Hi, I have just bought a HTC one m8 off ebay, only problem is that it has come shipped with the chinese version of android os. I was hoping that it would be possible for me to change it to an official UK stock firmware (so I don't have all the chinese apps)?
Checked on htcdev.com and I am unsure about the carrier as my phone is unlocked and assume I must use the HTC (carrier) EU (region) CRC?
Any help would be really appreciated

I have a few questions for you. I am new to all this (Android), so if you can please bear with me.
I live in India (basically, Asia) and I am buying the HTC Desire tomorrow, either from a Grey Market or through an authorized dealer (it JUST got released here).
It will have the stock 2.1 installed on it (it could be anything: generic(1.21.405.2) or even some random, Asian country version 1.21.720.4 (India's))
Basically, my question is,
1. Can I install "RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.09.405.8_Radio_32.43.00 . 32U_5.09.00.20_release_140022_signed.exe" on my cell REGARDLESS of the version of 2.1?
It will be unlocked and unbranded, BTW.
2. Everything will remain official, right? And I will get future updates OTA?
3. I'm assuming I don't need a Gold Card since it's unbranded. Right?
4. What are the risks? Can I brick my phone if something goes wrong?
Thank you so much, everyone!

Hi,
I purchased an HTC Mozart in a store in Israel and I got a T-Mobile branded phone with only English and German keyboard.
I know there is no official Hebrew keyboard but I don't want the T-Mobile ROM, I would like to have an unbranded ROM so I will get updates from Microsoft and won't be tied to T-Mobile updates.
I'm a noobe in this whole area of ROM and flashing, and I need help understanding the basics.
I saw the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=898900 which listed a lot of unbranded ROMs for Mozart phone.
Some questions:
1. How do I find out what is my phone's CID?
2. What will an unbranded ROM allow me to do? Will I get updated directly from Microsoft without T-Mobile?
3. I suppose I can wait until the Hebrew language is official supported and only then get a ROM with the Hebrew language. Is it a right assumption or will our ROMs get the aditional languages as well?
I have this firmware and radio versions:
Firmware: 2250.09.12505.111 (--> 1.25.111.05)
Radio: 5.50.09.18_22.24.50.09U
Thanks,
Raanan
I swear there was a thread by ansar who describied a way to unbrand Mozart without all this Gold Card (and especially Y-cable) hassle. I can't find it for some reason anymore.
With regard to your question 2, I suspect you'll get two things after unbranding - you'll get updates faster, and you will be able to flash ROMs that support your language when it's added. You won't see Hebrew keyboard on your T-Mo De phone till cows come home.
Now if only I could find that thread...
I think you mean this thread:

I'm trying to work out which Fastboot files I need.
I bought mine in the UK, it was shipped from Hong Kong, but has an EU sticker on the box.
Donkey here, didn't write down which version I was previously running, but I seem to recall 'Asia' being in the title. I didn't back it up either.
I'm assuming it's not retail British, but more likely the EU version??? Anyway of working it out?
Hi,
My mom bought her Desire X from an online deal here in Belgium a few months ago (iBood).
We were caught by surprise when the device was delivered and turned out to be a German T-Mobile branded device with a bunch of bloatware apps!
The system language has been altered to Dutch (what we speak here in the upper part of Belgium), but still some German keeps popping up throughout the system and its apps.
I've found the RUU for the unbranded, unlocked European device, which would be perfect for her phone.
Is there any way I can flash this unbranded RUU on the branded device, by changing the CID for instance?
And if so, how can I do this if this is at all possible...

Unfortunately you can't change the CID.
However, you can root the device and flash a custom ROM that will let you select your preferred language.

He is right
For the Desire X is s-off not available and without s-off you can't change the CID

Hi,
What firmware/rom do you recommend for a H930DS used in Europe?
The one i have now is imported from Hong Kong with firmware V21d-HKG-xx. I consider a different firmware/custom rom but only if there is an advantage (ex if VOLTE/wifi-calling works).
I live in Denmark.
Kind regards
Christian
Hi there.. I also have the h930ds from Hong Kong.. after trying multiple stock ROMs.. the only one that gave me volte options on the menus was the Taiwan one..
The only one working properly is the BoomBox rom, as far as I know.
