Okay. So here is the one issue that I have been having with this particular Rom.
I can receive MMS messages just fine, but I cant send them. When I hit send and receive it says error synchronizing. The crazy thing is that in the progress icon for sending MMS it goes to 100%, however it never leaves my outbox and the other person never gets it.
I changed the settings under server to the correct ones:
Server settings that need to change:
Gateway: "blank"
port: 80
Server address: http://mms.vtext.com/servlets/mms
Sending Size limit: 350k or 400k
Any ideas? This is the only problem I have had so far! btw, like I said in my title, im on VZW. Btw, I know about the Arcsoft Sprint MMS hack, however if possible I would like to use the version on Arcsoft that came with the DCD rom as it has a lot of features the old sprint hack does not. Thx.
-Sayajin
if you are on verizon you dont use the sprint hack, you dont need a hack at all. make sure you did not make any changes before you set up your MMS. i know several people that did some things and thought it was the arcsoft but it was something else they had changed. from scratch, only change the registry (did you make these changes?), the server and the connection. then it should work, almost guaranteed. this is in multiple posts so just search and you will find tons of them.
Sounds like my problem may be that I didint make those registry changes you were referring to. Other than that, the only thing I did was put the correct server in.
What registry modifications do I need to make in order for it to work on VZW?
btw, I wanted to add that I searched and found some threads on this issue and the correct settings for T-Mobile, but i diddnt see one for VZW.
Thanks a lot.

MMS reg
SSJSayajin,
Follow my directions here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=364043&page=30
Use the reg file and edit it......
Thanks a lot man your a Savior! One issue however, I am open the file and modify it with no problem, however I cant import it!
I am using Total Commander as my file explorer and PHM Regedit as my registry editor. When I click the file a "do you want to import this" does not come up. It actually opens up PHM Regedit, however the option to import the file is greyed out.
Any Ideas? This is my last issue! Thx.
*edit*
So I found out the problem, PHM does not allow you to import reg entries. So how do I open up the default reg editor so I can import this? Thx guys.
-Sayajin
I have a problem with the MMS registery hack you posted, I downloaded it, removed .txt, edited my phone number, transfered it to my phone but in file explorer or total commander when I click on it, it gives me a error " there is no application associated with "Verizon MMS settings for Arcosoft 4281" run the application first, then open this file from within the application" I am running DCD 2.2.6 rom,any help? thanks
Well I figured out one issue, as far as importing the reg file, use DotFred's Task Manager. It has a built in reg editor that works perfectly.
But my stuff still doesnt work properly! I imported the reg entry and I know it worked becuase it added more items to my phone, however I have the same problem of being unable to send mms. Does the exact same thing as before with the error of unable to syncronize.
Any ideas? Thx.
-Sayajin
i am testing this now. did a hard reset, imported it and i'll test it out.
that didnt work. I am juust going back to 3.2
i could send but not recieve
1st - Are you guys on Verizon?
2nd - Did you read the entire thread that I linked too.... It has other items you will need to do..... That thread resolved most if not all issues relating to using MMS with Verizon. Now when I put a new ROM on my phone, I have added the registry entries in MY file to the OEMizer and that adds it automatically to the ROM, so I get MMS right away with my new ROM..... Like I am on DCD's 2.3.1 right now, and I have MMS just fine.... Please go back and read that other thread entirely.... It will help guys.....

that thread is lots of pages long.. is there a way we can get a summary?
Not to be an ass, but thats how you learn... read... I've been lurking around here for about 1 3/4 months, and really have done nothing but read as much as possible.... so really it's up to you to summarize it for yourself. I'd have to re-read it again to be able to summarize it, and I don't have the time to do that research again..... sorry....

lol, youre not being an ass. thats what i would say.
what i meant was, there's more to it than just importing the reg file right?
so, i imported the reg file and it had a random character in the gateway field, so i removed that and i can send fine, but i still cant receive. I'll look through that thread more and see whats going on here.
Are you using Arcsoft MMs ver 4.2.81 right?
EDIT: When you download my reg file, it comes with a .txt extension. When you save it, does it's icon change? If not, then it's not being saved as a registry file....

