with the shipped clear stickers.
Another co-worker also ordered his online & received it the day after I got mine. It was EXACTLY like mine, completely sealed, with a Nano-Sim still in the card, taped to the top of the box. Later that week, another co-worker received his M8 from an online order. This one had the QC stickers & the still attached full Nano-Sim card inside the box.
Based on this experience, I would say it is highly likely that at least some of the devices (with the clear stickers) DO NOT have a sim card in the box from HTC. The one box with the green QC sticker had a sim card in it & everything was intact, but you could definitely tell the box had been opened, likely to insert the sim.
Maybe some come with Sim card from HTC, IDK, but I can tell you the two with the clear stickers had NO sim card in the box. I can also say that there is ABSOLUTELY NO SIM CARD NUMBER or data stamped, or on any sticker ANYWHERE on the first two boxes. I can't say anything regarding the last one, because it is not at the office ATM.

Not sure what goes on between AT&T and HTC. I got mine on the 7th. The box was completely sealed, had clear stickers, a sticker with bar codes on the back that had the s/n and sim card number, as well as a nano sim already installed. Everything inside was brand new and sealed. Maybe they changed some procedures in between batches.
I got mine last night and it had not 1 but 2 QC Stickers layered on top of each other. I ended up exchanging it today because the top panel on the front was bulging out near the camera and created a sharp edge on it. Also had problems with my touchscreen not responding properly.
When I got the new one it was completely sealed, and I also noticed that my USB and charger were wrapped in the cornstarch baggie in the new one where as my old one was not. I'm guessing the QC stickers were referbs? The new one also had a sim pre-installed where as the old one had one installed by the rep when I purchased it.
New one is MUCH better, screen is more responsive and everything is flush and fits like it's supposed to.

What's up fellers! Been gone a long time and know I am back. I got a deal on a I527 and found out the guy used a Metro-PCS sim. I didn't realize this until after I put my SIM in and saw ATT. I didn't see that when he had his SIM in there.
I read the 5 or 6 posts on not being able to make or take a call from a TMOBILE setup but since this may be a little different I thought I would post and give it a shot.
My symptoms are no calls (does nothing then emits a single beep then hangs up). Does the same when dialing out. 4G and everything else works 100% Phone is fast boots quick charges fast no complaints anywhere except the stinking call issue.
I used KIES to reload the stock ROM. Took about 20 minutes and completed. Still no calls. Here are the details
Phone has the ATT logo on back, says SGH-i527, has I527UCUAMK2 all 3 places. I talked to ATT customer service and they said the IMEI points to a SGHNM819N. But nothing on the phone indicate metro PCS.
I use to hack back in the ATT Tilt days. Not anymore. I had a small stroke and can't do all this complex stuff anymore. If someone points me in the right direction I can follow instructions but it seems to have gotten a lot more cumbersome to do these days.
All I am looking for is bone stock reset where everything works. I can wait for KitKat to come out so I would like a clean fix.
My sim is a ATT. The service agent online assured me the SIM was fine. My old phone was a Skyrocket that got wet. So the MEGA needed a smaller SIM. I picked it up today and swapped phones.
Thanks for any help and I am willing to pay for someone's quick help. I use the phone for work and right now I am pinched.

I had a similar experience when I bought a used mega, picked up full signal, eveything worked except that I couldn't make or receive calls, I just got a single beep. I even went to an at&t store and got a new sim card, still didn't work.
The guy who helped me at the store said the sim tray was bad, made it sound like it was a common. Issue. gave me the number to the warranty dept, said they might cover it. I called them told them what happened and what the rep told me at the store.
They sent me a replacement at no charge.
my phone done that when my imei was replaced with a galaxy s4's imei. I finially found a guy that put the imei from another i527 into my phone, he also replaced that sticker behind the battery from the mega he used to fix mine so everything matches

I took a look and sure enough the IMEI on the phone is different than the sticker in the back. I googled about 6 different IMEI sites US and EU based and checked out both numbers. Every single site says both comeback good. Nothing stolen or odd. A couple of site said not locked. I would like to have matching IMEI numbers. I would like the one used on the label. How hard is it to get rid of the one on the phone and make it match the label.
I don't think ATT will let me swap this out for a new one. I am not the original owner and there is no insurance on it.
Thanks

I sent you a private message so you can have it taken care of the right way and don't get messed around like I did my first time around

I wasn't the original owner and didn't have insurance, just had service with at&t. The phone hasn't been out for a year, so it's under warranty unless something shady was done to it. In my case the numbers all matched.

