Not sure if there's already a thread for this or if someone else has experienced this problem, but the issue that I'm having is that my nook won't power up fully (and remain on) unless it's plugged in. As soon as I remove it from the charger, it shuts down. Otherwise, it functions 100% on charger.
Any ideas how to fix it? Or is this the end for my beloved nook? I'd really love to not be tethered by the charger all the time.
It's an 8gb running CM11 Snapshot 8, if it could perhaps be a software issue, but I'm really not sure.

Maybe it´s just a dead battery.
you can buy online, and there´s a bunch of videos of how to replace. it´s a straightforward process.

Yeah, I saw a thread about it and I'm going to try that. Hopefully it does the trick.

Not sure if anyone else has used this, but i have found that with gtabcomb 3.3 i dont have the SoD issue when unplugging and pluggin in my charger. meaning that i can wake my gtab by plugging in the charger and then unplugging it. I leave my charger plugged in at my desk so im not sure how convenient this would be for someone else.
So far I have been able to completely circumvent SoD with this, so i was just wondering what other people think, and if this works for them. Like i said im using gtabcomb 3.3(not the refresh)so if anyone would like to try this with any other roms that would be cool too. thanks.

This is not a reliable solution--in fact, waking up when the charger is plugged could be considered a bug. A better solution would be to have HC ROMs wake up using the volume keys like it is possible with GB ROMs.
wouldnt call it a bug
i wouldnt call it a bug. all of my android phones do it, stock or not. my current mytouch 4g does it, completely stock. also samsung admire, lg optimus m stock or rooted/rommed. so it seems more like its meant to do it than a bug. what I am noting is that i dont have the sleep of death anymore because i do this.

Don't know about phones--they may behave differently, but, tablets shouldn't wake up when the charger is plugged in--why should they, right?
What I've noticed is that other custom ROMs don't usually do this and GtabComb 3.3bl1.1 does this only on occasion. There is no setting on any of the custom ROMs which says: wake up when charger is plugged in. I'm pretty sure that your tablet's behaviour is an unintented side-effect of some setting or the other, and so you really shouldn't rely on it.
what I am noting is that i dont have the sleep of death anymore because i do this.

Sure, use it if it fixes your SOD issues, but, this is not a standard solution.

Does your computer recognize the device? Do you see QHSUSB_DLOAD? If so, its possibly equipment failure

You might need to contact HTC.
Hopefully you didn't unlock your boot loader because that voids your warranty. If you did you would know you did its not something you do un-ententionaly. As for auto rotate it could be you accidentally turned it off on quick settings idk if thats on stock but it is on mine but i have a custom rom. As for your phone not turning on try it being plugged into the wall it never hurts to try it has happened to me before if not I would suggest skipping T-Mo and going directly to HTC for advice as they know their phones the best. In addition if they only have a sending it in solution then I would contact T-Mo and tell them your issue. Then you could most likely take it into a store and get a replacement no problem as it seems your phone is pretty new. The phone is pretty new not as new but it never rules out the possibility for a bug as even older well profound technology still has bugs that can cause a major system crash. Happens to me a lot when flying aircraft. Hope this helps.

About rotation i know about settings and was not that..
Hi,
I would like to disassemble the Nook and use it without the battery. I have seen some tear down tutorials and does not seem very complicated but before I could start I would like to know if anyone hastried it.
Of course the Nook would have to have a power source (well duh :cyclops but I was thinking that the power would be provided by the charger. (Power on with charger connected / power off once done)
What you guys think?
It's very possible since the Nook can be used while charging. I have several "battery powered“ devices that will now only work off the charger because they are so old, the battle is completely dead.

I believe Adam Outler (check developer section for some of his work) did this and had a video. There are instructions on the web about how to do this, it has been disassembled to recover mac address.
Good Luck

speaking as bench tech, get yourself a couple ( cheap ), electrolytic, 100 micro farad capacitors and hook them in parallel, across the input. !!! mind the polarity !!! it'll act as a resevour .

The problem is stock uboot I think, it'll probably lockup telling that battery is too low to powerup. Can't tell for sure.

maxim always makes the coolest stuff. and they've been doing it for many years. i think it's because the chip design engineers started ( own ) the company, so when the chip does good, the engineers get rich ! ! ! ( and the prima donna, marketing yahoos don't )
So my phone died.
Not by flashing. Not by rooting. Not by anything. I plugged it in on thursday with about 3% battery remaining, and next thing I know I am late for class because the phone died in middle of the night sometime. I was running a CM10.1 nightly. It was buttery smooth and honestly felt better for the phone than sense did. So I had no quarrel.
Now it wont boot, no LED, no capacitive buttons, no adb, no recognition, no nothing. I assume myself as a veteran of android and its capabilities (including how incredibly difficult one actually is to brick) and I have never seen something like this.
If your phone has done this, say so.
I want to hear stories and isolate the incident. If you have any ideas, share them.
Im a little ticked because I really liked this phone and its a ****ty way to have it go.
Stab in the dark but could it possibly be dead and your charger didn't charge it. Never heard of a situation like this and I've done some strange things to my phones. Possible or battery is so dead is why u can't power up. Try a different charger on it for a couple hours and try again.
Edit, when u have it plugged in to a charger does the led glow red ?

SOLVED: Phone refuses to power on
Its probably your charger

Not the charger. I've tried all cables in the house.
Some how your not getting juice I'd just keep it plugged into a different one for a couple hours. Is there any way it could have gotten wet? Sucks if its bricked

But have you tried another charger?
Cable does not equal charger.
You can't count on an aftermarket charger or cable either. I've seen strange things with stuff that didn't come with the phone.

I actually had the same thing happen to my Galaxy Note I. It just died completely one day when it was sitting on my desk with no previous issues. But it was already year old by that time.
I hope it works out. Since it's a new phone, at least you've got the warranty.
other people have posted about this issue in the international thread. but as far as i know after letting it charge a while they all came back on and they all said no charging light when plugged in
a lot of the people with this problem were also running cm10.1

Hi guys, I have a very big problem regarding to the battery. Sometimes it doesn't charge or maybe it's full charged but It drops from 100%, 50%, 20%, 5% and then die (in a few minutes). Somedays it works well but the average is not good. I tried several roms , full wipes and I changed the battery. I don't know what to do. Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance.
what firmware? that did before the problems started?
I believe your battery is damaged. Possibly from high temperatures. I recommend getting a replacement phone if you still qualify for the manufacturer's one year warranty.
thanks

Flying Jelly 3.01. But the issue is general. Sometimes I plug it in chager mode and shows 100% but when it boots drop to 50% (20, 5, so on) in a matter of seconds.

I already changed it so I think is not a battery issue. I'm trying to avoid send it back because I'm from Argentina and I bought it in China.
Another issue is when you connect it all the night but it doesnt charge. At the first I thought it was a software issue but right now I don't know what to test. I think the most weird is when sometimes works just fine. It's making me crazy...I dont know if send it back or set it on fire lol.
Thanks guys.

Hmm maybe there is something wrong with your actual charging port. Have you tried resetting your phone's software?
I think you should flash the stock. before flashing do wipe. in order to avoid the problem of software.
thanks

I did it several times. I don't know what is happening but since two days is working "fine". The last thing I tried It was die-hard battery script. A guy in another forum recommended me to use compressed air to clean out the ports because it may have a piece of debris that is causing a direct short therefore killing your battery.
Thanks guys.
