hi guys
I tried to install a custom rom on my HTC One X PLUS. I am new to this and it looks like i kinda screwed up. i used "HTC One X+ AIO Kit By Hasoon2000 v2.3". I have now this "CWM-based Recovery v6.0.2.7" on my phone. i can't boot the normal OS anymore. everytime i reboot, this cwm recovery shows up. when i try to install cyanogenmod (cm-11-20140705-NIGHTLY-enrc2b.zip) by "install zip from sdcard => choose zip from sdcard ==> ..." i just receive:
Code:
set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed
E:Error in /sdcard/0/cm-11-20140705-NIGHTLY-enrc2b.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
i have no idea what to do. can anyone pls help? is it still possible to reset everything to get my phone working again?

how? i just can open this cwm based recovery mode or this strangely HBOOT mode. but my computer doesn't really recognize it. if i open the device manager i see it under "ADB Interface" as "HTC Bootloader" but if use "adb devices" in command prompt my phone does not get recognized. the toolkit doesn't recongize it either.
OK guys i got my computer to recognize my phone in recovery mode. i can use adb push to transfer files to my phone. do i have to flash a new recovery or can a just put a new rom on my phone and try installing that?
EDIT:
OK GUYS! thanks to that i got my computer to recognize my phone i could flash the recovery phoenix suggested! and i finally could install my rom! thank you sooo much guys! you are my hero and made my day! i would give you a hug if i could but i guess nobody of you lives in switzerland

Hey
Yea i did something stupid , never mind how.
Basically i tried installing CM 10.1 , messed up really bad beacause i got stuck in the boot logo etc etc.
Now i "somehow" wiped my internal storage and have no way to install a ROM , tried connecting via USB but nothing helps cannot seem to get my htc one x + detected.
So basically phones pretty messed up and unusable atm , need help
Thank You.
Yes i can boot into recovery.
It's a long shot, but try entering.download mode. Recovery is pretty much useless without a rom already on the internal memory

Okay listen
No worries mate, calm down
I've been in the same situation! But I had relocked my bootloader at this point - haha -.-
1. First of all, download haason's toolkit (THANKS!) http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1994961
2. Download a proper recovery (Thanks Lloir!) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1995002
3. Get your ROM (I prefer ViperX+ Rom with Elite Kernel(Thanks to Team Venom and nik3r))
4. Run the .exe from haason's and install the HTC Drivers, this is important! (You're propably better of rebooting your PC)
5. Reboot into bootloader, connect it with Fastboot-USB!
6. Flash the new recovery!
7. Reboot Phone into recovery.
8. Now select advanced - and then ADB-Sideload
9. Go into haason's toolkit and choose from extra (bottom, right corner) "ADB-Sideload"
10. Choose your ROM
11. See what happens

Is your device detected?
Don't worrie if the command promp say "no device detected", close that windows and the toolkit will ask you for the ROM you wnat to Sideload.
Did you get to that point?
Have you been able to flash the new recovery?
That would mean, that your system already detected the phone
After step 7 adb push your rom to your phone then boot back into recovery and you should be good

For future notice Hansoons tool kit us typically worthless in these cases (and most others). You need to install the LATEST SDK from Google and run commands out of the "platform-tools" folder. As far as drivers go, you need to install the latest version of HTC sync and then plug the phone into the computer before ever modifying the phone.
My bro accidentally clicked on OTA upgrade. I have bootloader unlocked , rooted P765 with cwm 6.0.2. I searched this forum for solutions and got some.Unfortunately none worked for me.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2247371 - this method did not work . my phone also has some issues with USB i guess. Everytime i connect to pc , i get device not detected error. screes attached.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=40423549&postcount=2 ----this did not work. same as above.
i also tried with exitrecovery.zip . It ran successfully from CWM but everytime i boot, phone still goes to CWM recovery mode.
exitrecovery has following code
busybox echo -ne "\066" | busybox dd bs=1 seek=4107 count=1 conv=notrunc of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p8
I did trial and error with mmcblk0p till 1-20 with no success.
Here comes the saddest part...I also went to LG service centre. He also couldn't help. That guy told me motherboard is dead due to rooting.
I am sure that my p765 is very much alive.
I can go to Software upgrade mode on my phone, but my pc doesnt recognize it. I have latest LG drivers installed on my system.
NOw i think only way out of this could be a script to flash from CWM. Please help me!!.
I tried flashing other roms like Superlumina,Avatar. Also tried Ubuntu touch with no success. Still goes to CWM.
I am on JB India V20A.
Thanks in advance.

