Hi!
Anybody that upgraded to latest. 314 that has better call quality now?
Sony support claims that this upgrade will do magic with the speaker sound quality.

I haven't tried myself, but I believe it's possible. Call quality on CM is good!
The first call I made after updating, my girlfriend said I sounded loud and clear. That was with speaker phone on, with the phone in my pocket.

Nope, still just as bad here. Going to return my Z2 for the 2nd time now

Good here too. Clear and loud both ends.
Never been a problem since 402, actually.
mines as good as usual
Ok, sounds like it is a hardware problem then. If it was good it's still good and if it was bad it didn't get any better with this upgrade. Sad to here, mine just came back from repair and the only thing they did was an upgrade and reset. Didn't make any difference for me, still not good call quality on my end, no one has ever complained about how I sound so my problem is my speaker.

It actually sounds a lot better, in my opinion.

The only problem with call quality I've had is that the other person can sometimes hear an echo of themselves when using the speaker phone. Other than that, I find everything sounding great!
Do you all have microphone suppression enabled or disabled?

Received a refurbished certified like new Droid Razr and everything is perfect except one basic thing, when I place a call or when I answer a call the person on the other end can't hear me at all. I can hear them just fine but they can't hear me. Can this be fixed or is it a lemon phone and should I return it?

Try a full wipe or a factory reset. If you have still this problem, contact your operator or Motorola...
I took it in...a software upgrade fixed it. Lost my root and no wifi tether will not work....luckily i found the non-rooted wifi app, so life is good.

I've had that problem twice in one day. I found that a reboot of the phone each time fixed it. Haven't had it happen again since. Still not sure what caused it or if it will ever come back.
I have the same problem, reboot didn't solve the problem. Any ideas?
hi , the microphone doesn't work only during a call ?
Did you tried if the voice search and the record voice are working ?

Lol oups i missed that the battery is unremovable
If even with a stock rom the problem persists it's that the microphone is out of service...
I have the same issue with my MAXX... ICS 4.04 went back to stock SAME issue... Went back to ICS 4.04 all fresh installs. Same issue. If i yell into the phone you can hear me, speaker phone you can hear a little more of me when i talk. Other then that the people i call cannot hear a dang word im saying. Stupid stupid cheap Microphones installed in these! Looks like ill be calling Verizon and getting another MAXX to bad i have a limited one right now and wont be able to get a new limited one :-(
Maybe limited means "limited ability for anyone to hear me". Maybe you don't want that 1.

I wouldn't call it a cheap microphone motorola has the best microphones for voice quality of any phone today. perhaps you could call it fragile, but i wouldn't even say that, I've seen only one other person report a mic hardware problem on the net. i think maybe you're one of the few unlucky ones who got a dud. just go get it fixed under warranty
Had this problem once, reboot fixed it for me!
You can also try using one of those compressed air cans to blow out the mics and headphone jack.
Suddenly people can't hear me anymore when doing a voicecall.
First I thought it was a problem with my carrier. But I noticed that things as Shazam and SoundHound don't recognize any sound either...
It looks like my microphone is not working anymore.
Does it mean my microphone is broken, or are there still things I could try?
UPDATE (summary: )
Factory reset, new flash/wipe/update. Does not change anything.
Did the tests in service center: microphone doesn't seem to work. Did the test multiple times and mic didnt record anything. But one time I could hear the sounds but it was extremely silent... Strange.
'2nd mic' in the test menu seems to work better.
What could be the problem in this case?
Try a full wipe/reflash. If that doesn't help, apply for RMA.
Tried a factory reset, wipe. Also an upgrade to .76. Both didn't work.
Guess I have to apply for RMA

Thanks. Just tried this. When playing the recorded sound it is silent. So there the microphone didn't seem to work either.
UPDATE:
Tried again. Louder. And now I could hear the sounds once! But the volume is very low... Hmm what could be going on?
Also I tried the '2nd microphone' test. That one seems to work better.
Maybe flash another firmware,if no send it to service.

Tried a .75, .76 and a fresh .73 firmware. None of them solved the problem
When I use the handsfree function the/a microphone seems to work properly...
It seems mic1 is faulty, need replacement.

Hey, I had the same problem. It may be a long shot but try this. Take some canned air and blow out your headphone jack. For myself, it seems that somehow, some way, there was something in there (perhaps dust, lint) that was causing the phone to not switch the primary microphone back on from headset mode.

