Hey guys,
I've been searching for good cheap phone that could last me a whole year. From what I see from ROM threads and YouTube, this device is still pretty active and also is capable of gaming pretty much most of the hardcore game titles like MC5. I don't like the Moto G very much because of its looks and display and camera and pretty much alot of stuff.
Since all of you here are Galaxy SII users, I have a question, is the phone still worth to buy? Is it still good and is this your daily driver? Thank you so much

If you really into hardcore gaming, then go for Moto G (adreno 305) it'll give you a little more fps to play games smoothly. MC5 runs at 30fps on my S2 with occasional dips to 19fps @ high settings. Apart from this , it still holds great potentional to run almost any app you throw at it. Really awesome.
What about the Galaxy SII HD LTE? Specifically the E110S. I know the screen is very low res but is the Snapdragon S3 and Adreno 225 chips capable or better than the Int SII? The phone is okay but the ROM development there is so little. I don't think theres alot of ROM for the E110S too.

The s2 is still a great phone which can handle pretty much all the new games at a decent playable frame rate, especially with a good custom kernel that lets you overclock both the CPU and GPU.
If you're on a budget, then it's one of the cheapest and most capable phones there is. Worth buying IMO.

Have you had good or bad experience here? Can you share with us some? Thanks
CM11 Powered G-Wonder
I'm running an s2 with latest cm11 nightly, and dorimanx v10 kernel.
I've given it just a little overclocking, CPU Max clock to 1400Mhz, GPU Max clock to 400Mhz, and a few other little tweaks here and there with the stweaks app which controls the dorimanx kernel. (SD read-ahead etc)
I was actually playing Modern Combat 5 there when I got the notification for your post, and it was playing very well.
If you want bang for buck, I doubt there's another phone that can be picked up so cheaply that can run the latest games so well. The s2 is still a very capable phone for gaming, and I've had nothing but good experiences with mine. Not got anything bad to say about it really..

Thats super awesome! But 1 more qn, is the RAM enough for all this? 700+ mb of RAM is still kind of in the "low" side in my mind. I heard tons of people wanting to have more RAM than a better CPU for some reasons? OH, and the battery life..
Sent from my S800 China Phone
A gig these days is starting to get on the low side compared to some of the new devices, but it's never actually caused me a problem yet.
Just use greenify to hibernate apps which aren't in use, and 1 gig is enough.
Battery. It may be worth buying a new battery if you're going to use an s2. If the battery is 2 years old then it's probably not up to its best. But I'm using the one that came with my s2 and my battery life seems pretty decent. I'd probably be getting a little more with a new battery though.

Well then a Galaxy will be my next phone. I was thinking if an Xperia V or Galaxy Note but since i prefer Super Amoled screens and good perfomance, Galaxy SII is my choice. Afterall, in Singapore, a Galaxy SII secondhand costs just 90-110 EUR.

I do like the xperia phones, but the only ones I'd want to own are the Z series.
For the price you can pick them up for, I don't think you can beat an S2, especially with a little overclock.

Just abit off topic here. IMO, Xperia Z series has terrible displays. My sis owns a Xperia Z and its colours are so unsaturated. I think they fixed this with the Z2 didn't they?

Hello Guys ,
I am planning on buying Samsung Galaxy Ace. I want to make sure whether it is true that Galaxy Ace has the same processor that LG Optimus One P500 has , but it's just overclocked in case of Ace ?
Not overclocked buts its the turbo version, thats by default 800mhz

Are you sure ? and if Yes, is it possible to overclock Ace's processor in the future ?
check pdadb.net's database, the processor of ace is speciafically turbo version with 800mhz as default.
i think we could overclock it if custom os kernel is out, which russell is working on
dont knw about about processor... but my cousin has lg 500 and my bro galaxy ace... and they both agree wid me galaxy ace is far more smoother and better than lg 500... and a medium sized screen is just a charm...
Has your cousin flashed his LGO1 with any custom ROM ? I have heard that "Megatron ROM" for LGO1 makes it perform much better than how it performs when it's stuck with its stock ROM and enables it to handle/run much resource consuming games and apps !!
Well, I, personally haven't used it nor have seen somebody using it

