Wifi stuck turning on after kernel flashing? - HTC Desire 601

So in effort of trying to install the 4.4.2 OTA, a file I flashed with fastboot has now some how made my wifi unusable. My wifi is stuck turning on. I've Googled around plenty and all of the possible fixes have not worked.
I've tried -
* Removing the battery and letting the phone sit for awhile.
* Turning off the network optimizer
* Removing the SD card and rebooting
* Flashing back to the stock kernel
* Dialing *#*#526*#*# to reload the driver
* Factory defaulting the phone
* Shaking the phone violently if some how the wifi adapter came loose in the phone
I've been unable to update to 4.4.2, going into the options menu shows that the IP address and MAC address is unavailable.
My next idea would be to try a different rom because I've seen this issue come up when flashing an incompatible ROM on my tablet. But I can't find any ROMs for the HTC Desire 601.
Any idea guys?

Thanks for the quick reply, I tried flashing the stock boot.img from the 4.2.2 OTA I got here in the Firmware.zip - https://drive.google.com/uc?id=0B-kSF8g8H7KuWEt5RVdqajVuaTg&export=download but it made no difference.
My kernel version is -
3.4.10-g23358b6
[email protected] #1
SMP PREEMPT
Is that 4.2.2's stock kernel?

boot.img from OTA is for 4.4.2. You need stock boot for 4.2.2. Look here

That boot.img is from the firmware.zip right? I tried flashing that, it made no difference. Do you know where I could find the full stock ROM for the Desire 601?

If you have 4.2.2 boot.img from firmware.zip in your OTA will not working.

What do you mean? I don't understand the last part of your sentence.
UPDATE: Got it working!
I was able to get 4.4.2 successfully installed with my wifi working. I took the full 4.4.2 zaracl TWRP backup from here - https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B8-7I2_Vt73ldUNPd2c4X0xoQXc/ put it in a TWRP restore folder and restored it, ignoring my own files. It took about 2 minutes at the HTC screen to load, but it looks to be working fine.

[Q] Flashing CM11/10.2 Problem.

Hi, first of all, my English is bad and i'm a noob at installing custom roms
My HOX+ is rooted and i have the TWRP Recovery installed.
So, i downloaded the newest CM11 Nightly for my device (enrc2b) from the Cyanogenmod site.
When i try to flash it with TWRP it says:
Skipping MD5 check: no MD5 file found
Can't install this package on top of incompatible data. Please try another package or run a factory reset
E:Error executing updater binary in zip ' /sdcard/cm-11-20140902-NIGHTLY-enrc2b.zip
Error flashing zip ' /sdcard/cm-11-20140902-NIGHTLY-enrc2b.zip
I also downloaded a Snapshot version of CM11
It says:
Skipping MD5 check: no MD5 file found
set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed
E:Error executing updater binary in zip ' /sdcard/cm-11-20140308-SNAPSHOT-M4-enrc2b.zip
Error flashing zip ' /sdcard/cm-11-20140308-SNAPSHOT-M4-enrc2b.zip
So finally i downloaded the CM10.2.1 Version
I wiped all cache and data and did a factory reset.
After flashing the .zip and rebooting the phone, but i got stuck in a boot loop (i think) because i waited like 20 minutes but the boot animation didn't change (blue guy with the arrow). Did i do something wrong
I just restored my phone to the backup i made (stock rom)
If you need any information about my phone or something just say it.
I also heard about using CWM instead of TWRP but i don't know how to change it.
PLZ HELP :crying:

Install this recovery for installing CM.
And don't forget to redo your backup after installing the new recovery before installing CM.

I'm working with a Mac so it might take a while before i understand everything but i'll let you know if it worked.
So yesterday i installed the CWM and flashed Cyanogenmod11 Nightlies at 00:10. I got the boot screen with the guy and the arrow spinning, but when i wake up at 7:00 it was still in the Cyanogenmod boot screen wit the arrow (the arrow was lagging).
So i tried flashing the Snapshot version and it also didnt pass the screen with the arrow (lagging)
After that i flashed the CM10.2 and the arrow wasnt lagging anymore but it didnt pass the screen with the arrow
Every time before i installed another version i did a Factory reset in CWM
So am i doing something wrong plz help?

