Okay so earlier today I was eating lunch and I managed to spill water on my phone. I immediately went and dried it out and then turned it back on. Everything appeared to be working except the sound. I had the Xperia Z1, so I knew you had to wait a little before the sound would return back to normal out the speaker port, so I waited but it still wasn't working. Upon further investigation, I discovered that it would play my ringtone(a song from my SD Card), notification tone and the noise it makes when you adjust the volume using the buttons but it would not play my music through the music player app at all. It also wouldn't play sound out of the earpiece so I could only hear the only person if my phone was on speaker. The speaker is back to it's normal sound now but it still won't play music, things through youtube or pandora and my earpiece still isn't working. Is this a software issue or is it a hardware thing? It's very strange. I'm using XtreStoLite right now and I'm downloading a stock rooted rom and I'm gonna flash it to see if that changes anything, but has anyone else ever experienced anything like this? What would my options be as far as fixing the problem? Thanks in advanced for all your answers, and also, the water damaged sticker is still pearly white so I don't think it's water damaged. I already tried reseting, taking my battery out and factory reseting as well.

Wowza, what a wall of text. Paragraphs please, as that is too hard to read all the way through.
One possibility is moisture or dried crud in the headphone or USB jacks leading the phone to think that a headset is connected. Hardware damage seems a lot less likely.
Or it could be an unrelated and coincidental software issue. Do you have a known good backup that you could try restoring?

Hey people
Woke up this morning and im not getting any audio at all from my external speaker. Not even bootup sound. Headphones and call speaker work fine
I'm running H3
GG
Make sure that it isn't in Silent mode, if it isn't then sad to say that your external speaker is gone. Service Center will be the only option.

Sometimes I need to "twist" the plug to find right position for it.
External speaker i mean the rear speaker on the phone that normally makes all the non call noises. Anyone experience this?

I'm currently having this problem as well. I'm on the latest checkROM, and I have tried 3 different kernels, thinking that was the issue, but it's still happening.
My sounds are playing through the phone speaker, and not the loudspeaker.
If I reboot the phone, the problem goes away for a while, but it eventually returns.
This has caused me to miss critical notifications and alarms, and I'm tearing my hair out trying to figure out what the heck is causing it.
Do I have to reflash the phone?
Any advice on this would be appreciated.
Sorry for the double post, but has anyone else experienced this?
Can anyone suggest a fix?
Go back to stock to rule a hardware issue in or out, I.E. if you still have the same problem on stock it's obviously a hardware problem and if you only seem to have the problem with your current rom/kernel the problem lies there.
If it does have the same problem on stock, factory reset & jig it to wipe the flash counter & hand it in for warranty service/replacement.
Hi all,
I am having the weirdest problem here and need some advice. Tried the search function but came up empty, although it seems by googling that other people have faced it. Problem is that none of the following helped.
Out of the blue my phone thinks that the handsfree jack is used at all times.
So, when i actually use the handsfree all is ok.
When i unplug it i still get the headphones icon on the notification bar and every sound except ringtones is routed to the headphones jack so i have no sound at all.
Tried:
Flashed stock rom, other developers roms, and every piece of kernel i could get my hands on. Of course in the process i did the proper wipes from the cwm menu.
Factory reset.
Sound test through the *#*#0673# menu.
Plugged - unplugged the headphones like 100 times.
Cleaned the headphones hole with cotton bud.
Applied force to the walls of the headphones hole with the jack plugged in.
Took it to a tech friend of mine who took the whole thing apart and tested almost every piece of hardware to his personal handset..everything works as it should.
For now the plan is to keep pluging unplugging the handsfree till it works. I will do that because one time it actually played music from the speaker for a couple of seconds... Unfortunately it then started using the headphones again.
I could really use some help here from the gurus PLEASE.
Thanks in advance
Alex

I would have to guess it's a hardware problem... although you have tested everything, still, I'd have to vote for sending it in for service