Yea, its version 4.2.81. Also Yes, the registry icon changes once you remove the .txt extension. The file imports just fine, it just doesnt resolve the issue. Also yes, its on Verizon.
While I realize that reading that 60+ page thread will help, unfortunately I would rather not spend 2 hours reading the thread for a solution that someone may know off hand. Now of course if thats not possible I will have to read it, but I was hoping someone would know of a fix?
What else needs to be done in order to be able to send and receive MMS messages in addition to the registry hack that was pointed out?
-Sayajin
yeah, its verizon and i have that version of arcsoft. whast odd is that it was working fine on 2.2.6, on 2.3.1 it isnt. i even used oemizer to setup the registry entries and still... i can send but not recieve.
i am completely stumped
Okay, So I broke down and read about 30 pages of the thread to look for MMS issues. This is what I have found in a summary.
1. Install the Reg file in this post.
2. Delete every other server listed under MMS servers
3. Delete the random character that shows up under Gateway in server settings.
4. Go into the registry and where it says Default as the value for anything, change it to Verizon Wireless.
5. Soft Reset
Thats about everything I got from the post after reading 30+ pages. Still have the same issue....
-Sayajin
FWIW - This is about the only thing I can think of that might help.... Go into your registry and delete the config key under ArcSoft MMS UA.... Then import this reg file, its straight from my 6800 this morning, and I can confirm it works just fine for me..... I zipped it so there is no need to change the extension..... I send and received MMS from myself and from a friends phone he let me use.... I just tested this out.... I also tested my config by changing the sending size and when I upped it, I couldn't send anymore..... So trying to send larger files may mess up your ability to send MMS..... Hopefully this helps..... If the import doesn't solve the issue, then hard reset, imput the reg and test again......
I'm trying to help as much as I can.....
Thx a lot for the assistance man!
One issue, when trying to import the new file it says "error the selected file is not a registry script unable to import" any ideas on that one?
Thx.

I have MMS working on DCD's newest 3.1.2 ROM with the 3.39 Radio as well.
1. I installed the 3.39 Radio using the stock Sprint 3.39 Test ROM.
2. I installed DCD's 3.1.2 ROM using the kitchen with the Arcsoft OEM from DCD's 3.0.4 Kitchen cooked in.
3. I installed the Verizon Customization CAB
4. I added the string X-VzW-MDN with a value of my ten digit phone number to HKLM\Software\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\mm1\WspHeader in the registry.
5. I changes the MMS setttings to:
Server settings that need to change:
Gateway: "blank"
port: 80
Server address: http://mms.vtext.com/servlets/mms
Sending Size limit: 300k
Now my MMS works fine.
Hope this helps people since for some reason everyone sort of skirts around this topic.
did u try MMS video? just seeing if yours is working ok. mine was working then it wasnt then it was...
There is a thread SPECIFICALLY for mms on 3.1.x. It was started to stop the crazy amount of posts in the kitchen thread and to thwart against tons of new threads like this. Please, from now on post in that thread to discuss ANYTHING to do with MMS on 3.1.x

Yes this fixed mine as well. Thanks for posting it.
You guys do know that there are other people out there on other carriers trying to get MMS working too? That's the reason for the dedicated MMS 3.1.x thread.
Also, you do realize that if you use the verizon carrier cab that I posted, with the MMS settings, and not the new one, that you don't have to go in and change anything in the server settings.
gcincotta maybe I found you. I have falshed my xv6800 w/ dcd 3.1.2 with the 3.39 radio and I installed the verizon cab. Everything is werking fine after the over the air prog. But the OS does not have the personal settings tab, there is no voice command, and there is no slide sounds settings. Can you please advise??? please...

MMS settings are different for each carrier. That's why it doesn't make sense to do your "collective MMS" thread.
Say i have verizon, i need to sort through tons of unrelated crap to find an answer. This thread is short, concise, and it works.
Please stop complaining.... If you have a CAB which does this for us. Than please post it.

This is not complaining, this is common sense. MMS settings are indeed different for each carrier, but if you actually read my posts you'd find that you do NOT have to touch your settings WHATSOEVER as long as you use the carrier cab WITH MMS settings. I do have a cab that does this for you, and if you took a minute to fill out a search box you'd find it ALONG with my instructions on how to make it work. All you have to do is enter your MDN key, which can be done using UC AUTOMATICALLY. As far as I'm concerned, this thread is pointless and clutter, as EVERYTHING stated in it has either already been said, or is moot.
If you search my posts you'll find that I help a LOT of people, and I love doing it, but when ignorance like this is thrown into the mix, it makes it a lot less rewarding.
Halkeye, shoot me a pm and we'll get your situation squared away asap. No reason to continue this thread, especially with off topic stuff.

Well i just did a search "Verizon MMS" it came back with this thread and your other thread and a bunch of useless threads (no i didn't look at every one, if it doesn't have a clear title no one will look at it) none of which have this CAB file your talking about. Regardless These instructions are great for people who have already run the DCD Verizon customizations and don't want to re-flash and then run your customizations. I still think this thread is relevant and again if you have this CAB i think it would still be useful to post it.
I will be posting complete instructions in the other thread along with the cab file.

