Sorry if this has been asked but I have looked and came up blank
I've changed the LCD dpi figure in my build.prop as my LG G2 looks a lot better at 380 than the stock 480.
However this seems to confuse the play store and some apps don't show up for me. I change the dpi back, reboot and hey presto I can see the app.
is there a way round this?
Any ideas ?

Hey guys...
I use this LCD Resolution app, and it is awesome, but I have one problem, I cant find balance between two things...
If I set it to 160 everything looks nice but in some apps my status bar is messed up...
And if I put any other option I get everything look OK but colors in PlayerPro for example look a little bit mixed up :S
thank you
That's because you're running at DPI's lower than what the phone is built for.
Market will not work properly and you would not be able to update all apps if you go under 240.
If you want one of the best DPI's, set it to 183, I prefer it as everything is just working as it is, although some apps are formatted incorrectly.
I will give it a try
market will not allow me to install some applications.
I'm running in tablet mode and have, over time, gotten the dpi "right" for all of my apps except the Play Store, which still appears to be at a phone resolution (I'm guessing 360 dpi) .
I know the relationship between build.prop and hyb.prop.
I have tried:
Used default dpi of 213 without adding lines for Play Store.
I have added lines for Phonesky and com.android.vending-1 at 230 dpi
I'm pretty sure my Play Store has been updated (so no longer using orig vending.apk.
Wonder if:
I need to manipulate more than Phonesky and android vending?
Or
Need rom's original vending to change dpi?
It's kind of jarring to flip from low dpi (most of my apps besides phone and contacts) to my current market dpi.
Any help appreciated. Thanks
Love this rom!

I came from a Galaxy Mega 6.3 and the playstore worked as would expected, in phone UI mode.
With the Z Ultra the icons are huge and there are only 4 huge app icons on the screen at a time. I'm guessing the extra resolution puts it in tablet mode. Without messing with the DPI is there any way to get the play store to go to the phone UI?
I'm happy with the DPI on the rest of the phone, just not the play store and it's not really worth it to me to install PA just to be able to change the DPI for one app...
I saw this post and tried it and it worked great! Play Store at 180 DPI now look excellent! (I used the App Settings module)
http://www.androidpit.com/xposed-framework-the-5-best-modules
yes, rooting without unlocking your bootlocker allows xposed framework to be installed, and the play store module should work to get you any app you like regardless of the dpi settings it reads
It's taken a little longer for the over-sized Play Store icons to REALLY bug me... glad I found your post.
180DPI is just a little too small for me, 240DPI (gives 3 columns) and font scaling to 120% is just about right for my eyes.
Thanks.
The only thing that's annoying when we change the Play Store DPI is when we get app updates, and it's not possible to read the changelog in portrait.

I found that the stock setting of 240 DPI made everything a little too large for my preferences. I tried 180 DPI first and that made everything a little bit too small. At 200 DPI everything seems just right, except that the stock launcher does not take advantage of the additional area. I installed the Google Now Launcher and that does make use of the additional area, and other launchers such as Nova likely do as well. I haven't installed anything other than the launcher from the Play Store yet, so I don't know if this will give me any issues with installing apps, but I know there are fixes available for this. Also, it is obviously very easy to change DPI by editing build.prop if you have root access, but there is also a method posted in the forums on how to change it without root.

Just wondering what everyone has tried to use for their DPI now that we have root. What are you set at and are you seeing any issues? I'm currently at 600, and the only thing I see is the weather animations don't fit right, which is to be expected.
I haven't messed around with it, really. Too worried about bootlooping, since there's no recovery for the ls990 yet ..
I've tried changing it a few times and got boot looped. I'm just gonna wait for recovery before trying again.
I changed my DPI down to 560 and it seems pretty good, I guess I got lucky idk. I used texdroider to change it.
I've got mine set at 530 dpi, which is the lowest the phone can handle before it starts acting up. No issues at all with any stock apps or the stock launcher, it's perfect for this screen size and resolution. Now, one thing I don't know for sure is how the stock LG keyboard likes 530 dpi, because I've been using Swiftkey since day one. The LG keyboard is horrible, IMHO.
I used texdroider to change the dpi setting, it was very simple to do. It's definitely the safest way to do this, and I've never had a problem using it on any phone I've had over the last few years.
After changing the dpi to what it should have been out of the box, I used G3 Tweaksbox to set my navigation bar height down to 36 pixels. Now I really have maximized the screen without sacrificing any usability.
If I couldn't root the G3 and make all these various tweaks and changes, I honestly wouldn't even want to use the phone in its stock format, I'd have to choose something else.
I'm no fan of stock, but the phone itself is good enough to make up for the crazy stock settings. Shouldn't be long before we have either an unlocked bootloader from LG or the private sector, or we have a recovery similar to Loki based stuff. Patience is a virtue

Also, I'm using the Xposed module "app settings" to manually select a DPI on a per app basis, so I can leave the stock apps at the standard 640 nightmare and not get any trouble from them. It also works wonderfully for testing DPI on those same stock apps without making a system wide change resulting in a force close loop on boot. If it doesn't work, you just set it back to default 640 and no harm done. I use action launcher, so I test on the default launcher or the phone.apk
dpi
I also used textdroid dpi with success. Before I changed it I cleared play store data as suggested by another great app I use "pimp my rom". I ended up going back to 640.
