Ive been thinking about doing this for about a week. I successfully did this about two years ago when I had the Samsung Galaxy S Blaze and many forums said it was unlockable. So what do you all think of this Idea? I believe I unlocked my LG G2 for international use with a forum I found here. But im in the usa. Ive got my phone to the point where when I insert my micro sim from verizon it reads it in the APN settings but thats about as far as Ive got so far. So let me know if anyone has tried this method and if so what their forum link please and Thanks!
This is not intended on being a question either. But instead informational. And hopefully helpful to solve this puzzle of a phone when it comes to unlocking it.

Ok, I know we all hate the tools that post something in the wrong place or something that has been covered in several other threads, but I have exhausted all searches and can't post in the Dev threads...sorry
Here is the issue (assuming you're still there)...
MT4G has been rooted and unlocked with gfree (did my research about gfree issues) because I'm looking to be able to pop the AT&T sim in and rock some crappy service on my awesome phone. Tmob is good in the city, but not so good (zero service) elsewhere.
I'm in the city now working on this and there are no issues with the sim cards themselves, and I have brought the MT4G back to stock several times now only to re-root and try again. I'm leaving the froyo rom for the time being because gfree won't do ginger.
I'll do my best to provide any info requested, but I need another thought on why the phone isn't picking up AT&T svc. NOTE: APN will not save with AT&T card in, but won't be there if I save with Tmob sim and swap.
Open to suggestions, and again sorry if this is ill placed or someone knows there is an answer out there that I couldn't find.
Semper-
sorry, bumping because my post is on page 3........anyone?
Problem solved.....
AT&T has created new smaller chip SIM cards which will NOT work in a non AT&T phone. I did some digging online and found some of the older SIM cards with the full size chip on Amazon. Low and behold the unlock via gfree truely unlocks the MT4G unlike some threads had stated that it wouldn't.
The AT&T SIM MUST BE ACTIVATED ON AN AT&T PHONE! When I called to transfer to the new "old" SIM they asked for the IMEI of the AT&T phone and then called to make sure it was in the phone. Once done with customer service I put the AT&T card in the MT4G and it asked me to choose my carrier since the SIM had changed.
Hope this helps anyone who is trying to use AT&T on the MT4G.
Ok so I'm a noob at this got this UsCellular galaxy note 2 sch-950 because I was told by a friend that I would be able to get a sim card from Straight Talk and use what ever phone I wanted just as long as it takes a sim card well I got the phone and I have been looking around at forums to see what kind sim I needed and I keep hearing it cant be done then on the other hand I hear it can be done. So this is what im trying to figure out I know my Galaxy note 2 sch-950 is locked and not rooted what do I have to do to make it work for straight talk, cricket, or boost mobile preferably because boost dont throttledown their data that I know of. Somebody help us out and let us know whats up bc I have been digging for awhile not and havent real answer and sorry in advance if I posted in the wrong area I could find a USCELLULAR forum and this looked like an ok place to post. Also thanks for any and all help
A friend of mine has tasked me to help him as I have some experience with rooting, unlocking etc from other Android phones. Someone sold him a Metro PCS version of the LG Optimus L9 and he has a family plan on T-Mobile. He wants to give this phone to his daughter. Anyways, Since the phone runs on the T-Mobile network, is it possible to flash the phone so that he can put it on his T-Mobile plan? I have looked through the forums and have not found anything of this nature but I do apologize if I have missed it. It is not necessary to go into great detail for this, I jsut want to know if it is possible and a good place to start if it is possible. Thanks for your time!

The only thing I can assume would work is tp buy an unlock code on ebay or amazon and unlock it. t-mobile blows where I am so I unlocked my phone and am now on att
Sent from a Crackhead Donkey
im sure it would work. i have a rooted tmobile branded L9 using a slightly modified metro rom with a tmo sim. it actually shows metro under about phone/network. it is rooted. so if u havent already tried a puting a tmo sim in it and seeing if it worked then rooting might be your answer.
Hello xda,
I'm looking at purchasing a S3 from eBay and I found a seller that is selling a factory unlocked S3. I'm not sure what that really means for me if I want to use the phone on PagePlus. I have a LG Lucid that has 4G capability so I had to reprogram it to use PagePlus on 3G. I never got MMS or data to work on it but that's another story.
Anyway, what does Factory unlocked really mean in terms of flashing? I like that idea of putting any SIM in the phone and using them without a lock is great and useful.
Is it less work to get the phone to use the Verizon/PagePlus network when it's already unlocked?
Also if getting a factory unlocked S3 is the best way to go for my situation, any help getting the phone flashed would be really appreciated.
Thanks

You probably don't have to much more than what you did before on your Lucid, but idk
Page Plus is a Verizon MVNO, and a CDMA carrier. The i9300 will not work, as it is a GSM only phone. If you want a SGSIII on Page Plus, you need to look for the i535 variant. That is the CDMA release of the SGS III.
Hey guys,
I have the Metro PCS version of the LG L9, & I want to unlock it to work on TMobile or Simple Mobiles network for my mother..... Could someone point me into the right direction? I'm sure I have to root, & unlock the bootloader, is there a custom rom that would solve this that I could use? Or is it more complicated.
I'm used to the rooting the LG G2, & got my Sprint version G2 to work on Metro, Tmobile, & Simple Mobile, so this phone is something new to me. Thanx for the help.

Sounds like a carrier lock. You have two options... 1) Purchase unlock code online or 2) Call MetroPCS and ask them for carrier unlock code.
I'm sure there's a way around that..... I've successfully unlocked my Sprint version of the G2, without having to have Sprint give me an unlock code.
That phone was pretty complicated to unlock, but it was done. So I'm sure this phone should have a work around also.
From what I'm seeing so far, the P769 is basically just about the same as the Metro PCS version. I just want to make sure I can do it, without having to call Metro PCS. I don't even have an account with them anymore. It's been a couple years. So I doubt they would give me the code anyways.

You asked. I answered. Best of luck FYI, that P769 is nothing like LG G2. I'm assuming you're aware of that already as you mentioned the bootloader was already unlocked. P769 is one of the most problematic devices LG has put out to date. I gave up on mine L9 P769 and moved to the LG L90.
Thanx.
Yea, I'm definitely aware that the 2 phones differ. I love my G2! It's an awesome phone. Complicated as far as carrier unlock, because Sprint has a tight grip on their phones, but it definitely can be hacked whether they like it or not! Lol.
I'm just trying to find out the easiest way to get this phone working on a different carrier besides Metro PCS. I'm pretty sure someone out there has tried it. It would be nice if there was someone who successfully did it.
Hello there do u have still that phone?
