I adjusted my home screens the way i wanted them, and then some time after rebooted my phone. When it booted back up, one of my screens was sitting over top of the smart tips and fitness screen as shown in the attached picture. I cant remove the icons and i have tried turning off smart screen and turning it back on, but it stayed the same. I cant think of anything short of a wipe and restore that would fix the issue. Has anyone else had this problem?

If i have my phone in sleep mode, and pass my hand across the screen without touching it - it awakens to the lock-screen sometimes.
Is this usual behaviour? Is there a setting to stop this, or is the phone extremely sensitive?
Thanks.

Touching the screen shouldn't wake up the phone, even if you intentionally touches it.
Maybe you have some proximity sensor controled apps running, don't you ?
Do this test: Try to swipe your hand across the screen, far away from the proximity sensor and see if this happens.
If not, now try the opposite.
Does it take a screen shot when this happens?

if you mean that screen automatically turns on without doing anything, then it refers to a recent buggy installed app.
Could be caused by apps that you installed. Try identify the apps 1st.

I find this when there is a strong breeze across the phone...
Read this somewhere it seems it maybe to do with static discharge. Dunno how true it is it doesn't happen to me. Are you Raiden by any chance?

Hello,
the following problem appears when i try to unlock the phone after some hours: i can see my home screen, but the screen stays extremely dim. When i try to start an app (e.g. browser) the screen turns black. I can unlock it again, but the screen stays dim. after some unlocking the screen becomes normal (normal brightness) and also the apps are startable.
i am using autobrightness, the stock firmware, 4.1.1 (i9300xxdlih) power saver is not turned on.
thx, i hope you can help me solving this problem

i updated mobile phone to android versiopn 4.1.2. this morning. Unfortunately the problem still appears.
Maybe its a hardware defect?
Try to disable somehow light sensor and change settings to non auto brightness.

i disabled auto brightness and set the brightness to the highest level. But its still same: very dim and after a while a black screen; after a few times of unlocking, the display works normally
I have just seen the same issue on a friend's S3.
Anyone else? I feel like this is a very big issue that is still lurking in a lot of devices.
I tried it myself and I toggled the power button to turn the screen on and off.
It doesn't take long but sometimes when the screen turns back on, it's super dim and you can faintly see the lockscreen image.
You have to cycle the screen several more times to get it to the 'correct' brightness, and no it is NOT a brightness setting.
It's some hardware issue in the phone.
Sorry for the necrobump, but I only found this thread. I have this problem too since about a week back. It makes my phone useless at times. I first thought it was a software issue. I have an app (called Twilight) for dimming the screen more than normal settings and also toning it, for nightime use, and I thought that was the culprit first, but nope. I have flashed rom, recovery, wiped all caches I can think of. Still happens, just now I was in the middle of installing android revolution hd, and the screen ultradimmed on me so I can't finish the process
Thing is, a few months ago I managed to crack my screen by way of gravity and concrete. I let the samsung brand service centre in Stockholm repair it for me (it is out of warranty) and this issue with the dimming never happened before that. Then again, it didn't happen directly afterwards either... but still. So, I am thinking: either me dropping it caused more damages and this is because of that. Or the service center did a bad install of the new screen. Or, the replacement screen that was installed has a defect in itself. I am leaning a bit towards the third explanation... maybe different batches of screens?
Does anyone have any ideas? If I am to contact the service center and complain about their work I would like to be able to point towards a "known problem"...

Take it back, if it didn't happen before then the new screen is most likely.
It isn't a common problem
Has anyone ever had the notification pulldown issue where it wont stay pulled down. Mine has developed a mind of its own where sometimes it wont register a full pull and will go back up or other times it will just go back up after a second, 5 seconds, ect...

My DNA does the same, also does not pull down in stock messaging app....

Well I had weather on my home screen I took it off and thought that was the problem but it wasn't. But I also don't see it as much...and yes stock launcher
Same problem. I've had the weather app on the home screen since day 1 but didn't start seeing the loading message until last week when I was playing around with my lock screen settings.
I turned off fingerprint lock and changed my knock code a couple times and then changed my mind and turned the fingerprint back on.
I've been getting the loading message randomly since then.
What the heck? It's strange.

