Hi there,
I'm new to this world, i've an z ultra with 14.1.B.1.510 with locked bootloader, i've no notification for new update...
I don't need to flash costum roms, just the stock kitkat one, but i'd love rooting to use titanium backup and a few more programs.
It's the better to root with my actual rom or should i update first and then root~?
It's mandatory that i unlock the bootloader?
What's the best/simple way to root this device?
Thks
You don't have to unlock your bootloader to update to stock 4.4.4, you either download official PC Companion software and it will tell you that there is an update for your phone, or download Flashtool install the drivers included in Drivers folder and download a 14.4.A.0.108.ftf flash it through Flashtool and you are done

And about rooting? What's the simple method?
if you root before updating, you will lose root, you should update and then root your device, use Towelroot, it works flawlessly on the aforementioned ROM "14.4.A.0.108" I used it my self; Good luck

Backup your TA partitions after rooting and before unlocking bootloader.
as many of you know that all firmwares after ne6 cant be rooted with towelroot. here is a quick tutorial with links on how to downgrade to ne6 and then upgrade to the latest firmware and keep root. this is for those who also want to keep knox at 0x0.
1. DOWNLOAD G900TUVU1ANE6 FULL STOCK TAR FROM HERE https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23501681358541270
2. uNZIP THE FILE AND FLASH IT USING PC ODIN. WHICH YOU CAN GET HERE https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23212708291676783
3. ROOT WITH TOWELROOT . TOWELROOT IS HERE https://towelroot.com/
4.DOWNLOAD MOBILE ODIN PRO FROM THE PLAYSTORE IT WILL COST YOU AROUND $6
5.DOWNLOAD THE NEWEST STOCK TAR G900TUVU1CNK2 FROM SAMMOBILE OR FOR A MUCH FASTER LINK GET IT here https://mega.co.nz/#!lVEVUCZK!AZQLNxZ7-1VHtefWyHr1Rn_fnJo7xe_Hv9DMRXaYs0E
6. UNZIP THE FILE AND COPY IT TO YOUR SDCARD OR INTERNAL STORAGE ON YOUR PHONE.
7. USING MOBILE ODIN PRO CHOOSE THE OPEN FILE SELECTION AND THEN CHOOSE THE FILE THAT YOU COPIED TO THE PHONE
8. IGNORE THE WARNING FROM MOBILE ODIN REGARDING KNOX. IT WONT TRIP. TICK EVEROOT AND INJECT SUPERSU FLASH THE PHONE .
YOUR PHONE SHOULD BE ROOTED ONCE IT RESTARTS AND ON THE NEWEST FIRMWARE.
YOUR BOOTLOADER CAN NOT BE UPGRADED BY MOBILE ODIN. THAT CAN BE FLASHED SEPERATELY BY USING PC ODIN.LOOK FOR THE BOOTLOADER FILE IF YOU WISH TO UPGRADE IT BUT IN MY OPINION IT IS NOT CRITICAL TO INSTALL AT THIS POINT. MOST OF THESE FILES CAN BE FOUND HERE http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2715487 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2761412 MODEM AND BOOTLOADER FILES HERE http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52210611&postcount=4

Link on 5 is asking for a decryption key.
Links on 8 are not working.
Can SuperSU be upgraded to latest version on Play Store or is that not necessary?
Thanks for this!!!!!

So what are the implications of keeping the bootloader NE6? Everything else is NH5 in Samsung Phone Info.

after flashing ane2 with pc odin. root the phone with towelroot.
then install mobile odin pro . use mobile odin to to flash ang8
mobile odin will retain root if you tick everoot and inject supersu.
the ang8 full tar can be downloaded from sammobile or samsung updates or the firmware thread
. it includes the bootloader and the modem as well as everything else you would need,
the thing is that the bootloader cant be flashed with mobile odin.
for that you would need to flash just the bootloader in pc odin .

yes.
1. Downgrade (if youre using the .167 to .112)
2. Flash root through adb
3. Flash recovery through adb
4. Build pre-rooted upgrade zip
5. Flash with recovery
6. Now you're on .167 with root and bootloader locked.

Nice! Thanks
I have xperia m aqua e2353 with 26.1.A.2.167
I already downgraded to 112 and was able to root.
I want to flash .167
From the instructions, it says "build pre-rooted upgrade zip". I can't find a step-by-step procedure on doing this. Do I have to have a 167 ftf and use flash tool to extract kernel?
Sorry, new on M4....