so i take it you gave the custom roms another shot? did everything work out this time?
im sorry for the troubles you had before, im trying to incorporate something in my next version to prevent vz troubles like you had.
I have Verizion Wireless. I just installed BootLoader 2.40, Titan_Radio_ROM_3.42.30, dcd_titan_kitchen_3.2.2, and dcd Verizon Carrier 20080706.cab. I don't know if I was supposed to, but also did *228 option 1 to program my phone and *228 option 2 for updating roaming cababilities. The internet works fine on the phone and I can recieve text messages without any problems, but I can't make or recieve phone calls. Thanks for your help and time!!
Gonna go out on a limb here and guess that it's saying you're not authenticated?
You need to call Verizon and have them authenticate you. It's normal when you go from stock to a GPS radio.
I go with gc14 on this one. Just had the same thing happen to me a while ago after just doing a hard reset...no update ROM, radio, or anything. Just hard reset and no more authentication...what a pain. lol
Oh, yeah. I listened again and that's what she said. OK, I'll call them tomorrow.
I even got my TomTom GPS software working. I didn't need to use any 3rd party software to get it working either like it said on the forums.
I even got Opera Java working, but I got some kind of message when I was installing the Java software saying that Sprint couldn't guarantee something. I don't remember the exact message, but I don't have Sprint, I have Verizon. Did I install the wrong ROM or something? Am I going to have problems now? Thanks!
How come everywhere I go now it thinks my phone is a Sprint PPC-6800, when it's really a Verizion XV-6800? I just went to Yahoo.com and it's calling my phone a Sprint PPC-6800. Is this going to cause any problems with my Verizon account? Thanks..
OK, I called Verizon this morning and they gave me a new A-Key, and I can make and receive phone calls now. I got a couple of other issues.
When I go to Messaging only Text Messages are their now and MMS Messages are missing. So, I can't figure out how to Send picture or video messages anymore. Before when I clicked on a pic it gave me the option of sending it via MMS and that option is now gone. Now, if I click on Send it takes me to, "Select an Account" but only Text Messages and Setup E-mail acount is there now. I don't know if the new version of WM6.1 handles MMS messages differently but I can't figure out how to send MMS text messages anymore. Am I missing something?
Also, I installed the v5 of the camera software and I can't figure out how to turn on the Flash. I've been messing with it, but can't figure it out.
Well, those are the only two issues so far, so hopefully somebody knows what's up and if I get them fixed I'll be really happy. Thanks everybody for all the help!!

I don't use text messages, so I can't be sure, but I think there are other links about text messages. You likely need to install a program. Try searching and let us know if you find it.
As far as the flash with v5 of camera, I think you are out of luck. My memory is there is no flash. There is a way of installing the old camera back without doing a hard reset. I just don't remember how to do it. You can try searching for this too. Again let us know if you find it. Hopefully someone else will be able to help more.
Yes, I think I found the solution, I did what it said and now it says SMS/MMS, but I haven't tested it yet. So, I'll see. I just need to know about the camera now. That's the only issue..

You really need to read through a whole ROM thread to understand all this, but there are so many little "Got ya!"s that the pay off is there. The Wiki is also a good place to start.
These three pages explain a lot of the issues:

http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=TITAN_GettingStarted

If you read the details of DCD's stuff you find that the kitchen/rom does not contain anything network specific and you MUST apply the OEMizer tool afterwords. The link to the verizon one is right in the post. That will solve some of your issues.
Also DCD has explained that the updated camera software was ripped from a phone that does not have a flash therefore it is not supported in the software. If you want the flash, you need to downgrade.
Here is the updated link to Arcsoft. Works perfectly. The only defect I see is that incoming MMS show the phone number and the name in your contact. But when you reply as a text it comes back.

1st - The camera you used is version 5, to have the flash again you will need to re-cook a ROM with version 4.X....
2nd - For the latest MMS, use GC14's 5.0.31.25 cab of Arcsoft. The incoming MMS issue where the phone number is shown instead of your contact has been fixed. Find that cab here MMS 5.0.31.25
Yes, I've already read all of those links many times. I saw the information about the OEMizer. It said it was OPTIONAL. It doesn't really tell me what it is, or what it's for. Since this was the first time I ever installed a new bootloader, radio, rom and VZW cab, and didn't really know what I was doing, I didn't want to make it too complicated and overwelm myself. I still don't know what the OEMizer is, but I guess I can run it and see what happens. I need to make a new ROM anyways for the camera. I still have a few questions.
- What is the OEMizer for and is there someplace that explains it's settings?
- I can't find OEMizer in the Kitchen's Tool directory or any of the other Kitchen's directories. Where is it at? I did a search on the internet and couldn't find it.
- What is PagePool Changer? Is that something I need to use?
- Now I have the latest bootloader and radio installed in my phone already, can I make a new rom via the kitchen and just install it without having to worry about anything else?
- I guess I will still need to run the VZW cab file after I install a new ROM, but that should be it, right? Just those two things?
- I need a free registery editor. It looks like to upgrade to the latest Arcsoft MMS I need to edit the registery since I have an older version of Arcsoft installed right now.
- WM6.1 is grouping all my text messages together, which is great and I love it, but the only problem is sometimes I want to deleate one text message and it seems like you can't and you have to delete all the text messages from the same person. Is that true, or is there a way around it?
Thanks everybody again for all your help!!!