hi bot9011,
custom roms for Samsung galaxy ace are undr development (ie. Darky rom, villain rom and Cyanogen). As of now we have a light weight Villain ROM, and believe me it is very responsive. So if you think about the future when Overclock kernels are built, it can be overclocked to 1GHz! With all these top class ROM and a better hardware, this phone has got the punch.
LG P500 has been around for a year now and the development has evolved pretty well, and in the current scenario new phones are rolling out at an alarmingly fast rate, so it would be disastrous if you buy old phones. You will repent later, believe me...
With all these said the decision is yours to make.
And congrats in advance on your new ANDROID!

If your concern is to have current hardware this is not a good device for that being it uses an arm11 processor. I have not seen anything to indicate this chipset is any different than the standard msm7227 but with an increase in clock speed and most likely voltage too.
As far as the optimus is concerned the additional ram is far more valuable than the extra clock speed in my opinion. Not to mention that the optimus is far more prevalent which is the reason the developer backing is much better.
I'm interested to see if there is any hardware differences and what kind of oc clock speeds you guys achieve.
Thanks a lot for the reply!
Well if you are saying that LG O1 has obsolete hardware and Galaxy Ace is any day better than it, I would like to say that you're pretty wrong !
Both the phones sport the same processor , that is , ARM11 V6 and most of the upcoming updates will be for the phones equipped with V7 and v7+ processors (That's what a senior member on this website, named silvertooth ,told me )
And Yeah, it is true that Ace's processor is said to be in turbo mode so that it can tick at 800Mhz without any issues! But I don't think it is possible to further overclock Ace's processor and even if somebody managed to do it, the phone's battery wouldn't even last for a day
On the other hand it's quite easy to overclock LG O1's processor to an extent of 750Mhz without adversely affecting it's battery backup! It has even got 512MB of RAM !!
The main disadvantage of LGO1 is , it's screen is a dust magnet! Dust easily gets accumulated under it's screen and as far as I know, LG hasn't rectified the problem yet Otherwise I believe it's a pretty good phone that you can get for 10K INR!
Waddya guys say ?

Dude,
If u have an issue with budget get the LG phone, if not, get the ace i am not biasing you. All I feel is, (note:I have seen the LG P500) ace has better looks than LG P500, and I personally like good looking phones and also the 5 MP camera with the LED flash is way better than the LG camera(I like taking good photos and good videos 640x480). the 3.5" screen is pretty good for video playback and I prefer touch buttons than the HW button for the back and menu functionalities.
All these are my personal views.
Goodluck on your buy!
Flash Player
hi, guys! is it true that our ace will have soon flash player?!
Qualcomm’s 800MHz MSM7x27™ mobile processor will be the first to enable Flash Player for the mass market segment of smartphones, allowing handset manufacturers to offer richer Web-based multimedia and graphics experiences for casual games, applications, videos and other Flash-based content.

This is my fifth prime bought the first when it was first released and bought and sold a few more since then I picked one up a few days ago for a crazy price i am now running virtuous prime and performance mode at 1.8 ghz and my galaxy note is still much faster with everything i don't understand this, i think the prime is the best 10 inch tablet i guess i just thought it would be faster when overclocked with a custom rom
for starters wrong section, should've been in QnA section. Second, you could've just posted that in one of the many existing complaint threads.
Not complaining just wondering why and how to make the prime faster

if you running a custom rom and overclocked it should easily run faster than what you claim. you must not of did something right. I'm stock, rooted, and overclocked n my prime runs circles around my Ipad n phone.
try a different rom and make sure its flashed correctly. virtuous is more of a stock base rom built for stability. you want performance, use AOKP or WSG rom or maybe even new gummy one. lots of different roms to try out. even still, virtuous overclocked should be running great.
OK thanks I will try another room btw my note is rooted running rocket rom lpy so it is not not stock, but it is faster then my current set up on my prime but i will take your advice and try another room thanks
Also remember that different chip setups use different speed tweaks. Are you running a third-party launcher? Any monitoring apps? What kind of widgets? What background services are running? I had virtuous with OC and it was great, but I changed to AOKP with OC and is much faster running the same apps.

