[Q] Insertcoin restart issues - HTC Desire 601

Hey all I've been testing the new Insertcoin rom for my HTC ZARA_UL (Rogers Canadian) and everything seemed stable for a bit but a couple of things I have noticed are when my screen stays in standby for too long it wont turn back on I have to reboot my phone and other than that every now and then I get random restart issues where my phone will stay on for maybe 5 min tops then reboot and continue this process for random amounts of time. Sometimes I can go all day without any issues however and others I'll go for hours in a row with this problem. Not sure what to post/ how to get any debug info but direct me and I will dump any logs that I can to help solve this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
My bootloader screen is as follows:
Tampered
Unlocked
ZARA_UL PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-2.22.0000
RADIO-1.26.40e.00.14
OpenDSP-v18.2.0268.0925
OS-2.14.631.3
eMMC-boot 1024MB
Feb 26 2014, 12:27:49.0
**generic hboot options**
Currently using PhilZ Touch 6.26.4 recovery as twrp requires touch input and I have a few dead zones on my digitizer that deny my ability to properly flash through it.

I have a similar issue. Sometimes when i turn my phone off, 3 mins later my phone reboots sometimes its in bootloop. I replaced it and the battery and it makes no diff. Im not sure why it happens. Im on stock rom and jb. Its s-off and unlocked. Its possible that it causes by high humidity

Quite possible I know that it was some internal water damage causing my digitizer malfunctions however I have tried a few other roms and this is the only one that has these issues that I can tell.

Update** removed the security lock screen entirely and it seems to havbe fixed the need to restart the phone after staying in standby for too long and so far no random reboots/bootlooping. Hopefully just my phone not liking the lock screen for some reason?? Will post updates after a few more days use to see if the issues were all cleared up or not.

Speaking of Insertcoin restart issues...
Everything about this ROM is better than stock, but one of the goodies seems to be misbehaving. (I'm using the CL version)
Every time I try to use InsertCoin Kontrol to make any tweaks whatsoever, when I hit that refresh button, the phone reboots immediately with nothing changed. I've re-flashed it a couple of times, both dirty and clean, and it doesn't seem to make a difference.
(Made sure that I didn't inadvertently upgrade Kontrol with the M7/M8 rom stuff that just got pushed, nope.)
Perhaps I have an app that's not playing nice, but I haven't found it yet, not sure what sort of fault causes the phone to reboot immediately like that. Or is that what "refresh" means......

[Q] Touchscreen Issues??

Hello all,
I've had the same touchscreen? issues with 2 different Evo3D's. The first phone I had replaced even though when I took the phone to a Sprint repair center, the Slate machine said theres nothing wrong with the phone.
What happens is quite simply is the phone starts acting crazy. It acts like Im pressing on the screen, making tons of selections, calling people etc...I can click on the power button to make it stop. But then it will act up again in a few minutes. The first phone I had the store flash back to stock, turned s-off etc... It didn't make a difference. No matter what ROM is on the phone it continues to do it. So I had that phone replaced.
The second phone does the exact samething. If I didn't have the first phone in front of me when I received the second one, I would have thought they sent me the same phone back to me. I rooted this one right away as the other one so I dont know if the phone had the same problem before the root process. I've stuck on a ton of different ROMS to various degrees of success. I'm running Eternity right now because it allows me to at least use the phone semi functionally. The touchscreen problems are limited to the upper 20% of the screen where its unresonsive most of the time. But the craziness clicking is down to a minimum comapred to other roms.
I fixed the problem once when I was flipping ROMS and kernels. I put on ViperROM2.1 then flashed the Tiamat kernel. I was like yesssssss, I found the right combo. But alot of the phones functions didnt work like voice reconition, 4g, etc... So I cleared storage to start again and all the problems of the touchscreen as before came back. I've tried flashing kernels like Tiamat, stock, dual cores, single cores. Always have the same result. Last bit of info is I tried to superwipe and that failed. So maybe theres something in the internal memory thats causing all these problems? any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

My guess is that something is screwing up kernal wise or your flashing. If your phone was fine stock then something got dicked during the flash.
Is there anything I can do to a clean wipe and start fresh again? Or should I try to figure out why the Superwipe isnt working? Or do I have to flash all the stock back on and turn the s-on and get a new phone? I think the digitizer is causing these issues.