I think it's when you're in an app for a long time and the home screen is cleared out of the ram. When you go into home it has to reload. Just a guess..

how many apps do you have running, i have never seen this but i greenify everything thats not lg and my keyboard i actually dont even have a lag from when i hit home button to when i see the home animation flipping my apps across my back ground. but one question did you freeze or disable any lg apps, i saw on another post were they had issues with knock on and the fingerprint scanner after disabling the LG home launcher app, but they didnt have the problem when it was enabled even though they were using nova, it use to happen on my note four till turned back on the samsung apps so try that.
I have 18 apps in my home screen. And I'm running everything stock. I did disable some stuuf but nothing lgish

I haven't disabled anything. I have very few apps and I didn't have the "problem" until starting last weekend.
The only thing I can remember changing was playing around with fingerprint vs no lock screen vs only knock code. Went back to knock code with fingerprint and started seeing the loading message randomly.
I definitely don't have more open than I did a few weeks ago. I close whatever I'm not using.

I'm on my third device and two of them had this issue. I could always replicate it by going into an app like chrome, turning off the screen while still in app, turning the screen on then pressing home. Everytime I got the loading message, no matter what I did it persisted. I factory reset and flashed stock. I'm thinking it's a bug that only effects some devices.. I'm sure a software update will fix this and the smart notice app restarting like first install after every boot too.

Did anyone else that has experienced this have a G3 or 4 and transfer data through lg backup?
it might be you have to many apps running at once that arent closing. what are you using to close the apps i noticed even after doing a clear all most of the apps are still running when i have greenify close them. also this isnt exactly part of your problem but i noticed that my phone acted weird like not turning on or screen staying on after i hit the power button when i reset it. but after taking out the tmobile apps it worked fine, i think one of them is causeing a problem once you root the phone cause it was fine the first few days i had it untill i rooted it and reset it to fix the knock issues i was having. so try removing all the tmobile stuff and the blue app thing is tmobile to. i also dont have lock out on my phone anymore it only messes with my rooted apps.
Only apps I'm using regularly are chrome (usually have 4 to 5 tabs open) TuneIn Radio (only open when using it) email, text messaging, camera, gallery.
I've only installed 10 apps. TuneIn, Dropbox, Shazam, my album (Facebook picture uploads), cartwheel (from target), Verizon fios, charging report, flipp (shopping circular ads) and tapatalk.
My main home screen has the smaller weather widget (was there when I got the phone) and one of my other screens has a clock widget.
I really don't think multitasking is causing this issue. No idea what but it doesn't seem like I'm using any more than I was last week yet from the day I bought the phone up until just days ago I had never seen it.
Curiouser and curiouser.

What the heck? It's strangs.
Here's one for you :
It's not only doing it when I press the home button.
It just did it when I pressed the back soft key from the messaging app back to my app drawer.
I got the "loading" message pop-up right in front of the app drawer window.

İt is becouse glass screen protector. Android 5.1 has some changes on proximity sensor and that couses the problem with glass screen protector.
Mine has no screen protector but keeps going black when I make a call to it can't cut call off unless they do
I never put any screen protectore on it. Its all original from sony with sony logo

I had my screen replaced
After I had my screen replaced it did this. I was racking my brains as to why...
I read somewhere it could be recalibrated but you had to do it in Android 4.4 kitkat (not 4.4.4)
For some reason you couldn't do it in lollipop. I thought, what the hell. Backed up all important files. Flashed kitkat found how to recalibrate and it worked then on like a charm.
Phantomrocks on the sony forum says...
"You have to sacrifice resetting the phone using the Sony PC software 1st. Avoid data backup from old accounts.
Then, after the reboot is done and Android is reinstalled with update x.x.x.534 goto the dialer & type *#*#7378423#*#* then press dial
In the menu that will come go to calibration and then choose proximity sensor. (If you run the test it might give error = -1) Then, set settings to default and it may ask to reboot the device.
After reboot type *#*#7378423#*#* then press dial. In the menu that will come go to calibration and then choose proximity sensor do the test and it will show success. VIOLAAAaaaa!!!!"
I just did a factory reset and lost my data to solve this problem
I wish i knew this before
Did you solved the problem?
