Using Link2SD on X10i - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I recently began to get the Low Memory warning and decided to use Link2SD as I had used it on many phones before.
I used EaseUS Partition Master Home Edition with my SD connected to the computer via a card reader. I created an ext2 partition following instructions form another thread, but my phone says my SD is blank.
Another post told me to create the 2nd partition too as FAT32, but my phone only detects the 2nd partition.
Some forums told that the stock ROM does not support ext file formats so I would have to flash a custom ROM or Kernel.
IS there ANY way to do this without flashing anything? If not, what should I do?
I appreciate any help.
PS: I am using a Sony Erricson Xperia X10i with Stock upgraded 2.3 ROM.

TROUBLESHOOTING (For sdcard)

Here's a simple guide/solution if anyone who have problems with their microsdcard
1.Blank Sdcard notification
If u have partition on ur sdcard and u switch from 2.1 to 2.2, u need to reformat the card. Because 2.2 does not need the 2nd partition.
When u had partition your sdcard on 2.1 rom and u get blank notification, please do a reboot. it will eliminate the meassge.
ps:i do recommend using ext2 as 2nd partition and use link2sd as u can manually select the apps, dalvik-cache files and the libs files
2.Unrecognised, Failed to read sdcard, damage sdcard and etc
Required a laptop/computer assistance
Please try this method before you try anything else. usually this will solve all the problem you facing
1.Go to my computer and right click on your sdcard icon
2.Select properties and then click on the Tools tab
3.Click on error checking/check now
4.Remember to tick on the automatic fix and then click start
this will required 10 to 20 minute, depending on the size of your sdcard.
3.Last resort
Format your sdcard using your x10 or pc.
if both method cant be using, re-partition your sdcard using MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition 6.0. set it as primary and using FAT32

PS:This troubleshooting method does not 100% will work but since it works for me most of the time, so i wanted to share out. Hope I wont offend anyone.
Mod, if this thread is useless, please delete it and sorry for the trouble.
Thanks for the thread. Tried it on my sd card because it shows blank sd card after I partitioned it into fat32 and ext3 for miui cobrato rom but it didn't work. Nice share anyway.

Nope, I only put in the partitioned sd card into the phone and started it. I partitioned using parted magic. But for MIUI roms, it's needed to partition into ext3 for the ap2sd+ to work.
same problem here. i just can't seem to get the sd card to work after flashing custom 2.2 or 2.3 roms. but the sd card work just fine on any custom 2.1 roms.
i'm currently on ThGo v1.5.5e. this rom works great.
I'm using EWjet 2.3.4x. I plugged the sdcard into my pc, used mini partition tool to reduce the size of fat32 partition and making 800mb of unallocated space at the end of disk. Then I created a new partition (primary ext3) of 800mb, applied and removed the sdcard from pc.
When I plug it on x10 it says that my sdcard is empty.
I already tried to reboot twice and it keeping saying that is empty.
Link2SD says that I don't have a second partition, but I created a 800mb ext3 partition.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

btw, i would suggest u try out ex2 partition because its more common for our phone to recognize it.
sorry for late reply. i tot this thread is dead. thinking wanna ask mod to delete it
well, i tried formating it to fat32 through windows and it worked. but what boggles me is that only some 2.3 roms can detect my sd card. thgo and ewjet works just fine. any miui roms and others doesn't seem to find the sd card. it just says sd card not present or unmounted sd card.
well, i had never tried using any miui rom b4 but from what i read, its best after flashing the miui rom, it it recommended to format the sdcard

[Q] SD Partitioning

how can i put a partition on my SD card does anyone know or can anyone help me out as to how to do it,iv looked for sd partition prog but got no joy finding anything ,so,CHEERS IN ADVANCE TO ALL Replies that r helpful
Is it rooted?
If it is and you have xRecovery, then the easiest is to format from within xRecovery. Click "back" button when you see SONYERICSSON on startup and then choose format.
Use mini tools partitioning wizard...
NOT rooted but am debating on doing it but nmot sure if it is worth it...............what u guys think bout rooting n puttin a diff rom on it got mini pro
Take in mind, using recovery-tools build-in partition tools and you will loose some of (if not all) files on the SD-card.
You can use EASEUS Partition Master (freeware). Se detailed guide here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1194499
SD partation
Well I don't know why you need SD partition as you not rooted your device to have advance option of custom ROM?
SD partition use for mainly Apps2sd future but you cant if your device is not rooted, if you dont root your device you can still enjoy apps2sd by http://thetechnoclub.com/google-oce...ps-to-sd-card-in-android-2-1-eclair-appstosd/

