The /system is 2GB, the rest 2GB are used in other partitions.

No, but if you root your device then you can use foldermount to mount the internal (4GB) sd to your (probably much bigger) external sd.

[Q] Files over 4Gb

Is it true that it's impossible to put files larger than 4Gb on either the micro sd card or the phone's internal memory? If yes, can this limitation be overcome? I'm having in view large movie files, primarily.

Well, I don't know for sure, I read that there is a 2Gb ext4 system partition which is allocated to applications, and I don't know about the rest of the internal memory.
SD cards are usually formated as fat32, which puts this 4Gb limitation, and I don't know if the phone will work with a card formated as anything else.

Hmmm Ok. The EXT4 is /data, and the system partitions. So if it's using FAT32, then you are correct...
I don't think stock rom supports any other filesystems really though.

[Q] Internal memory

my galaxy s2 says it has 11,50gb on his sd card and on his internal storage it says it has 2gb is this normal i am using the miuisp ics
Please help
Yes, normal for a 16gb model. Some is partitioned for the system, some is partitioned for app installation (the 2gb). What you are left with after all that is 11.5gb, that you can use for pictures, movies, file storage, whatever.
Thanks

64 GB SDCard is useless ?

Hi,
i have a 64 gb sdcard and it seems useless to me since i found out that "moving android/data/xy" to sdcard doesnt work. (btw the app wants to download all data again because he dont "looks" if there are the data on sdcard) Is there a workaround? Im thinking about a 16 GB sdcard then... :/
For Game Loft games and a few others, I use the app 'GL to SD' - works great!

micro sd card is quite cheap now , get at least a min 32gb , now i dont even know what to do with my old 8 gb card , use it as a toothpic ? lol
And that does not work with CM 10 without apps?
What are theese apps exactly do? Isnt there anything possible to do without extra apps? I have much time!
use GL to SD
else, format it as fat32 and use directory bind

There is a mod out there which switches your internal sd into external and vice versa, so you have 64GB internal sd storage after installing that mod.

I'm fairly certain that you can't do that. The internal memory in your phone is actually internal memory on your phone and the external sd is actually an sd card. You can't just transfer memory from one to the other because they are physically different devices.
It's like trying to add a 4GB flash drive to your computer's hard disk, you just can't do it.

Yes, you can. By enabling swapping, you'll buy memory size at the cost of memory speed. This question pops up every week, and a quick search would have given you an answer like this.

Hm.. you can try using SD_Ext. Its a partition that can be used by apps to store Android apps, cache, etc. (Normally found in /data). I'm not too sure about the procedures, but you could do a google search on it. It basically requires you to resize your sd cards partition, add another partition, and requires some small mods to your current android system. (Installing an app, etc.)
Try here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1750888 and google for sd ext'
EDIT: If you meant extending your RAM, follow kuisma's post. But if you meant extending your ROM or Internal mem, this post applies to it.

You are both correct, but talks about different things.
You can not transfer physical memory from the SDcard or internal NAND flash to RAM, but you can use them to increase the virtual memory.

It can support upto 2TB Micro sd card, figures doesnt matter at all, Only Class matters. Redmi Note 3 supports SDXC class which has range of 64 GB to 2TB. Companies dont advertise it because of licensing issues.
It's officially 32gb......There are 3 types of SD cards in micro SD family. SD,SDHC,SDXC....... formatting like Fat 16, fat32, exfat owned by Microsoft. All OEMs pay royality charges for using its patients.
SD, format: fat16, range:128mb to 2gb (I don't know)
SDHC, format:fat32, range:4gb to 32gb(file limit:4gb
SDXC, format:exfat, range:64gb to 2Tb. (No limit)
Fat32 support maximum file size of 4gb per file. Try coping a file which is bigger than 4gb, SD card with fat 32 fails to copy.....exfat doesn't have this limitation.
Redmi note 3 or any phone that is labelled as 32gb supported can support SDXC upto 2Tb micro SD card,if you format that card to fat32. Ya you have 4gb file limitation...low and mid range phones avoid exfat license fee with Microsoft.
Also remember windows default format tool won't give option like fat32 when formatting 64gb or above. You only get exfat and NTFS. You need to use third-party formatting tools and format 64+GB card as fat32 to use it in officially labelled as 32gb supported phones. So thats why top range htc, Samsung, Sony with SD support labels upto 2tb, bcz they pay exfat formart support royality to Microsoft..
Hope this sd card doubts are cleared
format it to ext4 via twrp and when offered to format via android system just ignore.
