Hi guys...
I bought Xperia Z Ultra just couple of days back. I was excited about having it but the party was ruined when.I realised that it has Calibration problem. (Bought without Warranty)
See if some of you guys has the same problem and can suggest some fix:-
1- Dialing the wrong number from Call Logs.
2- Sometimes the keyboard goes crazy while Drafting email and start typing multiple alphabets I.e. eeee /dddd / ooooo etc.
3- Lag in registering Touch especially on Phone dialing.
Kindly help me with the solution if you have or had the same issue
Regards
Afridi

Which firmware are you on? Had lag with touchscreen. So you should look if you can update your phone.
Also go on Settings/About/test device. There you can test everything on your phone and see what go wrong.

I am latest firmware 14.1.B.1.510. Recently updated.
I tested the device as you said and it seems fine there... But the problem is still bothering me and making my phone almost unusable.
It seems pure display calibration problem

Really annoying as there is no calibration setting on the phone. Tried a factory reset? Updated from Pc Companion or with flashtool?

If anyone had HTC One X, holding onto the Back button instead of tapping would kill/close the app currently open at least as of 4.1, however on the Z2 holding onto the Back button doesn't do anything
And the Task killers/App closers on play store I've found on don't really work, even the "Close All" doesn't completely close the apps, only Force Stop when you go into settings of individual apps. Which is really silly because the Z2 packs 3GBs of ram, sometimes you find it's down to about 1GB free
Is this just something that'll be addressed by the modding scene once we can strip out all the shovel bloatware? And yes I have the TW D6053 Z2

To close an app press the back button to leave or hit home to go home
Press the recents key and swipe it off the list, it will now be closed and kept in the ram for a tiny bit and removed if you don't open the app again
The force stop in the settings is normal, you can still hit the button if an app is stopped already
Ram is not an issue, ignore it, Linux will automatically clear out ram if needed, most of it is usually cached files anyway
Bloatware can cause these issues but you can disable these bloatware apps from the settings , you can uninstall with root

Press to the right of the home button and then select close all.

Assuming you rooted and unlocked your phone, did you have trouble updating to 17.1.A.2.55?
It says Could not verify and I get the feeling I have to relock bootloader just to update it, do I need anything else? I'm redownloading flashtools right now
i am rooted and unlocked
with a unlocked bootloader you cant use Sony PC companion
i use flashtool and any avaliable FTFs to update
i had no verify issues

Ah, there's no FTF out for the TW Z2s yet, I try to relock my bootloader through flashtool but the phone won't start, I guess I can't update to 17.1.A.2.55 yet
Holding back on the one x wasn't enabled by default, it was an option in the developers settings, which was taken out in a later build. It's certainly not on mine any more anyway yet I did have it at some point. I don't think it's really needed on the later android builds to be honest. App handling has become a lot better

Bit odd to find an One X user in a Z2 forum haha, I think I stopped updating around early 2013 because mike's Android Revolution HD stopped updating, it was something like android 4.0 but nonetheless, I guess i'll just either wait for a mod or something, there's still some apps that won't close on their own on the Z2

Hello
I rooted my Sony xperia Z ultra (c6833) a couple of weeks ago, I now have a problem with my wallpaper?
My wallpaper keeps reloading when I push the home button! Has anyone experienced something similar to this? If so, please help!
Thanks

That's probably launcher redrawing, and I've noticed it happening a couple of time on mine too. It's pretty much Android that kills the launcher at one point, which it shouldn't do, so I guess Sony will have to up the priority of the launcher in an update.
I believe I read a post somewhere here that mentioned a way to temporarily fix this issue, but I'm not sure if it was @hamdogg or @blueether

Wasn't me so you will have to blame @hamdogg
Yeah I always blame my dog too...
There is a way using build.prop to keep the launcher in memory, but with android 4.*.* it is anyway so that won't help. You could try it, but theoretically it shouldn't help.
Add the following line into your build.prop file:
ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=1
Could the problem be fixed if I were to unroot, or wipe and reset my device?
I have attached a picture of the wallpaper issue (the black line down the lefthand side)
Thanks

That's not even close to what i thought the problem was. Have you updated to the newest Album version (which was released yesterday)? Also, try using QuickPic or something to set your wallpaper. Lastly, go to Settings -> Apps -> Home -> Clear Cache and data (this will clear all homescreen widgets, app sorting etc.)

woah... yeah thats not what I thought you meant either.
Umm... never seen that before.
I guess flashing the FTF again and then rooting. Then test drive it a few hours before installing apps.
My guess its an app or something thats doing that. Shouldn't happen. Never seen it before...
(Oh actually.. on my custom ROM it did that. But that was when i was mashing two basebands together to get the best of both worlds. my own frankinstein so to speak. ran like a dogg to... )

I'm fine, thank you! You haven't really missed that much around here. Things are running as usual, and the latest "hot new thing" is of course 757 and Doomlord's kernel. I also read 20 minutes ago that a new ZU firmware (761) is certified, so we're probably getting yet another bugfixer soon.

You could make the "OOM" (out of memory) higher. Several root apps give the opportunity to do this. You could also add an exception for the launcher in one of those apps.

Yeah, I'm doing OK, work has slowed down, but still busy enough. As LordManhattan said you haven't missed too much except 757 and doomlords kernel for Stock roms. I've just ported @Androguide.fr's pimped kernel, and if it's stable today I'll probably post it publicly tonight - only had one reboot when playing with cpu governers and off line cores.

Not seen anything like that except when I badly deodexed the 290 firmware
I have managed to rectify the issue. The problem resolved itself after deleting a wallpaper app.
Thanks for the help

Hey guys. Just a quick one!
I find the lag almost non existent. But hitting the home button you can see it lag. And it shouldn't with all these specs.
There's a few other bits that lag as well, especially if you have the live wallpaper on. Sigh :/
Anyone else have any lag problem?

My home button doesn't lag but I do get the occasional lag on some apps. This is due to the android software.
I own a rooted C6802 with unlocked bootloader.
I am looking for a screen unlocker app in which screen can be unlocked without using the power or volume buttons.
I tried a few apps which use proximity sensor or mic ..... but they fail to unlock the screen. They lock the screen alright though!
Any one know of such app?

Hello musebox,
Are you still using this with success?
I have been testing it for a couple weeks now, and have noticed it uses much battery.
Are you having similar experience?
Would you mind sharing your configuration?

I had the same experience a while ago. It drains the battery as the sensor is on all the time
Thanks for the reply SÜPERUSER.
This app would be much useful if it used less battery! It’s the only on screen app that is working with my Xperia Z Ultra.
Hi, I didn't notice either way at the time, so I don't think much battery was used. However, I've been using my nexus 6 more often lately.