There is no need for any registry changes with my new version of Arcsoft. Uninstall the old one, then install the new one.
To use this, uninstall any version of Arcsoft you may have installed currently. Once it is fully uninstalled, check your registry and make sure there is nothing for Arcsoft under "HKLM\Software." Next, install this cab. Once it is done installing, check your registry under "HKLM\Software\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\mm1\WspHeader" and make sure X-VzW-MDN is set correctly with your phone number.

ATTN: Anyone with their Eris on Cricket -
Has anyone here successfully set up Google Voice on their Cricket flashed phone?
I'm attempting to get my ex-gf's set up with Google Voice. As you go through the setup process, and hit 'Activate', after a short minute or two, the activation Fails, with a message citing that Google Voice was unable to detect a valid phone number for the phone (implying the ACTUAL number, not the 'Voice' number).
(note: this is Plain Jane v1.0 (shouldn't matter), all PST settings in place properly, and the cricket_web_mms_v9.zip flash from Token419)
My next efforts will include taking /data/data/com.google.android.apps.googlevoice/shared_prefs/com.google.android.apps.googlevoice_preferences.xml and editing it in WordPad to include her phone numbers instead of mine.
Then I'm going to copy the whole com.google.android.apps.googlevoice folder from my /data/data into her /data/data, and reboot the phone.
My HOPE is that the number just needs to be thrown into this .xml file, and nothing more.
Has anyone else had any trouble with this, or needed to play with .xml files to get this to work? If so, did you set it up to work on Google.com/voice with a full web browser (computer) first, THEN set it up on the phone? Or did you use the phone first.
I will report my success rate here whenever I see her (hopefully this week?), but until then, I thought I'd see if someone found something more efficient or reasonable to do to get this to work (since what I'm doing seems a little excessive!)
Thank you in advance, ladies and gentlemen.

Have you done the full flash outlined in this thread?
http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...o-Flash-to-Cricket-with-Talk-Text-Wap-and-MMS
I was actually the first one on any of the forums to get MMS working on Cricket on our phones.
I did it by figuring it out (not using a method from any other phone).
And yes, all PST settings are in place 100%, and the cricket web MMS v9 flash is flashed to the phone, 100%.
More specifically, from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=730289
Cricket's forwarding commands are different than what is pre-programmed on Gtalk. I don't recall exactly, but I think instead of #740 to forward, it's #720 for Cricket....that may help...I got it set up right away after figuring that out.

Right, but that's not the problem.
Forwarding everything to Google Voice is not the problem at all. It's *73 and *74 and so on, virtually the same as Sprint.
The problem isn't using Google Voice the way some people use it, by having it text you, and using the web site.
The problem is, SPECIFICALLY, with the Google Voice app. When opening it for the first time, it tells you that it can't detect your phone number. In other words, your normal Cricket phone number.
I'm looking to have her put on the Google Voice app, so that instead of getting texts with your transcribed voice mails (many minutes after the voice mail), that the app brings it through the internet (like it does for me, on Verizon).
Without the Voice app, Google Voice might as well be like it is on the iPhone (since the GV+ app sucks), which is basically the same as a Dumb Phone uses it.
Bump? On mycricket.com they tell how to do unconditional call forwarding. So I know its possible. Although I don't see a feature under features in mycricket.com. So BuMp any got this working with Cricket?
Thanks,
MM

How do I make the ICS Talk app sort ALL buddies by availability, not just my most frequently contacted ones? And if I can't, is the 4.1 or 4.2 version capable? If not, will replacing it with the GB Talk.apk do any harm?
Thanks, guys. Google royally screwed up on this one.

I don't know how to make it sort the buddy list the way you want, but you can try reinstalling the gingerbread version (Just make sure you make a nandroid backup first so you can easily fix things if anything goes wrong).

Ohh, thank you, God. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to rooting the Droid 4. I figured it out.
To make Talk.apk sort *everyone* by availability, not just the most popular contacts:
Open Settings -> Apps -> All -> Talk and hit "Force Stop"
Open a root terminal on your device.
cd /data/data/com.google.android.talk/shared_prefs/
edit BuddyListCombo.xml in your preferred root-capable text editor. I used the busybox "vi", but if others exist, feel free to use them.
change the value for "gtalk-view-mode" to 1
change the value for "gtalk-sort-mode" to 0
save file and exit
You should now be able to bring up Talk.apk and see all contacts sorted by availability.
WARNING: DO NOT bring up the "View Options" settings within the app after doing this. Because you can't sort this way from the GUI, anything you do will overwrite the file with one of the three options available in that GUI. You'll have to do this all over again.
