What do you mean by update?
Are you on a custom ROM or stock?

I my experience, its very confusing. So I just easilly flash to stock (no root no custom recovery) update my phone via ota then start install cwm and rooted. In my case triagle away and xposed trick dont work

[Q] I need to know something before rooting my tab...

I own a 7510 tab wifi-only with stock 3.1 (canadian version)
I'm planning to root my tab with the method from galaxytabhacks.com
Now here is my question :
Can I use odin and only install CWM recovery (not the root file)
then use CWM recovery to make an unrooted backup of my stock rom
and finally install the root file ?
If I ever go back to stock by restoring my backup with CWM Recovery and flashing the stock recovery with odin, will it be exactly like it was before(able to do ota update, do factory reset from the setting menu, connect with kies...)
Yes that's how I did it. If anything goes sour I have a link in my sig
Do I really need to install the root file first if I plan to install a pre-rooted custom rom like GALAXY TASK 13.1 Slim with CWM ?

Root doesn't. Affect neither ota update nor factory reset and kies connection unless you modify the system files

[q] really really noob question here!

I have a Wt19i with rooted 0.62 stock rom with cwm recovery installed but bootloader is locked. I recently changed the status bar with cwm but i hated it so i want to flash it back but i forgot to make a backup so I want to flash 0.58 again and root it then update it via OTA.
Will the cwm be removed?
Is it bad with locked bootloader with cwm?
Will i use flashtool/seus/pc companion or cwm itself to flash it?
Will it have problems like bootloop or even bricking my phone?

use flashtool to flash .58 stock rom then root then update via OTA again.
CWM will be removed in the process.
is your cwm by naa?

It is by nobodyatall,
thanks for answering my questions
Can i be sure there will be no boot problems?
i dont think there would be boot problems,
just make sure to wipe dalvik cache and delete all data for a clean install of .58 fw.

Yes, CWM will be removed.
Locked bootloader does not affect CWM at all. You need to unlock only if you want to install custom kernel and/or ROM.
To flash stock firmware, you can use SEUS, Flashtool or Wotanserver.
Chance for a bootloop or bricking is quite low on Android Xperia phones. Although there is chance for some bugs, if you install incorrect firmware via Flashtool.

How to install CWM ?

I already rooted the phone using CF ROOT. running stock 4.1.2
Can I use ROM MANAGER to flash CWM recovery ?
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=i9300+how+to+install+cwm
there are many guides for rooting and installing CWM, but I'd like to know if I can use ROM MANAGER to flash CWM on a rooted S3 ?

AFAIK, ROM Manager is not fully compatible with CF-ROOT/JB (don't remember which, just that it was incompatible with one of those two). Better flash through ODIN.

Try this instead TWRP market download link in first post
Does the same job, download the app from the market and install then install the recovery script from the menu button
Just to clarify, I can install TWRP as suggested above after the phone was rooted via CF ROOT ?
No need to also unlock the boot loader ?
the bootloader is not locked

Updates while rooted?

If i root by flashing a custom kernel, will i have to reflash a stock firmware in order to update or is there way i can just flash stock kernel and update?

If you root or install custom recovery u could try to re install stock recovey and unroot might work but if u modified the software then likly not.

HI,
I have a redmi5+ rooted. I use luckypatcher (i applied some patchs to some apps) and i have installed once BusyBox (didn't do anything in special).
I want to know if it is secure to flash the full update?
How do I confirm if the system files and vendor are ok to proceed?
I Will follow this tutorial: youtube.com/watch?v=oUUzxYHV_ac

Hi, I'm very newbie at rooting... But I managed to root my phone months ago and now there is this update (V10.2.1.0) that I cannot do because it's rooted...
I still have the original rom but rooted, and I don't want to flash anything since I have all my data, configuration and all this stuff :/
Is it possible to simply update it without flashing since it's the Xiaomi rom ?
Thank you
