Eken GC10X (Allwinner A20) tablet won't boot but charges - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have an Eken GC10X tablet that runs the Allwinner A20 processor. This tablet has been giving me problems recently where it won't turn on, or when its on, it won't turn the screen on. It used to take 5 times in which i held down the power button to turn on (or the screen saver to turn off). This would often be over the course of an hour. now i can't seem to ever get the thing to turn on. When it does work i have to turn the screen saver off so the display is on all the time (and plugged in to the charger).
The thing isn't completely non-responsive. When its off and i plug it into the charger, the battery icon flashes and shows how full the battery is. When i unplug it the battery icon flashes again and turns off. I also "burnt" an SD card w/ the latest firmware from the Eken website and flashed it. It seems to have taken the firmware and ended the upgrade with "Card OK", but still nothing.
I used to be able to get it to show up as a device in windows when i plugged in the USB cable, but it doesn't seem to be detecting it now. It just charges when plugged in.
I'm kind of running out of ideas. Does anyone have any suggestions?

[Q] sgt7 12/10 not charging

16 gb Nook Tablet running sgt7 12/10 build on emmc.
Will only charge when unit is turned completely off.
Any suggestions?
I have the same problem, I am running 0.6 ROM. Any help greatly appreciated.
Sent from my Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet using xda app-developers app
I'm not sure that I've seen it fail to charge. But I have seen some oddities with each CM10 ROM I tried.
What I do is plug it in while the tab is asleep (The LED is usually green). Normally the tablet will wake and the LED will turn amber. Then I press the power button to put it back to sleep.
I say "normally" because with one ROM it doesn't wake when I connect the charger.
By "oddities" I mean I think the battery stats are getting wacked, but I haven't been able to isolate it, yet.

While the power is on with mine, the charging light is green no matter how low the battery.
When I turn off the power the light turns orange & the battery charges.
My nook tablet also will not charger after a completely clean install of the 12/10 ROM. It shows that it's charging, and the cable is orange, but it doesn't actually do anything unless I power it down completely after plugging it in. Also, the n button doesn't take me to the screen set as default home screen, but to screen 1 instead, all the way over to the left, but installed app icons are installed to the correct screen.
The no charging thing is a big deal for me. It makes this ROM basically useless since I can't use it while it's charging. That means you can forget about heavy use. Everything else about it is awesome but once it's dead I'm stuck reading books on my phone while I wait hours for it to recharge.
Update:
Not sure what caused it, but last night I accidentally shut my nook tablet down before plugging it in, which made it come back on, then I shut it down again. Since waking it this morning, it is plugging in and charging as intended. No idea why, but it does indeed seem to be working fine now, other than the previously mentioned home screen issue.
Try a new cable.

Between my kids and me totaling two cables already. I ended up duct taping around the 3rd cable so that it would fill the gap between the surface of the table and plug which made it more solid. I cut of square so to see the nook charging led. I would try plugin in from in store cable or someone else that has a nook if it would eliminate that as a possibility.

i am having a similar issue, but my cable's led is always green no matter if the tablet is on or off. already tried a different cable and the same issue. also tried a different ac adapter, still the same thing. i wonder why.... any ideas?
UPDATE: tablet does charge just fine when it is off, however the LED is still green while the tablet is off. Weird... hard to say if its software or hardware issue now...

[Q] DNA wont turn on

I haven't applied the OTA update, so my phone's on the stock ROM that came before the new one. I have rooted the phone, but it worked fine until today. It died last night and I put it on the charger, but this morning it wouldn't turn on. Now that I have it plugged in, the front LED blinks steadily, and when I hold down the power button or power+volume down buttons, the lower LED bar blinks, but the phone won't turn on. Could something have gone wrong if it tried to automatically install the OTA update while I wasn't using it? Or is there another way to fix this? The problem occurs whether the phone is plugged in or charging wirelessly.
Edit: Solved. The phone booted when I tried again. I still have no idea why it wouldn't work though; I left it on the wireless charger all night, so it should have charged then, but it could have moved off of it. Today it took a solid 10 minutes plugged in to the computer to charge enough to boot. Is that normal? Shouldn't it just use the charging energy to boot?

