Yep, bought a battery from eBay for my S2 and I cannot use it, cannot charge it, nothing. It came with 50% charge, tried to charge it overnight, but since the phone "thinks" there isn't a battery conected it will only drain it but not charge it, not via USB, not with orignal wall charger, not with Sony external CyberEnergy battery.
So the pressing question is, since I don't live in the US and my original battery is way beyond unusable (it's become fat, any CPU intense activity will shut off the phone), can you purchase original, useable, new Samsung batteries online?
Thanks.

I haven't heard of Samsung selling direct or a good place to purchase original batteries. However, I know of some really good batteries that are not cheaply made and will hold a full charge. Therefore, you wouldn't have any issues like the battery you purchased from eBay. They are Mugen batteries and I would be happy to send you the link.
Yeah of course. A Google search (I just did one & found several; you might need to order from a different country & pay whatever shipping costs though) should reveal plenty of places online that still sell genuine Samsung I9100 batteries (not Samsung though, they don't sell them direct).

I found those too! Are they only higher capacity? Believe it or not, I'd rather keep the slim profile of my phone for now. I'll perform a much thorough Google search at home tonight.
If you have that link, I'd be most thankful. Some sites are restricted at work, and strangely enough, Mugen batteries is one of those.
Thank you!

Don't want to sound *****y, but that is exactly what I don't want to do AGAIN. Just because someone writes "Original" or "Genuine" on the item's description isn't, sadly, enough for me anymore. I've got a very succesful eBay purchasing history because I do my homework.
In this particular case, I knew I was taking a risk buying from eBay, I had read that several buyers have (possibly unaware of that, since they buy bulk) copycat batteries. Since my phone isn't new and it's rooted, I figured I'd run said risk, maybe a rooted phone does not perform such a thorough battery ID. I was wrong. Live and learn.
Having learned my lesson, I don't mind paying a higher shipping cost, but making sure I will receive a battery my phone will accept and a battery that won'd damage it in the long run.

I hope this comes in and works well, I am considering buying one just as an extra battery but am skeptical as to how much it will actually hold being a battery that will fit in without an extended battery door...

Yeah I hope it works. because 2300mah without a different battery cover would be awesome.
Please let us know how this battery works for you. Specifically:
1) Does it require an extended cover or can it be used with the stock cover
2) Can it be charged while in the phone (no boot loops)
3) Does it actually appear to be 2300mAh or is it a lie?
I found this battery too and am really interested, but not exactly trusting of stuff like this on EBay. I'd like to know if it is legit and works well.
Did you already send them feedback? Tell then they will get negative feedback if they do not either refund your money fully or cover the replacement including shipping.

It is supposed to work with original cover it says to be slim, it may say it is 2300mAH and the only way to know if it really is, is trying it out. So I risked my self on buying it since it was cheap. I will let you guys know how it works out.

Mugen is a trusted brand. My friends use it. And I'm planning to buy one for occasional use. Just in those cases I know I'm gonna be out for sometime and might need some extra juice. I already get around 24 hours, adding it might make it last around 2 days. That'd be something.

[edit] gah darn you hehe =p

I figure, hmm... if there's ever a time we're(family/friends) not by an outlet for a couple of a days $20 battery would come in handy
which is unusual for this date and time so I wasn't sure. such a borderline impulse buy
This is nice for emergencies. Good buy for $20. Although I don't need it for day-to-day use. By the time I go to ebd and plug my phone in I'm still at 25-35% most of the time.
My thought is, sure you don't need it daily. Maybe for emergencies... but you have to carry it with you everywhere for emergencies, then you need to wait for your phone to charge. I would rather carry a spare battery that is already fully charged.
You can use that to charge other things also, but then again, you have to wait for it to charge. Pretty much everywhere you travel will have an outlet.
But $20... whatever, no use thinking about it too long. My .02 would be carry a already charged spare battery for emergencies.

Kmashi 9600 mAh external battery
i got this battery and have been using it for more than a month now
http://www.ebay.com/itm/for-HTC-Ama...US_Rechargeable_Batteries&hash=item4ab8058874
if that link dies you can search ebay for "kmashi 9600"
ive seen prices for the same model vary from $25 to $45 on ebay
its a 9600 mah battery. they also make a 11,200 mah version. kmashi seems to be a chinese company that makes batteries.
its not heavy, its just a little bit bigger than the rezound, and it comes with 10 adapters to charge other devices.
somehow, within 2 weeks, i was able to bend a pin in the micro usb adapter, rendering it useless. so i just charge my phone using the micro usb cable that the rezound came with
im on airplanes a lot and walk around a whole lot (walking around new york, biking, for hours at a time) and i love the battery. if i have my phone plugged into it, and the phone is at 14% or less and im playing GTA III, the phone will yell at me and say that the current from the power source is not enough to charge at the rate its being consumed. other than that, its been great
i dont mean to be rude but how is carrying around two regular devices better than carrying one slightly larger item...it seems kinda redundant to carry a battery to charge another battery, should we also carry a third battery to charge the second battery