Im runnin a custom ICS Rom on my Galaxy S2...Its overclocked at 1.5...And its pretty damn close side by side when I bring up stuff...I too am runnin the Gummy on performance 1.8...But its fast enuff for me...
And I just luv the view of a 10.1 compared to my 4.6 screen on the Epic 4 Touch...
why is my honda civic faster than a 18 wheeler? the 18 wheeler has a much larger engine and a lot more power!
The prime easialy outpowers the note however other things have to come into consideration: What kernel / rom is running on both devices, what device specific optimizations have been made for the specific hardware. What different chipsets, GPU's, screen resolutions, animations, versions of android, etc are there?
There are so many problems with this thread i dont even know where to start. As far as tablets go, the prime has the best HARDWARE. This does not mean, by default, the software will run faster. The same way that 18 wheeler has a much larger and more powerfull engine does not mean it will go faster than my honda civic with its 4 cylinder engine.
My suggestion is go on google and do some research on how android actually works. Learn about the hardware you complain about and maybe you might learn your answer for yourself.
Both are running ics 4.0.3. Both are running adw ex launcher and the same apps don't get me wrong the prime is great I am just surprised that my note loads webpages twice as fast on the same wifi network even on demand at 1400 MHz on the note vs 1800mhz performance on the prime - anyway I was just curious no big deal
lol im not surprised, wifi on the tablet sucks. try loading up some graphic intense games and see which has the fastest loading times. Its no secret the primes wifi sucks try a test that compares other things like the GPU or CPU.
And even if both devices have android 4.0.3 unless its stock google 4.0.3 they have been tweaked in one way or another. load AOSP on each and give er another shot.
just loaded up the gummy v1.2.3 and now it is as about as fast as my note on the internet - of course the prime has more power and gpu but i was more concerned with everyday apps like internet, etc. i currently dont play any games on the prime
i think i wil put an aosp rom on the note and see how it compares - thanks to everyone for their advice
btw i picked up this prime to test out the unlocked bootloader / customs roms, it was pretty scratched up when i bought it used but i put on a zagg screen protector and it covers up all the scratches on the screen and then i bought a nice leather case as well not bad for $100 total !!
The only area that users of iDevices can really say their devices are undeniably better is gaming. We all know that, and until recently I have to admit I was kinda jealous.I was almost ready to buy an iPad just to play Infinity Blade.Happily I didn't as things are getting better.
Up until recently, the best-looking and closest to console quality games were Dead Space and Asphalt 6.I mean,Angry Birds are nice for making time pass by on the subway, but that's about it.Asphalt 5,NOVA and Modern Combat 2 were so-so,but not nearly enough. Not to mention that NOVA 2 was a disappointment.Graphics were kinda better than NOVA,but gameplay and controls were seriously lacking.GLU games are also somewhat good at the beginning, but are repetitive, they get boring after a while and seriously,I won't spend 50€ in GLU credits as long as my brain serves me well.
Then Modern Combat 3 came out. This was the game I had been waiting about.Graphics, storyline and gameplay-all were awesome. It was the first title that could really claim it was "console quality".Things have got better since, especially with games by Gameloft and EA.Mass Effect is really great too.But my only complaint now is that all these are REALLY short.I ain't the most hardcore gamer, especially on mobile devices, but I finished Mass Effect the day I downloaded it.MC3 may have online mode but bleh,I don't want to sell my house to pay the data bill.Plus when I'm home I have a PC and a PS3,I won't play on my phone normally.
3 days ago NOVA 3 came out.And...OMFG!This is the best-looking game I've ever seen on a mobile device of any kind. And to tell you the truth,I don't think I remember many PS2 games having this kind of graphics. And its gameplay and controls are vastly improved over NOVA 2.It's much closer to MC3 actually.Plus, even MC3 didn't push the hardware to its limits. My Desire HD had no problems playing it with a pretty playable gameplay-it wasn't too noticeable, just not 100% smooth. Not to mention the Galaxy S 2,it didn't break a sweat. But with NOVA 3 things are different. My GS2 struggles to play it properly sometimes. It only plays perfectly if I overclock the GPU,but then it overheats a bit.I won't even bother playing in on the Desire HD and will be waiting for my GS3 to fully enjoy the game in all its glory.I haven't finished it yet-that's a good sign, although I haven't played too much these days.Still,it seems it has some duration and the storyline unfolds nicely.
NOVA 3 is another step in the right direction, after Dead Space,MC3 and Mass Effect. We shall wait and see what Asphalt 7 brings on the table. But what's your opinion, guys and gals? Are things for Android gaming getting better? Will we really enjoy "cosnole-quality" games from now on?The hardware is surely powerful enough to give the opportunity. And most importantly-are the aforementioned games a sign that NVidia's dream of monopolizing gaming on Android won't come true?I sure hope it's like that(I'll avoid buying a Tegra device as long as I have another choice)