Thanks. I don't see the PM yet. Let me know what I need to do.
Thank you,

My wife bought me the international version of the Samsung Gear S (SM-R750W). She said that she researched and from her understanding it should work on the T mobile network. From what I've found though the consensus seemed to be it would not work, or if it did it would be spotty at best depending on the specific towers/area you were in because Tmobile utilizes different network types in different areas.
I decide to give it a shot anyway and went to the T-Mobile store where I signed up for the wearable plan and got a new nano sim card. I was crossing my fingers but as soon as they put the sim card in the watch it came to life. It looked to be working fine but as I left the store I received a text from T-Mobile stating " the SIM for your wearable devices is in an ineligible device. Services to the SIM are locked until it returned to your eligible wearable device".
I pessimistically started thinking well great, there goes that idea. But as I got into my vehicle I shut my phone down and tried to see if the watch can work on its own as a phone when unencumbered from my Note 4 bluetooth/WiFi data connections. It worked perfectly-I started calling my friends and they couldn't believe I was talking on a watch phone. Several I actually felt the call sound quality was better on the watch speaker phone compared to normally speaking on the Note 4. I called customer service but they told me they couldn't see anything and if it was working fine not to worry about it.
For the next eight or 9 hours it worked perfectly and I was using it a lot. I drove around large swaths of town and neither data nor call experienced even the slightest issue - for once I was happy to be wrong.
Eventually, as I am oft to do, I fell asleep. When I awoke this morning the watch was no longer connected to the network. It gave me a message saying it was unable to connect and did I want to scan for additional networks. I selected yes and it was able to find the T-Mobile and ATT networks. T-Mobile was selected and a "registering" notification was displayed. It took awhile but eventually said it was unable to register with the network.
I call T-Mobile and they said pretty much exactly what I expected them to say -that because it was not a T mobile device they could not ensure proper operation. But he said (and he characterized this as "good news", "light at the end of a tunnel" and "viable solution” Seriously said all 3 things.) I could either forget all about the cellular connection and just use this as a companion device OR go and buy a new Gear S from T Mobile if I really wanted that feature.
I’m truly and utterly baffled that he believed his suggestions merited the positive sayings from above. Never in my lifetime has my head been closer to exploding.
After I was finally able to speak again, I explained that it seemed unlikely to be an issue with the watch. If my Gear S was working perfectly yesterday and can still detect Tmobile & ATT networks, then something on your end seems to be preventing registration. He agree to file a ticket with the engineering team and tomorrow I should hear from them hopefully. He also told me to go and try another nano-SIM, gratis, at the Tmobile store. So today I went and as soon as I put the new card in all systems were go. I assumed that I somehow had received a bad card because here again now, data and voice are connected.
This time I didn’t even make it out of the parking lot before it notified me that that it was again unable to register with the network. There is conflicting information regarding the radio frequencies and bands that the different Gear S models have and I didn’t have high hopes. But then it actually did work, WELL, so any ideas as to what is going wrong?
Imei not recognized as a wearable device by tmo
I am also getting very discouraged with the gear s on tmo.
But I think I finally got a tech person who may have found the problem ,
He said my gear s is no longer registering because the tmo system did not recognize the Imei as a wearable, that's why when I swapped sim with a friends iPhone sim, the gear worked. Because the wearable plan will only work with that device. The rep is asking engineering to add my Imei as wearable, but it has happen yet, he did not know if they could....

I guess that makes total sense, and answers my question if I could just get an Android watch phone at some point and use the same nano SIM that they gave me for my Gear S.
Could you post here if/when they added your IMEI? They were super unresponsive to my request to unlock my original Gear S (which I replaced with an ATT Gear S that ATT kindly unlocked for me), so I have little faith that Tmo are even willing to help their customers, but since I have my plan with them, I'd love to be wrong this time.
Tmo problem
Well I wish I had better news, but it is still not working, I called them back, they say they requested the engineering to add my IMEI , but who's knows if they did, they seem to have very little experience with gear s, it's very frustrating because it did work the first 2 months until I tried the sim in my iPhone. I think I have reached the end of the line ,
I might try closing acct and opening new again...
So can either buy new tmo gear s. And sell my unlocked att gear, or put mine on att,
But. I really liked the Tmo plan, and would probably had switched my other (family) lines to Tmo.
anyone have more ideas?

Maybe try to cancel your wearbales plan, then get one again, with a new SIM and new number?
I would not buy a tmo gear S: they won't unlock it and it costs $50 more. I use an unlocked ATT Gear S on T-mo without issues, but if putting the SIM in another device caused this for you, and the SIM itself is not the problem, they must have some kind of hold/notice on your wearables plan in your account, I think?