Well, thats my next conclution. It has to be the main board which is the only one we couldnt test...i just dont want to go there yet as it means that i have to sell it for spare parts.
As for sammys service i cant really go anywhere near them after what i have put my phone through
Hello, my problem is that my sound output *breaks* or whatever, after random time of playing music through headphones or speakers connected to the aux.
Sometimes i can play music for 5minutes, sometimes 20min etc, before it breaks.
Sometimes the sound will start sounding disorted and crappy and then sometimes its a beeping sound, if i plug out aux the music plays fine and if i plug aux in again there is no sound at all or there is beeping/hissing. (sometimes it just go silent)
After this happens i normally cannot get sound from aux for several minutes sometimes even longer, but after awhile it works again, but not for long.
I recently bought a new antenna module (with the aux) and replaced it and i thought my problem was fixed, i played music for long time for 3-5 days, but now the problem is back again.
I have searched alot but i cant find anyone with same problem or any solution to it, guess ill have to get it repaired somehow, i just dont understand what is causing this, its clearly not the aux itself since i just replaced it with a brand new.
I have tried to increase and decrease the volume with stweaks, but no matter how loud or low it is, this happens.
However i do think its hapapening sooner or only happening when the musicplayer volume is above 10 (even if that will be low when i modify the amplifier in stweaks)
Any suggestions?
Here is a link to a mp3 i recorded to show the issue
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/86952153/aux%20jack%20issue.mp3
(sorry for bad quality but u hear the issue)
I start with phone speakers, then plug aux in and after silence i plug out and in again.
Bumping it once in hopes of answers

I´ve already tried that several times, still same issue.
Gonna send it to repair now and see wich parts they switch out, and see if problem gets fixed.

I forgot to update this, i sent it for repairs 3 times and only first time did they change the antenna module with the aux input.
The 2 other times they could not reproduce the problem, but it was there every time i got it back.
So i managed to cancle the whole purchase after some fighting with the store i bought it from.
If u are as ulucky as me the repair center wont find the problem when they test it, but if they do find it they can maby fix it.
Another thing to point out is that while the aux would have this problem, there was no problem when i played through micro usb with the ibolt docking cable.
So my Z2 tablet arrived today through the mail, and I'm already getting disappointed. To being with, the speakers lower volume by themselves, without reducing the actual system volume. I noticed that is only for music, be it on Walkman, Spotify or YouTube. It starts with regular volume and then it changes by itself gradually, and I have to reset volume or turn the tablet around so it can come back to its regular state, but just for a minute before audio goes down again. I also noticed sometimes a little grain noise on the right side speaker, although I read at some places this is due to the waterproof seal, need confirming on this though. Also, I got it today, didn't do anything to it and it's already kind of bent. The package came factory sealed, so I'm assuming it bent on my hands. Really? That easy? Anyways, do you guys know a solution to this speaker problem? It doesn't seem to be a hardware condition, since regular videos works fine. Is the software doing some sort of bull**** and altering the volume? Thanks in advance.
Send it back. If possible for full refund. Then buy again from elsewhere.
Greetings.
Just bought the Z5C. Phone is awesome, but when I play anything over the speakers (incoming call, music, etc.) the volume is good for about a second, and then it turns very silent.
Anyone experienced this, or knows something about the issue?

Hey! I had this same issue for the first day that I had the phone. It was driving me crazy. What drives me even more crazy is I don't what I did to fix it. I am not entirely sure, but I noticed a difference after pairing the Z5C to a bluetooth speaker for about 30 minutes. When I unpaired and went back to the speakers on the phone they were substantially better. Hope this helps...

I was trying different things on my phone and decided to factory reset it. After it rebooted the same problem is back. Low volume for second, then super quiet. I tried replicating the same process I thought somehow fixed the issue before and it didn't help. I've tried messing with all the audio settings, toggles here and there but nothing seems to fix it. I wonder what this might be and why the phone all of a sudden started working like it should last time. Any help would be much appreciated.
Hi, I had the same problem with lower sound from speakers after 30 seconds. After disabling "STAMINA" the speakers are very loud. And if you put "Audio settings" to "standby aktive" you could even activate "STAMINA" without speaker loudness problems
Yeah happened to me yesterday as I was listening to the Radio app while on a walk. Went from relatively loud to super low quiet. I thought maybe I pocket bumped the volume or something.
Same problem. In my case, I noticed audio almost stops from one of the speakers (sometimes the top one, sometimes the bottom one, wich indicates it may not be a hardware issue). Happens on games, music, videos, or calls with the speaker on. Seems to be random.
searching for this problem (this is also happening to me (mostly top speaker while i playing and mostly games
is only one speaker(top) for me not 2 speakers
(maybe the heat? if im not the only one is hardware or software? ) it was at 5.1.1 so updated to 6.0 still the same.. maybe speaker wont working well while heated? tried to shake the device thought maybe something loose connection inside