What I don't like about Android as a gaming platform (ex GS2 user) is the fact that nearly every time a very good looking game comes out it makes your hardware outdated. The example with MC3 is a good one: when it came out it lagged in a very annoying way on my GS2. I guess that as soon as say MC4 comes out it will be too much already for the GS3, and so on. Honestly it doesn't sound fair that I have to upgrade every 6-8 months in order to keep up with the latest games just because of rough ports. I really hope that this is gonna change in the future, also because I'm getting an Android tablet (or phablet, I still have to decide) soon, and I'd be pleased if it served me as a gaming console for more than a few months before it can't handle anymore the latest and greatest incarnation of my favorite game. On iOS people can play MC3 100% smooth on a simple iPhone4, we deserve nothing less as end users IMHO.

MC3 has some problems on the GS2.As I said,it plays quite well on the Desire HD,so no issue here.Just on the S2 the level where you are on the back of a truck and shoot others is lagging like hell. It's not that the hardware can't handle it,something is just wrong. It even lags on my overclocked device at that point Apart from that it plays perfectly smoothly.

Yeah, it probably is device related. However, I found that the textures are more detailed on the GS2 compared to other phones: a friend of mine has a Desire S and I must say that textures are worse on that device. This may actually be the cause of the random laggyness you get at times, maybe the developers overestimated the power of the Exynos SOC when they were working on the port...

you said you overclock your S2 right?
you also said your are waiting for the S3, but doesn't the S3 have the same GPU as the S2? i hear its an overclocked Mali-400 @ 400mhz
the S2 is also a Mali-400 at 286 mhz i think... so what did u overclock your S2's GPU? i really wished Sammy used the Mali-T604 GPU but im still on the fence on getting the S3...yes it does have 2GB of RAM but i still haven't found a Android that can match the GPU power of my iphone4S PowerVRSGX543MP2 that is one badass GPU i love Android and what it stands for... but i have yet to find a device worthy enough to replace my iphone4s , i mainly use it for gaming, i do use a android phone for daily use cause android OS works for me better than IOS but not with gaming... maybe ill wait for the adreno 320 or Mali-T604 or Mali-T628....

the S2 is also a Mali-400 at 286 mhz i think... so what did u overclock your S2's GPU? i really wished Sammy used the Mali-T604 GPU but im still on the fence on getting the S3...yes it does have 2GB of RAM but i still haven't found a Android that can match the GPU power of my iphone4S PowerVRSGX543MP2 that is one badass GPU i love Android and what it stands for... but i have yet to find a device worthy enough to replace my iphone4s , i mainly use it for gaming, i do use a android phone for daily use cause android OS works for me better than IOS but not with gaming... maybe ill wait for the adreno 320 or Mali-T604 or Mali-T628....

Well,I wished for a better GPU too,but what can we do?
The S3's Mali-MP400 runs at 440MHz,while the S2's GPU runs at 267MHz.Still,the S3 has a quite faster bus,so one could say that an overclocked Mali-MP400 at 400MHz in the S2 is underutilized compared to the S3.
Anyway, the only mobile GPU that can beat the S3's GPU is the iPad 3's GPU.The S3 is miles ahead of the iPhone 4S in GPU power(And everything else in that aspect). However,iOS does have better games-<3 Infinity Blade...