[Q] Stuck on Charging Screen

Device: Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0
On CM10/PA
everything was fine til a bit ago
recharged via USB. The battery stuck at 100 and was kept at 100 for the whole day. After rebooting, it went down to 35%. Within 20 min, it went down another 10-15%. Only active app was Moon Reader, which shouldn't be that big of a drain. So I try to recharge it in the outlet, but the adapter isn't responding (green light). I plug it into the laptop via USB and it doesn't seem to register. So I turn it off w/ the intention of turning it back on.
Afterwards, I go to power it on, but nothing happens. I hold the power, power+vol buttons, but nothing except download mode. I plug it into the USB and hold power and it boots into that battery charging page (w/ the eight lines radiating outward, like a starburst) but quickly shuts off, then on ie it seems to boot loop. I remove it from the USB and hold power and boots into the charging page momentarily, then shuts down.
I've plugged it back into the outlet, the adapter registered (red light), and charged it for a few hours. I go to turn it on, but nothing's changed. So I flashed the bootloaders found on the dev site, which after resetting, got me into CWM. I tried to restore, but it failed. Error restoring /system. Every other folder was fine.
I then flashed the bootloaders, then flashed a stock 2.3.6 tar from the same dev site, which worked!
But after powering off, the same problem appeared (Samsung logo doesn't load, just the charging screen [even if not charging] momentarily before turning back off.)
So, trying again, first w/ the bootloader, then the stock 2.3.6..tar.md5,, I was able to d/l, root, upgrade via Odin to a rooted, CWM GB ROM- all w/o issue. When I turned it off, then back on, the same problem emerged (battery bar flashes on, then off)
Reflashed the bootloader, went to CWM, restored to an older GB, and everything went w/o a hitch. So it (the battery thing) seems only to be happening when I turn the device off. After some usage (aroudn 1 hour), it turns off by itself w/o any fanfare. Any ideas on what's going on? Fixes?
Thanks

[Q] Charge/Startup Problem

Hi There,
I had put my phone on charge the other night, everything was fine and it was happily charging away. I wakeup in the morning and see a notification on my phone. I unplug my phone the battery then shows 1% and turns off. I then did the smart thing of removing the battery for 5 seconds, putting it back in, turning it on and it turnt on but with 0%. I then put the phone back on charge.
This is where it gets interesting yet annoying. The phone flashes a red light whilst charging, it then goes to boot up showing the sony ericsson logo and then just turns off and repeats itself. I have had the phone on "charge" for an hour but to no avail of anything working. I am unable to connect via usb as the port to re-flash the phone as when it was repaired for some reason it has never connected via usb again.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Won't charge when on, LED blinks when off and on the charger.

Yep, I'm having another round of issues on my One.
Just some information:
Running stock ROM, bootloader locked (not "relocked"), S/N HT346(...), Quick boot OFF, previously sent in for repair.
I believe this has been brought up before, but here I go:
I pulled the phone off the charger this morning with a full charge. However, Car mode unexpectedly opened up. I found this odd, since I'm running a stock AT&T ROM using the Sense launcher, which means Car mode is nowhere to be found. The device also reported using an "incorrect charger" or some other thing. I use the charger that came in the box with my phone. I assumed it was a mistake.
However, in my infinite wisdom, I decided to brush it off and went on with my day.
Usage patterns normal, maybe with a bit more GPS and camera use than usual, but more or less a normal day.
Come back home, plug it in. Phone will not charge. I do not believe it's a hardware issue. Why?
Troubleshooting time:
Plugged into another outlet, will not charge.
Switched wall warts. Will not charge (I have a few from older HTC phones and a few from other Android devices).
Switched USB cables. Will not charge (tried combo-ing with wall warts, same result).
Plugged into PC. Will not charge AND does not recognize USB connection (both ends). Tried with several different cables, no dice.
Rebooted, no dice. Did it again (and several times after that), no cigar.
Safe mode: Nope.
What works?
Connect via fastboot works (so "FASTBOOT USB" works)
It WILL charge when powered off.
Now, as the title states, I noticed the LED blinking when the phone is powered off and plugged in via AC or USB.
The orange LED will light up for ~6 seconds, dim down (to the level of brightness that would be considered "normal" for the phone) for ~6 seconds, then turn off. The process repeats after the LED turns off for about 5 seconds.
Any ideas on why this could have happened (including my own stupidity) and what I can do to solve this problem? I'm going to send it in to HTC if nothing gets it working again (and has it stay that way).