This is how I did it with mine I included the rooting process too.
1.) Download flashtool and install all the drivers that is provided by flashtool (They're in the Flashtool/drivers folder in your C drive, I believe) In order to install the drivers, you have to disable windows 8 or 10's driver signature verification (to do that, open up settings then click "update and recovery then click the "recovery" option then click "advanced reboot" I don't know if the process is the same for Windows 8 though).
2.) Download the .112 firmware using XpeiraFirm (It's included in flashtool. You can use the commercial and Journalists one).
3.) Backup your data. (Text messages, call logs, music, photos).
4.) Flash the firmware using flash tool.
5.) If you lost your imei after the downgrade process, go ahead and do a factory reset. (It's somewhere in settings.).
6.) Download the rootkit and the TWRP(custom recovery) installer from this guide. Place them in the folder where you have the ADB and fastboot executable and then run the rootkit first then run the TWRP installer after.
7.) If you wish to update your firmware, just refer to the link in number 6 as there, you'll find the pre-rooted zip which you can use to update your phone to the latest firmware.
Good luck!

You're welcome. I edited the post by the way
After upgrading to 32.2.A.0.224 my root access is working only for some apps.
I had 32.1.A.1.185 with modded stock kernel and root (supersu 2.71) using these instructions, which worked fine with root:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z5/development/root-automatic-repack-stock-kernel-dm-t3301605
Then I updated to 32.2.A.0.224 using the ftf I created with flashtool.
After, I flashed the modded kernel (modded from 32.2.A.0.224) with supersu 2.74.
Then root only seems to work for titanium backup, and root checker.
But not for ES File Explorer, the root explorer option is not possible ("sorry, test failed") and access to the data directory is also not possible.
Root Explorer does work however.
Adfree is responding slow and sometimes it gets root access and sometimes not.
Everything responds slower.
Did I forget something in the upgrade process?
edit:
It seems that ES File Explorer doesn't find the right root files. To fix, I found this in an other thread:
Use another root explorer app with root permissions, and copy the contents of /su/bin/ (about 7 files) and paste them inside /system/xbin/

did you try with supersu 2.71?

What do you mean by "I just updated and it's fine fore me.?" Do you mean you simply downloaded the upgrade from PC or Phone itself and upgraded your OS and without loosing RECOVERY and ROOT ?:silly: . I am using Xperia Z5 Dual with 32.1.A.1.185 rooted and with recovery. Can I simply download the upgrade from within the phone or upgrade through PC and successfully Upgrade without loosing ROOT and RECOVERY access???? Really?:crying::crying:

I used http://www.flashtool.net/ to update to the latest version (you will lose root and recovery) reflashed recovery and boot img file again like i did for the first time I root my phone.
Hi all,
unfortunately I cannot post this message on the sony cross device dev thread since I am a relative new member and cannot post in the dev threads. My question actually is related to the following thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/tool-prfcreator-easily-create-pre-t2859904
I want to flash a pre rooted lollipop with latest firmware from Sony on my Sony Xperia Z Ultra. For that reason I used the PRFCreator.
I did the following:
I downloaded with Xperifirm the latest firmware for my Sony Xperia Z Ultra. I downloaded the following version: C6833_Customized CE1_1276-2235_14.6.A.1.236_R4D
I created the ftf file according to the steps outlined here: http://www.xperiablog.net/2014/08/1...re-files-using-xperifirm-and-flashtool-guide/
The last step was to use the PRFCreator as outlined here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/tool-prfcreator-easily-create-pre-t2859904
I used the following sources
- For SuperSU: SuperSU-v2.46.zip
- For Recovery: ZU-lockeddualrecovery2.8.26-RELEASE.combined.zip
I rebooted the phone into TWRP, made a wipe and installed the zip file which was created before with PRFCreator. Unfortunately the phone does not boot after the flash. No LED is lighting, screen is black and no boot logo to see.
My bootloader is unlocked.
When I flash the self created ftf file with the flashtool (without SuperSU and without recovery) the phone boots. Can anybody help me whats going wrong and how I can created a pre rooted firmware with latest sony firmware for my Sony Xperia U Ultra?
With TWRP Log
Here is the TWRP Log: https://pastebin.com/FJcpyT3p
What seems strange to me:
Code:
Couldn't find partition with matching uuid
run_program: child exited with status 1
about to run program [/tmp/sinflash] with 6 args
Kernel flashed.
Before I flashed the prerooted ftf file I did the following:
I flashed C6833_14.1.B.1.532_NUT.ftf
I rooted the device with the following method: Bin4ry's "Root MANY ANDROID"
I installed ZU-lockeddualrecovery2.8.26-RELEASE.combined.zip

I figured out that the problem was due to an older twrp build. After I used TWRP Version 3.0.2 for togari it worked. Unfortunately I can not use dual recovery but that is not a big issue. I followed the following guide to install TWRP 3.0.2:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xp...ent/twrp-recovery-2-8-7-0-2016-02-03-t3307043
With this version I could install the image made by the PRFCreator.
