I recently purchased a pair of Xiaomi Piston earbuds. They work perfectly on my computers and other Android phone, but do not work at all on my Z2. When you plug them in, audio will play from the phone speakers as though no earbuds are plugged in. I have other earbuds I use with my Z2 that work perfectly.
Anyone have any tips? Thanks!

My friend has an iPhone and he uses V-Moda headphones and when I bought this phone, he wanted to see the output and connected the headphones to XPS and it doesn't recognize the headphones even though its 3.5mm and on the top the music plays through the speaker in the back.
I have checked the headphones with several other phones like HTC and Nokia they are working fine.
Does anyone know why and how to use these on XPS?
If there are any good headphones for XPS, please suggest.
The ones provided are cheap and sound is poor.
Well i have some kind of 'issue' with this too.
When i connect any headphones other than the stock ones that came with it, it doesn't show up in the notification bar (no headphone icon is appearing).
However, the headphones are working perfectly fine.
The problem i have isn't such a big deal, because they are working anyway.
I reckon any 3.5mm headphones should work, i have no idea what could possibly cause your problem.
I use skullcandy's on it btw, but they are just cheap headphones with bad sound quality
I have a Sprint Galaxy S3 and I have a pair of headphones with a mic. When I have the headphones plugged in and trying to make a phone call, the call audio plays through the phones speakers and not the headphones. When the call is over and the headphones are still plugged in the headphones no longer play audio. Audio plays through the phones speaker. I have to unplug and plug the head phones back in.
Anyone have this same problem ?
Its very strange but the only headphones I have found that work perfectly with the S3 are the included ones. I also have Ultimate Ears and Sure headphones with mics but they dont play well with the S3.
Have you tried the included ones? This does not solve your problem but out of curiosity.
Do you guys know of any in-line remote control earphones that work with the mini pro?
I've been searching the internet and apparently, the mini pro has a non-standard 3.5 jack. If you plug some regular earphones in the socket or use the pre-packaged earphones in another device the sound gets distorted.
I've been using the earphones that came pre-packaged with the phone but they're really tatty and worn out now. And they only have 1 button. (I know there are apps that can rewind/fastforward etc based on how many times you press the button, but I'd like more control.
So which models should I go for? You'd think that you'd be safe buying any Sony earphones, but even they aren't 100% compatible with the mini pro. Failing that, is there some kind of adapter I could use?

It's a standard 3.5 jack in the mini pro, no distortion with other headphones. Which means you should be able to use any standard pair of remote control headphones.
I don't use volume control headphones, but I sure don't use the junkphones sony provided with the phone, no problems whatsoever.
Not quite the same but bluetooth adapters have buttons (like the mw600)
Thanks but I listen to music a lot on my phone and I can't spare the battery life.
It's definitely a non-standard 3.5mm jack on my mini pro. I know because I've tried other earphones with it and the sound is distorted. Similarly, I've tried the pre-packaged earphones in other devices and there is hardly any treble at all unless I hold down the mic button.
Has anyone got their XMP working with a remote-control headset?
any headphone will work, its a standard 3,5mm jack, im using a brainwavz headphone and works perfectly
Battery lasts longer when using a bluetooth like the mw600 for playing music through headphones
as the adapter is the amp (The headphones plug into it) Also the headphone jack on the phone is a standard!

Are you seriously saying that having the bluetooth constantly switched-on and paired to the earphones gives a BETTER battery life? That's probably the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. The amps inside earphones are tiny and hardly draw any power at all. If we were talking about big home theater speakers then you'd probably be right.
And it's definitely not a standard 3.5mm jack. Like I say, I've tried normal earphones in the mini pro and I've tried the earphones that came with the mini pro in other devices and the sound is totally distorted. I have to keep the answer call button constantly pressed down to get a decent sound out of them, which isn't practical.
So does anybody know which wired, remote-control earphones WILL work with the mini pro?
Afaik android doesn't support the separate play, pause, stop, next button for controlling music.
I had the wh-701 earphone which came default with nokia n8. It got the remote control for music but none of the buttons ever work with my lww, and i doubt it ever will, its android limitation.

So... It's an Android limitation the fact that some earphones with remote contol buttons doesn't work... That kinda sucks :/

Firstly the phones battery lasts longer when playing music through bluetooth adaper thats powering the headphones
like the mw600 to headphones Vs playing music directly to headphones plugged into the phone.
Ive used the adapter on a few different phones!
For the last time I will repeat these words. The Mini pro has a 3.5mm jack.

I got the phone yesterday. When I tried to plug in my headphones today, I found they are not detected and music continues playing through the phone speakers. Is there some setting I need to do before I can use headphones with the z2? Please advice.
Have you had it in water? Might be wet so won't detect headphones properly otherwise it's a defect and you should exchange it. If your on stock a headphone icon should appear to show a headset is connected

No I haven't tried to use it in water. Guess I received a defective unit.
Did you make sure they were fully plugged in? I wouldn't force them in but just make sure they are right in, try using a hoover attachment to make sure there is nothing blocking the headphone socket then plug them in again firmly then start playing the music. I assume it is the headphones that come with the phone?
Theres a software in the phone that has different profiles for different things. Like headphones, stereo, aux etc. Make sure the correct profile is selected to get sound. Pretty annoying tbh.
What earphones? The ones dat came in the box? And yes, if you usimg anything but the noise cancellation earphones.
Go into Settings > Sound > Audio Accessories and select other. See if that helps...
My all 3 pins headphone also not detected.
Aiaiai tracks and XiaoMi
My friend sennheiser with 2 pins and sony mh1c works perfectly

I'm pretty sure it's this, all of my 3 pin earphones don't work except for my beats headphones which came with my HTC One, however only 1 side plays.
My Sennheiser and Shure work fine.

Confirmed. 3 pin headphones are not detected. 2 pin headphones work fine. Thanks for the input guys!
I found out that if you press the middle button on the headphones while plugging them in, 3-pin headphones work.

Hello,
Did anyone try "Bose SoundTrue In-Ear Headphones for Samsung Galaxy Models" to use with Nexus 6.
If yes, do all 3 buttons work correctly?
Thank you.
I have a set and they work great. All three buttons work and if you use a ROM that allows volume keys to skip tracks, then you can do that too. The headphones just let in alot of outside noise.
Yeah, I had the Bose for Samsung, but changed to these. Degauss Labs Dual Drivers. They have two speakers in each ear giving a very wide detailed sound.
+ Bose
OK, Bose have their special fit,
+ Degauss Labs
The Dual Drivers are way better sounding than the Bose and half the cost.
Re
I bought these Bose headphones in Toronto ( https://baybloorradio.com/headphones/in-ear?product_id=1810 ). They are working fine but only the center button on the headphone seems to be working. Why is this happening? I am on stock rom! :/. I tried my old Klipsch headphones and it's working fine. Is my headphone faulty? Or is it something to do with the phone?
Nokia Purity WH-920 works fine with Nexus 6. Music buttons, mic, volume - no complains.
