Latest CyanogenMod night lies! - Sony Xperia Z Ultra

Finally rooted my beast and installed CM today... And I have to say, it runs quite nicely. Everything works and it didn't lose my imei or anything. Anyone else running it yet?

Yes, I think im unable to get back to GPE for some reason. I cannot sideload the stock rom anymore

I think they've started patching things if you updated after June, I couldn't root with easyroot myself, despite a recent 4.4.4 update. So I finally just did it the old fashioned way and gave up on the TA. It's worked out quite well.

Sorry but I am going to move this thread to General. This is not a development discussion thread and as such, it does not belong where you posted it. Also, I think your title might be wrong (night lies as opposed to nighties )

Hard call as there's no GPe general section. There are a couple of Gen threads in the GPe section but it is probably the best place for them
As for the title, if it is going to live in the general section the it probably needs [GPe] or the like in the title as well.

You are probably right about the title. However, this is not development but rather discussion so it has no place in development at all... Trust me on this
You want me to put the hammer down?

[Q] Why do most ICS ROMs have TouchWiz stuff in them?

My phone is an HTC Desire Z, but my sister has an SII. Long story short, she heard about Android 4 and it's cool features, and wants to try them out. Her phone is rooted, and I flashed a couple ICS ROMs, but have noticed that they are a mishmash of AOSP and Samsung stuff.
For my phone, we've got a few pure ICS builds, and a few ICS + Sense 4/3.6 builds. The differentiation is quite plain to see. Coming to the SII threads, I don't really know if I'm on the right forum, since there are like three different Android Development threads.
Can someone help me? I just want pure AOSP. Like CM9. No TouchWiz stuff.

Install CM9 then. Can't get any more like CM9 than CM9.
There is me trying to find ICS actually with TW.
G development is separate as its a different hardware .
Original Development is as it says .
Android Development is basically cut and paste and not original .

CM9? For what I know that's not ready yet... is it?
I mean, in the Desire Z development section, we're still in Beta stage. Camera stuff isn't really okay yet.
Can't speak for CM9, but I can speak for D4 rom (which is based off the latest CM9 nightlies anyway). Everything is working (except HDMI out, I believe). Battery life is acceptable, and no random crashes or anything like that.

Learn to search and read and you'll find answers.
You never know, your searching might eventually lead you to things like http://teamhacksung.org/wiki/index.php/CyanogenMod9:GT-I9100:Nightly:Known_issues maybe even a development thread and at a stretch a Q&A thread.
Good luck on your quest.

Thanks... I've been searching and googling for two days now... That's why I resorted to posting here.
That CM9 nightly looks good. Think I will try that. Thank you, guys.

What's happening to this topic?

Hi all,
I can say that definitely something bad is happening to this part of SGS2 topic (original development). I log everyday, waiting for some ROMs to test, but there are none!
If you check the index thread, it was updated on 22 March (almost 2 months ago).
Also, since ICS was rolled out for SGS2, there are dozens of AOSP/AOKP ROMs in [Android development], but in [Original anroid development] there is only:
21-Mar-12----Batista70 FOXHOUND EDITION 0.3----Views: 1,400,000
I really hope that not all of the developers have moved to other devices or to AOSP/AOKP, but it looks like that's the case.
Anyone has any idea what's going on? Summer is still far away...
Well, just looking through the first page, I saw:
FoxHound ROM;
HyperDroid ROM;
Slim ROM;
Clean Blank ROM;
CheckROM
Not sure what your on about. If your not content with this sub-section, try the Android Development Section, plenty to flash there.
Chris.
The guy who started the "[INDEX]" threads in both the Original Development and the Development forums hasn't been updating his threads.
That doesn't mean development hasn't continued though.
It was nice of the guy to build index threads, but given he's not really updating them, it may end up causing more confusion like this, unfortunately.

