I have been using Youmail for a while now and am noticing that when I go to YouMail and refresh I will get no new messages. But if I restart my phone they all come in and I get the notification as I should.
Any thoughts?
Everything works fine after a reboot of the phone for a few hours and then just stops. Im wondering if youmail relies on something outside of its own app to run correctly. I could be autokilling something that is supposed to run.

Anyone? ... This is the smartest android community in the world, if you guys dont have an answer I will have to assume its not going to be fixed
I've never got it to work on custom roms. I go to settings --> call settings --> voicemail service and it always says "my carrier" in all the roms I've used. I'm not really sure, but I think it worked on the stock rom.
I'm coming from the sensation.. and so far, the Amaze has been great. The speeds are great and the build quality is second to none..
The only issues that are actually bugging me enough to mention have to do with two google apps. First, w/ google voice.. has anyone been able to successfully configure it to work as the default voice mail service? I can't seem to get it to switch over from the default phone voice mail service... any ideas?
Also, with google talk, I can't get the video chats to work. When I connect with a contact, it does the ringing thing and then goes to a black screen and people say they cannot see me. Again, any help?
Thanks in advance.
I don't use talk, but voice works fine for me. The auto setup won't work, but your call forwarding should already be set up as that is network specific on T-Mobile.
Could you specify what exactly google voice is not doing? "Not working" is pretty broad.
I am having the same problem. Seems to work for a while and then goes back to tmobiles VM. I recently manually forwarded the calls so I'll do some testing hopefully it will stick. I called tmobile andbthey said it was forwarded to my gv voicemail but calls were still sometimes going to tmobiles

True. So to be more specific, under the call settings, when I try to switch the "voicemail service" setting from "my carrier" to "google voice," I get an error message that says...
"Failed to retrieve and save current
forwarding number settings.
Do you want to switch to the new
provider anyway?"
Then when I select yes, it then says...
"Forwarding number change
unsuccessful.
Please contact your carrier if this
problem persists."
Has anyone else experienced this? This is the first device among g1, mytouch4g, mytouch4g slide, and sensation that was done this.
Thanks.

Me too. But my settings were maintained from my previous device.
Perhaps try going to a different device, go back to carrier settings, go back to Amaze then try changing your settings and see if that works. I've been meaning to give it a try but haven't had the time.

I had it all set up with my last Android device.
I upgraded to Amaze.
I couldn't use the voicemail provider because I had errors but my voicemail was still setup with GV.
Basically the only thing that the 'switch voice mail provider' does is change the call forwarding on your device. The error you're getting, I got as well, but my call forwarding settings were set up before I switched to my amaze. You have a few options.
The first is to go into your Google voice account on the web, and go into settings and then click Voice settings. you'll see your devices and next to them there's a link to activate. It will give you the codes to dial manually based on your carrier to set up call forwarding.
And as a last resort, if you have T-Mobile you can always call customer care and they can change your conditional call forwarding settings so that when the call meets a condition (no answer, out of area, busy) that it will forward to VM. I'd assume other carriers have similar abilities, but none that I can speak with any experience.
Thanks for all the help, everyone. I think I got it figured out.
Now how about the Google talk video chat issues.. anyone else having issues with it?
Google Talk video chat not working for me either. Pretty annoying after paying a lot of money for this phone.
I had to sign out of Google voice on my old device first. Then setup Google voice on the amaze, and this got rid of the error for me.
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda premium
same issue
Signing out of voice on my old device won't work becase it was stolen. Are there any other work arounds?
Same here gchat is not working for me. Its sucks
Google video chat is like face time for tmobile it won't allow you to see anything unless your over WiFi

After wiping and installing MeanROM at multiple levels, I am still having issues making and receiving phone calls. I do have my Google Voice number linked via Sprint if that may be causing some headache, I don't know. I like Mean but I have to be able to use my phone...any ideas?

i had the same issues when i first got my EVOLTE best bet is to go to the actual voice website disable it all and then re set it up with your new rom just to make sure nothing is interfering with your calls
Hi. I'm running CM 10.1-20130117 nightly on my Fascinate. For the most part it works great as a daily driver. The only major issue I have is I don't get voicemail notification.
It acts as if it only checks for voicemail once when it powers on.
If I have voicemail when I reboot the phone, I get the notification, and it stays on even after the message is cleared. If I reboot the phone again the notification goes away, but doesn't come back on if I receive new voicemail.
I've had this issue across multiple nightly builds. Other notifications such as email and text work correctly.
In settings, I've tried selecting and deselecting message wait indicator. Service is set to My Carrier, and voicemail number is *86. I haven't loaded any voicemail apps, and I've also cleared out all voice messages.
Can someone help me out?
This is a common issue for 4.2.2 ROMs on older Android phones. There is no known fix and I have experienced it on both a Droid Incredible and Samsung Fascinate on Page Plus (a Verizon MVNO).

Maybe you should install a voicemail app... I wouldn't go with verizon's visual voicemail since you gotta pay a monthly fee to access your messages. Go with Google Voice. It's free, easy to set up, allows access from the app/web, works with messages same as you would with emails, transcribes recordings... did i mention its free? Went with google voice a long time ago n never looked back... verizon's a joke.
I know it's an old post, but AOKP worked for me for the VM notification.
Part with the questions:
I am attempting to get the the stock HTC Visual Voicemail app for AT&T working on the international ROM, and I am running into an odd issue that I was hoping someone might be able to help me with. I have managed to get the app (mostly) working. The icon shows up, and the VVM app is accessible through messages and the phone apps.
What doesn't work, is that you cannot check for new voicemails while on wireless. It will give the following error:
"No mobile data connection detected. Visual Voicemail does not work on a Wi-Fi connection. Turn mobile data on or call Voicemail for new messages."
I have mobile data on, and everything will work fine when not connected to wireless. Has anyone else had this problem when importing those apps? If so, how did you overcome it?
Continued reading:
While I am aware that there are a couple of ROMs out there that have this working, I am more interested in learning how to do this than just using somebody else's work. Plus, I believe the other ROMs were based on the dev edition (though I could be wrong about that).
This is an intellectual exercise for me, and my curiosity has gotten the better of me on this one.
I would really appreciate any help that can be given!

P.S. To be clear, I am just trying to solve this problem for fun. Once I've finished, I will probably go to Google Voice for my visual voicemail needs. I am not interested in alternative solutions. I have already figured out that the playstore version can be installed from the apk, as well as some other options.
