Hi all,
sorry im a newb to sony and am having some trouble.
I have unlocked my bootloader using dooms instructions and got a success message. I backed up the TA and restored after this process.
Everything seems ok.
I then tried the one click recovery doom bat file and got a success message from that too only i cant load recovery.
I have powered off but when i boot up i dont get any led light just the sony screen and no abount of button bashing helps.
So.. i tried the software option. i have exposed reboot and tried into recovery, tried titanium root pro, also downloaded a couple of apps supposed to do the trick (one specifically for xperia devices costing £1.25) and nothing.
I realised the one click was for the .402 firmware and mine is .55 so i searched, found dooms image for that, swapped the image files out and again a success message but the same recovery absence.
I'm assuming that if anything went wrong id have been informed via the software or with a bricked phone.
Is there a way that i can confirm all the steps i have taken? bootloader and recovery?
sorry if i have waffled i tend to do that.
thanks for your help
You can folow this guide to unbrick

Okay.... I think you can manually flash the DoomKernel with CMD and you get CWM and TWRP and philz. DoomLord explains exactly how to flash the kernel with Command. So you will be okay with that. Make sure that you use .55 supported kernel.

I tried the command prompt but it said I had a dll missing... Shall I just install that file and try again.
More than anything I was wondering if there is an app I could use to verify all steps involved.
And to clarify I don't have a brick I was talking hypothetically but thanks.

omfg.... did you atleast read any post? i don't need to flash anything... i need for flashtool to just detect my phone...
Or you can try this: after you have flashed a firmware on your phone, reinstall the drivers (SEUS and PC Companion) then reboot your computer. Once PC rebooted turn on USB debugging and Unknown Sources and open up flashtool, it should work.

too late ... but solution
download and paste spearately chargemon(file) and xrecovery(file). i think both are in tar format. they should have been installed with xrecovery. but, maybe u accidentally deleted them or corrupted them or 3rd-party-apps could have done the corruption. download and paste spearately chargemon(file) and xrecovery(file) to phone's memory (system/bin/PASTE HERE). if the one or more of the files i specified existed already, you should replace them with the downloaded ones as it is possible that they are corrupted.
THIS IS THE WAY TO GET xRECOVERY BACK coz u said u cant boot into recovery.
(NOT THE SOLUTION TO DRIVERS PROBLEM).
I am trying to root my friends s3. Seems to have worked but instead of having the normal options in recovery mode, its missing "install from sdcard"
I haven't done anything different to how I went about rooting my s3.
Anyone?

Has you GS3's friend a SD card plug in at least ? Using CWM or CWM Touch ?
Else reflash CWM via Odin could be a solution.
When we first initially flash via odin, no. Tried to reflash but no luck.

Flash the unroot package that Chainfire provide to cancel all you have done so far in the rooting process then try once more from the beginning.
So i finally unlocked my bootloader on my p769. After i unlocked it i went to recovery and restored my backup to a 20F T-mobile P769 rom (yes i know this was stupid, I should have installed recovery via fastboot while I had it open). My touch screen is borked and I have no recovery set up.
Things I've tried:
To turn on USB debugging, the backup i restored does not have a homescreen so I cannot access the settings to turn it on.
The KDZ offline flash method, but it always stops at 15% even though i've uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers countless times.
"Upgrade recovery" via the LG software tool. It gets to the part where it downloads the file and even after 2 hours it doesn't download. My hosts file did not have LGs IP when i tried this.
Is there something I'm doing wrong? Is there a button combination to force my phone to go to fastboot mode? Or can i got from s/w upgrade mode to fastboot mode? This is really frustrating.
Alright so i managed to turn USB debugging on, but i have no root or recovery. Is there anything I can do from here?
EDIT: managed to get root and installed busybox the correct busybox. i can't seem to get the recovery to install though (im using the l9 recovery installer APK. It says the recovery is installed but it won't reboot into recovery and the LEDs dont flash when i power on the phone). My phones touchscreen is still borked.

Even if your bootloader is unlocked you still have to install a ROM that is made for your phone. Just go to backup/restore then restore from sd and pick your backup. Good luck!

Today my DNA said the Wi-Fi was "turning on" and it just hangs there. It never actually turns on or connects to a wireless network. I have tried rebooting the phone, shutdown, using airplane mode, etc. Even did a factory reset and it's still doing the same thing.
I tried "WiFi fixer" from the Play Store, that didn't help either.
Phone has always been stock, no root.
Any suggestions?
Turn off fastboot and reboot. Then see if it works. If not only option might be to restore to factory settings.

The ruu won't root or put a custom rom on your phone. The ruu will erase your phone completely and put it back to the way it came out of the box on the stock rom. In your case it will be the newest update that's the ruu I suggest using. It's very easy to do just follow the instructions on the computer screen. Hopefully it can fix the issue if it doesn't it probably hardware related and if that's the case and your within your one year warranty try and get a replacement. But we can cross that bridge when we get there. For now get the newest ruu which is 3.0.6 I believe from here.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B32gqnbh2ZecYTlvV1dlZTVRS0E/preview?pli=1
That is the direct download link. The ruu needs to be run on a Windows computer I recommend Windows 7 and have the phones drivers installed for it to work properly.

Hey guys, after flashing the firmware and the RUU twice using the link provided the Wi Fi is working but it's still acting a little funky here and there. Earlier this morning, the phone rebooted when I tried to turn on Wi Fi. After it booted up, I was able to turn Wi Fi on/off several times and it worked perfectly.
Any chance that putting cyanogenmod or something on there would fix these intermittent glitches?
What would I do for a bootloader and root?
Newbie here, did some reading last night but there's so much.
If you look in the original development thread you will find it. Go to the website download the one for the DNA and then follow the guide. Once you achieve soff you need to flash a custom recovery. I recommend the twrp 2.6 beta it seems to work when flashing all the kit Kat roms I haven't tried 2.7 yet but if your feeling adventurous you can try that to. To flash a recovery you need to put your phone in fastboot and then use the command fastboot flash recovery and then you have your recovery on your phone. Then you can flash what you want. If you want to do this and need any help direct message me and I can help you out.