How to Move apps from Phone memory to SD in Android 2.1

How to Move apps from Phone memory to SD in Android 2.1
in Xperia X10
My phone is rooted.
any help????
Your options would be scripts like DarkTremor or (the slightly more user-friendly) Link2SD.
But be warned: both are not 100% stable... I've finally removed DarkTremor after a lot of issues: How about upgrading to a custom ROM instead?
Hi.
I dont want to start new topic so I use this one to describe my problem.
I read a lot of webs to find solution but here's comes some problems with that.
I've got Samsung Gio S5560 and 4GB SD card. After creating 2 primary partitions FAT32 and ext2 link2sd says that "no space left on device" and i cannot do anything. Even when I use 2GB card or create partition f.e. ext3 it doesn't works.
Can anyone help with that ?
Sorry for my english. I hope is understandable
Of course phone had been rooted.
Android 2.2.1
Regards.
I'm not sure how these scripts determine which partition to use... have you tried partitioning through ClockworkRecovery? Maybe they need the partitions in a certain order or (more likely) some other requirement. CR would very likely take any such requirements into account.
P.S. Your English sounds fine to me, but this doesn't come from a native speaker either, so...
I used to create partitions MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition. On YT there ale some tutorials so I used them. At the beginning I create FAT32 and then ext2. Maybe at the morning I try some new configs with my SD card.

CWM 6.0.2.7 - 64 GB ext SD card, Unable to mount / format / access, etc.

Hi there,
I have the following issue and hope to find somebody with a solution here in the XDA-world...would be great.
Of course I did some searching before I post here, but the results are not sufficient for me...
I am using a 64 GB external SD card in my Samsung Galaxy S III since a few days. Before I put data to the card, I performed a format via the phone itself. The access works great - I can use all my files when I use the phone in normal operation. (with Ultima Rom).
Today I downloaded the latest ROM release and wanted to flash it via CWM 6.0.2.7 and I encountered a problem - I cannot access the external SD card in CWM recovery. It simply say´s "Can´t mount external SD".
Why is it? Any solution proposals? I used to have a 2GB card and the installations worked fine with CWM here....
Is it a wrong formatting probably? Or the size?
Thanks for any suggestions!!!
You should do some search before post, but since you are here, I give you some briefly information, but you have to search more details yourself.
1. 64 GB sdcard is formated in exFAT file system which CWM recovery doesn't support it, that's why you have problem with 64 , but OK with 2GB sdcard. (Some latest recovery has now support exFAT I think )
2. Solution, format your sdcard into FAT32 file system, or change to 32 GB sdcard because unless you have countless files or blue ray movies otherwise you won't need 64GB at all, that's what I did, I had 64 and change to 32 to avoid any kinda potential problem

1. Use PhilZ Touch recovery (based on 6.0.2.8 - I think 6.0.2.7 was also very buggy - and with a new Samsung kernel supporting exFAT).
2. Format as FAT32.
I am currently using the 1st approach, but keep in mind that many ROMs (mostly based on CM10 stuff) still have a huge bug where the exFAT partition is not recognized but instead some stuff is written to the first sector - when that takes place just put the exFAT card in a SD-reader in Win7/8, reject any suggestion to format it and then from the command line run CHKDSK /F Letter:
Thank you!!!
Thanks a lot to both of you!!! It worked out! :highfive:
I also managed to search for "how to format an SDCard to FAT32", no problem.
To be honest I also had a look for a possible solution like you suggested prior to my post --> I just was not confident that these suggestions will solve the issue since I read many times "tried - but no success"...
I just wanted to be sure, coming back from work, not to spend hours to solve it, if you already have "the one working" solution available. Once again many thanks - I really appreciate this community, even if its my 2nd active post...

[Q] Xperia X10 - It won't recognize MicroSD Card

Hello everybody,
I'm new to this forum and let me say that all the hard work is done here it's just awesome My Xperia X10 is alive again thanks to the USA Generic Kernel+ROM I found here.
I'd checked many threads related to my issue but I did not find a similar one so that's the reason I'm posting (in case someone could say it'S been posted already!). The problem is the following:
The phone won't recognize the SD Card nor the xRecovery tool. I wiped everything and started again with the generic rom 2.3 I found here in order to check if it was a problem related to the customized rom I had before (which name I cannot remember right now). Now with this stock rom, the problem persists, but it's not a hardware issue I'm totally sure of that, because my cousin gave me this phone and he used the SDCard without problems the day he gave it to me (he listened to music, downloaded photos, etc); he removed his sdcard (if you ask :silly
Any ideas? People says in forums that it's something related to 2.3 Android Version, so if that's the case, I want to downgrade (any good roms out there, this is an Xperia x10a.
Thanks in advance! <3
BUMP!
Bumping this thread! (following the rules)
Thank you.
Can you access the SD card in a PC?
Does the SD card have a second partition?
Check with Mini Tool Partition Manager that the SD card is formatted as FAT32 with only one partition.

I fixed it four days ago; I just had to format the SD in a Blackberry/Nokia/Samsung smartphone and voila!
