It's been a nightmare but I'll keep it sweet. I was on 4.1.2 and upgraded to dn3 rom. I was wrongly told I needed to upgrade my bootloader for future roms/etc and not only that was given the file to the n7100.
Essentially I'm trying to recover via Odin, am getting NAND write fails and am attempting to use a .pit file and flash a new bootloader and firmware to get back on track. I can't find these bootloader files anywhere online and would greatly appreciate them and guidance on the issue.
Thank you

Thanks for any help...
Adam just revised his guide (first post of his thread) with even more steps. Also, if you read through the first few pages of the thread, people put exactly what they do.
Between those two and the video, I unlocked in roughly 15 minutes last night.
But please note it assumes a base knowledge of rooting unlocking and the such. Those guides are elsewhere on xda

Watch the video again... I followed it exactly and it worked first time through from Beans1... pm me if you need additional help and I can walk you through the steps I took, but I am in no way a developer, themer, modder, etc... just a guy who loves Android and follows instructions from the guys who pour their heart into this!

Wrong section. I'm still making adjustments and redoing the guide as I go. You need to be rooted first.

odin tries to unzip the .tgz file
ok i tried to use 7-Z file extractor and it will not extract the file to .tar... says the file is broken? the link for the revision3 file goes to revision3repak.tgz is this the correct file?
Odin will do what it needs to do, you don't need to extract it yourself. If Odin doesn't like it, you prob need to re-download the file.

Thank you, but here is another problem, I went to the link above as recommended and followed everything which went fine. Proceed after step 10 to Adam's unlocking bootlooder. I got as far as loading the image with Odin but when I went back to Casual nothing happens and my phone has a loading with a Green Droid. Casual doesn't do anything like the video where it shows downloading.

Hi guys,
First of all thank you for all the awesome tips and tricks here, I really learned a lot from the community.
I have a samsung i9305 which I recently purchased to replace my i9300.
I downloaded super su and busy box to my phone but then they didn't work because my phone wasn't rooted (stupid me, i forgot)
so I tried rooting it using this method:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1914394
and followed each and every instruction perfectly but then my phone wasn't getting rooted (checked on rootchecker basic, although settings stated that my device is modified and triangle counter is 2)
so i did it twice but I still got the same result.
Then I tried this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957273
And I thought it worked properly (since when my phone booted up it said that it was updating the OS)
but then my super su installation was gone and every time I try to open root checker it just gets stuck on the (your system appears to be slow...) and it never finishes checking. Also, sometimes the apps won't open.
Can anyone help me with this issue? I don't want to break/brick this new phone. :crying:
I'm currently downloading the original firmware and im hoping to unroot it by flashing it via odin later. But it's a zip file right and we need the .md5 thing to flash on odin? how do i flash it?
I hope you can help me out and I'm really sorry for the hassle.
Thanks in advance for the help.
Might wanna try the correct forum.

Any mod out there who could please move this to the right forum?
Thank you. And sorry.
Sorry if it's being asked a lot. I was flashing ROMs last night and I wasn't in the most stable of mind set. Anyway I wake up to a text from my buddy about this update. I remember doing a Samsung update but not an ota and it never went to download mode. How can I tell if I updated it?
I keep seeing VRUAME7 as the new update but this is my current about info and my build is obviously a different rom but my baseband isn't what I see as the before and after screenshot and I just checked my phone with a root checker and it passed. Sorry for being a noob but I came from a gnex! Can anyone give me an idea how to check if I did or if I'm fine?
Sorry I meant to post this in help / q&a not general sorry please move it!!

You're running a custom ROM (CleanROM), so you don't have the update. You do not want to flash the update since it kills root access and prevents the bootloader workaround. This is discussed in nearly every thread in the forum right now.

If you updated you wouldn't have a Root and I don't think you'd have a custom ROM.

The update fails if you have a custom recovery (TWRP or CWM), which is needed to flash roms. So as long as you have a custom recovery the update can't go through

No problem. I came from the Gnex too and there is definitely a little bit of a learning curve with the S4 modding scene compared to the Gnex. Questions are the only way we learn!

Yes. Especially since I don't fully understand this auto Loki (I understand it flashes a pre release kernel that is insecure hence how I rooted the phone via Odin and motochopper in the first pkace), that and with the boot loader still being locked or at least not unlocked and being bypassed I wasn't 100% positive. Now can I flash the new modem.bin from the update via Odin without messing anything up? From this thread:

Hey guys,
Before anyone rushes into flaming, I just want to note that I've been a member here long enough to know how to search the threads before asking a question that has already been answered. This is the reason for the title. Anywho, here is my situation. I got my hands on a brand new S4, used it stock for a bit, then decided to root it (couldn't help myself.)
Post rooting, everything went great. The ROM (JellyBeans) was running smooth, life was peachy, until I decided to let my flashing addiction get the best of me and I decided to try a new ROM (no offense beanstown, just trying something new.) Anyways, I went into recovery, flashed the new ROM, of course wiping the device 4 times, as has become my habit. Went to turn it on, and the "Custom" screen pops up, then the phone just turns off.
I tried using Odin to return it to stock, but unless I'm using the wrong file, I'm getting the same result. Odin seemingly runs fine, but still no booting. Any ideas? The file I'm using with Odin is VRUAMDK_NoWipe. If there is a different one I should be using, please be kind enough to include a link for me. Thank you.
Just flash the full odin back to stock the version that is still rootable. That should do the trick some times not wiping is the issue.

I mentioned in my original post that I had attempted to use Odin to restore it back to stock. At this point, it doesn't really matter to me whether I can root or not, I'd just like it to turn back on. Shoot, I'd be happy with a boot loop right about now.

The no wipe mdk Odin file has caused issues with me. There is another Odin file floating around that should get you working again, although it causes full wipe.

reflash your verizon kernel, it will boot, you really didn't need to do odin, guess that is every ones quick fix. and if you are doing odin, after it flashes get into recovery and do a factory reset.
