Yes the rom has to be based on NC5, just like the X-Note, you might get an NAB based rom to work. But, you can't go back to mj4 or older you will soft brick your device.
What recovery are you using ? Some roms will only work with a certain recovery. Make sure you check the recovery listed in the thread before flashing. Wipe the old rom, cache, and delvik cache in recovery before flashing new rom. Enjoy !!

You can flash any of the Note 3 Roms ,updates, mods and so on just read everything carefully! And do research on the roms you wanna flash. Read through all the posts if you need to know something. Most of the time its been asked before and the answers are out there. The xda search bar is a useful tool for such things and if you dnt find what you need just ask around. Theres alot of good kind people here that will help.

Thank u

Not a problem. I assume you are otherwise stock? If so, you just need to download the stock ROM from the development forum and flash it from your recovery. You can wipe cache and dalvik, but that's it if you want to keep your apps and settings intact. If you want to start over from scratch, you would do a factory reset. Going to that extreme should be unnecessary, though.

What about the stock systemUi.odex file for S4 running ME7?

Stock unrooted 4.3 rom

I have an mdk rooted s4 meaning that I can flash roms and other stuff like that through a recovery like twrp. I was wondering if there was a flashable zip for the new update , mj7, that is safe to flash and is unrooted. Thanks
Not unless you want to lose custom recovery and lok'd bootloader. A 4.3 rom will come out soon.

AOSP roms cause no boot?

Whenever I flash a AOSP based rom my device will not boot. But if I flash a touchwiz rom its all good. Any ideas why? Same process for them both. Though I have to flash gapps after aosp.

The obvious question: what build is your phone? Are you MDK with LOKI-enabled custom recovery?
If so, did you flash the proper kernel to support your ROM? AOSP ROMs won't work with the stock kernel.
If you're not running MDK build, then you can't run AOSP-based ROMs.
Using TWRP. And yes im on mdk. Not flashing any kernals.

If your mdk have you tried wiping dalvick and cache before rebooting and after flashing? Might get you over the top.
Is your recovery twrp 2.5.0.2? If not you might consider using it.

I could be wrong but i think the first TWRP recovery that supported Loki exploit was 2.5.0.2 but that doesn't explain why you are able to flash TW roms as that requires Loki as well. Make sure you're not on 2.6.0.0 I did hear some issues with TWRP higher then 2.5.0.2 but they may have been ironed out. I have stayed with 2.5.0.2 and likely wont update ever from it unless i have to.

Any Twrp higher than 2.5.0.2 is horrible, is laggy it freezes and half the time it won't start up at all

Yeah there is a flashable some where in here. Just flash it in twrp that you have installed now. It will revert it back to the older version. Good practice after flashing the replacement recovery is to reboot to recovery after install to make sure it took before rebooting to system.

Did you try going into twrp and go to advanced then fix permission. . that usually works
So it seems anything above 4.2.2 will cause no boot for me. I get stuck on the samsung custom screen. Have not tried the fix permissions thing though. Doubtful that will fix this problem.

Camera failed. Error....(Solved)

Ok so I've flash a couple of Roms in the past dew weeks...but now ..anything other than stock works with the camera.
As soon as I clean flash a new room and open the camera it says "camera failed"
I've tried clearing cache, wiping app data. .. Clean installs. Dirty installs...All kinds of installs lol. Wth!.
Any ideas?
Solved! Thanks to @Soooperstar for suggesting the fix initially.
***Solution***: flash the stock TW Kernel or any other TW based kernel from the threads and it should work.

I JUST STARTED HAVING SAME ISSUE GLAD YOU POSTED YOUR FIX :good:
Mine does this intermittently too. Just go into app manager and clear the data for the camera app and it starts working again. I haven't figured out what's going yet but this fixes it. When you flashed the kernal did you also wipe cache and dalvik?
If so that's probably what actually fixed it for you...
Nope. I didn't wipe. It has not happened at all after the kernel flashed and I fixed permissions.

If you are running MJ4 this will work for you.
Download the kernel attached at the link. https://www.dropbox.com/s/6q9vdr16qjw7g1c/SM-N900P_Stock_MJ4_Kernel.zip
Move the file to your SD or ext SD.
Boot into recovery
Select install
Find the kernel and swipe right to flash.
Reboot.

Yes, if using twrp, choose wipe, advanced, wipe cache-dalvik-data-system
then flash away