There are only one or two sammy ICS ROMs. People are waiting since ICS rollout for checkrom ICS and others as well...
I'm not fun of AOSP so Android Development section is not an option for me.
Cheers!

have you even looked in there???
It isnt only aosp roms in there
first you got to understand the difference between android deveopment and orignal android development and you will understand why there is no big activity.
Well devs owe us no favours its up to them as to what and when they build a rom .
Usually find someone donates them a new model and they move on or they get sick and tired of the whiners and stupid repetitive questions and move on .
Solution for the OP big donation to a dev .

As far I can understood there is a plenty to choose from... Now u can even dual boot 2 ICS rom-s so there is a lot of options. To develop originally something demands time so patience would be welcome...

Bootloader Unlocked/Cyanogenmod Status

Now that the bootloader has been unlocked, what is the process and time frame for cyanogenmod to bring an official build to it? I don't have a 4g droid, but I've been keeping my eye on it. I'm very interested to see how AOSP roms run on it. It seems like it would make a nice device for cm9/10/11.

[Q] [ROM] 4.4 i717 Question

Hey everyone, I'm new here and have been trying to find out what's going on with the i717 in regards to kitkat rom development. Anyone have any updates or know how soon we can expect to see some nightlies or any types of builds?
Thanks!
Has it even been released yet?

I will edit my original post here cause I was a bit of an A-hole. this was you first post and I didn't want your first impression to be as nobody here wants to help. of course if you had already read the previous, than I am too late and can only apologize.
a few spoken rules in one of the threads for newbies here.
1. run a search, maybe the question has already been asked before
2. read, read, read
3. help yourself first, as nobody is going to do the work for you.
there are thousands of people that are more than willing to help here, but you should be mindful of repeating questions as some folks can get irritated. it is usually someone that asks a specific question about an issue that was just addressed 2 post up or on the previous page.
making a personal request for an immediate feature that may have just been announce can also annoy some developers. some to the point where they have stopped developing.
good luck and remember to read

Thanks, I didn't read until after the edit, however from browsing around here I was worried I would just be told to shut the **** up etc...
I have tried looking all over the place for info on a 4.4 rom and if people are working on one for the i717. So far I can't find anything. I was just wondering if anyone knew if the phone would be getting a ROM or left behind.
Our latest official release was 4.1.2.
As you can see, we now have ROMs on 4.2.2, 4.3 and 4.3.1. I have not seen any devs "promise" a 4.4 rom, and I don't expect them to.
But, the 4.4 source just dropped few days ago, and I am pretty sure that they are looking at it, at the very least. If history is any indication, I would say we are going to get 4.4 roms eventually. Developing a rom is hard work, so please just wait.
Asking for an ETA might be irritating for devs, if you are not contributing to the development. And if you are contributing to the development, you should already know the answer to the question.

Sorry, I don't mean to annoy anyone. I only came here because no other place had info and was told to go to XDA. I am not trying to rush anyone and I know these things are a ton of work. Like I said I was only wondering if people thought at some point 4.4 would come to the i717 not plz give me rom now.

And?
He posted the preview in General. I haven't been able to flash it personally because I use TWRP (and only CWM works at this point) but you're welcome to check it out. Flashed CWM Recover to try. P3 ran well, although obviously a bit buggy. P4 is out now with less bugs--both ran smoothly...well enough that I'm happy using it as a daily driver.

Yes, relative to ASOP/CM, the ones that I am aware of: JamieD81 is already working a version of CM11 plus his stand-alone Uber kernel and I believe that you will see Liquidsmooth (Patch_Adams) and Hellybean (ThdDude) come up with their versions. If you have not yet tried them, they all have excellent 4.3.1 kernel & Jellybean builds.

I would be happy with 4.3 if MHL works to use Chromecast features.
Would love to recycle older devices and connect to TV or Projector permanently.

The CM thread for the at&t model closed...

I assume this means all work for CM on the US version is officially dead? With the source code being out there, is there any other AOSP that could become a reality for this phone?

How the hell do you think I knew the thread was closed? The thread stayed open for a while after announcing someone had picked up the work on it. Then it later closed. Hence the question. Seems odd to close a thread with ongoing work.
But please, go ahead and continue being snide in your posts. Your good work around here allows you such luxuries.
