Hello
I have this rom in my rom slot 3, just as I been told trough the official thread.
If I do a full backup of the ROM in Safestrap after installing all my programs and settings, can I then Restore it to the Stock Rom Slot?
I have always done this with all the other custom rom's with no problem, I do not want more than one ROM on my phone, call me weird...
Wouldn`t do that if I were you... These custom roms are hard coded to only work on specific slots. In case of Liquid Smooth, it only works on slot 3 for now, but that will probably be fixed soon.
BTW, I`ve flashed CM 10.1 accidentally on my stock slot (Was on custom ICS rom) and now I can`t boot on stock slot, only on CM 10.1 (slot 1) and Liquid Smooth (slot 3).
Facing some issues, trying to solve them, but no success so far...

When this happens to me I always swallow my pride and go back to stock via RSDlite.
But I have always done like I said with all the custom roms, I have never had any problems after but the whole restore on stock rom slot.
But let's say, If I continue to use rom slot three. If I then go into Safestrap and format the stock rom slot, this will free up the space on mye phone right?
Not sure about that, but since you have usb working, you`ll always have RSD,.. My usb isn`t working, but I don't know if it's hardware or something messed up with stock slot...

What about making a backup file from the one rom you have working and restore it to stock rom slot? It will not boot on this slot at all?
I have been out in the dark maybe 100 times before, but I have never had usb not working??? Strange..
My case is that I'm on ICS on stock and on JB on rom slots...
I was wondering, did I mess my CID by installing JB over LATAM ICS, since there isn`t a LATAM JB release yet?
Anyways, sorry, completely out of topic here, so, let`s go to the point:
If you see me as a lab rat, you should know that I just tried flashing my working LiquidSmooth backup on stock slot, and didn`t work... At least for me...

Maybe you have to let the stock rom slot be, until there is a rot or rsd for Jelly Bean
Haha, lab rat!
I jus tried the same myself, but the device would not start so this does not work.
For now I have formated and wiped my stock rom slot, and I have liquid smooth in slot 3 wich will be my daily rom waiting for things to happen.

Yeah, but in my case no usb, so it`ll have to be via stock recovery...
Well, for now, since there`s no use for my stock slot, I`m gonna do the same as you...
Yeah, thinks it's the best when your stock rom is out of order!
But liquid smooth is a pretty neat rom, it makes me not wanna go back to the regular ics roms.

Btw, when I think about it I once had a usb not working with the first razr maxx I bought.
I do not remeber everything, but I fixed it trough a guide I found trough putting some files on my SD card and installing from there?
You know what tutorial I mean? Have you tried this?
No, haven`t seen it!
I was wondering, what happens if I install both TWRP and CWM recovery?

Some custom roms can be updatet sort of like your asking!
But you should make a habbit of always clean install custom roms, this way you get into troubles less often and the stability will often be better,,

I'm new to the world of Android and am loving my razr maxx. Right now I am using stock 4.1.
It is in my nature to tweak and customize and thus the prospect of using a custom ROM is enticing..... but a few questions.
1. What are the advantages over using stock jelly bean? disadvantages?
2. It seems like there's a plethora of different custom ROMs on this site. How do you go about choosing one? CM seems to be pretty popular... Why?
3. How do I learn to flash it correctly so I don't screw up my phone? I realize there's a plethora of info on this forum but sometimes it's overload and it's hard to find what I need to know.
thanks!

Hi, The advantages of using the stock rom is that is more stable (sometimes) than a costum rom,but the custom maybe is more fast and smooth and have a better customizable expirience..
i suggest the cm 10.1 becose it's very fast,up to date and realy customizable....
One of the best thigs with the razr is that you can install 5 system at the same time,so you can try different rom without delete the stock one
You have to;
Get root http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2230140
install a costum recovery https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.projectlense.bootmenu.manager&hl=it
flash (it mean install) the rom

What's the point of this request? Hashcode has the first stock ROM in his safestrap thread. Cpasjuste has a working Gapps ROM. If you want to figure out how to make Cpasjuste's ROM remove less, just add it back from Hashcode's...Use WinRAR to move files back into system/app..
Or review ptiwee / crashthump / gsleon3's thread to see what Cpasjuste in his flashable gapps zip and change it to do remove less than it does now and release it as your flashable gapps installer... All you have to change is META-INF\com\google\android\updater-script to delete less...

