i have used nokia lumia 1020 and in that even with only gps enabled without any internet connection(OFFLINE) and also with wifi disabled the gps work very perfectly as compared to my galaxy s2 which takes a lot of time to lock..if it locks then it shows very less accuracy of the location as compared to lumia phone...why this is so????

I've used a lot Lumia (610, 710, 620, 820) and GPS worked perfectly there (offline and online). I think that Nokia uses the GPS chip better than the Samsung, although it may software fault because Samsung have a Google Maps and Nokia have Here Maps. sorry for english
ya its same that i think...i used sygic in my galaxy s2 and it sometimes not even locks

The only thing holding me back from a gingerbread rom is that none of them have gps working yet. I was curious how accurately and quickly google maps could pinpoint your position using only the mobile network option checked in settings?

It finds me on the mobile network around 2100 meters. That's not to bad especially if your lost or something. I'm sure we'll have it soon, I saw in another forum that the source code for the sgs2 is out so I'm sure that's a good thing.

Different gps chips...won't help until we get a vibrant gingerbread leak or official release...and yes network location will always work with gingerbread. Fine location will not until gps drivers become available.
Has anyone managed to get either of these two apps running on the S2?
I've tried CoPilot but the maps aren't great (for example, it often advises me to turn right in Central London when right turns aren't permitted).

I am using Navigon and it works fine for me.

Have used both and they both worked fine. Deleted navigon after a while as it took too much room up and I prefer sygic anyway.
I have both but use co pilot mostly.
Navigon came standard with Optus Australia. Been using it for about 4 months and works great.

Can anyone recommend (paid or free) that works correctly with the Amaze and has active (live) traffic?
I've paid for Copilot but it freezes all the time requiring a phone reset to get it working again. It was so bad i thought it must be my phones GPS unit but I tried google navigation and that worked just fine.. trouble is it seems a bit basic, data heavy and doesn't seem to have active traffic for road accidents..
Cheers.
Google maps. I have tried a few diff ones and keep coming back to google maps. The only real downfall is if you try to start navigation, and you don't have a internet connection. Otherwise its great.
Is there a specific set of features you are looking for?
Telenav was out before gmaps and is an okay alternative. There are some others that allow predownload of entire regions

Are you on GB or ICS? I have Copilot 8 and it FCs on ICS. Worked great on GB.
I now use Sygic and works well on ICS.

GB.. Try ** navfree ** On market its an open source community for years..
Works fine in Canada... Don't let your screen sleep during the map download

yeah, i use navfree, usa version. Works like a charm

Google maps does it all. You can click Settings > Labs > Pre-cache map area if you are traveling a long route and you think you may lose signal. Otherwise it has live traffic and voice turn by turn, all free. I will try navfree since you guys mentioned it though. Always a fan of open-source projects!
Google maps FTW
You can cache map areas....
If you hate the default navigation voice, try out svox
I consider Google maps bloat... It runs for no reason

It runs for a reason. Its the location provider. Any apps that request you location (IE Facebook, Flixster, Groupon), Android uses google maps to find you.
Copilot 8 was ok on stock GB on my telus Amaze but I just flashed the stock Tmobile ICS and found it wouldnt work at all so i switched to Copilot Live Pro 9 which i would highly recomment as its a significant improvement on 8 - i had to pay $4.95 for the Canadian Map but that didnt bother me too much seeing as i didnt pay for the main app itself.

Ya.. I'm not a 13 yr old girl or interested in any of those things.. I froze it... the way it runs for no reason makes it crapp or bloat.. I'll wait 3 seconds for gps fix

Skype not connecting even with cyanogenmod nighty build.
Phone: UK T-Mobile galaxy S3 9300
Does anybody know how to solve this problem?
Thank you
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA Premium HD app
Have you tried 3G and Wifi?
Despite otherwise claims by Skype/Microsoft, the protocol is quite easy to detect and block in case your carrier doesn't like Voip.
On another note, Skype doesn't work reliably for me on either mobile phones or desktops: keeps loosing connection or not seeing online contacts.
Yes. I have tried wifi, 3g. Still no connecting.
I have read thet people have problems with galaxy 9300 and skyoe. But cyanogen solved problems for them. For me not
I have even tried chanogen jelly bean. Still not connecting.
Internet is ok. Strong and good signal. Strange.
Maybe someone has anh ideas?

Hi, with recent roms based on the last official sammy firmwares, i get a very slow GPS positioning, and when is locked onto a few satellites, it drops all of them ocasionally and then i have to wait for a lock again.
Before, this never happened to me, i would get a solid lock that would continue to track my location.
i live in south america, is there some way to improve this situation via software? or could it be that my GPS module is getting broken (my s3 has 1 year and a half of use and a extended zerolemon 7000mha battery), which "part" of the OS handles GPS signal? (kernel, baseband, android...).
Greetings [emoji1].
