[Q] S3 Charging Dilemma - Help needed urgently

Samsung Galaxy S3,
bought - June 2012
version- 4.1.2
I was facing charging problem with main socket as well as with USB cable.. I zeroed in to the fact that my s3 charging pins are faulty after trying all possible combination of different battery, charger, USB cable, phone etc. I have also done factory reset but it didn't solve the issue. I even bought a separate charger to confirm my findings and they did.
I called up Samsung repair center(3 June) as my phone was still in warranty, they lodged the complaint and will be sending somebody to collect the phone tomorrow(10 June).
I wasn't using my phone for the last 3-4 days, last night I just thought to give my phone charging a try and hey it started charging perfectly fine. I tried the USB cable and it is all good. I charged it again in the morning today and all set. No issues.
And I am all confused now. My dilemma -
1 - Now that my original issue looks to be resolved, should I still send my phone to Samsung repair center (which means that I will be without my phone for next 3-4 weeks, I cant expect Samsung to be more quicker than this)
2- if it is working fine, what Samsung will do with that phone?
3- Is it okay to send a working phone to repair center?
4- has my charging problem been just temporarily resolved?
Please suggest at the earliest as I have time till today only to decide whether to send this phone to Samsung or not. Let me know of any additional info that you need.
Many Thanks en avance
if it's aint broken don't fix it
maybe the phone just needed a good restart, just like your computer sometimes does
if they won't find any problem in Samsung lab they will do one of the 2 options:
1. give you the phone back - but it will take at least 14 working days
2. say it has corrosion on it and give you a refurbished one instead - now you have a new device in your hand - refurbished is REnewd!!

1. if the problem repeats, just change the cable. you are not gonna loose anything just calling samsung SC and saying no for their service are you?
2. if you still send it to SC, if it's fine(your phone will be returned), not fine(will send your phone after repairing).
3. nothing happens(the person who works on your phone just thinks this guy is too tensed for a little problem )
4. may be
many charging problems are related to cable rather than the phone. :good:

Thanks Sriram for your comments, so there is no harm in sending to Samsung repair even if the phone is okay. Just that I will be away from my for next 3 weeks
I hope their repairing wont bring out any new problem in my phone.

man i'm sorry , but you have bricked Screen !
Hi
What do you want to do?
If your screen is broken, you could "do" something via ADB, but not so much.
PERHAPS you could delete your lockscreen (you can do, search), make the device boot wisthout sim cadr (=no pin), install (adb install) something like airdroid or similar (i do not know such apps), launch it (inside ADB with "am" + something) and hope you can "use" your phone via PC.
Ok looks more like SCI-FI!

My friend has a Mini Pro with broken lcd , he broke it 6 months back but he still manages to use till now with out any problem....
try flashing custom kernel and a new ROM , If that doesnt help.... u have to go to customer care..
Re:all
thanks all, but i'm sure that lcd is fine (maybe), because, before that (suddenly restart) my phone is allready fine with all function normally (although my lcd is broken but touch function is normal). until restart happen, my phone was not start up again. in lcd i see blank, no logo and anything. just vibrate 2 times. in that condition i think, i can make a call for test but the warning from sim operator said that my phone was turn off.

for Publiuss, i hope you can give me tutorial how to controllling my phone via pc in condition my phone like now.
maybe use the usb cable to know that my phone (until flashing rom or kernel) was working or not, and if i can getting that, means, my phone trouble in lcd.
i will keep out for cust care if i can solving my trouble by self, because maybe if i have to go cust care they will charge me cost not much different with new buying this phone.

Well Man i say is not software problem. If you flash stock firms, custom roms and kernels you manipulate all the system if the phone dont turn on is a ardware problem. Search a tuto how to open you phone and see if dont have nothing wrong. The conection screen "flex".you see all ok buy a new screen on eBay. Try. After all that phone is very important for you.
Press thnks if I helped to your mind.

actually i had the exact same (or similar) problem after 6 months of ownership.
1) broken screen, dropped phone several times, everything still works no trouble
2) random restarts
3) boot problems, restarts got more frequent
4) can no longer boot, only a lit black screen, no SE logo
Does that sound familiar?
I understand it could be a HW problem but the only thing I can think of is the digitaliser/screen. Try to replace that and see far you get, you can find a replacement cheap from ebay (they come free with tools) and also disassembly guides are on ifixit
please post your results!!
Mini Pro screen is really vulnerable, so even a little defect can cause further issues.
I had a Mini Pro which its screen cracked when I dropped it, it was fully functionable for weeks then one Friday touchscreen didn't response anymore.
I visited a technician and paid about 4,000 Philippine pesos to get it fixed.
Second defect happened after I came back to Korea, when I dropped it toward the wooden frame of my bed.
At first the screen had several purple horizontal lines, then soon it completely blacked out.
It still exists inside my drawer, and since I loved its keypad, I recently ordered $20 screen set in Aliexpress.
I have a question: Did you fix your device after writing this thread? Was the problem related only with the screen?

Great prime SM-g530h does not respond to anything help!