As far I know, it's quite the opposite. Li-ion batteries do not have "memory effect". In fact, letting the battery fully discharge wastes a life cycle. However, it is advisable after 20/30 charges, to perform fully discharge/charge to re-calibrate the measurements. Some says that if battery stays between 40% and 60% of charge is the ideal (due to factors such as temperature, etc.).
I don't know if to keep changing batteries may affect the pins. But as long you keep using the batteries regularly its fine. Just don't let your batteries unused for a long time.
Thanks both, but if you were to buy one which would you choose?

I don't trust 3rd party battery manufacturers anymore. I bought a couple Hyperion batteries with my Note. The batteries were supposed to be 2600 mah but it turns out they were really 1500. I have also had this same problem with another manufacturer that everyone said was good. I don't trust them anymore. I bought a genuine Samsung battery. One other thing to note, if you want to use NFC, you will need the Samsung battery.

I found out because several people on various boards pulled the original label on the battery and saw the real mah size. This seems to be a problem with a lot of 3rd party batteries. You really do get what you pay for. The battery did work but did not last anywhere as long as the original. I also do not believe the batteries harmed my phone in any way.
Well you got 2 pcs of that hyperion batt right? so that makes equals to 1 good battery lol
I've also gave up hope on 3rd party batteries after a lot of testing and analysing with a real battery analyzer. For example, the genuine cell in a SGN specified to 1750mAh measured 1690mAh which is well within margins. The same for genuine Nokia cells. A well known 3rd party battery manufacturer has this "super mega xl" cell specified to x000mAh but turned out just at x300mAh which is really bad. The internal resistance also appears to be worse on most 3rd party cells.

I havent heard of that but just placed an order for this one http://shop.brando.com/Power-Jacket-For-Sony-Xperia-Z2-4500mAh_p11226c1599d3.html
Its 4500mah and appears thinner. Heard good things about Brando who have been around for a while.

Just an FYI.* I finally got the battery, touch slow for postage. Took about 3 weeks.
Anyway build quality on first impressions seems good, nice finish.*
Doesn’t have a strong click but nevertheless does connect the phone nice and secure.
I got the cover without a front flip section.
I used to have a galaxy so this phone is heavier by comparison but I’m used to the extra weight now however have to admit, this does make it a fair bit heavier.
Button on the case for charging is easy to use.
My drawback is the website clearly says data support is available but when I checked with the seller, they confirmed this isn’t the case and will be amending the website shortly.
If you can get passed the weight issue and increased bulkiness its overall pretty good just without data sync

I have tested the battery, over all I concur that it is built well for the price (I got it for ~$20). However there are a few issues:
- The real battery capacity is approximately 75-80% of the Z2's battery. It charges the Z2 to about 80% total from full to empty so the capacity is more like 2600 mAh.
- The input and output currents are lower than what the Z2 can charge. It can charge at 0.8A and discharge at 1A which is not terrible but does take significantly more time (50% longer) compared to charging the Z2 normally.
I'm happy with the purchase due to the convenience of being able to charge the phone untethered whenever I want to prolong the built-in battery life. Usually I snap the battery in when I need to charge and take it off to charge it separately afterwards.
thx for the answers.
that seems logical you cant charge a 3000mAh battery with another 3000mAh to 100%, you will lose something inbetween.
Lucky i don't really use my phone much, so i get 3-4 days with low usage and the normal battery ^^
I'm extremely happy with my purchase price. I complained because their site clearly says data sync supported but it's not. They offered 30%. I advised still nothappy because site misleading so they gave me full refund and let me keep the product so for free it's fantastic lol.

Hello, what about charging this case?
On brando.com ist that you must charge case and phone separately.
On some Chinese pages is that you can charge case connected to phone - phone will be charge first and than case.
Got the 4500mAh version now, why? Because it's supposed to charge the device at 1A

in short:
It charges the phone from 5% to 93%.
Takes about 3hours 30 minutes

The case has a button so whilst your phone may always be connected it doesnt mean its using the case power so it never charges both at the same time. When you connect the charge cable to the case it will charge the case if its turned on or charge the phone when the case is turned off
