HTC DHD not Booting - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone...
I`ve got a problem with my HTC desire HD and i want to know if it can be fixed and how to fix it... your help is truly appriciated
I was trying to flash a custom recovery through Termainal emulator, i read this method on a website. It was a code to be entered with SU access.
The flash process went well but when i rebooted my phone it did not started. There is no response to the power button or power+vol down but when i hold power+vol up keys together, the phone viberates 3 times and an orange light starts to blink, but the screen is still black.... at that time if i connect it to my pc it shows (qualcomm cdma technologies msm) device...
Please tell me is there a way to fix this and how? can i fix it from my pc?? Waiting for your replies.....

Hi guys, i am facing exact same thing which dannytgt faced (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6707785&postcount=1 )...but[/url] with no luck what so ever.....was running a stock rom in my hd2 3.14....wanted to try wp7 and did a task29....after that...hd2 doesnt go into bootloader screen....tried all possible combinations with/without sd,sim, holding vol down, vol up, both with power tapped...power holded etc etc...hd2 always goes into stick together screen and doesnt progress as there is os to load....opened up the mobile and tried with a pin to push the vol down switch directly also....all hardware keys were working gr8 (including vol down and up and power keys) whn win 6.5/android was running.
i know for the fact that this is reversable....if only my hd2 can get to bootloader...i will hv os running in a jiffy....

Wow, did you search? There is a thread right below yours with 13 comments for the same problem.
i did search for 2 days and tried the suggesting provided by the users...but nothing seem to work....i just need to get to the bootloader so that i can load a rom and move on to wp7....after task29...somehow hd2 never goes into bootloader screen...tried many times hoping for luck...still trying...
bootloader dont load
some more details...tried to task29 (doloop) with 100% success and then my tmo hd2 wont go into bootscreen what ever i do...its stuck for ever in "stick together"...i know there is no os to load...but i dont understand y cant my hd2 go intobootloader
so far i tried
with holding volume down and power key with a single tap
with holding volume down and holding power key
with holding volume down, volume up and power key with a single tap
with holding volume down and reset button
with/without sim
with/without SD
with/without plug in wall charger
with/without plug to pc via usb cable
observations...when i pull out the battery and put it back in and then connect to computer when the phone is still off....the charging indicator LED glows in orange.
when in this mode if i switch the phone on with power/end key....it doent start...i have to pull the usb out, the orange LED still glows...and if i tap the power/end key nothing happenes...i have to pullout the battery to get it to start and eventually get stuck in "stick together"..
would really appriciate if any1 can help me get my hd2 into bootloader screen...
resolved the problem myself.....hd2 is working like a charm....thanks for all your support.

[Q] HELP! Is my hero bricked?

Hi guys, I am feeling really nervous about this... So, the problem is, that I've just rooted my HTC GSM Hero and installed 2.2 ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=767886). Then I downloaded this app http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=892297. There I chose wrong icon (I didn't notice the icon was for FroydVillain) and rebooted device... Now I can't boot device into normal mode (it shows hero for a while, then turns into black screen, and nothing more happens) or recovery mode (it stucks when it shows HERO). I tried this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4467471&postcount=13 but it didn't work. I'm a complete beginner. Any ideas? Is my device really bricked? THANKS.
Boot into recovery, reflash the room. I dont know why would you anything to spl...

Stay calm... it's not necessarily bricked yet
First thing i would like you to do is charge your phone to max!
Try and turn on the phone and hold to "On" key and "Home" key together for 60 seconds. If this doesn't boot you to recovery, try again one more time! It's happened to me that i didn't realise the button wasn't pressed all the way down.
If that doesn't work then let it boot as normal and even though it goes to the black screen don't panic.
Do you have any of the android tools installed?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=502010
See there for help on how to get adb up and running and then come back here.
Another thing i'm curious about while we're here... when you boot the device as normal.. connect it to power, the orange (or green) led at the top should be off for a few seconds while the hero boots up... when it goes to this black screen that you see.. does the light come on?

OK, so, SDK is being installed now, and the phone is charging. What should I do next?

When my phone is off, the led is red. When I see that black screen, it is off... Is that bad??
Not necessarily.. it could just mean that it's not finishing it's boot up... let it charge for a while.
Your phone is most likely fine. You just confused it so it can't start up normally. We'll get you back in recovery mode and then you can reinstall your 2.2 rom.

So I'll charge the phone the whole night, and I'll try booting it in recovery mode tomorrow morning - I will post the result here Thanks
yes.. if it boots into recovery mode (which it should!) wipe everything and reflash... that should sort you out.

No, it unfortunately didn't boot.. I left it for an hour but it still didn't help.. I'll retry booting it, but anyway, any more ideas? Anyways, thanks.
Hi there
I'm assuming, that You know how to get into recovery, as You flashed a couple of things. Perhaps Your home key is broken
Question: do You have adb set up on Your computer? if yes - does it recognize Your phone ?
There is always option to run RRU...have You tried that ?
with regards
brat.haneq
have you tried booting holding VOLUME DOWN?