Are you wiping everything and starting with a fresh install on a Rom Slot? I have not experienced ANY, Zero, Zilch issues with installing a fresh install of Cpasjuste's AOSP ROM or flashing his gapps Zip onto a fresh Rom Slot. Just DON'T touch the Stock slot. That would be very bad, and could leave you where you don't want to be.
AFAIK, the safest way is by using Cpasjuste's AOSP on a ROM slot - if you want Vanilla Android, or by flashing Gapps Zip on top of a fresh Stock in a Rom Slot. Just don't touch the Stock slot and you should be good to go. If I am missing the point of your post, please explain a little more. If need be, you can DM me, and I'll try to help you work it out through that channel. I'm not a developer, and I'm essentially new to the Kindle, and tablets in general, but I have been rooting and flashing phones since 2009. If I can't help you achieve the desired results, we can find someone who can. Good luck, and be careful.

Install or update TWRP with Goomanager if you're on an old recovery. Just click install openrecoveryscript, that easy.
Stock TW KitKat: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2721118
There are lots of improvements in JB and KK, as well as a couple fixable "issues" (e.g. sd card).
You can sell it to me and then I will give you my phone, that would be the best thing for the world.
Definitely gonna keep my MDK bootloader. The funny thing that's making me want to change is the App to SD card feature in the updates.
I'll make the switch from CWM to TWRP and give stock TW KK a shot. Are there any GS5 ROMs for us? I feel so out of it lol.
I've been flashing since the OG Droid and had close to 10 rooted phones but after getting my GS4 and having everything working perfect(including the mods, I.e. WiFi Ap), I just left it

I'd use Flashify from the Play Store to update to a new recovery. Using Goo or ROM Manager can lead to possibly having to Odin back to stock and start fresh... Couldn't tell you exactly why but it's happened to a few of us including me.
Also... Go for a ROM like C ROM, Mahdi, or Liquid Smooth... Ditch TW

I too have MDK so.... :highfive:! I am running Hyperdrive RLS 15 and it runs flawless. Loads of extra features if you like that sort of stuff. I used the Ktoonz Kernel with it so it comes with the KTweaker App for complete control over the kernel. Loads of battery life. Its 4.3 but if you want 4.4 then wait about a week or so and Sbreen94 will have it released (atleast that is his current time frame).

But you have to erase cid for install other country device's firmware (GSM).

Interesting. Does this mean every time you power on, you have to do the power vol. up vol. down? I thought you needed to keep the CID.
Also, my understanding is that you can flash non-official ROMs and keep the CID. Is that the case or are you using non official ROMs?
I found a site online suggesting to flash the international ROM on the Razr, then you can go from there, but the links to the apps to do the upgrade don't work for me. Any thoughts on this path?

Mike

Firmwares are all listed here http://sbf.droid-developers.org/
I have a XT910K (Korea Telecom) and I bricked it with wrong firmware...only way I could revive it was by deleting the CID and flashing taiwanese stock JB 4.1.2.via RSD Lite..After that, I rooted it, installed Safestrap and now I have stock JB + Resurrection KK + Liquid Smooth KK + CM 11 KK, booting and working perfectly. So, beware of what you flash as/on stock, and once you have custom recovery as Safestrap or BMM, you can flash whatever you want.

Thanks for sharing your experience.
I'm assuming you're recommending to go with Safestrap and install a 2nd OS. Couple of questions.
1: Were you able to uninstall any of the Korean specific apps? Wanted to know if there is a list of safely removeable apps.
2: Which OS do you prefer? I'm looking for performance and battery.
Thanks.

Yes, I can recommend Safestrap since I haven't had a single problem with it so far.
1. You can uninstall any app as soon as you root your device (use Titanium Backup Pro, for example)
2.I keep one JB 4.2.2 rom and a few 4.4.2 roms on my device...since KK roms are "polished" enough now, there is no difference in performance or battery life. I would suggest KK, since it's the newest version with all features included. Roms I can recommend are Resurrection Remix, Liquid Smooth, SlimKat, Mokee OSP, Pacman etc, not necessarily in that order. My daily driver atm is Resurrection, fast, smooth and stable.
Hi,
Is there updates about your mobile,
I was looking for stable room for my xt910s after removing cid.