Hello friends I have already more than 3 months with the phone so brick paperweight, I led him to more technical 7 where live in santa barbara de barinas-Venezuela, also went to the neighbouring cities and nothing in any side give me solution most say is the screen I really very much doubt it because that made long before that big donkey to install the twrp when already had the CWM as recovery. I have read forums and forums and I'm trying to do it through gives you the ADB, I want to fix my phone because it buy a new one in my country currently with our monetary situation is buy a new cell phone and hold 1 year of hunger... to be able to buy it. do I hope that if some expert in android 4.4 software. 4kitkat read this I throw hand, and friends else this case is cataloged as a SoftBrick, HardBrick or a BootLoop? Thanks again and Merry Christmas to all. Here below I explain what happened. Buy the Samsung Galaxy Grand prime duos SM-G530H with android 4.4.4 as two weeks ago, as you can see this practically new what happened was the following rootee the terminal as it had already done in my terminal most everything went well. then download the TWRP MANAGER application from the store play gave him super user permissions and locate a TWRP recovery for the grand prime not found for model SM-G530H. There was when I made the stupid more large I have echo I found recovery for other models of samsung and download the recovery for the Grand duos the download and cell phone install it from the same application I turn off and turned on the screen but this look with blue screen with black and vibrates and turns off and again it does the same thing again and again you can see and not start. promise them is that not come to think that my cell phone was going to stay dead, the issue is to remove the battery if so have worked and the same. attempt to start mode recovery and not or it worked I was the same lit blue screen with black and vibrated and turned off. so I spent in download mode, lit in blue with black screen and turned off. Friends I am desperate because I tried everything and not me because I've taken the battery more thousand times, pc does not recognize me the device that simply does not fit into download mode. not load by gets blue screen with black. try a USB jig you buy from eBay and not worked a and also one of the technical goals that the to revised happened a jtag I think q is called so is seemed to a usb jing but saw that the changed him as voltages but none worked and told men that this fried. So no longer will be if they had some experience regarding my case would appreciate... translated by google
Did you get this sorted out ?

galaxy alpha issues

Hi everybody i am asking for advice on trying to repair a phone for a family member the phone is a galaxy alpha F variant UK stock rom, factory unlocked and unrooted the problem started after finishing a call the handset was left un attended and when it was later picked up the screen was black but does not appear broken aywhere and does not appear to respond to touch
i have tried un successfully to get it into recovery or download modes the handset turns on and the blue lights come on and you can hear the start up tone but see nothing on screen, it also charges and i have tried a new battery, odin does recognise a device but as i cant get it into download i cant flash a stock rom which i have already downloaded.
So my question is, is there any software that i can download to diagnose whether or not the screen is dead or whether it is a f/w issue or is there a way around this where i can use a different tool to get into the handset and flash a new stock rom in case the current f/w is corrupted
Thanks in advance for any useful help and advice
Please understand that i am a newb to this so if i have made some mistakes or my questions have been answered elsewhere previously i do apologise
I think it seems pretty obvious that the problem is the display itself
Hi BigHands,
I faced a problem having the exact same symptoms as yours twice in the last few month: screen was staying black but phone reacted to some "external" actions (ON/OFF), blue light.
Not sure what happened exactly, but removing the battery and trying to restart the phone finally brought the device back to life after trying more than than 10 times!!!
So in my case, the display was probably not the (only) root cause.
Really weird however that I needed to reboot the phone >10times to make it work: usually when software is screwed either one single power cycle will bring the device back to life or it will never power up again!
Anyways, a FW issue is still a possibility considering the number of bug this phone has (for the price it was sold, that phone is definitely the worse gadget I ever owned!)... But it seems there is a bunch of FW updates on going on this model accross the world, so there is still a little hope things might improve... Samsumg may have woken up; who knows...

Samsung Galaxy S7 Boot Issues, Hardware Failure?

Hi everyone, I really hope somebody can help me with this.
My Mum made a Contract with the Provider o2-DE and they send her an Samsung Galaxy S7. That was in August 2016, the Contract ends in August 2018.
The only Issue she has with it is like I mentioned that the Device has serious Startup Problems, if she powers off the Device, it really becomes a Game of Luck to get it to Power on again.
First Question: Could this be related to the Device having too much Running-Time? (Like about 300+ Hours being on without a single reboot?)
Second Question: Could it be a Hardware Failure or like that o2 did send us a bricked Device which had this Problem from the Beginning?
The Device came with Android 6.0.1, We upgraded it to Android 7.0, we keep checking for Updates but we are kinda afraid of installing them since it needs about 4-5 Hard Reboots till it even starts installing the Update (Also afraid of bricking it because of the Boot Issues ) (And the Updates doesn't seem to bring any improvements related to this...)
And after installing Updates the Boot Issues are coming up again, the last Update even took me about 40-50 Reboots till the Device booted up normally again
Does anyone have an Idea what we could do next?
We eventually wanted to send it in for a Repair, but my Mum urgently needs to be available for Calls (like School of my Sis etc.) but o2 denied sending us an Replacement Device she can use till the S7 would be repaired (which according to the Repair Site might take about 5 Days)
I really hope someone here has any Advice
Have a nice day!
I see that phone has some crack on screen , and also I think that restart can be battery problem or problem on mainboard , it s better to send to Repair !

The Crack on the Screen is gladly only in the Tempered Glass though The Device always gets really hot during the restart loop and Battery drains like hell, so I suppose it's maybe even both the Battery and the Mainboard... Anyways, thank you for your Answer, I'll try to send it in
