Hello all,
A few weeks ago I did a front glass replacement on my girlfriends s3. Since then the phones touch functions turn off and on at random intervals. Some days the phone will work perfectly and some days you have to firmly press the whole screen back down for touch commands to be recognized. I am thinking that when I did the repair I left a small bit of glass that is slowly pushing the glass back off the display and causing it to not work. Or that I may just need to melt the glue again and press the screen down firmer.
Has anyone had this issue after a front glass replacement?
Thanks in advance for any replies
Usual problem after glass replacement is heat damage to other components.

My friend gave me a note 2 and it has a cracked screen. I was wondering if i should replace the screen+digitizer or just the digi. The lcd still works and so does the digitizer but a cracked screen just annoys me.

yes the glass alone is I'm thinking around 30 us dollars on the web the glass is glued together to the amoled lcd touch panel and can be removed with the following tools .....hair dryer highest heat setting, plastic tweezers, I actually took the whole phone apart to avoid heat damage to the internal components. apply heat to the whole screen from the outside only. caution very hot so wear gloves now slowly and I repeat very gently with tons of patience start prying off piece by piece then clean and losen the glue with alcohol then I used a stain remover I cant think now but will get back to you on that good luck
Hello. I have had a galaxy s3 with cracked glass and tried to replace it. I have seen many videos on youtube how to replace it. Basically people on these videos heat the screen and then remove the front glass easily, because the digitizer is glued to the lcd. But when I tried to remove it it came off quite easily, but only then I noticed that the digitizer was glued not to the lcd but to the front glass, so when i tried to remove front glass I accidentally broke the digitiser connector and somehow damaged the lcd. You can see photos here:

http://i.ebayimg.com/t/Samsung-galaxy-S-III-/00/s/MTYwMFg5MDE=/z/QREAAMXQ74JTUq67/$_58.JPG (in this photo you can see that the digitizer was glued to the front glass very strongly)
I would like to ask, do you know why the digitizer could have been glued to the front glass but not to the lcd? And why the lcd could have been damaged while removing front glass??
I would really wanna know the answer myself, as I ordered one that should have reached yesterday, but as they do not work on weekends, it will be here tommorow, and I don't wanna brake my display forever, especially because mine is not that damaged.
Any ideas?
my advice don't bother with a glass replacement. I HAVE TRIED TWICE and as the op said the digitizer is glued to the front glass. this has been the case with both the original screen and two replacement lcd/digitizer/glass assemblies that i personally took apart. each time the glass was fused to the digitizer . i used a heat gun and a laser thermometer and still i failed. I was successful replacing the whole screen assembly twice . but those cost about $130 from amazon, com. These replacements may seem at first like oem but the ones i got cracked very easily. they dont use the gorilla glass and the quality is not as good. one replacement was really bad in sunlight. could not see anything. after my screen cracked a third time i got a galaxy s 5 . and started using a case and screen protector.
Hi guys!
My front glass is coming off. I am not under warranty. Have any of you faced such issue and resolved it by yourself?

Not seen any one post with that issue on the front glass on the ZU. Think a few had this on the Z?
I would try to warm the front glass with a hear-drier and press back down, it may work...
I had that problem on the back glass of my first Ultra, like 10/20 days from day one.
I fuc*ed up that phone pretty bad software wise at the point that it didn't even boot, so they changed it on warranty, removing the problem with the glass.
Be careful with the hairdryer, because between the aluminium and the glass there's a little white or black plastic bezel, which WILL burn if you stick the hairdryer near it for too long.

Thanx guyz
Well the hair dryer solution seems to work. The glass is back in its place. Been two days and so far so good.
I've got a Galaxy S III (i9300) with a very shattered front glass. The display and digitizer works just fine though. Menu, back and home buttons too. Everything is working, i just need to replace the front glass. I've once replaced the whole front package (LCD, Glass, Digitizer) on a Galaxy S2 very successfully so i have some form of experience.
Will be my first time replacing only the front glass. Unfortunately i wont be able to put any LOCA there as i dont have any UV light. I do however some regular adhesive 2mm tape that i will put around the screen to prevent dust and stuff from coming in. Also i dont have a IR thermometer and i will be using a hair dryer. I know how hot it has to be by feeling it. I should almost not be able to hold my hands on the glass. It might take a very long time but if its possible to do it, im willing to try.
What i'm worried about is the glass shards that are in the middle of the screen. Most shards end at the edge of the screen so i can apply pressure there when im removing the shards. But the shards in the middle have all edges on the digitizer. I cannot apply any form of pressure towards the digitizer so im worried of how ill remove them. Also the left lower corner around the menu button is full with tiny shards. like 0.5mm-3mm shards. Im wondering what is the best way of removing them? BTW i still got the touch screen protection plastic on. It got bubbles now cuz of the cracks.
Here is a picture of how cracked it is. Its not exact but close enough. Paint is OP.
The black spot in bottom is where the glass is simply gone. It fell of after time. I put some tape over it to cover it up so nothing can fall in.
Any advice on how to remove these shards?
Very appreciated