Do you mean with "boot.img" the recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.4.8-enrc2b.img
This is all i did (i dunno of the screenshot will display i uploaded it as attachment)
I've flashed the recovery.img, thats also the only thing i downloaded on the CWM site.
I also downloaded the Cyanogenmod rom on the CyanogenMod Download site or do i have to download it from the CWM enrc2b Roms?
Edit: I've found out that the boot.img is needed for the device to boot and that i can flash it in recovery.
But is there a special HOX+ boot.img or a Cyanogenmod boot.img or whatever i need? And where can i find it

you can find it inside the rom zip file, just extract it into your adb/fastboot folder and flash it (in fastboot mode) using "fastboot flash boot boot.img". also i recommend (maybe not necessary) using "fastboot erase cache" before and after flashing boot.img.
Also you may need to reflash rom in recovery after flashing boot.img.

Alright i did what u said and i have 1 more question;
If i want to go back to the stock rom, do i need to flash a "stock" boot.img?
Edit: Cyanogenmod is working, i only need to install the Google apps (i think).
Stock boot image
You can flash the Nik3r version to come back to the stock boot image.
And you need to flash the GAPPS in recovery for the Google apps

If you want to go back to stock completely (including relocked bootloader) you will need everything completely stock and matching your phones CID. Of course you will need to flash the corresponding boot.img for every rom. But as far as i know/tried, nik3rs oxp_kk kernel works for all 4.4 roms and the other version works for all Sense5 based custom roms and maybe stock rom (if you don't need relocked bootloader).

The only thing i notice is the fast battery drain, is it possible to underclock some thing so the battery last longer, and which apps are good for that?
And if i want to go back to the stock rom, i just have to go back to my "stock rom backup" in recovery and flash nik3rs oxp_kk kernel?

no, oxp_kk is just for 4.4 (kitkat) AOSP like roms. there's another non- kk version which works with 4.2.2/sense5 roms, but i don't know about stock roms. There's also a fallback kernel version which should work with all stock and custom 4.2.2/Sense 5 roms.

I have done it

I have converted my padfone x to a padfone s
The basic way I did it was follow the directions for installing cm12 boot cm12 using fastboot boot cwm6.img instead of flashing unlocking the bl using cwm6 ( I was not running a tested version of att software) then flashing the flash the newest ww padfone s firmware from their webpage then doinf a data format then rebooting to stock recovery and flashing the asus firmware a second time then factory reset.. I kept BL unlock and did not flash new recovery because I will unroot when 5.0 is released. second bonus is incall recording. but the minus is the mobile net connection is based on strongest signal not fastest and LTE band 17 needs to be enabled on each boot using anycut But in my opinion the benefits are way better the the lte thing HSPA is really fast enough. IF these instructions dont make any sense to you dont ask for help they are to advanced for you
Update
LTE has worked it self out. this conversion is 100% and my device is still unlocked BL and SIM

good luck first boot takes along time
also flash stock recovery then in fastboot boot to cwm6 using fastboot boot cwm6.img and when it loads do a data and system format flash the update from asus padfone s support page. i used the WW one then power off not reboot then reboot into stock recovery (took some time) then flash the update with stock and factory reset
This is the firmware package i used.
http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/Mobile_Phone/PadFone_S/UL-ASUS_T00N-WW-11.10.7.11-user.zip
After root with this
A new thing I've noticed with this waw firmware it supports incall call recording
an interesting thing. the zip file from asus does not update the modem.

After bricking my phone, I managed to push the zip file into recovery mode. However, I cannot update my phone to WW version as it states that Padfone X is a T00D instead of T00N!!!
How did you manage to push the files into it?
Or you just installed the CM12?

