Yes, if using twrp, choose wipe, advanced, wipe cache-dalvik-data-system
then flash away

So I have been using ICS Crumble which it has it's own kernal. And Now I want to use a different rom that uses a different kernal. How would I do this safely?
If it is a CM9 ROM from the development forum then you can just flash it. The kernel will be replaced automatically

But wouldn't that cause boot looping if i use odin since after I'm done it'll reboot? Or should I just use
Recovery to put them both? If so should I do the kernal first?

Which ROM are you trying to flash? If it is Odin flash able then it will just replace the kernel you currently have. You will only have issues if you flash a ROM without an inbuilt kernel

Not a problem. I assume you are otherwise stock? If so, you just need to download the stock ROM from the development forum and flash it from your recovery. You can wipe cache and dalvik, but that's it if you want to keep your apps and settings intact. If you want to start over from scratch, you would do a factory reset. Going to that extreme should be unnecessary, though.

What about the stock systemUi.odex file for S4 running ME7?
So I flashed the Dirty Unicorn ROM that is apparently AOSP and Android 4.3.1. They have a custom kernel you can install that allows you to do many awesome features. I'm new to android and don't know much about these things, so my question is can anyone help me by telling me how do I install that custom kernel? Thanks!

Download and flash it like any ROM.

I'm pretty sure Dirty Unicorns comes with the kernel built in.

So just go to CWM Recovery and flash it? Would I need to wipe everything again even though I'm already on the ROM?

Yes to the first part and no to the second. You could just wipe caches after flashing it, but even that isn't needed.

Yes the rom has to be based on NC5, just like the X-Note, you might get an NAB based rom to work. But, you can't go back to mj4 or older you will soft brick your device.
What recovery are you using ? Some roms will only work with a certain recovery. Make sure you check the recovery listed in the thread before flashing. Wipe the old rom, cache, and delvik cache in recovery before flashing new rom. Enjoy !!

You can flash any of the Note 3 Roms ,updates, mods and so on just read everything carefully! And do research on the roms you wanna flash. Read through all the posts if you need to know something. Most of the time its been asked before and the answers are out there. The xda search bar is a useful tool for such things and if you dnt find what you need just ask around. Theres alot of good kind people here that will help.
Thank u

You could look for a jelly bean ROM but just in case look for Ice Cream Sandwich ROM first . Then flash it and when you get the jelly bean ROM you're going to need to download the kernel for it

its on the first post of the tread.
Status 7 error just means that their are some asserts in the rom that act up when the proper recovery version isn't being used. If your going to flash Carbon KK rom your Cwm needs to be 6.0.4.8 or 6.0.5.0

That won't work, you need to flash a rom in order to update your recovery as continue to upgrade from different android versions. Try flashing a ics rom and your recovery will go up.