Yes, I have ADB, but when I type adb devices, it only writes: "List of devices attached" (does that mean that it recognize my phone?)
I'm not sure I know what RRU is

Yes, it finds HEROIMG,zip, then loads it, then checks it, and adter that nothing happens - the phone still doesn't boot.
ok, volume down key response is good
ADB apears not to discover Your phone, probably drivers problem ;/
Look for RRU file it's used for factory reseting entire phone.
You can download it from HTC.com site.
With regards
brat.haneq
EDIT: go to htc.com site. look for downlaoding software for Your phone. You will have to provide Your imei. and You will receive .exe file - that You will have to run on Your PC. You can also look for it on this forum, they should be around here somewhere (or perhaps shipped roms.com)

When I enter the S/N in the htc.com site, it shows: Sorry, this software download is not suitable for your device. I can download it from xda forum, but will this work?
Maybe there's some way to flash my recovery img via hboot (POWER + VOLUME DOWN)?
Try downloading usbdeview HERE plug the phone in,turn it on,leave it for 10-15 seconds for windows to recognize it...load usbdeview and uninstall and delete anything with android, htc, mass storage or adb in it thats showing as connected (on the right hand side) unplug phone......then download and install HTC Sync HERE let it install, then reboot (to be safe) plug the phone in and let its do its business,DONT let windows search and direct it to program files/htc sync/drivers (or similar) you should then have adb! If you dont it could be a problem with your misc.img i had this with my magic and fixed it with a post on this forum but will post it up if the first bit doesnt work
Any troubles gtalk me [email protected]

you have to do that with fastboot
I solved this problem! I just put the correct RUU in my sdcard and named it HEROIMG.zip and then turned on hboot - it flashed the RUU and now I got my phone alive! thanks for your help guys

HELP! soft / hard bricked my evo 3D?!

Hi guys.
I usually can fix my mistakes but this time I'm stumped. I think I bricked my evo but I don't know if its soft brick or a hard brick. Based on the other posts online mine doesn't really match up.
Here's what I did,
It was late and i was doing a restore on a miui rom through my clockworkmod recovery and it looked to be stuck at the begining for over an hour which is a really long time so i pulled the battery in the middle.
Not smart but my phone came back on and i tried a few backups and it kept happening but i decided to pull the battery one last time and just flash something new but
This time it wouldnt come back on. Eek!
This is what it does,
It will onlyy power on if you plug it in and then press all the buttons. It will boot past the htc logo and then go to the begining of the miui boot animation and stops.
It will not get into fastboot or recovery by holding power and vol down, nothing happens. When you plug it in. The red light comes on for a few seconds then turns off so it wont charge either.
Im really stumped guys. I tried the hard brick guide
Here.
http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...k-guide-hard-brick-only-wont-turn-charge.html. and that didnt do anything.
HELP!!!
So, you cannot get into the bootloader screen at all, yet it does boot if you press all 3 buttons? I would pull the battery and let it sit for a while, The other thing I would do is leave the battery out, and plug it into a Windows PC, and see what devices show up. (Particularly within the first 5 seconds, just watch the device manager or the "new devices" screen to see what's showing up)
I would try
Code:
adb reboot recovery
That might get you into recovery in which you can do a superwipe and then flash a working rom.
If it doesnt try
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
then flash an ruu.
It does show up as something when i plugged it in when windows tried to install drivers and ive taken the battery out like a hundred times but no success.
As far as adb method i wasnt finding a clear way to perform that. Is there a walkthrough that you recomend i try?
And thanks for responding guys
fixed!!!!
guys i fixed my phone!!! iTzLOLtrain thank you so much!

Bricked CAT S50 after general instability

Hello and thank you for anyone bothering to read this.
I got a CAT S50 and was experiencing a bit of instability lately.
I've run LTE_S0201121.0_S50_0.023.00 without a hitch for a while, then it decided to crash several applications, from google play to any other app open.
That's when I decided to do a factory reset and see if it would help. Performed the rest without a hitch, but the errors kept coming back. At one point, the screen went black. I knew the phone was on because the backlit was working. I hard-reseted it (hold the power button for 30 seconds or more) and rebooted. The phone froze on the CAT splash logo screen and that's when I hard-reset it again. But when I tried to turn it on, the phone simply refused to work. No vibrate, sounds or anything. It's dead.
When I plug it on the computer's USB, the PC makes a sound as if it detected the device, but when I go to the device manager, I get this QHSUSB_BULK with the yellow exclamation mark
I want to know if it is possible to unbrick this phone and if so, if there is a tutorial or if someone can direct me to the correct procedure. I looked everywhere for the ftf file for this phone to attempt this with flashtool, but I simply can't find it.
ANY help of any form is greatly appreciated.
Sadly I had the same thing happen to me, just a black screen. It decided to delete recovery mode or I just cant get to it.
Power Off the Phone,
While pressing Press Vol Down + Cam Button insert a Powersource -- hold down Vol Down + Cam
Recoverymenu should start
Then flash the original rom via ADB Sideload or SD Card.
btw. i have flashed the LTE_S0201121.0_S50_0.023.00 but i want test older ROMs!
can anyone link or upload an older ROM ?
Guy i have the same issue, can you please help me
I got the same problem I search lots place but still nothing then normal update rom anyone can help?

Need HELP. Its bricked? What to do?

Im sorry if this isnt the correct subforum, cant find one better as im new and in panic.
I have an Alcatel One Touch Pixi 3 (10) 8079
Recently tried to install a custom recovery with this tut: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=67953659&postcount=1944 and everything was OK till it finished and then powered OFF device as there was nothing more to do...
Now it doesnt pass the start screen "Alcatel One touch powered by android" with this https://i.imgur.com/RhN9hoM.jpg IN A LOOP.
Tried to hold POWER and VOL+ even POWER and VOL- or just POWER to power off the device but theres no answer from, it just stays on the loop. If i plug the usb, windows sound of usb off and on in a loop too...
Is there something i can do? Can i get helped please? Thanks alot.

You have wrong twrp image. I had also this problem (like in your picture) and I find another twrp image and put it and now everything is OK.
If you want to use SP Flash tool you must install MTK USB Vcom drivers and also it is not bad to have Mobile_Upgrade_S_Gotu2_v5.0.6 installed (because of drivers).