Flashed stock ROM but not booting up

Model:XT1521 Retasia(Indian)
So let's get on with the story
I own a moto e 2 4g variant. I unlocked the bootloader of the device,installed a custom recovery and flashed a custom ROM. Everything went well;I was trying a new ROM almost everyday(5.1.1 and 6.0.1) until one day when I decided to go back to stock ROM.I downloaded the official 6.0 stock ROM,installed it and started the device.The phone booted,went straight to recovery and showed erasing.The problem starts here.It showing eraseing and rebooted after some time and I thought that it's going to boot up into stock 6.0.But I was wrong.The phone booted and again did the same thing and this went on in a loop.So I decided to try it once more.This time I did two more things prior to installing the ROM;
Fastboot erase all
Fastboot erase system - w
Till then in bootloader it showed official in software status. But after those two erase commands it started showing modified.
Even then the result was the same I.e.showing erasing and rebooting. So I thought that I will go back to custom ROM for the time being.all went well, phone booted up but there was no signal. The phone was not accepting any Sims. I went to bootloader and immediately found out the cause. It was showing not found under baseband. So I seperately flashed a modem but to no luck.As of now I have tried all stock rims available(5.0.2,5.1.1,6.0) but the device is not booting up.
Any help will be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
This happened to me with CM13, the same thing happened with the baseband number, and I couldn't even enter in the recovery, so I had to manually flash the Stock ROM via adb. It happened to me again when I tried to root my phone even with the systemless root, the phone just doesn't boot up, I'd recommend you to flash the basebands found in the forums, if that doesn't fix it, you'll have to manually flash the stock rom via adb or you can use the easy tool, it's fairly simple if you follow the steps, I'll leave the links bellow.

I can't flash any ROMs on my Honor 5X KIW L-21, or OTA update it.

So, I've been trying to flash CyanogenMod 12.1, since I'm still stuck on EMUI 3.1, because I can't flash OTA updates (I've tried everything, dload method, and yes I have unrooted and used the stock recovery)
Every time I try to flash a ROM via TWRP it turns off for a second and then boots back to TWRP starting screen. Also, when I boot my phone the boot animation's Honor H is red for some reason.
Thanks in advance!

Are you sure you have the right boot.img and recovery.img?
Usually that symptoms are due to messed partitions.
Did you flash current img files or did you got them from a different rom version?

Well, actually I once bricked my phone and had to restore through a TWRP backup, that only had the System and Boot partitions and it was the B130 version when I had B140, but it worked. So, do I need to completely flash everything or can I just pick up some files from somewhere?

You can use B130 as it is also Lollipop. But all the img from the same rom. You can update to B350 manually after, but first you need a stable rom working.
Let us know man if you fixed your phone. So if not, we can give firther recommendations.

Hello,
I've installed a custom recovery, SuperSU and the xposed framework on my Wileyfox Swift 2 Plus and yesterday I've received an OTA update with wich I was (as expected) unable to update my phone. (it just rebooted to TWRP and did nothing) On their website I was only able to find an older build. I think what I have to do is install the stock recovery(to install the update then switch back to a custom one), but I don't know where to get it from.

Does anyone know how can I fully revert to stock so I can install the update, would a factory reset solve my problem?

Exactly the same here. I flashed TWRP so I can install SuperSU for root access, now I've flashed back the stock recovery to apply the update and it ends in "Error".
It's also not possible to apply the downloaded zip-package manually (not via TWRP and not via Cyanogen recovery).

It's not an option for me to do a full reset each time they (who ever it might be in the future) release an update.
I bought this phone because I thought it might be easier to update/ get root access compared with e.g. Samsung devices, but in the end I must say Cyanogen OS is really bad and I hope there will be some mods soon, so I can get these bad/restrictive stock-OS off my phone...

I haven't checked myself but linuxct seems to say its an img file. You need to flash img files with fastboot. Have you tried unziping the .zip file and seeing if there are img files (e.g system.img, recovery.img)
If you don't know how to use fastboot here is a good tutorial: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2277112
Hope this helps.

You can enable that inside Developer options > Root access. There's no need to either alter your system nor unlock your bootloader if your only concern is root privileges.

Cyanogen is no more, Wileyfox's switching to an AOSP-based ROM through the following OTAs, which will be Android 7.0 Nougat and will start rolling on february. You've more info here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/swift-2/how-to/official-wileyfox-statement-regarding-t3528844

No, I think that is only there in CyanogenMod (the community based custom rom) not in the Cyanogen OS (the proprietary OS for businesses). As far as I know no OEM can release an android phone with Gapps and root. We have an option there called "OEM unlock" which will allow you to unlock your bootloader (from a computer) but nothing else that would grant root out of box.

Just flashing back to the stock recovery does not remove SuperSU. Due to your error I'm assuming you have a non-systemless root. In order to remove SuperSU you must flash http://downloadmirror.co/Uot/UPDATE-unSU.zip (with TWRP), and if that doesn't work I would recommend flashing back to full stock cyngn from: https://cyngn.com/support.
Cheers!