Yeah, nvidia are just confused. Galaxy note owns everything with a tegra 3 IMHO, has more screen and....arrgh,no games. Samsung try with the game hub,but it's not oomph.

NVidia are just idiots. They think they'll make much profit from monopolizing Android gaming. However, all that they're managing to do is to make gamers go to iOS.For the time being, all my hopes rest with EA and Gameloft...The others either make crappy games or make them run better(Or only) on Tegra devices.I also hated Madfinger Games.Did you guys see Dead Trigger's trailer? It implies that Tegra 3 is different to Android.Idiots...
I hate that, playing a game especially madfinger ones and the first thing you see is NVIDIA logo. Then you proceed to excellent gameplay only to be hit by some heavy lag(or entire force close) ahead. Really? I want an android game period. Why should I check the innards of my phone everytime a new game is out?

yeah your right, the INTL S3 does have a better GPU then my iphone4s , problem is the USA S3 has a adreno 225 GPU.... so ill hold off on getting the S3 untill a phone comes with a adreno 320 or malit604....
Yes I am noob, but I would like to learn more, so here I am, long time looker, joining the ranks. I tried searching but all I found was 2-3 year old stuff or non specific answers.
*Edit* CRAP SORRY, saw that questions shouldn't be posted in general. Such a noob move sorry...
I am currently loading old school gaming roms on my phone and soon to be tablet. Years ago I had n64 roms and they were laggy, I figured years later they would run without a hitch, not so much.
Here is what I am running.
Verizon Droid RAZR HD
Micro SD (class 4) 32GB
Snapdragon S4 MSM8960
CPU 1.5 GHz dual-core Krait
GPU Adreno 225
Memory 1GB Dual-channel, 500 MHz LPDDR2 RAM
I am running the standard vanilla rom so it's stock with Verizons bloatware, so I now a bit of lag could rest there.
I am looking to buy a cheaper android tablet that will run Ps1/N64 games without a hitch if possible. I guess what I am wondering is what controls ROM's lag, is it the GPU? Memory? Processor? The ROM/Program itself? I am wondering what hardware (if any) runs these without major issues.
Thanks a ton guys, very happy to help join the ranks. If I missed a thread that covers this please point me in the right direction!
Bump please
Guess I'll try again

In all honesty it is a combination of all the factors you mentioned above. Because mobile processors work on a SoC (System on a Chip) design model if you have a weak CPU all the others components on the chip such as RAM and GPU will be weak as well, likewise a strong CPU will most often be coupled with powerful components increasing performance. That being said emulating games is mainly GPU and some CPU intensive of a task. Also the ROM app itself can be a major factor because the games are not being run on there native optimized hardware (Such as the N64) game performance can surfer, a poorly optimized game emulator will lead to poor playback of emulated games. As far as hardware that runs these without issue my Galaxy S3 and Nexus 10 have ran whatever emulator ROM I throw at them. Also keep in mind some game ROMs just don't work or are poorly optimized so no matter what emulator or hardware you have they will have problems with lag.

Wish I could give you more props for answering that, thanks a ton!!
A few follows ups. Isn't my Razr HD pretty close to the same specs as your S3 (short of yours has 2GB of ram) or now are we talking about the fact that I have the stock bloatware of Verizon?
So something like a Tegra 3 would work perfectly fine correct?
Your last sentence makes me worried. For instance it seems like Golden Eye, Super Smash Bros and Final Final Fantasy 7 all seem to hit small short lag spikes with audio and the N64s hit preformance spikes. It's subtle but enough to be annoying.

You are correct the Razr HD is very close in specs to the US version of my Galaxy S3 apart from the 2GB or RAM, the 2GB of RAM can help performance but won't cause a massive difference in performance. Additionally the Verizon bloat will chew up resources and depending on what other applications you have running the background can take away resources from the emulator. In general carrier bloatware will slow down the entire device making it seem sluggish. Since you mentioned you were looking to get a cheaper Android tablet to play emulated games on I would definitely check out the Nexus 7, it has good gaming performance for emulated games and gaming performance in general. And like I said previously some games will always just lag or have jumps in the audio and can be annoying unfortunately that part of the problem with playing emulated games.