Thanks, tried that too. Also in the mic opening. Both didn't work unfortunaly.
I will send the device RMA
(I really hoped that was not needed. Because the people who work at the repair company don't have any knowledge. The chance is big they send the device back after doing a factory reset... They did the same when my Nokia N8 was broken, 3 times!!! Wish me luck guys!)

Just as I feared:
Got the device back, UNrepaired. Had to pay 85 euro's and they didn't repair anything. I had no warranty because I had modified software (I guess the unlocked bootloader). Totally unrelated but for them enough reason not to do anything but ask a lot of money instead.
Got my Pebble (not Metallic...) Blue SG3 yesterday but had to return it for repair today, because the microphone was faulty. About half of what I said during a conversation would be capped off, so it was pretty useless for calls.
According to my carrier they had not experienced this before, but we've all heard that one before right..
Did anybody else here experience this problem with their SG3?

I did however already return it for repair, so lets see what they do with it. If I'm lucky they'll update it to xxalf2 which should also do the trick, without removing the noise reduction.
I'll update the post when I get it back!

Excellent tip. Everytime i would ring someone, they would tell me it sounded like i was talking down a pipe, and that my voice was muffled.
Changing this setting fixed my problem, and now calls are crystal clear.

Unfortunatelly there is no difference (checked or unchecked...). The problem is still there.... THEY HAVE TO SOLVE IT.After all its a PHONE
Do you think is hardware or software?
Shall i send it back or wait for un update that may fix it?
so my first night i had major problems with this issue, turned out i was covering the mic which was oppisite of my galaxy 1/2 and after figuring that out it fixed me XD

Hi,
Got my phone back a while ago, but it was a new unit since they could not repair it.
Guess we'll never know what was wrong, but based on the fact that they swaped it for a new one, it was probably not software related.

I'm not so lucky it seems. I found out about the noise reduction option myself, it didn't really help. The other day I got a new update (the same as quoted), and it's still bad...
Help..
Hey guys...So I've searched the forums and the interwebs trying to find if anyone else has this issue, but the top speaker on my HTC One is significantly quieter than the lower speaker. It also is super quiet when talking on the phone, as in I have to be in a quiet room and the phone forcibly pressed against my ear in the right place for me to hear anyone. This happens across different ROMs leading me to believe it's a hardware issue, but I was just curious if anyone else has encountered this and found a fix?
Have the same experience. No clue if it's normal or not. Doesn't seem to be too huge of a deal when held from a distance.
True, but the phone call quietness is what kills me.

I have also noticed this, although for me it doesn't affect the volume of my calls that significantly, so I don't know if mine is just not as bad as yours, or what. But yeah, it's weird. Kinda defeats the purpose of the whole "stereo speaker" thing...

Does anyone else hear a faint crackling from the earpiece, similar to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/help/hear-faint-static-earpiece-normal-t2454552
It's very faint, but enough to bother me a lot during a call, and it persists, but not as much when I am out of a call.
This is normal right?

I used to have this problem but then someone here (can't remember who unfortunately) told me to open the dialer, click the menu button, go into call settings, and disable voice enhancement.
Ever since I did that I haven't heard the crackling. Hope this helps
I thought I was crazy when I heard it but turning off voice enhancement doesn't get rid of it. Fortunately it's faint.
Yeah the voice enhancement didn't get rid of it :/ Is it worth returning it in for a new one? It's already rooted :c

I just spoke with a Sprint rep, and she told me that this crackling issue is common among their other LG G3 customers, but it should NOT be occurring, so I'm going to send mine back to Amazon and get another phone that is hopefully not defective.
After a second trip to the sprint store with the problem already documented in their system they finally agreed to order a replacement for me. Hopefully the new one isn't part of the same batch that had the problem.

Please let me know the outcome. I'll be honest. I'm not sure this g3 is really all that I thought Or hoped it to be. I'm not saying it sucks. I do believe were all just really in need of an update. Lots of quirks. On mine at times.

OK update... New replacement in hand since last Saturday and made numerous calls with and without the charger connected and do not hear the crackling... Definitely a faulty unit.
Take it back if it is. They may not take it right away unless they can reproduce the sound immediately. Eventually they will if u take it back and complain a second time.

The crackling does not sound like a blown speaker... it sounds more like electrical noise interfering with the audio of the earpiece... I'm thinking it was a grounding issue...
