Hi Everyone,
Not sure if this is the right place (did not find a specific ZTE tablet forum - but i guess all the chinese tablets are pretty much the same).
I recently got this device, It's pretty nice, not strong or anything (like the nexus 7 i initially wanted) but it was given to me for free.
My only problem with the device is the operating system version, android 4.2, I have also nexus 4 device and going back to 4.2 feels a bit how to say, laggy, old fashioned.
Can someone guide me please / link and also explain if it's possible somehow to get this tablet to android 4.4 or even 4.3.
Thanks you very much,
Anyone knows maybe? even a general answer not only to the zte tablet, regarding the chinese tablets and firmwares.

I am hacking this same tablet right now. ZTE is just a clone brand. Really, it is a Rockchip rk3188 processor, and some GPU. I hope this helps you find the right ROM. The bootloader is already unlocked, so that's not going to be a problem. Download this to identify your HW further:

Best of luck!

I have an Arnova 10 G2. On the back it says 101c (first 10 in big size letters, followed by 1c in small size letters).
Could anyone please let me know if this is a Gen 8 or Gen 9 device.
Hey diablo009!
Why don't you have look at their website:
http://arnovatech.com/
Especially the contact data:
http://arnovatech.com/corporate/contact_us.html?country=ua&lang=en
If i got it right Arnova is the budget series of Archos.
In fact these devices look like Archos tablets but i guess they have different electronics inside (Asian low cost SoC's based on Cortex-A8).
EDIT:
I just had a short look into the firmware update file for Arnova 10 G2 and it seems they are using a RK29xx SoC on the mainboard.
These are low-budget ARM SoC's built by a chinese manufacturer:
http://www.rock-chips.com/index.php?do=prodnew
Unfortunately these chips are not very well documented.
There's another forum where you might find some help:
http://www.slatedroid.com/
There are G1 and G2 devices... AFAIK this has nothing in common with the G8 or G9 series distributed by Archos.
EDIT:
Around the globe you may find even devices like these mentioned here:

Thanks scholbert. I should've made some research before buying this. But one good thing is that my core intention was as a 10" book reader. So that part is good.
I went in their site a few times, but couldn't really make out. I'll try looking more tonight.
Edit: One positive thing it that there was this app called "arctools" that I could use to flash the rooted version of stock rom. Atleast something, better than being stuck with nothing.
pretty sure arnova is Gen 8 based, but I think it may run gingerbread instead of froyo. I don't tthink the arnova series for Gen 9 has been released.

Please read my post... these devices use different hardware inside.
We should be careful not to confuse people again and mix everything up.
Trust me, i looked into the firmware update file (update.img) from their website.
Completely different low level-structure and content compared to the gen8/9 AOS files.

It was not my intent to imply that the hardware was the same, merely to point out that this was released during the gen 8 releases and not gen 9. I would refer the original poster here for more info on their device .

I bought Maxsun M81 Tablet Pc from ownta.com in 2012. Sweet device but no google market and awful, slow performance.
I have been searching for 2-3 months but no custom or new official rom. Finally I found that Maxsun M81 and Teclast P85a is absolutely same device like a twins.
And I tried Oma's "RK2918 Tab Odys-Loox rocks with ICS". Wovvvvv my tablet shines. Now I have only some screen rotation problem. The other all things including wi-fi, camera, etc are working well without problems. Finally I have google market. I dont know why but now screen contrast and color depth are better. BTW tablet performance is considerable increased. I will try other Teclast P85a compitable roms. And I will write results here. Maybe it may be help other Maxsun M81 owners.
Thanks.
Hello from Greece,
I am an owner of a maxsun m81 tablet. First of all, thank you for your info... it will be really helpfull. But there are some things i would like to ask you. Have you triyed any rom over 4.0.4? Have you found any site/link of the manufactor? I m triying to find anything "official" but there is no such thing... something else, did you have problems with your wifi connection? Mine is falling all the time. Something else i would like to tell you is that here in greece this model is under brand name (turbo x spice iii) and there is no way to get any update/upgrate from the company that sells it as that....... i would like to have an official update from maxsun but i am afraid thats a dream....
So I just got this tablet as a cheap add on to my phone contract with EE in the UK. I've searched the internet and the XDA forums and can't find a specific place where any developers working on ROMs in the same way I have had with all of my Samsung phones in the past.
Is there any hope for something like linage 14.1 or just a stock 6.0 or 7.0 ROM for this tablet with TWRP?
I can see that it has a Snapdragon 615. Is there something about this that's hard to develop for or is it just that not many people have the tablet?
Any respone would be helpful. Thanks!
I join in here. Same situation for me.
I have a Vertu Aster P Chinese clone, purchased from here https://www.luxuryvertu.cn/ProID473.html and since buying it, I've been desperate to try and update it from the Vertu-themed Android 6.0 Marshmallow that it came with.
They lie about the phone specs on their site that I got it from. It doesn't run Android 8.0 and it doesn't have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC .The genuine Vertu Aster P runs on Android 9.0 Pie, which is what this clone should have really come with, being a late 2019 phone and to stay true to the genuine Vertu. Trouble is, being a Chinese replica, and having an MTK SoC, there is no support for it. The manufacturers refuse to provide me with the kernel source code, so I'm at a dead end in terms of any Android development.
One thing I did notice is that the 'Device Info' app shows the device as being a 'gionee6755_66_m'. See the second attachment that I've uploaded. Does this mean anything to anyone? Is it the model of a specific Gionee handset? Could this be a clue as to what the Chinese clone makers based this phone off? If so, I do know of a few threads here and there on XDA related to Gionee development.
Also, in the third screenshot attachment that I've uploaded, you can see that the icons for data connection and aeroplane mode are rubbing up against each other, suggesting that someone has made a 'quick and dirty' fix to try and get both of the icons to fit the width of this phone's screen. Which also might suggest that this ROM was actually pulled from another device. Any thoughts?
Chris