Thank you for the compliment and that is defiantly a good choice, my only piece of advice when buying devices refurbished is ask them if you can try the exact device your gonna buy before you pay for it. I have known several people who have bought refurbished electronics from stores where the guarantee said the device was fully working but when they got home it either didn't power on or something else didn't function properly.

Yup for sure, they have a 15 day return period, so for whatever reason it does not work, I'll return it. I also saw an Amazon review where they were talking about n64/ps1 roms seems to me like the guy got them to work without any lag issues.
I have been holding on and skipping devices that were/are really appealing to me(LG Pro, Oppo, Sony Xperia Z, etc) for the Note 3.
I was going to order the Xperia Z Ultra but thankfully I convinced my self otherwise. I'm not playing many games now days nor using it heavily.
Mostly for above average media consumption, light gaming, browsing.
Also as I said I was waiting for the Note 3 since the day Note 2 was announced I decided to skip a generation.
And thankfully I decided to skip the Note 3 for the Mega. I really wanna go even bigger this time. I don't mind the mid-range performance.
And since my original Note with Asylum 4.3 now feels so incredible(it felt good with custom JB 4.1.2 too), I can only imagine the Mega will blow my mind.
I got the Note 1 at launch and I paid for it quite dearly for it back then.
And today I got my Samsung MEGA(i9200). HOLY MOTHER OF GOD! I'm really in love with this device. The size, the screen, its sound quality are just... amazing!
I can't even remotely begin to explain how I feel about it. This IS really the device that ever wanted. This device in my hand(s) feels like home...
I'm using it for a couple hours now and I can tell you I wouldn't even think about trading it for a Note 3(for free yes as I could sell the Note3 and buy another Mega )
This is really my preferred size of a phone. But I can go down to 6" too if the N4 is released next year and its 5,9-6,0". The best device so far I ever owned.
I also stated that I can go up to 6" when I got my Note in previous post of mine. So I was kinda always wanted a phone this big,
Watched a few trailers, videos clip, youtube videos, listen to many songs. I can say the experience was amazing. I haven't played any games yet tho.
This phone is big. You cannot really how humongous it's unless you light up the screen. The you can understand how huge it is. But it doesn't feel THAT bigger than my Note tbh.
I think that sums things up for me. I haven't felt this excited for a phone since 21 months ago when I got my original Note. Really, really happy owner here.
P.S: I can test/check/confirm anything you guys might want. Like bugs(like dim bug), codes, camera firmware, glitches etc etc. Just let me know. :good:
Edit: I have FM Radio btw and its fully working.
Congrats! Could you run a movie on both Note and Mega and tell us what you think. I am particularly interested in comparing the brightness, and the blacks. And colors. If you could play a high bit rate action movie 720p and compare them smoothness that would be great too. Thanks!

I always compared my previous phones(when its possible to compare them anyway) to my new ones. I always test them with 1080p trailers of excellent quality.
I will do a side by side test with both devices playing various videos(big buck bunny, Sintel, Tekken Blood Vengeance, Hobbit, Avatar, Timescapes etc etc).
But I must be honest, I consider my self a true fan of the AMOLED screens and I love them and I swear by them, so I check the display differences extensively.
I always compare them side by side in:
benchmarks( doing a reboot first and then clearing RAM and closing every possible running up)
screen quality by playing same video with MX at the exact same settings on both devices and also by displaying both the same photo/image.
Camera quality by taking the exact same picture outdoors in qood sunlight conditions and tonight I will test the low light camera quality and view them on my pc.
And obviously the side by side size comparisons. lol.
And maybe a few more...