Phone Rebooting

I'm very hesitant about posting new threads but I've been trying to fix this issue for a few weeks now and I can't seem to figure it out. I've searched the S-OFF forums, formatted, reinstalled, rebooted, reflashed, and have exacerbated all my limited knowledge and now I come to you for help.
The moment I finished the S-OFF process, the problem started. I can send and receive text messages (sometimes it resets itself), and when I open the phone program and press a number or anything on the numberpad, the phone freezes and resets. I've verified that the phone is set to CDMA/LTE and so I know that isn't the problem.
I can choose a contact and press call, and sometimes it resets, but other times it completes the call. At one time, I used the phone trouble free for a few hours and then it started resetting all on its own.
I can also browse the internet (connected to 3G, 4G, or WiFi), and sometimes the phone will reset itself.
What I've done to try and fix it so far:
I initially had a problem with internal and external storage, so I did the fixes listed in the S-OFF post, and they worked like a champ.
I also installed the following roms and had the same issue:
Ineffabilis-Deus_v1.0.1-Odex
RezROM_S4_v2.5
CleanROM Pro 4.5
NeWts-OnE-XxX-RC2-Signed
vigorOTAStockRooted
Currently have the following rom installed (seems to reset less often than the others):
Business_ICS4.0.3_Sense3.6-v5.3
I tried this, but I can't type anything into the numberpad without the phone resetting, with or without the back cover on.
I've installed the Stock Radio from 3.14.605.5 and 3.14.605.10 leak (5/7 & 6/10)
This is what my bootloader currently has
= JuopunutBear =
VIGOR PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-2.21.2121
RADIO-1.22.10.0421r/1.22.10.0424r
OpenDSP-v10.6.0.7611.00.0919
eMMC-boot
The recovery I have installed is:
AmonRa 3.15 (GB/ICS)
Any ideas?
Update:
I attempted to sync Google goodness, and now it bootloops...

Worked
I'm not sure what Voodoo this is, but I think it worked. I'll know for sure in a few days...
It is frustrating that I couldn't find it on my own... How did you know about it and how did you know that it might work? I'd like to know for the future so I can troubleshoot better on my own.
An RUU completely restores and/or upgrades every single part of the software and firmware. So therefore ANY possible software problem would gave to be fixed by an RUU. If an RUU doesn't fix he problem, its a hardware issue.

I've had to RUU mine due to tinkering so many times I've developed a digital nose for when it'll work lol.
Generally speaking, I've noticed two common issues with the Rezound:
The firmware not having been flashed completely (thus reboots and other weirdness) and the kernel/boot.img not having flashed (resulting in the phone getting stuck at the splash screen).
Also, I fancy myself to be some sort of dark Technomancer...so it's my job to know!
Glad it worked though!

Well thanks for your insight. I've installed at least one other RUU, but it didn't fix it. Good catch and I think your Technomancerness is right on the money.
Props :good:

[Q] random reboots

Ok I have been having an issue where my phone randomly reboots or completely powers off. This started after I started using newtsone ics ROM. It was suggested I try other ics roms which I did and then it was suggested I switch back to a gb ROM which I did. However it is still doing it. I thought maybe the battery was lose and it was losing power so I tried to wedge a small piece of paper in there to make a tight fit but that didn't work. It doesn't do this if connected to a power source and I don't have a battery to test my battery theory. Has anyone else had this issue or have any ideas on how to fix it? My newest issue now also is that texts don't come through. They only come through when I make a call then six or seven of them will finally come through. Any thoughts? I'm hboot 1.40 s-off and running the latest radio.
Are you overclocked?

Ye I gR this.before too. r u using boost or virgin mobile. also reflash your radio. I was having reboot issues with the baseband 1216 but it was because I didn't use freezas all in one. my pro wasent right now I have 1.43_003 where I had 1.24_003
No I'm not overclocked and not on boost or virgin. I don't know if mentioned it before in my first post, but it only does this when the phone is sitting idle and the screen is off. If I unlock the phone and the screen is on, actively using it, or it's on the charger then it's fine. I'm going to try reflashing the radio or going back to my old one and see if I have any luck with that. Anything else you can think of in the mean time let me know.

Screen locks up and freezes then reboots

My phone keeps locking up and freezing and then rebooting. Or sometimes it wont reboot and then I have to pull the battery out. Basically what happens is I'll be surfing facebook or even using google maps and what will happen is the phone will freeze/lock up and you'll see a line of distorted pixels and the phone becomes unresponsive after that. You can't push any buttons it wont respond to anything. It either then stays on that screen and then reboots itself after a moment or it just will stay lit up on the screen you were on or it will just go black and become unresponsive. You can plug it in it wont charge it wont turn on or anything. The only way to get it back on is pull the battery and start it up again.
Weird mentions: If I try to start it up right after it's had the lock/freeze it will do it again almost immediately. It will load and right as it gets to the home screen it locks up again. I usually have to wait a little bit and then I can start it and then I can use my phone. But if I try to do to much on it, like running google maps while using navigation (Like keeping the screen on all the time) the phone is gunna lock up and freeze. But if I push the power button while it's running that app it wont lock up and freeze.
Thoughts: I dunno if it has to do with the processor and if it works too much it locks up and freezes and causes the phone to crash or if it's a heat issue.
I have an HTC Amaze 4g Phone rooted, S-OFF running EnergyROM ICS 4.0.3
I have formatted it several times, re-installed the ROM and still getting the same freezes/lock ups. Any suggestions would be awesome! Also if I can help clarify anything or provide more information for you lemme know! Thanks so much for taking the time to read all this mess and help me out!
Sounds like you did almost everything to eliminate the possibility of a software problem. If you're still under warranty, I'd say get a new one =)
Have you tried to format the SD card? I've had the same issue and that's how I solved it.
Another option is to get a new battery