You can revert by flashing the system.img via fastboot from the very same zip I mentioned before. You can get it here: http://builds.cyngn.com/factory/marmite/cm-13.1.4-ZNH2KAS5RM-marmite-signed-fastboot-c64f8f5d87.zip

Thank you very much, flashing the system.img with
Code:
fastboot flash system system.img
fixed the issue and I was able to update my system to the latest version and since it only changed the system partition, no data (files from internal/external storage) nor apps (not even their data) were deleted. After the update I had to flash TWRP, SuperSU and Xposed again.

Thank you, but unfortunately I've read this hint after trying the unsu method described here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63615067
I've installed the unsu-zip package and flashed the original boot.img via TWRP. It did not help, but since I did this I have another warning message when booting: "The dm-verity is not started in enforcing mode."
In the end I managed to get the update by installing the original zip package again and after this the OTA update worked.
What still remains is the new "dm-verity error message" right after booting....
Does anyone know if there is anywhere I can find the files to manually update to the new AOSP based ROM. Or has Wileyfox not released it?
(Or has anyone captured the PTA link?)
There is currently no new AOSP ROM. I've received only Cyanogen OS update (probably the last one?). According the Wileyfox statement on facebook, the new ROM (Nougat) will be released in the february...

Nah they are releasing an update first to transition to their new rom.

Then later (between February and end of Q1) they will release nougat. Its an easy mistake to make as they aren't too clear about it.
Thanks anyway.
It is unclear what kind of ROM will they release. According the statement it should be bloatware free OS
AOSP, Lineage OS, something else?
I really like cyanogenmod, so I hope there will be Lineage OS ROM in the future...
The new update
Hi, I'm not in the least technologically minded so please don't take the mick when I ask, will the new update delete the cyanogen os? Or is that something I will have to do? If so, what is safe to delete without damaging my phone?
Wow, that was a couple more questions then I had thought!
Thanks all.
Hello,
iam very frustrated by this OTA thing..
I had TWRP and SuperSU installed and i've tried everything but I can't install this OTA -.-" everytime i've tried it it gives me just an "ERROR".
1. I flashed the unSU zip in twrp.
2. I set the switch for stock recovery in developer options.
3 I fastboot flashed the stock recovery.img
4 I fastboot flashed the stock system.img
Then rebooted and did the update it just runs to like 20% and stops and then it shows me "ERROR" ..
Can somebody experienced help me pls This update is annoying I had to block it out of my mobile data use because it would eat up all my mobile data
EDIT: Maybe I have to relock my bootloader?

I don't think it'd be a good idea to mess with the bootloader for now. Also, I uninstalled SuperSU from the app. If you have xposed I suggest you uninstall that too (At least that's what I did). Sorry I can't help more I 'm still a little newby myself.

Sadly, an OEM cannot rely on community-driven software, so it surely won't be CyanogenMod/Lineage. But, that doesn't mean that in the future we wouldn't be able to enjoy it thanks to custom ROM development

Welcome to the community!
This depends on what you understand about 'new update'. If the new update you're talking about is the currently rolling OTA, the one that's getting prompted on every phone right now, no, that won't delete CyanogenOS yet, but prepare the device to upgrade to a CyanogenOS-free Android 7.0 ROM, which will happen in a month or so. You won't have to do anything but let the phone update each and every single time it requests it. Cyanogen itself is not something you can remove as a user, unless you install what's called a custom ROM (this means, a different ROM software than the one provided by Wileyfox), so, you don't need to worry about it but keeping your device up-to-date as soon as it prompts you with an update ^_^

Try relocking like you said, but before, flash everything included in the latest CyanogenOS fasboot image zip (from here). To flash all of them at once, execute each and every of the following commands:
Code:
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
fastboot flash cache cache.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot flash dsp adspso.bin
fastboot flash devcfg devcfg.mbn
fastboot flash aboot emmc_appsboot.mbn
fastboot flash keymaster keymaster.mbn
fastboot flash rpm rpm.mbn
fastboot flash sbl1 sbl1.mbn
fastboot flash splash splash.img
fastboot flash tz tz.mbn
Once done, relock your bootloader by doing:
Code:
fastboot oem lock
Please note, this probably doesn't fully lock your bootloader, as some propietary DRM keys might've been lost during the unlock process...
Good luck and please, keep us posted!