Note that you on every Android device can fake its brand and/or model: you can even make it think to be an Apple iPhone 11 Pro. You also can fake its version of Android OS. What you can't (easily) change are descriptions of installed hardware components .
So one can't really say your device is a Vertu Aster P or Gionee6755_66_m or whatever.
What I think happened is that you got screwed.

I wasn't 'screwed' as such. That's a bit of a crass term. The device is of premium quality, feels as heavy as a genuine Vertu and really does look the part. And it performs perfectly fine on Android 6.0. The phone is fast and responsive and does whatever I need it to do.
That said, it wouldn't have caused them any more distress in putting Android 9.0 onto this phone. The MT6755 Helio P10 chipset that this clone has is more than capable of running 9.0. Why they didn't is a mystery to me.
Hi,
I own the Teclast P10HD https://www.teclast.com/en/zt/P10HD/
I want to root it, and if possible install Android 10, I have searched the forums but found nothing about it (There's a thread about the older P10 which has different hardware).
Any help is highly appreciated.
I've been trying to root the device but traditional methods don't work as the boot partition can't be unlocked, also the key method used for other devices made by the same chipset manufacturer doesn't work either. There's a flashing tool provided by the manufacturer but it only works on Windows and I don't own a copy so I couldn't try it. Let's hope someone is able to unlock the device as the hardware is pretty decent
This device has something odd.
Antutu reports the same speed of a mate pad t8 and many other tablets, but it's not very responsive.
I think android is not very optimized for this unisoc, what do you think?
It get much nicer with poco launcher and mi camera but still it looks a bit slow for a 2020 device

you need to bear in mind that it has only 3 GB RAM, which is not ideal for a 2020 android device. I use it mainly for internet relating activities and social network apps. I installed some lite games and they work fine. Given its extremely low price, its value is good.
Did you manage to find any custom ROM that works on it?

The mate pad has 2gb so that's not the question.
The p10hd can run everything, it gives no problems but generally speaking it is not that fluid.
I know Huawei or xiaomi can probably add some optimizations here and there, maybe a version 10 of android and a teclast custom launcher could help it. Let's see if they prefer to launch new devices or are now working on those they already produce to experiment a bit.
However, unisoc is pretty good, now that chromeos is getting lighter, it would be nice to see it on this soc

Sorry but I didn't get this line. What is Unisoc? and what does chromium have to do with it?
By the way, does Teclast usually upgrade the software or are we gonna stuck to what we got?

No idea on teclast upgrade policies but I guess we're OK considering that m16 is still on android 8.
Unisoc is the cpu soc brand. It's quite cheap but not bad at all, I was only guessing how chromeos would run on it. Chromeos includes android and Linux apps, it's going to be an os we will find very often in the next years. I would try a color e-ink too in it, to make cheap long-lasting edu tools available to a huge lot of people: add the embedded 4g/5g connection support and you get wherever you want