That's what I was thinking because when it does lock up and freeze like that the battery will lose 20% to 30% of power from that one freeze. I could be at 100% battery power and then that the phone glitches like that then I lose that much battery power? Yeah I'm gunna try and get a new one.
have you tried any other roms? have you upgraded your kernel?
Try to go in steps and stop where it fixes the problem. It happened to my sensation when I really tried to mess up with system files. For me it got fixed on step 2
0.5) Make backup of storages on computer and take out external memory card
1-) Flash the stock ruu (use search in development thread) reboot
2-) format internal storage
3-) it might be hardware issue, depending on your warranty, you might get it fixed by HTC/t-mobile.
Try the methods 0-2 at-least

I think it's the hardware. Because when I'm in recovery it freezes even in there. I even put in the new battery I bought and I'm still getting those random lock ups. I even took out the SD card for safe measure to make sure it wasn't that.
I would back everything up, do a complete wipe, flash a stock RUU and then see if it happens. Or take the easy way out and call your carrier for a replacement. If you have T-Mobile, they're pretty awesome and quick about replacements.
Call T-Mobile for a replacement..
Its a memory parity error on either the GPU or CPU... yes it is heat related, hence an almost instant lock up on warm reboot.

I just had to do a warranty return on a completely stock unit to T-Mobile for this very issue. Identical symptoms to OP. Phone seemed to behave normally if little was done to it, but streaming any sort of data could get it to hard lock pretty quick. I was assuming it was a bad memory chip somewhere.
I had a similar issue. Different battery. No problems now.

[Q] Phone keeps rebooting

Hi, I recieved a refurbished replacement rezound from asurion when i dropped mine in water a couple of weeks ago. When i got the phone it immediately had the problem of rebooting all the time. I didnt think anything of it assuming that it was just a problem with ics so i rooted the phone and installed a different rom, i still had the rebooting problem so i flashed another rom and i Still had the problem. The phone seemingly reboots at random dozens of times a day. It has even locked up and rebooted in the recovery and even the bootloader. I cant return it because i dropped it and there is damage so i would have to pay 100$ again. any help?
If you tried complete wipe (system, data, cache, Dalvic) and clean flash without restoring anything and it's still rebooting, I would say the next step should be an RUU. (HERE is the latest).

Yup, i always wipe it clean. Ill try an ruu, but that has nothing to do with it rebooting even in the revovery and bootloader does it?
I know very little of how this low-level hardware control stuff works, but it could technically be possible to make a faulty hboot that will reboot sometimes but normally work. An RUU will replace your hboot with stock, so if it's anything hboot related, the RUU should fix it. If it's not hboot related, I'm afraid it could only be faulty hardware. You could try replacing the battery, but I don't see how a battery could cause reboots. Also, if it is faulty hardware that shuts the phone down completely, flashing an RUU could be risky - if it shuts down while the hboot or radios are being flashed, you could be left with a hard brick, which would be even worse than constant rebooting.
As I said, though, I don't know much about phone hardware or low-level software, so it could be some other problem that I'm entirely unaware of.
I have the battery from my old phone that i could try. and could it have anything to do with the sim card? im using the sim card that came with my old phone that i dropped in water and i didnt use the new one they sent me because i didnt really want to go through the trouble of activating it.
I know nothing of how SIM cards work, but you could try taking out the card, and seeing if the phone will still reboot.
If it doesn't reboot right away, just activate the new one and see how it will work then - it's just a 5 minute (or even shorter) phone call.

And you might want to get a velcro glove and case set.
What is your hboot version, what recovery are you running, and what rom did you install?
Have you tried connecting your phone to the computer in fastboot mode and removing the battery while it's powered by USB and see if you get the random rebooting in hboot when the battery is out?
Try removing the sim and booting as was mentioned earlier as well.
So update, I installed set cpu and set it at performance and the max at 1300mhz and it hasnt rebooted since, which is saying something since it would reboot about every minute before. I fixed it! but its still not as nice as my girlfriends DNA haha oh well. thank you all for your help

Did you do this on a stock kernel?
Get another replacement. Mine had an issue where wifi would not turn on. Even after I s off and tried installing roms and kernels it wouldn't boot. My replacement works perfect.
I couldn't have gotten a free one because I dropped it and there are scratches on it now.

By switching it to performance mode you locked the CPU at its Max value which will annihilate your battery if you leave it like that. What that means is that the voltage of your CPU was too low at the bottom end and it was making the phone reboot. If your min before was 192, bump it to 384. If it was 384, bump it to 432.

I had asurion replace my incredible when I broke it once. Shortly after the CPU would over heat all the time and reboot. They covered it under warranty even though it was used. They might cover it under warranty if it hasn't been too long.