You will de-virginize(is that even a word) my Mega as you did with my Note...
Update on the battery life:
Its been 7 hours since the first fully charge and 32% remaining. 5 hours screen on time so far with 4h:44m WIFI on time.
Usage was(estimated unless said otherwise):
Around 30-40 Youtube videos(in HD).
Played 10-12 1080p videos I put from the PC for around maybe 20-25 minutes all total time of play time with the MX Player.
Run Antutu 4.0.1(19907) once.
Run 3DMark twice(5474).
Browsed the web with Chrome Beta for around 12 minutes as it say in the stats even tho I feel it was longer than that.
Took around 15 photos some with around 5 being with flash
Also spent a couple of minutes totally just looking at the screen. That thing is huge!

Agreed! Love it!
Update: Rooted today(from here) and updated with XXUAMH1(SILENTLIGHT Rom found here).
This AMH1 release feels and IS faster. I can swear the apps at least feels that open up faster.
In general the phone feels noticeably smoother.
Also my score in 3DMark went from 5147 to 5506. Antutu from 19500 to 20500.
And no, it felt faster all day long. I just run the synthetic test like 15min ago. So I didn't had that in mind to cause a placebo effect or anything.
Congrats koniakki on getting the mega and you are going to enjoy it, i ran Antutu on a stock rom yet, and phone is only rooted at this time and i got a score of 20662..imagine when some custom roms come out for this phone it could have a better score yet..enjoy your new phone.

Thanks for the reply starmaster and welcome to the Mega community too! My best on the Antutu 4.0.1 was around 20500! So well done! :good:
Quadrant was about 7250-7300 my best. Can't remember exactly but was about there. Bring the custom roms/kernels. Our Snappy has a lot of headroom for improvements!
Also starmaster, what I like also is when I compare that score along with the Note 2 or Xperia Z in the Rankings!
Forsure and the scores are very close to those two phones and the mega beats both of those two other phones in the 3D Graphics gaming category i see..now bring on the custom roms. :good:
Edit: I just ran Quadrant on my mega 6.3 and got a score of 8570.

Either your CPU is a racehorse or something is off!! lol!
You got 5000 points more in the CPU score and 2000 points in the I/O score! Did you apply any kind of tweaks? I'm very interested.
No.. i have no tweaks in the phone at all, it is just rooted and that is all, maybe my model i527m is a little different in ways and in the info is says 1.7 GHz cpu and it is a Qualcomm snapdragon and the Adreno 305, maybe i got lucky and got a really good phone..but everything is stock except the rooting part.
Below is a pic of my device info.
And i just re-ran Quadrant again and got even a higher score of 8664..not sure why i am getting these good scores but i like it.

No problem on that..and i hope they get a solution for your i527 mega so that you can root it as that is kinda a bummer that they locked the bootloader on that model for the AT&T version..sooner the better. :good:

Hmm. I re-run the benchmark with all the available Governors/Schedulers combination allowed via CPU Master and I cannot pass 7300 points.
Anyone else with a i9200 Mega can run Quadrant please and post their best score please?
If other members with i9200 get the same as me, maybe we can find why starmaster10 scores are so high and find a way to get that performance too! :good:

i am getting about 7200 but i don't know why he getting high score i have searched on wikipedia but i didn't find anything his device use the same cpu and gpu and same speed 1.7 and same ram maybe he can upload screenshot from cpu z app so we know more information about your device
or maybe your kernel has tweaks to boost performence or something like that
Here is a pic of my kernel version and baseband version etc, i will see if i can get more info on my device with that app or some others also. :good:

I did another run with Quadrant and my score went up again to 8772...I am kinda puzzled on the scores that I am getting.
Not sure if this will make a difference for you guys/gals, do you have any anti-virus program installed as i have not installed a anti-virus program yet...and i most likely will not as i do not go to any of the dodgy sites.

Don't get us wrong starmaster10, we are really happy for you that you get that performance. I hope that yo can even get 9000! :good:
We are just trying to figure out how to get that too and see if a kernel/rom or simply the I527M version of the Mega is just faster or better optimized!
The differences are in the CPU and I/O which are 5000 and 2000 points faster respectively. I hope someone more knowledgeable can enlighten us, since it will benefit us all to make our devices even faster!
P.S: Starmaster10, if not much trouble, can you please post some scores from the latest Antutu from the Play Store? Thanks!
