Hi guys,
I got the following problem and haven't got enough experience to solve it myself:
I used the app linux deploy to install a debian wheezy distro on my HTC Sensation. The problem is now, that the appache2 server, for example, doesn't start or does get shut down immediately after startup. I guess that it's some problem with the user rights ("chroot"? totally don't know ..).
As I'm not much of an linux expert I don't know what I could do. The EXACT same installation steps brought me a working apache server on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1. So it has something to do with the HTC Sensation. I've tried several Custom ROMs (and some different kernels allready). I tried different distros as well.
What could be the problem? What could I try next? THANKS! :cyclops:
//edit: Just tried my linux.img at a Nexus 5. Worked right out of the box. I'm using the copied linux.img now, so it's the exact same image and can't be an installation problem. Works on other devices but not on the HTC Sensation.

So... II am having a issue I can NOT find anyone else having. After upgrading from UBUNTU to LinuxMint GNOME 64Bit (Clean Install)... I CAN NOT get Android Kitchen to extract my ROMs. Never had a problem prior. When I choose to Setup my working folder and choose my ROM (which was built in Kitchen) i get "Error No system folder found".
Anybody have some insight?
Could it possibly have anything to do with switching from GNOME 3 to GNOME 2 or vice versa? Not sure what versions you're running. I've only dabbled around with Linux a little bit but I know it can be a real pain in ass getting some programs to work. I recently switched back to Ubuntu from windows 7 and then to bodhi Linux sense its a little easier on resources.

The 2 main programs that the kitchen depends on is jdk and sdk, make sure that the paths are correct and linked to kitchen and that you have installed all the tools used for sdk and kitchen.
what steps do i take to know that the rom i made is going to work other than flashing it?
Good day guys!
I know this topic (of duel and triple booting) have been handled from a couple of different angles already but I am struggling to find any relating specifically to my issue I am having.
I started with an Acerone (that had 'good' ol' 1.6 preloaded with windows) and reformatted and repartitioned. Windows 7 Pro is installed and running fine. I then installed ICS and that also works great.
Unfortunately I've come across much needed apps that had not been developed to work in ICS or Android-x86 yet so I needed Honeycomb. I've been using 7 and ICS together for a while so I've done quite a bit on it. I then tried following the similar installation procedure for honeycomb (dont install grub, etc) and for some reason I could not get the grub (legacy) from ICS to open the Honeycomb install. I tried all the usual (editing menu.lst using ex2explorer within windows etc etc with all the right hd,xx values etc) but it just kept telling me that it could not find the files.
I thought it may be due to that sda not being mounted at the time grub comes up (which also didnt make too much sense since nowhere did I see it mount the Windows partition but yet I can boot to windows quite fine). So I ended up reinstalling Honeycomb with its own grub (which as you can expect done away with the ICS one). So Honeycomb works great with Windows - but again the same predicament (if not slightly worse since the honeycomb is fresh install and now I cant access my ICS which is wel run in with apps etc).
I can see all the partitions from within windows with the ext2 mounter and both the partitions with droid on have grub folders. I've tried setting different partitions active etc but to no avail. I've even now tried loading GAG bootloader and added the OS's, pointing them to the right partitions, but only the Windows one works from within gag.
My next step (since almost ALL the forums with posts regarding triple boots relates to having android, windows and ubuntu) is to install ubuntu and use ITS grub to control everything. Seems like a simpler way out, but quadruple boot? I've been called indecisive before but this is pushing it! lol.
So basically - either if someone can direct as to whats going wrong and why I can add the entry into the grub legacy's but when I select it, it says files not found.....OR how I can get GAG to successfully access those OS's.
Your site has been a really GREAT help...these my search tems in google include "xda-developers"...
You can quadruple boot. It's really not a big deal. I'm not sure about the grub for android x86 (I've only started playing with it a couple of days back) but if it's grub legacy, it can become a pain to set up other OSes other than the defaults. On the other hand, with grub2 (which comes with all standard linux distros) is very efficient at finding and loading the OSes so that would be the simplest way.
If it reassures you, I triple boot nearly all the time (Currently have Win7, Fedora 17 and Mint 13)
If you don't want to, you can perhaps try GRUB4DOS http://sourceforge.net/projects/grub4dos/
I haven't used it though so you'll need to go through it properly though. I'm sure you already know but just in case: make sure you keep another computer or at least some access to the internet while you are playing with GRUB in case of errors.
Hi.
I would like to run Debian Squeeze on Android.
Complete Linux Installer delivers Debian images that are very problematic and annoying.
Debian Kit doesn't let me install openssh-server and not only that, skipped many packages due to extracting problems.
Lil' Deby is very unstable, it hangs before it does everything to complete the installation.
Linux Deploy causes many errors to happen
Is there another app to do that? Or if there's a well explained way to do that manually? I'm having some software that would be great to have in my phone so let's just focus on it
I'm counting for help!
EDIT: Sorry, forgot to check "Is this a question". Yes, it is
Hi,
I wonder if someone can help.
I have a Pioneer Dreambook, i dont know the model number. It is similar in appearance to the Dreambook F10 but has different specs and hard buttons.
If you need the specs i can give them to you, but it currently runs windows 7.
I have been able install android on to it using andoid - x86, and tried multiple versions of the x86s, but all seem to unstable, the OS doen't control the hardware buttons correctly and doesn't rotate the screen unless an app forces it to rotate. Also I cannot put the tablet into "sleep" mode, only use a software option to turn the device off.
Once the device is off it is virtually impossible to restart the device and load android without using the x86 debugger.
I have seen on the web that devices like the hp tablet running web os is possible it install android effectively and that it is possible to install android onto a windows device, but surely there must be a better solution than what i currently have.
I tried to install Cyanogen but the windows installer wouldn't detect the tablet, presumably because it is not a support device, but i did read that it is possible to install Cyanogen on an non supported device.
If there is anymore information i can give please let me know, and any help or advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Sam
Hi guys,
After reading very helpful post about how to write good posts/questions I realise that my issue maybe too specific.
I understand that with android the os needs to have some sort of tailoring to different devices.
But there are examples out there of similar applications of android on non android devices.
As I said earlier I already have installed android using android x86.
Let me then rephrase my question...
The issues described earlier, are they a result of the x86 method of installing android or are they the device simply incompatible with android (which I find hard to believe)?
Thank you to all the people who took the time to read my post and once again, any help would be invaluable.
Thanks,
Sam

Dear XDA helpers,
I have done pretty comprehenisve searches for a day or so but I am having trouble. I have a Samsung S5 SM-G900F... I am trying to install lineage 18.1 using a MAC (OS 10.15.5 CATALINA) I can't find a version of heimdall suite that works on Catalina. Heimdall suite 1.4.0 doesn't install on Catalina. I got Heimdall-1.4.1-Unofficial-Signed to install but I can't find the front end and I can't find the installed app location on my hard disk. Also I downloaded the official lineage-18.1-20220828-recovery-klte.img but the image is not recognised and I can't open it on a Mac machine.
Basically I am having a cross patform nightmare, I can get some things installed on Catalina (such as Jodin3) but some of the necessary support files are not compatible with Mac Catalina (such as lineage-18.1-20220828-recovery-klte.img).
Am I wasting my time trying to do this on my mac? I would need a relatively straight forward process anyway because I am a noob, so these extra cross platform issues are not helping.
Is there a thread with instructions using Catalina? I haven't been able to find much useful in a day of wide ranging searching.
Thanks for your help
All the best Tim