You need to install fastboot drivers: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2119090
Turn off the phone and remove the battery. Download THIS and exctract it to C:/. Open device manager in windows (Rigt click on Computer > Manage > Device manager) and connect your phone without the battery to pc via USB cable.

The following will work with all OTA boot loops to recovery. The guide is for p765 but it will work with all variants. If you flashed a custom ROM trying to fix the problem, please restore your stock rom backup. Also, if you still have artas182x locked bootloader recovery (or you removed any system apps), the update will fail, but you will be of the loop
what kdz are you currently on? I made the zip but i need the extracted p765 recovery.img.
If you have the kdz please extract the recovery.img (look at my signature on how to extract it).
i could give you the p760 20b recovery.img but I think it would be best to use the recovery.img of the current kdz you are on (to be on the safe side).
Note: if this doesn't work, you will need to use the unoffical fastboot. So you might want to get fastboot setup before trying this. Actually, you probably won't need fastboot, but you will need to restore your custom recovery.
Or use the longer method (takes more time, depends on your download speed), LG mobile support tool.
Once you get the stock recovery.img for your kdz, Open the p765_stock_recovery.zip and copy the 3-recovery.img into the zip file.
Note: Don't change the name of the recovery.img or it will not work
The recovery must be named 3-recovery.img
Place it on you sdcard and flash with cwm and reboot.
Or sideload into your phone with cwm and your computer
Code:
adb sideload p765_stock_recovery.zip

Hello everyone,
first of all im a total beginner on this field and it's the first time doing this stuff.
since there are no updates further than 4.2 for the beautiful HOX+ i tried to flash the cyanogenmod11 rom on my device. i used hasoons all-in-one toolkit. i followed the guide step by step and got stuck now in a hopefully not that serious problem.
i unlocked bootloader and flashed the cwm international recovery. the recovery was working fine and i did a backup. then i flashed the kernel with the boot.img from the cyanogenmod11.zip and the problems started. when normally booted the phone lights up with the white htc screen and then turns off again after about 3 seconds. i haven't flashed the CM11.zip yet and i guess that was the mistake? i still can acces the recover as well as the bootloader but like already said the phone doesn't start. another problem is that adb doesn't find the device enymore and only prints an empty line when using "adb devices" howevery using "fastboot devices" still gives me the proper result. hasoons toolkit also doesn't recognice the phone anymore.
if anyone could help either getting back to a custom rom or preferably setting up cyanogenmod properly would make me really happy =).
i hope this is the right place for this. i also searched around for hours and hours but can't find anything that helps me.

you normally flash the zip via recovery, do you already have the zip on your phone?
if so, go into recovery and install, find the zip file and install it
if you don't have the zip on your phone then you will need to sideload the zip to your phone, (fancy way of copying the file to your phone) then post 4 tells you how to sideload the rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2066390

another thing i just read about is the possibility if one already has installed a running cyanogenmod rom on his device he can extract that as an system.img if i remember right and i could use it on my hox+. just in case anyone knows how to pull that off let me know =)
otherwise still looking for hints how to install rom via fastboot or how to make adb working again

Try flashing the ROM onto the phones storage. Then you can install the ROM. If you cant even charge your phone then you have bigger problems than not having an OS installed.

Hey thanks for the answer
but how do i flash the rom on the phone storage using fastboot?
Lukas
Okay xda, I'm in a bit of a pickle here. Last night I tried to flash the Siyah kernel, Siyah-s3-v1.9.1.tar using Odin3 v3.09 on my Galaxy S3 which was currently running Android 4.4.2 on Slimkat, with stock everything else. As soon as I tried this I knew it was completely the wrong thing and knew something was going to go wrong. Sure enough, the Siyah splash screen comes on for a couple of seconds, then goes to a black screen and gets stuck there.
At this point all I can do is watch it do a couple of seconds of the splash screen, put it into Download mode, or put it into recovery mode. The first time I tried recovery mode it was the CWM recovery, but I can no longer get this to happen, so I'm stuck with stock recovery. When just plugged in my phone has a red LED, and the battery status screen you get when you start charging a turned off phone comes up.
I read a guide on here about how to fix a failed flashing with Odin (I forget which one), which led me to flashing I9300XXUGMK6_I9300OXAGMK6_I9300XXUGMK6_HOME.tar.md5 I believe, or if that's not it the stock Samsung firmware. So that goes down, and now I get stuck in the stock Samsung bootloader.
I've since tried to flash a .zip of Stock samsung firmware and Cyanogenmod 11 with another phone's SD card (which I no longer have access to), to no avail. At least that hasn't made it any worse.
What should I do? Ideally I want to get my phone back without losing any data, but I feel a reset may be the only way. Eventually, I want to be able to use it on Cyanogenmod11 with the Boeffla kernel.
Thanks!

You need a custom recovery to flash custom ROMs. You could try flashing one in Odin and then flashing a stock ROM .zip using the recovery.

Use ADB (USB debugging is enabled by default in custom recoveries).

First time doing this, and I have discovered I have no idea what to do. I'm using
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Flashing_Guide_-_Android
as a guide but I don't even know how to open the adb so I can input something into the command line.

You need to use the adb push command to move the file onto your phone. You just use cmd (type cmd into run and press enter).

I tried that but I got an error about the file locations. I think it's because there was a space in the one of the folder names, or at least that's what the command line suggested; it basically said "could not push file to '...\Desktop\Fix'" but the folder is called Fix phone.
I was about to rename the folder and move it to C:\ but I just went to reboot the phone in cwm recovery and it said DOES NOT HAVE ROOT ACCESS. ROOT NOW?
I selected yes and it rebooted as normal and got stuck in the samsung boot animation, so no progress there.
I have a backup in CWM recovery from a couple of months ago, I've just found but obviously doing that would lose all my recent pictures and messages. There isn't really a way to get them back by continuing with this method, is there?

I think you probably lost your messages when you flashed a stock ROM with Odin. Your pictures could be ok, check with adb and pull them if they are still there.
Hi guys, sorry if my post is not in the right place, it is the first time for me and please forgive my english which is not very good.
Yesterday I rooted my phone with magisk and everything went well. I wanted to install Viper4android but each time my phone restarted after installation I was stuck in fastboot mode.
So I went into recovery mode and I reset the phone. having done it several times I wanted to install TWRP via the ADB command to have a "better" recovery mod (yes im silly). I did **** and since I am stuck in fastboot but this time without the possibility of recovery mod, when I try to get there, my phone restarts and brings me back to fastboot.
My pc no longer seems to detect my phone.
Is there a solution where is this the end for me?
Thanks for your advices
EDIT : Ok so i just managed to install TWRP on my phone but when I want to make a wipe I have the following message:
failed to mount '/ sytem' (invalid argument)
failed to mount '/ vendor' (invalid argument)
failed to mount '/ product' (invalid argument)
what can I do ?

You are complicating everything. Simply download fastboot rom: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=4349826312261697682
extract it and connect mobile while launching flash.all script from firmware folder

Inside folder named "10.0.5-GLOBAL-OnePlus7TProOxygen_14.O.11_OTA_011_all_1912060100_3029-FASTBOOT". Extract it, and run file "flash-all".
At first, it will ask you if you want to wipe data Y(es) or N(o), tap Y, hit enter and wait until device reboot.
And remember you need to be in fastboot mode all the time.

Don't use TWRP, I'm just throwing it out there, it's not working.
Check themes section for install viper4android

I second that. There is no point of TWRP right now. Also, viper may or may not be fully working on this phone either...I have not attempted to install it. There is a guide/post somewhere though that talks about it. Also, from experience when I did use viper on my pixel 2, I would have the same problem and my phone wouldn't boot. To get around that problem, I simply installed magisk again and then it was fine. It was like that for a while until viper was fully compatible.

The guide shows how to workaround the bootloop.
It's related to SELinux, which hopefully has now been fixed in the latest magisk update. But it requires a module template update which the viper4android devs are working to update.
It should be working soon without any workaround/tricks.
